The people at Climate Control were quick to return my calls and set up an appointment to give me an estimate the next day. The salesman was professional and knowledgeable. Installation was quick and easy and went as scheduled with the exception noted below. Installers were clean and courteous and always put on "booties" when entering the house. They even diagnosed and repaired a minor issue with one of my furnace blowers that they noticed when completing installation!! I only have two minor complaints. First, after I signed the contract, installation was set for the next Monday. On Friday, I got a call that they had to push back installation until Wednesday due to a large commercial installation that they had to complete. Not a huge deal as I was able to rearrange my schedule to do this, but it was frustrating. That's why I gave a "B" for punctuality. Second, even though I tried to tell everyone that would listen, they still have my name wrong on all the paperwork and in their records.!

My mother's air conditioner quit working on June 13. I gave her the phone number of a couple of companies from Angie's List. She called the first one and said they would not be able to get out until next week. She then called Climate Control and they said they would have someone in the area the next day. They said he would be out some time between 8AM and 4PM the next day. They called a little after 10AM and said they were on the way. I had looked at the system the day that it failed but had no way of diagnosing the problem. John Brumfield was very polite and proceeded to diagnose the problem. When he went into the house he even put on little blue booties. He determined that the outside fan motor was not working and the capacitor for it was bad. He gave my mom about six different options. I asked if they had a seniors discount. John said they had but discontinued it. I pointed out that they still showed a seniors discount on Angie's list website. He agreed on the spot to allow the discount. She chose one of the less expensive options. John had a fan motor and capacitor in his truck so he then went ahead with the work. He had the system up and running in a little over an hour. From the time he arrived to the time he left was about 2 hours. John said he had worked for the company about three years and that he enjoyed the work. The price also included a year's membership in their Comfort Club which provides for two service checkups in the following year. Overall, Mom and I were very satisfied with the work. It did seem a little expensive but it was worth it to get the system up and running so quickly.

This was a great experience from the first contact. Comfort Specialist/Salesman Scott arrived right on time for the scheduled system evaluation/estimate. He did a thorough inspection of the existing system to determine possible reasons for failure. He then calculated the correct system capacity needed by using the houses square footage and number of windows. He also looked into the attic to see if there were problem areas that needed to be addressed for optimum system performance. He then was able to sit down at his computer and provide me with an estimate on the spot before leaving. Later when I had questions and was considering a bid at a lower price point, he arranged to come back out to the house to explain in more detail what they had planned for our installation and why it would be beneficial to our home. Once I accepted the bid, Scott was able to schedule an install crew for the day I desired. On install day, Dave (the business owner) and Dan arrived at 8:00, joined slightly later by Scott to go over the planned installation. All wore booties over their shoes while inside, and Dave immediately put plastic down to protect the carpet in the areas that they would be working. Dave worked hard to get our AC going that day, but ran into an electrical problem that he was unable to solve. He and Dan worked hard until 7:00 pm, but finally had to give it up for the day after apologizing for the inconvenience. The very next day at 8:00 Dave was back on the job, he brought in a senior electrician who was able to troubleshoot the electrical snafu to a shorted wire. From there Dave was able to get our system on and cooling, then he finished up the remaining duct modifications and humidifier hookup. After all work was complete he went through the paperwork and thermostat operation with me before leaving at 5:00 pm. Everyone I came in contact with was very professional, polite, punctual, knowledgeable, and hard working. Their price may be higher than some competitors, but I believe the service they provided was worth the extra cost. We've been enjoying greatly improved performance from the new system.

