I highly recommend Fence and Deck Depot for anyone looking to undertake a deck project. In 2022, I made the mistake of cutting corners by opting for a cheaper option with a big box retailer, and it ended up being a disaster with a failed deck by the city and a settlement that took nine months. Luckily, Fence & Deck Depot came to my rescue and provided top-notch service and materials. The Deck: The crew of two took one week to finish. One aspect that truly stood out was the level of craftsmanship displayed by the team. They paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every composite panel was perfectly straight. Even the parts of the deck that no one would typically see, like the lumber pillars underneath the deck, were painted to blend in. Before leaving the project, they hosed down the deck and removed any debris. The commitment to excellence and a high level of integrity sets them apart. Experience: From start to finish, the professionalism of the Fence & Deck Depot team was exceptional. They consistently maintained clear communication at every step of the process, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience. What truly sets them apart is their willingness to go above and beyond. Initially, we had our deck installed by a big box retailer to save costs. Unfortunately, the deck failed multiple city inspections, requiring its complete removal. Fortunately, the Fence & Deck Depot team stepped in, offering guidance and answering our questions as we navigated a settlement with the original installer. What's remarkable is that they were incredibly responsive, addressing numerous emails and phone calls even though we had yet to officially become their clients by signing a contract or providing a down payment. Their support was entirely in good faith, and we greatly appreciate their dedication to helping us through our difficult situation.

Worst service and experience ever dealing with a professional service. They built a fence for my dogs and did such a bad job there was huge gaps on the bottom of the fence. My dog got out and ran away and across a interstate, where the dog came within inches of being hit. They damaged my retaining wall and did not repair it properly. I have had to pay f Over 4 thousand dollars on top of the cost of the fence to fix the damage they left. This company does not take responsibility for their mistakes. Any good company is based on how they repair the issue the created. This company fails with a big "F". This company is all getting their money even at the cost of their customers.

On 12-28-22 this place built a completely different fence than agreed upon. Now, I understand that’s open to conjecture so I’ll just present the finished product. The GM came out and said he would make it right and built the way I expected. Here it is 3 days later and I had to track him down for a date/time only to find out he was going back on his word. Got to speak to the owner as well. A guy called Sean Nesbit. Although he was speaking from his office, 6.8 MILES FROM ME, he said he’d be by next Tuesday. Gotta say, ‘Ol Sean really made me feel important. If you go with Fence & Deck Depot expect this horrible quality for your money. Names to avoid in this industry: Fence & Deck Depot, Sean Nesbit, Karl Andris and Greg Witt because they will screw you over without a second thought.

[Member Name Removed], we at Fence and Deck Depot take every customer’s concerns very seriously. It is our standard company practice to address our customers’ concerns. We have meet with you on two separate occasions to discuss your project after it was completed. We value your customer experience, as we do for all our customers. However, Fence and Deck Depot must also address the safety and wellbeing of its employees and will not tolerate disrespectful, insulting, or bullying behavior toward them. Therefore, the company has decided to decline any future meetings and no employee will be required to interact with you further. We stand by our core value to do the right thing. As such, you will receive a refund of the amount it would cost to address your concerns based upon your original fencing request and the written contract you reviewed and signed. [Member Name Removed], you are hereby put on notice, if you trespass onto any Fence and Deck Depot property or further harass our employees, we will call the police and fully execute our legal rights to protect our team. We are sorry we are at this point in your project. The owner agreed to meet you at your yard to discuss your fence project; we are sorry his schedule didn't allow for an immediate meeting and rather, proposed a reasonable timeframe to meet. We are surprised by your social media attacks and the manner in which you have spoke with multiple employees. We have not argued with you once but we are starting to have concern for the safety of our team.

From start to finish we had good service. We had some amazing guys that installed the fence. They worked very hard to get the job done and they were very nice. I had to call the office sometime later about my gate and received a quick response. I also referred two of my daughters there for their fences.

Great over-all experience with Fence and Deck Depot from the initial estimate to fence installation. Salesman was very knowledge about their fence products and did not pressure to buy. Office staff kept us well informed about the fence installation scheduling. The crew did a excellent job installing the fence and before they left washed down the vinyl fence and completely cleaned up the yard. A few weeks after the install we noticed one gate needed tweaking. They came the very next day and made the adjustment. The quality of their vinyl fence material is well above any other company we received bids from. We would highly recommend this company.

