Basile Landscaping & Lawn Care LLC

We contracted with Basile Landscaping & Lawncare, LLC (Basile) in August 2017 for work that was completed in November 2017. Work included a fire pit patio, consisting of patio pavers, rock stairs, and two small patio walls (approx. 30” tall at tallest point). Also included in the work was a small hot tub concrete pad, a small flagstone walkway, and irrigation repairs related to work performed. Total cost $22,830.00. Within a year of install, the patio walls, which were made out of natural stone and dry set, began caving in due to pressure from surrounding soil compaction. While we were able to reset the stones initially, the problem has gotten worse and now requires repair. We reached out to Basile in Oct. 2023 to get an estimate on repair costs with the hope that they would stand behind the workmanship. While we were not expecting the repairs to free, we did expect a fair price, since the rock walls did not hold up as promised. The rock walls should have been set in adhesive to ensure they would hold up. Jim Thomas from Basile provided us with a bid that totaled $3,500 to fix the walls installed by his company. We were told the bid reflected a $300 discount, since Basile did the initial install. Materials for the repair would be limited to polymeric sealant, which should have been used on the initial install, and repairs to the yard around the walls requiring work. We tried to negotiate a fair price for the repairs, since material costs would be less than $500, but Mr. Thomas would not negotiate a fair price to fix the poor installation provided by his company. In short, if you are looking for a company that does quality work at a fair price and stands behind the work performed, you may want to contract with a different company.

When they did finally come out to do a bid, they were very helpful and I would have gladly hired them if they had been available in the time that I needed them.

Basile Landscaping were great to work with. They came out to give us a quote within a couple days of contacting them and then had the work completed within 10 days of us contracting with them. They did a great job removing the old bushes, planting the new azaleas, laying down mulch, etc. After they finished, the owner called us to make sure we were satisfied. Very professional. Highly recommend them!

Basile Landscaping is a professional and well-run company. The office staff returns phone calls and sends bids in a timely and professional manner, and the crews who come to mow our lawn perform their jobs on schedule. They permit a bi-weekly mow schedule once June is over, which is nice, as some companies insist on pricing their mows according to a weekly schedule.

Jim did an excellent job on providing details, drawings and options to fit several jobs into a tight budget. He kept me informed at all times and answered calls promptly. He was professional, offered alternatives and had creative ideas. The company started the next day, were prompt and courteous during the entire process. They cleaned up every day. The deck took longer than all the other anticipated due to delays in obtaining the required products twice. Due to costs, I was not able to have all the work done that I wanted and will have to have finished in a year or two. However, we knew this going into the project and Jim was able to do the work around and had suggestions to ensure it still looked professional. Due to all the rain, the grass was a sea of mud and part of the sidewalk was broken. The company reseeded and fixed the concrete at no charge and it looks beautiful. My large peony bush was the only plant that was lost, literally. It had great sentimental value to me and my daughter, as the flowers were in her wedding bouquet. Jim replaced it at no charge, but was disappointing. I didn't pay close enough attention to the location of the stairs on the deck on the blueprints and it does block off the view from the lower level and the existing patio. By the time I figured out what was what, it was too late. The stone work is beautiful. The plants are blooming. the grass is green. The neighbors and my family love it! Everything is functional and beautiful. Jim listened carefully, worked with the budget, accommodated changes and fulfilled my vision for now and the work down the road.

Basile cut my lawn every week. They were prompt, dependable and always did an excellent job with all trimmings cleaned up. If for some reason I needed them to skip a week (new grass) it was easy to just send an email and the schedule was immediately adjusted with consistent communication about the change. I also had them install metal edging on two garden beds. Installation was clean, secure and as planned. (I laid out the string as a guide.) I was disappointed that on this job, while the edging was installed properly, there was no attempt to clear the surface of grass within the edging. For the $400, they did what I would consider the minimum necessary to complete it.....but I had to go back later and finish the surrounding area. I will use their service again next summer for the lawn. Good response and customer service attitude from everyone in the company. .

This is the 2nd time we have used the services Basile. They are very professional. Mike took the initiative to put a flag beside one of the sprinkler heads because he was concerned that the workers in our backyard might not notice it. It was a pleasant experience.

"Phil" showed up on time with a smile and a firm handshake. He went right to work and finished promptly. When done he said good-bye and left saying his office would mail an invoice. I phoned his office to offer praise for his good work and courteous behavior. I requested an emailed invoice which arrived promptly. Much better experience than our previous lawn sprinkler service.......

They were great. They came within a week; it was really fast. There was no additional charge. They were spectacular. We just moved to a new house that had a sprinkler system that we were unacquainted with. We are going to touch base back with them after winter is over to go ahead and have everything reset up. The guy was completely knowledgeable. We were very comfortable with them. There were no surprises and it was great. Everything was just as we had discussed.

Perfect. Couldn't have asked for nicer and more knowledgable people to work with and they called to ask if I had questions once they provided the bid. They let me know they wanted the job. It was amazing that others didn't put that effort into communicating. The same was true when the job moved along quickly and when completed. They were determined to please us and we are very happy with the results. I would use Basile again without hesitation.

Pretty typical winterizing of sprinkler system. They showed up on time and performed the work quickly and efficiently. Sent all necessary paperwork to the county.

Purchased two deals. Owner contacted me quickly to set up an appointment for startup and backflow test. Called ahead to let me know when the serviceman would arrive. Everything went smooth. Answered all my questions. I scheduled winterization pretty late. However, the owner called me to move me up a few days because a freeze was on the way. This was totally unexpected and I appreciate it very much. I would highly recommend Basile. A+

They did an amazing job! Among the three bids they were the only one to offer to increase the quality of our soil before laying the sod. Their pricing was competitive. On the day they did the job, their team went above and beyond. They transplanted a couple day lillies for me and mulched our tree in the front yard. They were courteous and professional. After installing the sod, they emailed a few days later to remind me to water. I highly, highly recommend them!

The staff here is very nice. They seem to do quality work. There was a initial misunderstanding on the price, but it has been taken care of and I will continue to use their services in the future.

I was so happy with the work done by Basile and Jim Thomes on my back retaining wall, I contracted them to construct a new front retaining wall. He managed to stay within my budget and provide the look I was striving to achieve. It is a big plus for me when I can leave someone to do the work I hired them to do as I had to leave town before they finished. As it rained on them the last day, when I returned I needed them to level the sod a little better and remove part of the maple's root that became exposed. They responded promptly and all is well.

Basile gave me a bid for my landscape work. They showed up on time and were timely in providing the bid. I ended up not selecting them but would definitely engage them again in the bidding process.

Went well. You knew that they had been there as they left a small sign in the lawn. Grass grew great and there were no weeds.