Finding myself at home recovering from a medical event in Feb, I decided to get things done around the house. One on the list was an HVAC service, since I knew we had missed the annual servicing in ?12. I could not find the file for our regular HVAC people. After checking on the internet, I decided upon Climate Control Heating and Cooling, in Liberty, Mo. I set the service appointment and the technician came out and did a regular tune-up on the system. Upon leaving, Travis advised me that because he had cleaned the blower and that it had been very dirty, it would be making an extra loud sound because the blower would be pulling harder now that it no longer had dirt. However, he said, after a few days it will settle down. I?m not knowledgeable about motors and such so I thought nothing of it. Boy WAS it LOUD. It sounded like a jet engine. After a week of this and other problems, I called Gene at Climate Control and told him that the sound of the blower was still very loud, the thermostat had been behaving quite erratically since the tune-up and that the whole system was cycling very awkwardly. I was concerned because none of these issues, nor any others, had been in the system prior to the tune-up. Gene assured me that he would send someone right out. The second technician, Justin, came out and said that he and the first technician, Travis, had spoken about the blower and that Travis could take care of it. He spent some time with our HVAC system and then came upstairs to tell me that the blower was just about shot and that we need to replace it either now or sometime really soon as it was just about shot. Travis gave me quotes of about $800 to replace the blower. The system continued to work erratically and with problems, which I thought highly suspicious considering there had been no problems prior to the tune-up. After further searching, I finally found the name of the trusted HVAC people that we had used before and decided that I really needed a second opinion about the NEW problems having arisen in our system. To negate any comments that Climate Control of Liberty might counter with ( i.e.that?s just a competitor bad-mouthing us), I also called a friend of mine who is an HVAC construction engineer to FIRST give his opinion. He came and looked at the system and determined that the blower was just fine. The fine folks at Arctic Air had arrived while my friend was still here. My HVAC engineer friend and Arctic Air tech discussed that the blower was operating very well. Arctic Air tech took the front panel off and immediately saw what the problem was: in the basic hook-ups, our system had been re-hooked into something other than the Heat Speed Relay causing the blower to not cycle as it should. So, two technicians from Climate Control of Liberty, came out and our system was reset in a very basic way, so that the blower would 5401 appear as if it were malfunctioning and needed replacing.
Description of Work: Annual tune-up followed up by reported problems created from the tune-up. Second call and inspection of first tune-up with recommended blower replacement.

However any post that is posted should be 100% accurate or not posted at all. This post is very damning and based on information provided I can’t even follow with them to attempt reconciliation. It appears to me that if I really wanted to I could sign up as an Angie’s list member, pay my fee and then I could start writing reviews about any company I wanted. Using any name I want and just say yea that person lives with me. My request is that you hold the member accountable to 100% accuracy or remove the post. Description of Work: Climate Control has done work for us on four different occasions. The last time they were here in 2011, we were very dissatisfied and wrote this on a review on Angie's List. We felt the sales person and the workman were not honest with us and had us do work that was really not necessary. Recently, it appeared that something was wrong with our heat pump. My husband went to Angie's List to find a new HVAC company since we had been so unhappy with Climate Control. He noticed that the owner had replied to our review asking us to phone. He wanted to resolve our issues. My husband was impressed and thought we should give him another opportunity. He spoke directly with the owner who said he would personally come to look at what was done while our issue with our heat pump would also be diagnosed. On the morning of our appointment, John and Mark arrived promptly at our home. Mark, one of the top employees, indicated that the owner was unable to come, but sent him to review the situation. Mark indicated that the workman who convinced us to do certain things on the last visit was, in fact, in error. He came back on another day and took care of the issues that were created because of the mistake. We were so impressed with his thoroughness and the apologies for what should never have been done. John diagnosed our problem with the heat pump. The crew showed up on time and were well equipped to do the job. I watched every move from start to finish -- these guys know what they are doing, it was definitely not their first rodeo. They had the right tools for every step of the way and even had the workflow designed to make best use of every trip out to the truck (e.g., they would bring what they needed to get started, then on the way back to get more, they would take debris from the work done so far back to the truck. This kept the work area reasonably clean and made room for the new items coming in the door. ) The workmanship was fantastic. The equipment was installed in a professional manner. They took extra time to properly level, align and secure the equipment -- fully expected but it was nice to see the perfection of the completed job. They installed changes to make the airflow more efficient in both the discharge and the return air duct. They kept the wiring neat and organized and securely fastened it with zip ties. They replaced ALL of the junction boxes, the circuit breaker and installed a surge protector for the condenser unit. They fully demonstrated and tested all features to make sure everything was functioning properly and so we'd know how to use the new system (ha...that was the easy part, the thermostat can be operated by a child!) They also replaced our dryer vent (it was previously vented right on top of the AC condenser unit ... now we won't have lint build-up on the AC unit!) When they were done, the work area was cleaned up (actually, our basement has never looked better! They swept the whole thing!) And they removed and disposed of all the old equipment and debris from the install. They even wore baggies on their feet whenever they were in the main living area of the house. There was a minor issue with the humidifier drain but they came right out the next day when I called and they fixed it right away.
Description of Work: Furnace and central A/C replacement. Replaced a 21 year old system due to reliability problems and wanted a more efficient and effective system. We chose the same capacity: an 80,000 BTU/80% furnace and a 3 ton A/C unit, but the new equipment has important energy saving features: namely a 2-stage furnace and a 2-stage A/C compressor, and a variable speed fan. We chose a Trane dealer and equipment mainly because Trane is made in the USA and has a strong reputation for quality and reliability. We also replaced our humidifier with one that operates with less water but is much more effective than the one we had previously. The new system also has a UV light to help purify the air as well as a MERV 16 5" filter that we only need to change once a year. Also we opted for the programmable thermostat that also is accessible via our smartphones/iPads -- this seemed frivolous at first but I frequently find myself setting back the temp while we are out (or before we leave if I can remember), so I think it will pay for itself over time. The thermostat is multi-function, allowing us to display/adjust humidity, fan, temperature and also see outside temp and forecast.