Installation went as planned. Do not recommend their vinyl fence though if you have a large dog. The pickets are hollow and big dogs can push them out of location. We've had repair people out on several occasions to assess the problem with the pickets. They told us they were going to add aluminum supports to every picket on the side where we were having the problem. They then told us they completed the repair and that everything should be good. A month later the dogs knocked a picket out and when I went to fix it there were no aluminum supports to be found. I checked two or three pickets and found NO supports basically confirming that they flat out lied to us. I would not recommend this company because, in my opinion, they cannot be trusted. Spent just over $6k for a 4 ft vinyl fence that covers two sides and a couple of gates. Now I have to find a way to repair or even replace it

We apologize for your experience. We work on over 1,000 fences annual and have never come across this situation before. We did follow through on what we said we would do to try to accommodate the brute force this fence is being put under. We understand that you were satisfied with this accommodation and had agreed to take down this negative review.

Fence was installed incorrectly - took them three separate visits to get it done properly. They put the stakes in the wrong spot when measuring, then had the audacity to say it was our fault because we weren't present during the time of the installation to tell them they were putting it in the wrong spot. First off, it's not our job to babysit a team of "professional" fence contractors to be sure they do their job right. Second, we would have loved to have been there during the fence install, but they came out with no warning while we were out of town, so we had the joy of returning home to a fence installed in the wrong spot. A bunch of debris (concrete chunks) were left in our yard after they had to remove the first fence attempt because it was put in the wrong location. I assumed they would clear out the mess they made, I guess not. They also left the holes from their first attempt filled with concrete. Since they made the mistake of installing the fence in the wrong spot, I assumed they would clear the mess they made, but instead left several giant holes in my yard filled with concrete. They refuse to remove these or compensate us for the trouble because apparently this is standard fence installation procedure, leaving giant holes filled with concrete in the middle of customer's yards. Contractors damaged our sump pump discharge pipe ($800+ repair cost and horrible damage to our yard). The owner of the company's response was basically "not our problem." They weren't open to discounting our final cost based on the repair costs Supposedly, the company's core values are (taken from their website): "Treat others how you want to be treated. From our employees to our customers and everyone in-between, we treat others with respect." I guess the owner here wishes to be treated with disrespect and wants people to destroy his property and then refuse to do anything about it. "Do it right the first time. Our team takes pride in completing a project thoroughly and professionally as if we were building in our own backyard." It's almost comical - it took them THREE attempt to get our fence installed in the proper location and without any issues like it was drawn up in the contract. "Do the Right thing. Sometimes the right thing is hard to do, other times it’s easy. Either way, we always do what is right for our customers and our company – even when no one is looking." Apparently the right thing to do in this situation is cause hundreds of dollars of damage to someones home and then avoid taking any responsibility for it. Sounds like the right thing to do, nice work, guys. "Our crews will exceed your expectations with a drama-free installation of your new fence or deck." Can't help but laugh. I cannot emphasize how much I DO NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Thank you for your feedback. While none of us like these situations, you agree that you have a quality fence. Just as important, this matter provides us with some opportunities for re-training and your review helps us communicate to future customers some of the critical steps involved in purchasing a fence. We communicate in multiple channels throughout the process to our customers that it’s critical that they meet with us in person during the consultation step, the pre-construction planning step, and the day-of-installation. When you chose to do none of those, it put us in a difficult position of trying to guess what you wanted. We are more than happy to accommodate our customers’ schedules when we’re informed of them. Further, we are very transparent about the risk of unmarked buried lines such as sump pump lines. We will always have public utility lines marked prior to installation, but there is no way for a fence installer to know where personal lines are located (sump pump lines, sprinkler lines, etc.). All reputable fence installers will flag this as a risk to customers as we are unable to identify where these lines are and the customer must accept responsibility of this risk. Similar to our communications about being present during the process, we communicate multiple times during the process about the risk of the unmarked buried lines and you acknowledged this risk by signing your initials on our customer acknowledgement form. In the end, as you indicate in your review, your fence was properly installed. We did make it right and we hope you enjoy your new fence for many years to come.

