Climate Control Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

It was very good. I had five estimates and they were all relatively close but I wanted to deal with someone north of the river and with the equipment they used. They came in and did everything fine and it was good. Everything is fine.

We initially had Climate Control come out to do an estimate. About four years ago, they had done some HVAC work for us. We were pleased with their price and their work. But then we were informed recently that they had not put a return duct in a room which should have had one. When we complained that we should not be charged full price for another service call along with the installation when the duct should have been put in on the initial work order a few years back, the salesman, Scott, was quite flippant and egotistical when he replied, "What do you expect, for us to go out of business? I have to charge you the full price." We did not appreciate his attitude or his response. He had also told us on the phone that he would be bringing a home show coupon to get a heating maintenance done for a better price. When he arrived for our appt he said, "Oh, they didn't have the coupon ready. I'll make sure you get that price." We are not confident the price we rec'd was really the coupon price. Scott's entire attitude was totally unprofessional. When the technician, Stacy, arrived the following week, we were impressed with his professionalism and demeanor. However, we still have a bad taste in our mouth for the way we were treated by Scott. The technician, Stacy, said he needed the coupon, but we didn't have it. Stacy wasn't even told about the price we had been quoted by Scott. Stacy also recommended other work be done. We chose to have him do some of it but are wondering if it "really needed to be done" or if the company was trying to get more money. Total honesty and professionalism from the beginning of the experience until the end makes such a difference. Would we use this company again? We are not sure.

Very good. Summer airconditioning bills were averaging $100+ lower than friends who historically had the same electric bill $ that I did. Better circulation of air and temperature consistency in the upstairs rooms.

Furnace blower had broken, leaving the fan running continuously. I renewed my Angie's list subscription to search for a reputable heating/ac company. They came out and diagnosed the problem the day I called, said we could fix it for only a couple hundred dollars but he recommended probably replacing it. Said an installation rep would be out saturday to give us an estimate. Scott McKinley turned up when expected and took some measurements, answered my questions and gave me an estimate for a new furnace and also for a matched set. He explained the MGE rebate for the furnace and also that KCPL would come out to do an efficiency check on our air conditioner and that we could get a $650 rebate if our A/C was determined to be not running efficiently. We qualified for that rebate and after our reduced price, I requested a senior citizen discount which Scott was able to negotiate for us--they don't actually HAVE a senior discount but Angie's list said they did, so Scott worked hard to honor that. I did lots of research on the units they proposed to install, was pleased with what I found so I had them out that next friday to install. Installation progressed with many snags and problems arising that Matt and Brian solved with a great attitude. It took hours longer than expected but they stayed until it was all done, cleaned up, running smoothly and they were never anything but professional and friendly, answering my questions and explaining everything they were doing. It was a great experience and if my heating and cooling bills improve even a portion of what they estimated, I should be in great shape. Thanks to everyone I dealt with at Climate Control, especially Scott, for being honest and straightforward and informative.

This was an exceptional experience. The estimator arrived on time, was very professional, VERY thorough, and wrote everything down. He also gave estimates on two or three different systems with different capabilities. Even though we didn't use them in the end, I cannot say enough good things about this company.

I hired them to install all of the ductwork for my basement finish project. Scott came out within a couple of days to give me an estimate. He helped me layout where to install supply and return registers and showed me exactly what work they would perform. I decided it was worth it to pay a little bit extra to hire a company that I knew would do a good job. After I hired them they showed up on time and completed the work in less than a day. Scott came out a few days later to check the work and make sure that I was happy. The installer had accidentally left the wrong register covers and Scott had to swap them out for the higher quality ones that we discussed when he provided the bid. They did a great job and I would hire them again.

The heat had gone out so we called Climate Control as they had done repairs for us in the past, including this same issue. It was after hours so they informed us that there would be an increased charge just to come out and give a diagnosis in the amount of $105. The man came out and determined within about 2 minutes that the furnace ignitor had gone bad and needed to be replaced. So he did replace it, in about 5 minutes time. The charge for the less than 10 minutes of work was $463. $105 for the visit plus $358 for an ignitor. They had done this same service for us 2-3 years prior for the exact same problem and had charged $180-200. Since this was over double what we had paid for the exact same service in the past, I called around to other area businesses the next day to see if these fees were on par. I found, to no surprise, that these fees were nearly three times higher than what others would have charged. I also looked into how hard it was to change out the furnace ignitor in the future and have come to find that it is an incredibly easy procedure. And to top it off, the part that I was charged $358 for, I am able to purchase from any number of internet vendors for $25. That's a fourteen-fold increase on the part, and I'm not talking about a similar part, this is the exact same item from the same manufacturer. (I matched the numbers and manufacturer off of what they installed) I understand that the business needs to charge a premium for items to make money, but over 14 times what the part costs? And you know they get these things cheaper than we can so $25 is probably still less than what they pay. Charge me 3-4 times the actual price of the part at most, you are already charging me $105 for the visit. They did fix my problem, and had it not been so unseasonably cold, I might have been able to wait until the next day and shop around. With small children waiting to restore heat isn't an option. In the end, I feel that for 10 minutes worth of work that included the use of a $25 replacement part, that a $463 charge is incredibly unfair and dishonest. I hope other people will take what they will from my experience with this company.