The technician arrived on time and spent a full hour cleaning and testing the furnace. I have payment plan with Climate Control, for 2 cleanings a year, spring AC and fall furnace. I know I might be able to save a little on that by paying at the time of service, but I like not having to worry about the cost. They installed the AC unit several years ago. So when it came time to have the furnace cleaned, I called them. The technician installed a filter bracket in the furnace at no charge. The was not one when it was first installed, and I had a make shift shim holding the filter in place. He offerred me the service contract instead of paying the full fee for the current visit. Each subsequent cleaning has been great, arriving on time, and performing quality work. I have had other companies in the past with the 10 min "everything'sfinehere'syourbill" service.

My a/c went out this morning and I was searching frantically for someone who could come out today. I called this company and spoke with Gene; he told me he could try but no guarantees but could definitely get me tomorrow. He continued to ask me what I had noticed about the system and offered some suggestions. I did tell him to schedule me but that I was going to continue looking for someone to come today. Long and short, I did find a company to come today and when I called Gene back to cancel my appointment he was so kind and not perturbed or upset that I was canceling. He did ask that I remember him next time I needed service, and I definitely will!

Our air conditioner quit cooling mid-morning during the 100+ degree days we were having. I called a couple of places but everyone was booked. I checked Angie's List, found this company, and phoned them. The gentleman was very helpful; he had me perform a few diagnostic tasks while we were on the phone. When he determined that service was needed, he checked schedules and felt that he had a person who could come yet the same day. A few hours later, a technician called to say he was on the way. The man who came was very profession and polite. He even put paper booties on his shoes! My husband took him outside to the unit; within a couple of minutes, he knew the capacitor was out and needed to be replaced. He had one with him, installed it, and then made sure the a/c began cooling again. All in all, he was only with us 15 minutes or less.The part was $101, the service call was $89, minus the $20 coupon we printed from Angie's List. We will definitely call them again.

When a company sells and repairs the same equipment, you have to be wary of negative assessments. The repairman had us leave the AC off all day before coming over in the late afternoon, and gave a repair estimate of several thousand. However, he advised that our system was probably nearing the end of its life expectancy and was definitely too small for the house, and arranged for the salesman to come out that evening; mo. The salesman was pleasant enough, but gave estimates for a new system starting at $9500 (up to $26000). There was a lot of pressure to buy, in an already-hot house, and they left the AC fuse unplugged so the house continued to cook overnight. The next day we had a purely repair-oriented service come, who found and fixed our problem for just $300. He also pointed out that our system was properly sized for our house, and showed no sign of nearing the end of its lifespan. I can't speak to the quality of their work, since they didn't do much, and they were definitely available on a holiday Friday afternoon and evening. Yet their slick methods and hard-sell mentality definitely comes out as dishonest after our $300 repair has been problem-free for the following 2 weeks.

