Description of Work: They had to replace a valve in the water line of our Samsung refrigerator. Unfortunately, that burned out the ice maker. They were very prompt and told me that it might cause this. They also said if the ice maker didn't work after fixing the valve, I would not have to pay for the service call to fix the ice maker. They are true to their word, very prompt, provide great communication and are very professional. Their service call is higher then most, but the service they provide is well worth it!

Description of Work: It took over 3 months to get our refrigerator fixed. They replaced the compressor two different times. It took a month to get it fixed, becasue they would come once a week. It took them two times to figure out what they needed to do, and then it would take them over a week to get the part. What happened to two day delivery. Then a couple of weeks again the refrigerator quit working again, so we had to go through the whoe process again. Two weeks later that compressor quit again, so we had to wait again two weeks or more to get it fixed. Again it took a whole week or more for them to get the part. At that point you would have thought that LG could have sent the part with overnight delivery. So what started the first of November did not finally get fixed until the end of January.

+ -1 moreMy electric dryer was not working. I called Cook's and was told that it would be $130 service call. All you pay for other than that is parts. And I asked if the dryer could not be fixed, would I still be charged that much money for driving down the road a piece? She said yes. She did say they could give a $50 credit to buy something from them. This just sounded like a bad deal. The woman I spoke to was very polite and professional. That amount of money just seemed very high for a service call. Plus, dryers are pretty cheap brand new. This is all I have to say. No A B C D F.
Description of Work: They answered my phone call and I spoke to the woman who answered. Nothing else.

+ -1 moreRepair tech. arrived when promised. Diagnosed problem quickly. Part was placed on order. 1 week estimated delivery time. After 10 days I inquired. They said part was received but they had incorrect phone number and didn't put much effort into contacting me (my number is in the book). They scheduled part installation but didn't show. I inquired. They apologized and said I was just a "dropped ticket". The part price was 50% above sears catalog price. Not a real bad situation but the business just lacks professionalism.

+ -1 moreCook's service technician (Alex) was very professional and worked at it until the problems were resolved. I think that the pricing is set up as a gamble for the customer--the risk is passed on mostly to the customer and there should be some adjustment when there is a simple fix like my refrigerator which only needed a tube and nut tightened up. I suppose if a major overhaul was required, I would come out ahead on labor but I am sure the parts would make it prohibitive. I am willing to pay for the work involved and would rather see a different pricing structure. .
Description of Work: Repaired Samsung Dishwasher and GE RefrigeratorHad intially called another firm to do the dishwasher repair and they could not do it after looking at the dishwasher for an hour and suggested Cooks. Cooks arrived when scheduled and spent about 2 hours taking apart the dishwasher to discover some plastic pieces in the pump which had made it inoperable. He cleaned these out and tested it and it is working fine now except that it still doesn't clean as well as it should, but that appears to be a Samsung problem. It now cleans bettter than it did. I will not get another Samsung Dishwasher. After making the initial call to Cooks we had to call again to have our refrigerator fixed. It was leaking water from underneath and we could not determine where it was coming from. This was about a 15 minute fix. It is working fine now. The lady at Cooks told us what the charges would be--$129.95 for the first appliance and $109.95 for the second. When I expressed concern about the pricing, I was informed that this would be for all the labor involved--not just the service call and that parts would be extra. We needed the work done and quickly and that was accomplished. No parts were required luckily for my repairs.

+ -1 moreI bought appliances at Metro Builder's Supply in Springfield and discovered that Cooks is their recommended repair company. Since the warranty work they did went so well, I called them again when my dryer stopped heating. The same technician came as had come for the prior warranty work. He was able to arrive within 24 hours of my request for service, inspected the dryer, found the problem, and had the part on his truck. After installing the new part, he thoroughly cleaned the dryer and left the area clean. I am happy with the work done and the professionalism of this technician.
Description of Work: The most recent work Cook's did for me was a dryer repair. I have had the same technician, Tom, repair a cooktop recently. I also had Cooks do washer and dryer repairs previously.

+ -1 moreOverall the experience was horrible. Very unprofessional. As a follow up to find out if I could get any of my money back we spoke with the owner. Complete waste of time. Did not care in the least and was very rude. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: My refrigerator stopped cooling. An older gentleman showed up same day in a personal vehicle with no logos. He unscrewed the back panel off of my refrigerator and told me the compressor was bad. He charged me $130 and said the entire job would be over $700 to fix. If I used their company then my $130 would be taken off the total cost. He did not test it or hook a metering device to it. He was at my home for a total of 15 minutes. I called the company I work for and had them take my refrigerator to our shop to test it. 5 minutes and $15 later for a transformer my refrigerator was perfect. I had already purchased another refrigerator trusting that for that kind of money they knew what they were doing. The refrigerator is used at the shop now and is still working perfectly. We used to recommend this company to people......never again.

+ -1 moreThey work on different appliances. They were great. Their price is always good. They come out as quickly as possible. It seems to me that whenever an appliance breaks, you need to be using that so somebody needs to come out pretty fast. They are very good. I have never had to wait over a day for them to have someone out for me. One of the things I really like about them is that their people seem to really know what they are talking about. I have a front loading machine and I was using too much soap in it. The guy was able to tell me that and show me exactly how much I should be using. He explained to me that more soap did not mean cleaner clothes. It just means more soap. He was exceedingly knowledgeable. Now my soap lasts forever because I am using a lot less and the clothes are just as clean. The new machines don't need hardly anything. It's amazing. I was clogging stuff up because I was using too much. I always found Cook's to be very very knowledgeable.
