They fixed the water heater, but I still had problems with my toilet.

I called Jeff Ray and Son's Plumbing because I was referred to the company by a friend of the family. Now, a few days later, I'm not happy with the value or quality of the service I received. This email is to document that for you, since I called the service man back this morning and still wasn't happy with that call either. Problem: pipes in the laundry room (only that room) started suddenly knocking. I've been trying to diagnose the problem myself for a a couple months. So, I decided I wanted some professional diagnostic advice and called on 1//30/2013. The lady who answered was nice, the response was almost immediate (even thought I didn't realize it was being classified as an emergency). So, the plumber was here about an hour and we talked through my previous diagnostics that I had performed, along with his ideas (which were minimal). The only real diagnostic performed was a water pressure test on my house water pressure. I watched him do this test and saw the reading myself on his guage, which we took twice on two different outdoor water faucets. The guage read 100 psi. The plumber told me this was way too high and that my PRV was in need of replacement, regardless of whether this was related to the knocking sounds in the laundry room pipes (mostly hot water pipe). So, this repair was going to be over $300 and include me cutting through my wall downstairs to put in an access panel to the PRV. Also, we talked about moving the PRV and the on/off valve up a few feet so I could dry wall the hole back in and have the whole thing in a better more accessible place for the future. So, I suspect, chances were, that I would have wound up paying much more than the $319 he quoted when any additional work or problems were encountered. So, I told him that he was the expert and if my PRV was bad, then it was bad and I needed to get it replaced regardless. So, I asked him to check St. Charles county and Ofallon rules on placement of this PRV and related "stuff" so if we moved it a few feet we would be legal. He didn't know the answers, but upon my request said he would find out. Then, I paid the $125 fee by check and the plumber left, after just talking with me and reviewing the options, giving estimate of $319, and giving me a reading of 100psi on the water pressure in my home. So, on Sunday (the next day). I had the drywall saw ready to go to start cutting up my wall and installing an access panel, and just thought I should check this myself, because this doesn't really make sense to me. I just found it hard to believe, so I went to the store and bought my own water pressure guage/tester. I came home and tested the water from the same two outdoor faucets that the plumber used the day before (about 3:00 PM test time). I also tested it from a 3rd outdoor faucet on my house. So, all three faucets tests at 70 psi at about 1:00 PM Sunday. I went in the house and made sure no one was using any water and that NO water of any kind was in use and told everyone to NOT use water, flush a tiolet, etc. I went back outside and tested all 3 faucets again and got 70 psi consistently again. Then, I went to two different neighbors houses: one house 3 doors down and one across the street. Both of the neighbors houses tested at 70 psi also. Therefore, I considered my tests valid and my guage as accurate. This meant that the readings by the plumber had to be wrong (bad guage, I guess). So, I called the office number and the lady said she should have the plumber call me the next today. Now, Monday, the plumber called in the morning and I called him back and told him everything stated above. He agreed that his guage must be defective. I asked him to come by and confirm the psi, since he had given me wrong information and nearly cost me a VERY expensive and unneeded repair. I also told him to just cancel our plans for the new PRV etc. He did not respond to my request to perform a valuabe reading on psi. One noteworthy point: the plumber told me that he goes through quite a few of these guages per year and they "go bad". So, that makes this story more amazing, that you would risk my hundreds of dollars on very faulty equipment readings - really bad character and poor credibility and ethics, besides professionalism. So, what this tells me is that your company is not professional overall and can't be trusted. Not only was the only diagnostic of 100psi wrong, it wasn't double checked (and triple checked, considering the admission about faulty equipment frequency). So, how can you go to a persons home and charge them $125, where the MAIN diagnostic (and only diagnotic) provided was completely wrong and setting me up for a very expensive repair, from which you were going to profit? Then, not even offer to AT LEAST give me a true reading with professional value on the psi in my home! I'm just amazed. Not ethical or professional - to say the least. I'm very diasappointed. I do not mind paying for professional quality service; afterall, I immediatly agreed to the PRV replacement, and readily paid the $125 for the wrong diagnosis. I have no faith in your company and will be letting my friend know (who referred me) that it was not a high quality and professional experience.

Tried to update our bathroom and soon found that we were over our heads. We call Precision Plumbing and they responded the same day. Their representative was able to us get up and running in no time. (Should have called them in the first place.) They are responsive, efficient and professional. The young man that was here was courteous and a gentleman. We will use them again.

They were very friendly, I just got a better "Big Deal" from another plumber on Angies List.

On first attempt, contractor gave quote to complete the job. Then I got a call that the snake was not long enought and that I would have to increase to price to get a longer snake. I asked to speak to a manager. That was not necessary, the truck came with the longer snake a day later, but still could not get the job done. I was then told that there was a piping problem underground and that is why they did not succeed. After being fed up I let them go. The next day I called a different contractor who succeeded on first attempt for much less than half the price of Precision Plumbing. They were high price and still could not accomplish the job.