At 5:30 am, we discovered that our furnace went out over night. We called at 7:30 and someone was here by 8:30. We were told our unit could be fixed, but with the cost of the part and the labor involved, we would be close in price to a new unit. Our's was very old, so we opted to replace it. It was expensive, but feel Climate Control treated us fairly. We have 6 month old twins and needed to make sure we had heat again ASAP. When my husband explained that to the technician, he said they could try to work out something temporarily for us if they couldn't get a new unit the same day. We did get a new furnace installed the same day. They were courteous, prompt, and neat. We'd recommend them.

They were wonderful. They helped me over the phone before they came. They didn’t make me pay for house calls. They asked me specific questions to find out what was wrong with the heater. They told me what they thought was wrong and asked me if I wanted them to come and take a look. I was very pleased with that. When they came, they did a thorough job. They were very pleasant and very courteous. They allowed me to call my husband to make sure it was alright to spend the money as there was something wrong with the heater and we didn’t have heat. On top of that both of my sons had used this group. My youngest son had his heater went out this week and they allowed him to put a new heater in his house as it didn’t need to be replaced and to do it on a budget plan. They were excellent, gorgeous and they were absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend them. Heating and cooling is not a cheap business. It was part that needed to be replaced and they charged for the part as well as they had a fee to come out which I thought was a little bit high but when I got to think about it they had to travel everywhere and they had to pay for their workers to get here so I think that their price was reasonable. They are not cheap but they are not too expensive and they are reasonable. Their responsiveness was great as they came when they said they were going to come and they called before they came. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. I also brought a maintenance plan from them and also for my sons. They charged $500 as it was an expensive part that needed to be replaced.
Description of Work: I used Climate Control for repairing the heater last week.

Our A/c unit stopped working on Saturday 9/3 and, when I checked the outside unit, the fan wasn't moving and there was an electrical burning smell. I pulled the electrical disconnect out to cut power to the unit and turned it off at the thermostat. Then I called Climate Control. They answered immediately. I told them what had happened but told them it was not an emergency since the outside temp was going to be in the 70's and low 80's over the weekend and we could get by (we mostly had the A/C on for the allergy sufferers in the house). So we set up an appointment for Monday morning. The tech arrived on time and went right to work. I told him the symptoms and within 15 minutes he'd found the problem (most of that time was to open up the outside unit-lots of screws). He had the part on his truck, quickly replaced it and the unit worked just fine. It took longer to process my credit card and complete the paperwork than it took to fix the problem. I've used Climate Control several times here at my home, my mother-in-laws, and at my investment properties and they've always provided quick, courteous service and everyone is polite and knowledgeable. Their prices are fair and they only fix what needs fixing-they don't perform unnecessary work. I know very little about the workings of furnaces and A/C units-I understand the concept and overall functions but not the details. He could have said that 3 or 4 parts needed to be replaced and I wouldn't have known any different (it's the first time anything's needed replacing on this unit since it was installed 13 years ago). I appreciate their courtesy, honesty, integrity, and professionalism and will use them for all my heating and A/C needs.
Description of Work: Replaced capacitor on outside A/C unit which had overloaded and stopped whole unit from working. Also cleaned fins on unit of debris by high pressure spray of water.

.When I called Climate Control the person who answered was very courteous and professional. I was able to get an appointment for the next morning. The technician was a little late but he was very polite and got straight to work. He got the furnace lit and then checked to make sure it was working properly. He even checked the carbon monoxide level and cleaned some of the parts. When he was finished he gave a information on how to keep the furnace running well and told us about other great services and discounts Climate Control offers. I will definitely be using them again.
Description of Work: We called Climate Control to do a diagnostic on our furnace. We were having trouble getting it lit. There seemed to be a problem with the electric match.The technician was a little late but he was very professional. He took a look at the furnace and found there was very little wrong. There were some loose components that were keeping the furnace from lighting. He took care of that very quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

