The fence itself is great!! Very nice and priced better than any other competitor. the only issue I had was after they finished I noticed I had a damaged down spout and busted corner molding on my siding. I called and they agreed to fix it. However it took them 5-6 phone calls and a few months to fix the damage. On that note the down spout and vinyl molding looks extremely good and for that I would definitely use them again.

Price was in line with other companies but service starting with the office and sales rep was superior. Installed a week behind schedule due to ice storms so it wasn't there fault. Only complaint is a lack of communication between sales rep and crew installing the fence.

I recently hired Fence & Deck Depot to install a fence for my backyard. As with most projects like this, you interact with a number of people from the company to get things done. The installation crew was fantastic. The 2 days they were onsite, they were courteous, hard working, and professional. I paid for haul away service for excess dirt, but they said they would lay some dirt for me in a low portion of my yard that could use some extra fill. The office interaction was extremely sub-par. After an initial email telling me to expect the work to be done in a 2 week window, I called a week after the window and no work had begun yet. The lady took my name and told me the PM would call me back. She never did. I had to call again 2 days later, and she informed me they would start that following Monday. The initial work crew installed all the posts, fences, and 1 gate. I had an additional 2 hill gates that needed to be installed, and they weren't installed for another 2 weeks. No call, no information from the PM. The work crew told me the gates would be installed in 2-3 days, so I'm totally baffled by the lack in communication from the PM. Finally, the company asks that you use this website for the project. Sometimes the communications would come through that website, sometimes they would email, and most times they would call. Why even set up a project website, and not use it? The communication from the company was inconsistent and poor.

Not long after we contacted the company again because when it rained, water pooled on the deck. Fearing that excessive moisture would lead to early deterioration of the wood, I called to have someone come out. The fix was shims and a comment that this wood “would not deteriorate in 100 years,” and not to worry. Fast forward to 2016. One of the deck boards showed substantial mold and deterioration (we could put a screwdriver through parts of it), and others were on the same track. Upon further investigation we discovered that the support post on one corner was rotted as were a couple of the joists. When we called about this, we learned that the company that manufactured the lumber was no longer in business, so their warranty was useless. However Fence and Deck Depot has a 20 year warranty on substructure labor. A person from Fence and Deck Depot came out, took pictures, and went back to his boss to see what could be done. While he was with us he kept saying that the failure of our deck was due to material defect, not due to any installation problems. Our comment was, while that may be true, no spaces were left between the boards when they were installed so as to facilitate run-off. Hence they probably never completely dried out during all the rains that we had experienced. When he called back, he had met with the president of the company and they agreed to replace the rotted joists and post on the substructure. However he stated that they were 4-6 weeks out and could not give me a definite date as to when the repair would occur. That was in early September sometime. We have yet to hear from them. Because the deck was not sound any more, we decided to start the repair process ourselves (we are 75 and 85 years old). To have the substructure replaced by a local handyman cost us about $1400 in labor and materials +. And our son-in-law is building a new deck. Our disappointment is first, that the company did not vet its product enough—and they did not stand behind their product. Their rep mentioned that they had had several failed decks using this product. The lesson learned? Go with a proven track record—not something that looks good in a glossy brochure. Secondly, our disappointment with the customer service. We never felt the company really cared about our plight, and was hoping that they would never hear from us again. Which they have not, and will not. The interesting thing is that we did our due-diligence. This company had high ratings. Sadly we cannot contribute to those in a positive way from our experience.
Description of Work: In May or June of 2010 my husband and I contacted Fence and Deck Depot for an estimate to replace our aging deck. Rob Weaver, their sales rep, looked over the old deck, and then presented his product suggestion for the new deck, PureWoodProducts, complete with a very attractive brochure. It was represented as the latest in pressure treated lumber, and would last a very long time. We had to wait several months for the actual installation. Finally we had a new deck. It looked good, except for the quality of the workmanship. The cost was $5990.80.

