Green Thumb showed up with a great crew who worked efficiantly and also took time to explain to me some lawn maintenance tips. Easy to work with and did a great job. I'll gladly work with them again.

I talked with a responsive representative by phone ahead of service, and explained that, though the lawn overall was in good shape, there were some thinner patches after the rough summer, and a few places where I'd dug out some weeds, that needed good overseeding. The company came out and overseeded, but did not get to the corners of the yard very well, which was apparent as a few thinned areas did not get any seed. There was also not much seed in the bald spots. I called again to ask about these issues, and they were happy to send someone out again to get those spots. When a guy came out to supplement the seed in the thin/bald patches of the yard, I met him out front, showed him the spots that I notice hadn't gotten much or any seed, and also specified a few flowerbeds where he should not put any seed. He did add seed to the bald spots, but unfortunately, also put seed in the flowerbeds where I'd specifically instructed him not to. So, I had to remove seed from those areas myself after the fact. When it was all said and done, I wish I had just bought a bag of seed and done it myself, as it would have taken less time overall, and certainly been cheaper. I'm sure they're a great company, and usually do a great job, but not always, as my experience shows.

I bought an Angie's List "Big Deal" from Green Thumb. Jason Vahle came to estimate the job. I think it was not the sort of job he wanted, but he gave me an estimate, which I accepted. He could not do it right away, but we agreed he could do the job and send me pictures along with the estimate. He sent me invoice, which I paid promptly. He did not send pictures with the invoice, but did send them when I requested them. It was not until I got home that I discovered that his workers had apparently run out of compost and left a large patch in the front unweeded and without compost. I sent an email pointing this out and asking him to correct the oversight. He responded with a picture of a completed portion saying the job was done. I sent pictures showing where it wasn't done. I got no response. As an aside, I recognize that one really shouldn't accept a "big deal" without a clear idea of what a job should cost. His price might have been fantastic or way out of line--I didn't do the research I should have done, but I wanted the job done and I did get most of it done perfectly well.

The crew did a good job trimming my trees and bushes. Clean up was also good. However, I only expected to pay for the 'special' which I think was one hour of work. That is what I told the estimator when he came out to review and schedule the job. They did stay longer and did more than the estimate, so I agreed to pay the full amount.

Not much to tell... We made an appointment after buying the Big Deal and they came and applied the agreed upon material in a timely fashion.

Seemed fine, they were in and out . Might have been nice if they put a flyer on the porch or yard sign saying what they do/provide.

We had some delays in the start of the project but the workman just left and the quality of the job far exceded my expectations. They were courteous and very business like. I would definetly recommend them.

although the people / workers were fine and professional, quality of work was not great, responsiveness to a few issues that came up was not good either

Two workers came, they went above and beyond of what they had to do. The yard was full of leaves which were all removed. The men also helped me mark the sprinklers when I turned the sprinkle system on. They also got their trimmer out and trimmed around a tree and the fence line which was beyond what they were to do. The men were friendly, professional, and courteous. I was totally impressed with their work ethic. I would definitely use this company and would hope these same gentlemen would be back.

They kept changing the time and I was not able to be home when the service was done. They missed some areas of the yard.