We used this provider because of a Big Deal through Angie's List. Always good to get a water heater flushed occasionally. He responded very quickly to set up an appointment, was timely, thorough, and polite--and a little chatty. One of the sump pump output connections came apart after he was there--we had someone else attach it because it came off when I tried to reattach it, too.

I had been in contact with my landlord who was out looking for another fridge since that one had conked out. When he heard that the job wasn't finished and I could not use the sink, he called the plumber he usually used. Those men came out and I explained the problem. They said they would have to flush the drain from the roof, since my house sits on a slab. Within 30 minutes, the sink was open and they were done. They charged $152 for the job. (I had already paid Precision $179. I was just so relieved that I wouldn't have to pay the $359, after all. Later that afternoon I called Precision and told them I would not need Kent to come back. I explained what my landlord had done. I was hoping I would be able to get some of my money back, since the job wasn't completed and I had gotten someone else to finish it. The young lady I spoke with said she would have to ask the owner and she would call me back on Friday. I must say at that point, I really did not hold out much hope of getting anything back. I called Precision back early afternoon today and the young lady apologized that she hadn't got back to me. She then informed me that I would be getting my entire check back in the mail. I was stunned, and said but what about the service call? She said he couldn't finish the job, and that I had to pay someone else to do it, so the owner. She indicated, however, that Kent had been compensated for his effort by the company. I am so impressed with this company's honesty and fair practices. I was very happy with the personalized service. They cleaned up and were very informational.

They worked out fine. They came and did what I paid them to do so they were fine. They came out the next day after I called them. It was exactly what they said it was going to cost, there was not any more. I will use them again.

I is two months later and my water heater works great and I have a magnet in case I need them again.

When he was there, he had to make two trips to the hardware store. He was a very reasonable with his rates. He was a nice guy. The service was perfect! I would have him back in a minute. I continue to recommend his services.

They have all done really terrific. They are really prompt. When our sump pump went out they came that day. It was on a Saturday. Their service is great and they are all really professional.

He was able to fix the problems that 2 other plumbers were not able to solve across a span of 5 years, and his price was reasonable. Overall, it was excellent. He is very straightforward and explained things in way that really made sense.

Because it is a company and they have overhead costs the quote was quite a bit more than the individual plumber that we used. The guy that came out was very professional and he knew what he was doing and talking about. He talked their company up quite a bit but the price was just too much.

The service turned out terrible. They basically came out took a look at the work and they never came back. They did not return phone calls or emails after this time.

The gentleman that came out was great. He was very professional, the service he provided was very good, and I would use them again.

The service was fine. They were courteous, did the work, and cleaned up after themselves. They did charge the same amount of the quote even though it turned out the work was a smaller job than anticipated. I wish they would have worked with the price. In fairness I did accept the quote because I did not know what it would take to do the work. The work has held up and I am happy with that.

I called Precision Plumbers to have someone install a new bathroom drain and faucet. The plumber (Dan) arrived on schedule and gave me an estimate for the work. Dan had al the necessary tools to complete the job. Both projects took about two hours to complete. Dan was very knowledgeable and presented himself as very professional. I think Dan did an excellent job. I liked the fact that when he arrived, he placed covers over his shoes to protect our house. The next day, I noticed that the new faucet drain was leaking. I called Precision Plumbers and requested Dan to stop by and fix the leak. When Dan returned, he removed the problem drain, cleaned it and reinstalled it. The next day, I noticed the drain was still leaking. I called the faucet manufacture and they told me that other customers have reported the same problem. The manufacture sent me a replacement drain. I called Precision Plumbers again and explained the situation. Dan came back for the third time and installed the replacement drain. Happy to say ? everything is working great! Dan told me that his work in guaranteed and he would not stop until the work is done right. Thank you Dan ? your company should be proud to have such a great employee!

it took 7 hours to finsh job (witch was way to long) WHEN FINSHED THE SHOWER DID NOT WORK RIGHT/WITCH HAVE ME CALLING SOMEONE ELSE TO FIX IT. AND THE PRICE WAS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

Dan arrived right on time for the early day visit. He was professional and most helpful. He did a complete water heater flush and informed me what all was being done and why. Then he inspected the sump pump and pointed out the corrosion that could cause the pump not to work properly in a few more years but was still fine for now. Then he checked my water pressure both before and after going through the flow regulator. And, he even took a look at the toilet in my guest bathroom and advised me what to do next spring when I replace that lower grade toilet with one of higher quality. This work was easily worth over $200 and Precision Plumbers lost quite a bit on this visit. But, now I know what high quality work this company performs and the quality of their employees. I won't have to guess who to call when I want some work done in the future and who to call if an emergency plumbing situation occurs.