We were very satisfied with the fence installation. The salesman was knowledgeable about the installation process and materials used and provided an accurate quote on site. The installers were fast and professional. They cleaned up after themselves and left my yard looking better with a new fence. The owner personally contacted me to make sure that the entire installation was to our liking. We were very satisfied and would recommend this company to anyone looking to install a fence in the future.

We used Angie's list to contact a couple of contractors and obtained bids for the work. We had an old fence removed and replaced with a 6' vinyl privacy fence. Fence and Deck Depot offered the best price by a significant margin, as well as a reasonable time period in which to get the work done. They advised us the day before coming to do the job, and the crew (2 hard working gentlemen) arrived early on the day agreed. The installers were obviously very experienced, very hard working, and polite and respectful. Despite temperatures that day of 100+, they worked hard all day, completing the removal of the old and installation of 200+ ft and 2 gates before 6PM. (Don't forget to offer your installers ice water, etc. if the weather requires it.) Paperwork was handled promptly by the office, and pertinent warranties etc. were delivered quickly after the work was completed and paid for. I am not going to include a cost of service since every job is different and our cost probably would have little relation to yours. Suffice it to say that Fence and Deck Depot's pricing was very reasonable and the materials used were of very high quality. I would definitely do business with them again.

Project manager was changed without my knowledge, as a result, my job was lost in the shuffle. Had to call three times to get fence installed 10 weeks after I had paid a deposit. This company had to come back three times to fix and reinstall the gates. The first crew that did the initial install spent over an hour trying to start the Post Hole Digger. Once they finally finished and after waiting 24 hours for the cement to dry I noticed the gates (north and south side) were super flimsy after opening and shutting them closed. I noticed the pole was too skinny to support the gates when shutting them. I also noticed that some of the fence was damaged and I was unable to open the north gate. On top of that they cracked my sidewalk and noticed the cement was not filled in all the way which caused a big dip where they installed the poles that were too skinny in the first place. The poles were not cut to length and were missing the top caps. This is the type of work they have done after waiting an extra month for this install. After speaking with second crew they had told me that the fences come from China so the damage could have came from the shipment. I found that a little funny because the guy that conducted the quote told us that the fences are made in the United Staes. The crew that came to reinstall the gates told me that they have never seen gates installed that way and the first crew had used the wrong size pole for the gates. After the second attempt to make this right I was unable to open one of the gates because it was hitting the sidewalk when trying to open it. For the third time, I had to call again to have them come and fix my gate and had to ask to have handles installed because none of the gates came with handles. This company has very poor communication and they failed to let us know multiple times that they changed the installation dates. At the end, they did make everything right but it was a disaster and they should have installed it the right way the first time. This company never offered to reduce to price due to all of the issues and never called to check on if everything was fixed. I would NOT use this company!

We could not be happier with the new fence! We opted for eastern cedar for the durability and guarantee. It is much sturdier than the old fence, and looks spectacular. The salesperson had estimated that it would take two days to install, but it only took one and cleanup was much better than I had expected.

Buyer beware. Although ultimately the work was finished and we're happy with the quality of the work their guy did, our entire transaction was the definition of bad business -- buyer beware. During the original quoting process, our sales person totally misrepresented the company saying that they were really a construction company that merely did deck and fence work on the side to fill in around their core business. Other employees within the company have assured me since that that is completely untrue and they only do fence and deck work. However, since that's how the sales guy quoted our job, he also told us that since ours was a small job there would be additional "large equipment" fees even though no large equipment was required for our job. When I pushed back, he said that since they were a construction company, all they had was large equipment so if we wanted them to do our job, we would have to subsidize their costs in coming out -- as though he was doing us a favor. In retrospect, this is where I should have ended the conversation, however he assured us that they would do a great job and we were in need to get it done quickly so we negotiated down the "large equipment" fee and agreed to the work. We were told that the work would be completed in no more than 4-6 weeks, but they should be able to work us in much sooner. However, after 4 weeks of silence, we began calling our sales guy who had since stopped return our calls. As it turns out, had lost/forgotten our order, so nothing had ever been scheduled. Again, I should have cancelled everything at this point, but we were in a pinch needing to get the work done and the other lead times we had been quoted were even longer, so we pushed forward working directly with the office staff rather than the unethical sales guy. The office staff scheduled the work to be done on the Friday before Memorial Day, but no one ever showed up, so they pushed us out to the Tuesday after. I was out of town for the holiday weekend so I left messages clearly explaining that Tuesday wouldn't work but Wednesday would and asked for someone to return my call if that was going to be an issue. I was very clear that Tuesday would not work and very clear that I expected a returned call if they weren't able to move the work to Wednesday but received no calls. However, when Tuesday rolled around, their guy showed up regardless and since no one was home, he literally broke into my back yard (taking the hinges and door off the locked gate) to begin the work. When we discovered the intruder, the work was already half complete so we opted not to make a scene in hopes we could just get the job finished. I spoke with the Fence and Deck office team after the work was complete and they agreed to further discount the bill due to the fictitious "large equipment fee" but had no explanation for the breaking and entering. I mailed them a check for payment, which they claim never arrived, so I had to stop payment on the first check. I asked for another invoice to be emailed to me and they had the wrong email address in their system. While I realize that everyone has a bad day, this transaction was a cluster F with some of the most unprofessional people I've ever encountered. They misrepresented their business, added in fictitious fees, lost the order, screwed up the scheduling, didn't return calls and broke into my back yard. Who does that? Avoid using these people at all costs -- I really should have called the police after the breaking and entering event . . . .