To see what needed to be done, the man came out an hour to an hour/half late. He left a message he would be late but he left it at the time he was due. He told me they could be there on Monday at 2pm to complete the job, probably be completed by 4pm. When I got home Monday at 5pm, no work was done and no message as to why. A truck with 2 guys showed up at about 6:30pm, they worked for about 30-45 minutes. They told me they were leaving and the next crew would have to complete the work. The other 2 guys showed up at 7:45pm and worked until almost dark 8:30pm. They asked me to come out and see what they had completed. They explained the boss would be by tomorrow to review their work, another guy would be back to get out this small stump because they needed a some kind of saw and they would spray tomorrow to complete their work. Tuesday, no one came by or called; I knew because the stump was still there, but I did not call to give them another day in case they were too busy. Wednesday, no one came by or called, same reason. So I called and spoke to the gentleman who answered the phone; basically, I did not complain, I just explained what his guys told me and wondered when the job would be completed. The man was a little rude to me stating they should have finished the job they had all the tools. His comment should have been addressed to his team not to me. I explained to him I was just repeating what his guys told me. I asked about spraying; he rudely told me they were not going to come to my house just to do one spraying job, I would have to wait for them to have several jobs in the area. I never lost my temper with him and was courteous because I know businesses are not perfect and are busy. But I was the customer just repeating what his team told me so if he was upset then he should have talked about it to his team not me the customer. Someone did come the next day to take out the stump but half of it was in my trash and the other part (6-8 diameters) was tossed in the yard. The guys who were here did work hard and were friendly and wanted to do a good job. I just can't get pass the fact the man was rude to me for no reason. If I had called yelling, screaming and cussing him out, I would understand his defensiveness; but all I did was to inquire when the job will be completed repeating exactly what his team of guys told me. I believe workers are doing me a favor by doing this job for me and should be treated respectfully. I also expect the company to treat me respectfully and since he did not; I do not want to use this company again. Everyone can have a different experience with the same company, so I am glad others are happy using this company.

They did the service without calling me first and just put a sign up in the front yard No idea if they really did anything and i specifically asked that they call before they did anything

We signed up with Green Thumb to take advantage of an introductory special. They did a great job, and offered us a deal on the full year of services so we continued with them. They are reliable and reasonable. I attempted to cancel the service for budgetary reasons at one point, only to find out that I could not buy the fertilizer and put it down myself any cheaper! Signed back up and they are wonderful.

Good job on the front and side but only a fair job in the back due to the slope.

Excellent overall. I sent the request to GreenThumb via web and e-mail on Saturday afternoon (outside of normal business hours). They called the next business day (Monday) and picked the leaves up the same day. They removed all of the leaves quickly and professionally.

After I purchased the big deal, the company promptly e-mailed me with the approximate dates they'd be here to aerate. About a week before they came they e-mailed me with a firm date. They showed up on the scheduled date and aerated and overseeded as advertised.

I think they did the work about 2weeks later than they should have but probably it will be fine.

I was not at home when they performed the service, but my wife was present. First, the employee expressed doubts that he would be able to fit the aerator through our gates. We have a home in south St. Louis city, and the gates are narrow. However, I used a different company the year prior, and they had no problem getting their equipment into our back yard. Green Thumb did complete the aeration, overseeding, and fertilization. However, they left a large amount of fertilizer in between my house and my neighbor's house. The area was actually on my neighbor's property. The person performing the service did not follow the fence line between our properties. The result was a large fertilizer burn spot on my neighbor's lawn. I should have contacted Green Thumb right away, but I found it easier just to sweep up the excess fertilizer, douse the burned area with water, and buy extra seed to fix the area. Overall, it was not a good experience. I don't recommend this company for people living in Saint Louis city with small yards.

Three men came, each with an aerator and did my half acre in 10 minutes. When I went out to look at the lawn after they left, it was hard to see what they actually did.

They did a complete job and aerated the entire lawn. Since I wasn't present, I will have to assume that they also applied seed. My complaint with the company is that they said they would call before they came to do the work, but didn't call. They did leave instructions on how much to water the over-seeded lawn, which I appreciated.

They were professional, punctual and did a really good job on my lawn.

They did a good job. They were initially scheduled to perform the service on a Sunday, but did not do it until the following Thursday due to rainy weather. They did call each day to say that they would perform the service the next day, but did not make it to my house until that following Thursday. I appreciated that they always followed up a missed appointment with a call to say that they were unable to perform the service that day and would reschedule for the next day until the job was done. I was satisfied overall with their service.

The crew did an excellent job and we were very happy with the end reult and look.