Everything was just fine. For starters, when Lee gave me the estimate, he applied a coupon that was being advertised but that I didn't know about. He didn't have to do that and I would never have known, but the fact that he cares said a lot to me about his commitment to customer service. When the day came to install the fence, it was started on the day they said it would be and completed in one day. It was a three man crew that worked hard and treated my yard with respect. They kept me updated through out the day and made sure I understood what they were doing. I couldn't be happier with my new fence and I know my dog will love not having to be on a leash anymore.

I will start out with the positives in that the owner is a very nice guy and agreed to try to make things right with this project, and when you call them they answer their phone and generally respond quickly to emails. However this project was nothing short of totally frustrating. It took them literally 7 times to come to our house to make it good enough. The salesman did not know what he was doing in terms of his original consultation and order. He did suggest a good place to put one of the gates but beyond that was not competent. He either did not turn in our order change or the management lost it. As a result they put in the entirely wrong fence (4ft which should have been 6ft.) Plus he put in the wrong size posts in the order resulting in a gate that was really wobbly and felt like it could fall off at any moment. The installation crew told me the salesman was an idiot (unprofessional) but they still left the project with this shaky unstable gate. The crew itself did a sub par installation job with messy, inadequate cement for the posts. From there it was one problem after the other. Someone would come out to fix one issue but knew nothing about the other issues we had discussed with the owner. The gate bowed in the middle and it wasn't until trip #6 that one of the installation guys told us we needed some kind of cable to support the gate because it was large. We would have been happy to do that if the owner who came out to inspect had suggested it, let alone the original salesman. This company has either gotten too large, and/or there is poor communication between the installers and the management. Unless we complained every step of the way things were not done right. It was our landscaper who has seen many fences and gates who pointed out immediately in consultation with another builder that the installation of the gates was done cheaply and inproperly and we would have problems in the future.
Description of Work: We needed some fencing and a small gate on one side of our house and a larger gate on the other side of the house.

Excellent. Speed was one of my main priorities in getting this fence built for a new house. They were very prompt in getting us an estimate. Actual construction was very speedy—two days for our fence and it was raining some of that time. They used a beautiful pre-stained douglas fir for the fence that everyone just loves. I would definitely use their services again.

Our experience with this company was nothing short of phenomenal! Lee met with us for the quote and came back later in the week to bring back samples of the actual product they would be installing. We received many bids and while they were not the cheapest, they were far from being the most expensive. We had some questions between the hire date and actual install date so I called the office a few times. The assistant at the office never made me feel like I was intruding or asking any silly questions. She was so polite and answered all of my questions. The crew showed up on February 29 on time and ready to work. As a matter of fact, on day 2 I had to ask my husband if the guys took a lunch break. He said no, they were eating while they were working. These guys gave 150% the entire time they were working. They finished installing 215 feet of fence in 2 1/2 days. They arrived on time and worked the entire day. At the end of the process they walked us around the fence, inside and out, to ensure we were happy with the work. Everything looked great and we had no complaints. I would strongly advise if you are looking for a fence install that this company be your first and last call. We had many bids and are so happy with our choice. Thank you Lee and team! You exemplify how a company should do business and always put your customer's first.

I made several changes to my schedule to accommodate the appointment date and time (10/7 at noon) that Tim requested. I had a lot of things to get done, but stayed home to be available for an 12 noon appointment with him. At noon (or close to it) I received a call from Tim that he wasn't feeling well, could we reschedule? I did no even though I was annoyed that he would wait until he was suppose to be at my door to let me know that he could not make it. Had he called earlier, I could have done some of the things that I had put off because I was waiting on him. We rescheduled the appointment for 10/12 again at noon (his choice of date and time). When the time for the appointment came and went, I called the office number, because his contact number had the voice mail full and could not accept any more messages. About 3 pm that day, my husband received a call that Tim had emergency hernia surgery, could we reschedule it for 10/13 at 10am. Okay - 10/13 comes, he forgot he had a doctor's appointment can we do it on 10/14 at 11am. Today (10/14) - no Tim, no call.
Description of Work: Made contact with provider at the St Charles Home Show and Tim was extremely anxious to schedule an appointment to give me an estimate to: enlarge the deck, create a screened-in area on the deck, pour a stamped, colored concrete slab under the entire length of the deck.