Thought it started great. Initial estimator was nice and reassuring, though he wouldn't even look at my Angie's list coupon, said the job wasn't over $3k so no coupon would apply and I needed to read fine print (no fine print exists). Really needed the fence so we got things set up (I thought) and he left. Called in to office to place security deposit and was told they would be out the next week. About 4 weeks later I finally called and it was like they forgot about me. They came out later that week. I walked crew leader around to tell him about what had been discussed with estimator. All went okay until we got to a post they needed to replace and reconnect. Said he wouldnt do it even though it was estimators idea to do it. I needed the fence done and since he refused, I had no choice but to let them get started. After they got poles in and started connecting the mesh, it was obvious the fence was wrong size (42 inches). I went back to paperwork and saw the estimator wrote down 42 inches even though I need 48 inches for home insurance and neighbors fencing are all closer to 48. But it was too late to have them stop and wait weeks more for the right material. They also messed up all 3 gates (2 due to estimator measurement error and 1 because crew set posts too far apart). So they then told me all 3 gates would have to be remade and couldnt tell me when that would happen. So I called the office and told them what was going on and asked to get them fixed ASAP because I NEEDED a fence. They "put a rush" on it and said probably would be the next Tuesday or Wednesday. I reluctantly said okay since I had no choice. Forward to Wednesday and still haven't heard from them. So I call again after work to get update. Once again, it is like they completely forgot about it. Was told they were almost done with gates and it would be Thursday or Friday. So I called again after work Thursday and they said they were almost done with second gate and should be out Friday (a week after the initial install). They sent the same crew out and this time I'm glad I went over everything with them. They had no clue how the drop rod was supposed to work, I had to look it up on the internet and show them how. Then I realized all gates had been installed with both hinges up (meaning you could lift the gate up and it would come right off). So they had to go back and fix them. Also, along the way they installed tension line along bottom of fence but didn't tighten. I was able to stick my whole leg out the bottom, which would not keep the dogs in. So they had to re-tighten the line both times they came back out. Also, they put a new post right next to that post they wouldn't replace. So I got to pay for a post I didnt need. And will now have to replace the old and new post in a few years when the old finally gives out and then fix their fence and my old fence so both will reach the new pole that is in the right place. Finally, they left mud all over the side of my house where they put in a new post against the garage. I will admit as a positive the office people continued to offer to fix all the problems with the fence. And the estimator did offer one idea that worked out better than imagined to go around a tree on the property line. Although none of that compares to the mismatched size of fence and headache down the road of fixing the post I shouldn't have had to pay for (insult to injury). The only person I could recommend this service to would be someone that knows how to put a fence in themselves (so they know exactly what estimator is doing wrong), wants to spend a whole bunch more money than they need to for the same quality they can do themselves, and finally enoy waiting and problem after problem. The cherry on top, when final invoice came due they added tax to the "all included" price given by estimator. Luckily I knew better and called office once again to ask why it got added. Of course the person in office had no clue how the box got unchecked. I wonder how many times this has happened to other customers...

The installation went well and looks great. I would have given all As, however there was a lack of communication once the job was actually going to start.