One Saturday in August, shortly after we had that series of 100-degree days, I noticed our outdoor unit to our air conditioner was not shutting off and the lines were iced up. Tried shutting things down for 12 hours, which got rid of the ice, but otherwise, no change. I looked up providers on Angie's List that offered weekend service (since I knew our "regular guy" we'd used in the past would take at least a full business day or two to "fit us in"... he always does). But this was on Sunday, the next day. I called them. Got their answering service. Within an hour, a lady called and they wouldn't be able to get out until late Monday. I was not home on Monday afternoon, but my wife was. She said the tech that came out was on-time, friendly, and professional. She had asked him to write up a detailed description of what was wrong, because she isn't very good at remembering somewhat-technical details. When I got home, the nice computer-printed report was sitting on the counter and the air was on.The tech had written a detailed description of his troubleshooting, which pointed to a problem with the ignition board for the system. (My own troubleshooting had led me to suspect as much.) The bad news is that it would require a WEEK to get the part! The good news was that the tech had hard-wired around the problem point in the circuit board, as a work-around, so that we could once again get cool air, with the down-side that the INSIDE blower would run 24 x 7 until that circuit board was replaced. Well, that was certainly good-enough for me! I was very pleased that we had a cool house during that one-week wait! Now, I was home when the second tech came out to install the part. He was very professional and polite. The total bill for the repair.... INCLUDING BOTH VISITS to our house... came to just under $450. I thought that was very fair. The one "strange thing" about the whold experience is that they required us to pay HALF that amount on the first day of their visit. The tech had referred to it as "half the cost of the part". At least that's how my wife related it to me. But now I know that, technically, that included the cost for their trips / visits to the house as well. Still, everybody I tell this story to thinks that "paying-half-up-front" part was a little unusual. Oh, one more thing! The second tech located and fixed a problem with the furnace]s gas lines, apparently while going through a check-list of items to check before closing up the unit and leaving for the day. He found that there was a problem (something about the gas line "not being blown out" ?). Apparently, when a buddy of mine swapped out our leaking hot water heater for a new one back in May, he'd forgotten a step. If the tech had NOT noticed and taken care of this, well, when we'd have tried to start up the furnace in the fall, it would NOT have started. And that would have cost us an additional, unnecessary trip charge !! So, Climate Controls nice "finishing-up check-list" helped save us that expense!
Description of Work: They diagnosed why the exterior unit to our air conditioner was running full-time and the interior blower fan was not kicking in. They then ordered and installed a replacement ignition board.

Our air conditioner wouldn't work last night about 7:00. It's a ground source heat pump system and in the past we've had a bit of a problem finding persons who were knowledgeable about them. (The last time we had a problem, a couple of years ago, it took us three weeks to get service.) I found this company on Angie's List before I called them and learned they had an A rating and were familiar with our type of system. I was impressed by their professionalism. They had an answering service instead of voice mail. The girl at the answering service was very professional and a company representative called me back within the hour, even though it was evening. The scheduler called this morning and we arranged for a senior service man to come out. The scheduler gave me a window of time during which she said he would be there. She also said that 30-45 minutes before he came, they would let me know the approximate time of arrival. The visit went exactly as she said. I appreciated that the technician used slippers (not that the house is that clean this time of year with us in and out all the time). I appreciated that he said the system was fine mechanically. (How would we have known if he said otherwise?) He installed a new thermostat to replace our 21-year-old one, and it seems to be working fine. I have no clue what a thermostat would normally cost, so I can't comment on that. However, my overall impression of the company is that they are very professional--I'm sure the cost of the thermostat was competitive, at least. Our last service man insisted that we needed to replace our system (at a cost of around $10,000). We know it's 21 years old, but the Climate Control man said it might last another ten years (or it could last six months). We appreciated his honesty. All in all, we were very impressed by this very professional company.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner wouldn't work last night. The problem could have been either the thermostat or the air conditioning unit itself. We called Climate Control of Liberty, MO (phone number 816-781-1997) , an A-rated company on Angie's List. Less than 24 hours later, we have a new thermostat installed and the system is working beautifully. The company is one of the most professional ones we've ever dealt with.

From the get go the service was great. A sales consultant came to the house and actually measured my house to fit the HVAC to (the 2 other company's did not). Financing was simple and done within 5 minutes. Installers were very friendly and professional. They answered all my questions concerning the system and install. Even fixed a water leak I had at my outside water spicket. I had originally just bought the air conditioner and heater unit but realized I should have got a new water heater as well. They made a call and had it delivered within an hour to install. Best of all they had installed a 2.5 ton unit on accident and called a week later letting me know they had made a mistake (should have had a 3 ton unit). I never would have even noticed but they were honest enough to admit to the mistake and had it swapped out with the correct unit asap. I would highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs!