We contracted with Fence and Deck Depot to do a replacement fence on a rental property that we have. The representative came to our house and did the paperwork, explaining everything that would be happening, he talked with my husband on site to see what needed to be done. Communication was excellent. We were contacted with concerns all along the way and we were able to call them as well. The crew that did the work was very nice and very professional. On the day of the tear down and the install of the new fence, the crew made sure that they understood what was needed and what we wanted. The fencing material was great. It is a good and sturdy material that will last for years. We are very pleased with the work that Fence and Deck Depot did and would not hesitate to use them again or to refer someone else to them, F&DD is a great company. Thanks!

After much research and several bids we chose Fence & Deck Depot. Bill was our sales manager. He was prompt for our first meeting. Having the patience of a tic-tac, when we made adjustments to our bid and increased the cost it was a tad slow in response, BUT, like I said, clearly could have been me. I knew it was a very busy time for fencing so I wanted to get on their calendar sooner than later. After calling the office, they put me on the calendar while Bill was finishing his paperwork. Perfect solution! They were fairly priced and had great customer service. The team on-site were friendly and hard workers. The lead (Travis I think) accidentally nicked our internet line and he told me right away. At first I didn't think it affected anything but as the day continued our internet came to a screeching halt. I emailed Chris at their office and they scheduled Charter to come out the next day. Accidents happen and I was really impressed with how they handled it. My only wish would have been them bringing/installing the springs on the gates to meet pool code. As Travis was done and leaving he mentioned we should get some. They knew we had a pool. Shouldn't this be an automatic install (even if the price goes up by $30)? My husband was able to purchase and install them quickly so not a huge deal, but one of those details they could have noticed. Travis did! Thanks to him! Anyone looking for a new fence shouldn't hesitate in using this team. Thanks to Bill, Chris and Travis (+ team). We LOVE LOVE LOVE our new and larger backyard! We feel like we're in a different yard now!

I told the salesman exactly what I wanted. I wanted the old privacy fence torn down and a new privacy fence erected. He beat the lowest bid. They offered a great financing plan. I provided instructions regarding where I wanted the fence. Most importantly I expressed how crucial it was that the fence be parallel to the house at certain points so that I could install a deck later. The salesman staked it out. I was given a diagram of the planned layout of the fence. This is where it went badly.... First of all, if you are getting a fence from these guys, don't assume it will be straight. They stake it out and ask you if that is where you want it. That is where they will put it. Forget the diagram. My diagram showed straight lines and right angles. In reality, I ended up with a lightning bolt shaped zig zag between my house and the garage. Now, in fairness, they walked me along the lines of the fence before they put it up. However, you would be surprised how difficult it is to judge angles and lines when the fence is not actually erected and it is just represented by stakes in the ground. At least that is the case for me, which is why I hired a company to put it up....I trusted them to do it right. They did not. The fence was so crooked that EVERYONE who saw it was amazed that they Fence and Deck Depot actually put their name on it. So, I call them and let them know that it isn't straight. At first they were going to charge me full price to fix it. I don't know what that would have been. However, after many emails and calls they told me that I needed to take some responsiblity. They offered to only charge me $380 to fix the fence. At that point, I just wanted it fixed and I paid them. Ultimately I paid about $200 more than the next lowest bid. In addition, they financed the $380 separately, so that cost me even more money. This is only part of the problem. The old fence was several feet into my property. So, when they removed it, there was several feet of mud between the new fence and my lawn. I planned to till the soil this past weekend. Thankfully, I poked around a bit before I did. You see, they removed the old fence panels....and then they CUT THE OLD FENCE POSTS NEAR THE GROUND AND COVERED THEM WITH AN INCH OR TWO OF DIRT. I wasn't going to write this review at first because I just wanted to walk away from this experience and count it as a very expensive lesson. However, I nearly wrecked an expensive tiller this weekend. It made me realize that I should at least warn folks what to expect. I have to admit, the fence is pretty. It is mostly straight now. It is high quality. It smells fantastic. Initially, it was a great price. If you choose to go with Fence and Deck Depot, then you will be greeted by a very nice and professional team of workers. After speaking with the office staff, I am assuming that everything I described is standard practice for Fence and Post Depot and not the fault of the workers themselves. Ultimately, if you choose Fence and Deck Depot, then get someone else to help you line up the fence. Buy a laser level or at least get some string. Just know that once they put that stake in the ground, that is where you fence post will be. No matter how ridiculous it looks, they will put it there. Also, if you are getting a fence removed, make sure you take into consideration what happened in my case. Either make them agree to removing it completely or ask them to leave the fence posts above ground so that you can see where they are and remove them yourself. I am planning to spend the next couple weekends digging my old fence posts up. I tried to be fair with my ratings. The price was great initially, but I ended up paying an extra $380+ (which I didn't have and I had to finance). The office staff was really great about answering my questions and taking my calls during the process even though they didn't provide me with a satisfactory outcome. The guys that installed the fence did it very quickly. The finished product, after being corrected is beautiful and sturdy and it has a great warranty. I gave them an overall rating of 'D' because the first fence was crooked and they charged me to fix it. In addition, the old fence posts were not removed. Instead of completely removing the old fence posts, buried them under a couple of inches of dirt. If you are serious about dropping several thousand dollars on a fence, please learn from my experience.

