Description of Work: They tore out and laid a new driveway. He was not very professional and did not like input. He also does not sign contracts. It took him a long time to clean up his mess. The only positive thing I can say about this company is that the price was good.

Response from All About Concrete
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your experience with my company.I believe the only mess I left was leaving the forms on a little longer than normal because it got cold and I use them for insulation.I have been told that I'm more personal than professional, but most people seem to like that about me.I sign every contract I put out.Sorry if I let one slip by,I can't believe I did,but I must have.I don't recall any input you gave that I ignored,I even threw in the ramp at the curb if you recall.I take a lot of pride in my customer's satisfaction, sorry you were disappointed.

We had two sidewalk problems of long standing. In one place the sidewalk had heaved up because of a tree root so that it no longer met the porch apron. In the second location the sidewalk next to the driveway had sunk over the years so that water and mud accumulated after rain storms. In addition, after about 90 years of life, the concrete retaining walls leading into the garage had shifted somewhat so that they no longer closely met the house. We called Paul at All About Concrete and left a message regarding the work. It took several days for him to get back to us, but he apologized as he had been out of town. He came out and scoped the work and agreed to do all three problems for his minimum size of job, which is $1450. He brought his crew out 3-4 days later and completed the job in 3 days. He dug up the old concrete and set up the frames in one day, poured and finished the concrete on a second, and then came back on a third day after the concrete was dry to remove the frames and clean up. When he was delayed a day because the concrete firm who was delivering to him was diverted by someone to a large job, he called to apologize and to tell us. He called a couple of other times to let us know the status. Both he and his crew were pleasant and good to work with. We are thrilled to have the work done and with such fine finishes. He overcame design challenges creatively and finished quickly. We are very happy with the work.
Description of Work: Dug out, leveled, provided positive drainage position for 2 sections of sidewalk, approximately 4' X 4' each. Designed and constructed a patching of two concrete retaining walls. Placed warning cones during and cleaned up after work.

Getting hold of Paul was easy; setting the day for the job, not so easy, but as explained above, it wasn't a big deal. The job involved shoring up a culvert and replacing the concrete slab of driveway on top of it. They did a terrific job. They also cleared out the ditch around the culvert, which should prevent the situation from occurring again.
Description of Work: Paul and co. were great! They did a very sturdy and professional 'fix' of a serious problem involving a sagging concrete driveway. They did it for much less than my property manager's contractor quoted, and did it quickly, once we had established contact. They also used quick-drying concrete, so that our renters could use the driveway the very next day. The only (very small) quibble I have is that after initial contact, days went by until we were able to get hold of Paul again; but fair enough, really, since the company had other jobs on. We would most definitely use Paul and "All About Concrete" for anything else involving concrete!

I had a water main break and the excavators had to dig up the sidewalk in front of my house. I actually never met anyone from this company, they came out and gave me a bid over the phone. I accepted and they had a crew out within 2 days to do the work. I left them a check in an envelope and they came by a few days later to collect. This wasn't a complicated project, but they handled what I had for them quickly and at a good price. I'll call them again next year to bid on my driveway.

The driveway we had when we moved in (1996) had been there since the house was built (1964) and had broken up and left low areas that collected rain water making just getting to the car an Olympic event. All About Concrete was working a block or so away when I asked the owner to give me a bid on replacement. After the first day they had the old concrete out of the way and the re-bar and forms in place. The concrete came in the next morning and by noon they were packed up and gone. It was discovered that the old driveway had been created by using an end-loader to drag a path through the dirt and then the concrete was poured on the dirt. This made the concrete anywhere from 1 inch thick to 6 inches thick. When All About Concrete had finished they had leveled the ground out, poured in 4 inches of gravel and leveled it off, installed re-bar and tied it into the garage floor, and then poured in 4 inches of heavy concrete. They then sloped the concrete so it wouldn't allow the rain to puddle. Five years later 4 of my neighbors asked for the name and number of the company I used and they all had their driveways done over by All About Concrete this summer at one time. All About Concrete has held the sole contract for the local high school and any concrete that they have to have poured.

The crew, headed up by the owner, Paul Scimemi, arrived promptly each day, worked diligently to complete each stage of the project, maintained an upbeat attitude throughout and never hesitated to address any of our concerns along the way. The finished product looks great and has generated three other jobs in the neighborhood for All About Concrete.
Description of Work: We replaced our driveway and the steps from the driveway leading up to the front stoop. There were three bids received and the one from All About Concrete addressed all of our needs and offered us great timing in order to get the job done.

Many weather delays but the crew tried to work whenever they could. Stayed late, arrived early or called when the weather would not permit them to work.
Description of Work: Poured double wide driveway, 25 ft ramp to backyard, 57 ft retaining wall with seating on top & Drainage system behind, 57'x18' sunken patio with 4 large piers to support a 12'x14' shed at downhill end of patio, 10'x4.5' mower ramp over wall, and a 3 step 6 ft wide back porch, 4 steps over the wall to the yard. Demolitian & removal of old driveway, retaining wall and patio in preparation for pouring new concrete with new larger layout. Great work with perfect finishing that allows the patio to drain properly, no standing water after the rain. Big project during a very rainy May. The crew worked every minute it wasn't raining. Finishing work was excellent on the driveway & ramp as well. We hired them again to work at our rental house. Poured a Double wide drive, repaired garage floor and poured a carport pad next to the house. Removed old single driveway and jack hammered a 7'x6' area inside the garage in order to repair the cracking entryway. This job was $5,000 and was completed in the Spring of 2008.

They were great. They were a really nice bunch of guys. They were efficient, and they knew what they were doing. I would recommend getting a bid from him. If the bid is comparable, then I would go with him.