We have a contract with them. They increased their prices a while ago and decreased it later, after we talked to them. We have been using them for a while now. They come out and work on the furnace. They found a leak in the furnace, seven years ago. They replaced the furnace and we have been using them ever since. Once we had strange things happening with the furnace. They came out within 30 minutes to attend to the problem. They are punctual, knowledgeable and always seem to know what needs to be done. However, we think they are very expensive. We had contacted other companies and we found that they are as expensive as Climate Control. We will continue to use them.

Terrific experience. Very professional. Arrived promptly and wore booties. Spent a considerable amount of time reviewing our system and evaluating our concerns (cold spots in house). No charge for the evaluation! Highly recommend.

They were professional, responsive and punctual. I would use them again in the future if needed.

They were very professional and very knowledgeable. We found them through Angie?s List. They showed up at the time they said they would and cleaned up after themselves. There were some nails left, but they came back.

I have been using them probably for twenty years. They have put in central air heating system with the heating pump around six years back. They are very punctual, they come out when they said they will come. I had to call them in the night around 2'o clock on thanks giving day because I had a problem, they promptly came out and fixed the problem. They are very expensive.

Dave explained and showed me my problem with relay handler. My system is 17 years old and he suggested I could replace my contractor or invest in a new system. Will see sellsman later today. Am considering what to do.

Overall I was pleased with the work. My only complaint with was when the scheduling person did not contact me personally and the techichains showed up at time when no one was schedule to be home.By chance my housemate was home.

The guys that came out made some mistakes. They broke our fence but they were great about paying someone to fix it. They came back to make sure there wasn't any other problems. They were friendly and punctual. Their price was competitive.

So far so good! I haven't found anything negative that I know of.

The representative informed me that they sent a man out in the fall of 2007 to give an estimate on a Trane system. (I did not realize it was the same company). When I told him the price he quoted was, too high, he said they had lowered prices. He did not provide any other quotes for different systems, nor take time to explore alternatives. He gave a price for putting on an end cap, and said if we went with his company for the new unit, they would replace the end cap for free. I felt manipulated into going with an estimate for a system I had decided against.

Although not a "high profile" job, they showed up on time, did the inspections, made no mess, and charged a fair price. Can't ask for more. Also, very pleasant to deal with. What a refreshing experience.

I spoke with 3 people from the company (the man who set up the appointment, a women calling to tell me the service man was on his way and the workman), all were very professional but also very friendly. Setting up the appointment was very easy. We have two large, loud (but friendly) dogs that we try to keep away from work people because they can be intimidating. But I had to move them from the basement to a different room, and the workman was fine with it and very nice to the dogs (one barks and the other sniffs and licks). I know that seems small, but it is nice when service people don't make you feel embarrassed by your pets. And the work that was done was fast, and he made sure to explain what had happened and what he would do to fix it. After the work was done, he made sure to explain that some chemicals were used, not to let the dogs or our daughter in the backyard until it was dry. And he suggested, not at all in a pushy way, that our furnace was getting old enough that it probably needs to get it maintained once a year. Hey, I was glad to hear that now rather than down the road when it broke! He also did a great job answering my questions, in a way I could understand. Overall, a fantastic experience and will use them again and tell friends and family to use them.

We purchased a 100 year old home in November, and did not know the age of the furnace. We are assuming it is well over 10 years old. Climate Control made their second trip out on a cold morning after our furnace quit overnight. Once again, they diagnosed the problem and had it repaired in a matter of an hour. We also purchased the 1-year maintenance package, which includes 3 service trips and 2 maintenance/cleaning calls, which was included in the $450 we paid. Additionally, Climate Control handled all of the negotiations with our home warranty company for this call.

Everything was installed in one day. Job well done.

They are very quick to get back to me, give you a bid, and get the work done in a very thorough manner. They left everything clean. I trusted their recommendation.

They are great! I would highly recommend them.

I'm happy and will continue to use them.

The first service person did not have the necessary expertise, so he called in for reinforcements who got the job done. We came home from work that day to a nice new furnace and warm house.