They got the job done within two days. They were pretty straightforward with the job. There had been no complaints while they were working. We went with them because they were definitely the lowest in price. They gave me a discount based on how far they had to travel with the supply. The quality of service was good. There was one gate that had a defect and they replaced it the same day we called them. Their response was great. The only time we had to really wait was when we were put on a wait-list before the fence was installed. They showed up when they said they would. They were not unprofessional in any way. We would use them again if we needed more fence work done.

We needed to have one side of our fence replaced because the house next door was torn down and the fence that made up that side of our fence was torn down with it. We contacted several companies for quotes and found Fence & Deck Depot reasonable. We also liked there salesman, Bill, very much. Initially the fence was ready for installation in August but the house was not yet torn down so we had to delay the installation. Fence & Deck had no problem delaying the installation and told us to let them know when we were ready. Finally in November the house was torn down. When I called I thought it would take several weeks but they were able to put us right on the schedule. The installation was very professional.

Due to cost of project i shopped price and reputation hard >> I got four quotes and decided on Fence and Deck Depot The entire process went well .. But there were some bumps along the road .. First the salesperson was professional and prompt .. His main selling points were The company OWNS its Lumber yard and ALL Products they sell are in stuck (due to their size) He seemed a little too concerned with selling and not listening (but all sales people do that ) .. After we got plan together we agreed on price and set approximate date of install ...after we missed install date of one and then two weeks ..I called and asked What's up ?? The install crew said the particular length of plank i ordered was back ordered and they supplier can't offer a date to receive ...I though ...I asked How is this possible when you own your own lumber yard and carry all product you install are always in stock ??????...then I thought , Oh boy here we go so after demanding service, a simple solution was offered ( They offered to change the size if plank (simple huh ?) and started the following monday !! Well the workers were impressive ..They ripped out old deck and made significant progress on first day ..They finish next day ...this deck is 14'x21' ... VERY IMPRESSIVE !! >> They cleaned up after themselves and job site was immaculate . After install I notice some pen / pencil marks on about 15-20 boards that would not clean up .. After demanding (once again) They finally came up with a product that cleaned the marks up .. So after some bumps I would say I am very satisfied with fence and deck depot >> I always think projects with have some bumps and the quality of company depends on how they handle those bumps >> Fence and deck depot Did very well !! Only a little demanding was needed

Workers showed up, did job. Were polite. Fence was not set right on old fence line, they came in a little. The door has malfunctioned 3 times. Each time they have sent someone out right away. Hopefully this time its resolved. I have no doubt they will resolve any other issue that would come up. They were nearly half of all the other quotes. Im happy with the job.

When the sales person showed me all the options and reviewed it with me and was patient will all my questions really stood out to me. I thought they were great and very competitive with the pricing. Them giving me the advice was very beneficial. I went with a steel fence and only had to replace one board when they tree fell, if not I would have had to replace more.
Description of Work: I used Fence and Deck Depot to repair when my tree fell.

We liked the initial interactions with our sales representative and we even had a good recommendation from a friend (but later heard a bad review from another friend). Their estimate was right in line with the average bids that we received, but the quality of the vinyl from the other installers was superior. I am a highly technical person and I research the heck out of everything! depot's vinyl is chines made mono-extruded vinyl. While they offer a warranty against chalking, mono-extrusions simply don't offer the same level of UV protection as co-extrusions. They say that some parts are mono and some are co, but from what I can tell all, of them are mono. I doubt they would be able to "fusion weld" the gates the way they do if the main structural members were co-extruded They push the thickness of their posts and lifetime gate warranty, but I just don't believe the quality could be as good as the american made co-extruded vinyl fences that others offer. One last thing... When the sales rep called me and I had to let him know that we decided to go with someone else, his reaction was a bit alarming. In an industry where most people will get 3-4 bids, you will loose 3/4 of all bids, so you need to handle it well. Instead, he was very rude to me and told me that he could have gotten me a lower price (even though he told me he had given me his best price).

Dear [Members Name], I have attached a web link to US Fenceguide that explains co extruded and mono extruded fence products. There are many websites out that talk about these products so this is just one. http://www.usfenceguide.com/vinyl-fence-co-extrusion-vs-mono-extrusion/ Please take a look at this site and others that talk about these products. In most cases the companies that make the coextruded are all for co extruded and the companies that make mono extruded are all for mono extrusion. We did our research and found a product that gives us tremendous value for the money spent. Our posts are normally 10% thicker than our market and our pickets are 25% thicker than this market. Our supplier at first was exclusively mono extruded and since we have been using them has converted some of the products to co extruded. Our posts and rails are now co extruded and the pickets are still and will continue to be mono extruded. The reason every company choses to change is not because the products are better but because the products are cheaper to build. You see, TI02 is the most expensive part of a vinyl fence and that’s what is used in both mono and co extruded products. By co extruding the product the manufacturer is putting a thin layer of product with the same pert per million in the outside layer thus reducing the cost of the product. Mono extruded products have the same past per million throughout the entire product giving it more TI02 than the co extruded product. As far as our gates being “fusion Welded”, we weld all of our vinyl 4’ products with Kroy Co Extruded profiles made in the USA and the privacy fence styles with Dynasty (China Made) co extruded profiles. Through our in house testing we found that the Co extruded products from Kroy for the 4’ fence styles gave us the least fail rate and in the privacy styles our Dynasty brand gave us the least fail rate. We offer the lifetime gate adjustment warranty so that you as a home owner has a lifetime of worry free vinyl fencing for your home. We know we are going to things go wrong with the hinges, concrete, posts, latches and yes the gates themselves, but since the gates are the only thing you actually use, we wanted them to be as little hassle as possible. As far as being rude, this is something that I will be speaking to all of my staff about since it is not our policy to be rude. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I believe you have a right to your opinion that the US products are better and I hope your opinion was not swayed by a competitor’s presentation of their product but truly was based on your research. I am challenging you to show me the data that supports that statement. I hope this helps in explaining why we chose the product we offer. I am sorry that you feel the way you do and please accept my apology for my sales consultant being rude. Respectfully, Richard Lusa President Fence & Deck Depot Inc.

Fence and Deck Depot and Richard are a class act - very responsive and punctual with all communication. They gave us a tremendous value for our 6' Western Red Cedar, scalloped fence with Eastern Red Cedar posts and we couldn't be happier. The cedar smells amazing, and the guys that came out to install it were polite and courteous as well. Highest recommendation for this company! We will be refinishing our deck soon and will be sure to call them again.
