We had gathered several bids to have our old driveway removed and a new one poured the summer of 2014 and chose All About Concrete based on a fair bid and overall great reviews on Angie?s List. It was also nice that they were located in a nearby town. The driveway had a side lane for additional parking that extended 3-4 feet down the side of the house for a side door entrance/exit spot. The old drive had not drained correctly and had started heaving in the winter due to water getting underneath the concrete and freezing. We made sure to explain this to Paul who assured us the new drive would drain correctly. The removal of the old driveway was fast and the crew did a very good job of clean up. During the framing process, we noticed that the frame located at the base of the side door was above the bottom edge of the house siding. We contacted Paul and asked about it since that isn?t what you usually see. He assured us it would be fine and not cause any problems. There is a downspout that empties onto the driveway/side area at the corner of the house. We had also requested that a drainage pipe be installed under the driveway to divert the water through a pipe instead of depositing the water directly onto the driveway. Later we would then extend the trench out into the yard and down the natural slope away from the house. We came home to find black corrugated tubing in place, but after the initial downward direction from the downspout, it leveled out then proceeded uphill, all underneath where the concrete was to be poured. Instead of risking that it would be left that way, we went and purchased supplies to put in a drainage system made of sturdier PVC, dug a trench that was deeper and sloped downhill the entire length. We did this by ourselves that night so the concrete could be poured in the morning. Once the driveway was poured and the drainage extended, everything seemed fine. The driveway drained correctly and initially we were happy. A few months later, we started our next project, which was to replace the siding. Several companies gave us siding bids and each one pointed out the old siding was behind the concrete and said that it was a problem and should not have been poured that way. I called Paul and shared this information with him. We had every intention of making the solution a fair one for Paul and never once asked him to fix the situation with no compensation. He stopped by when we were not home and cut a groove along the edge of the side slab area with a concrete saw. He said it would allow the old siding to be removed and the new siding to be slid in. The siding companies said that this was not an option because the old siding would still not come out and the new siding would still be in contact with the concrete. We started doing some research on our own at this point, to see what the accepted guidelines are as far as concrete and wood siding are concerned. A quick Internet search brings up site after reputable site stating clearly that siding should never be in contact with concrete since moisture will just wick out of the concrete into the wood and lead to rot and bug issues. I spoke to Paul and shared with him what the siding companies were saying. We discussed what could be done once the project got started. If after removing the door and surrounding siding, it was clear that the outside concrete would have to be removed, I should call Paul and they could get it taken care of. When the door and siding were removed, it confirmed the outside slab needed removed. The outside concrete was higher than the garage floor one one side, the old siding wouldn?t come out, there wasn?t room to insert new siding, and the small side slab sloped toward the house. After leaving daily messages for two weeks asking Paul to call us back so we could schedule removing the slab, he finally answered on a Saturday. He said he would drop by that day. I was at work, and my wife was not at home either. He didn?t know when he would get there. He may have stopped, but we have no way of knowing. He never called to let us know or give us his opinion on the situation. We think he did because a towel blocking the bottom edge of the door opening was pushed in, but that is all we have to go on. Because the siding work is in its final stages, we rented a concrete saw and jackhammer and removed the side section ourselves. Now we will figure out how to make a new side entrance/exit area that will drain away from the house and be located below the siding and garage floor slab. This will leave the driveway edge several inches above the level of this new area creating an odd transition. This is not what we wanted. While removing the side area, we found 1.5-2 inches of siding below the concrete surface. In addition, the rebar was not embedded in the concrete, but sat underneath it. We can?t help but wonder if that explains why there is already a crack that runs the entire width of the drive about 1 foot in front of both garage doors. The experience was not what we expected from someone rated highly on Angie?s List. We are very disappointed in the lack of communication and the unwillingness to find a solution that works out for both parties.

Response from All About Concrete
You were okay with us going up the siding so we could get the proper drainage without excavating that side of the yard, then you decided to do something different with that door after the fact.I'm sorry you changed the plans, but I can't be expected to come running every time you decide to do something different, that's not part of my guarantee. You expected me to do it for free and I wasn't having anything to do with it. There would have been no problem putting up or taking off the siding,I just saw cut it to make it easier on them.I believe you decided to put a new door in and that is where the problem lied.Remember,it was your idea to go farther into the hill passed the door where the original siding was 2" above your footer for your house, that is why I asked you if we could go up the siding instead of pouring just 2" of concrete on top of it. There is no problem using drain tile for gutters, been doing it for ages...or was that just venting?I'm glad the driveway is working good for you and I'm sorry we disagree on this.Your driveway is still guaranteed for 7 years.

We had used this company in early in the spring to fix our front steps and he did such a great job doing that we decided to have our him replaced the damaged drive way. It been for over a week and it rained twice since it was replaced. Before it was placed we had standing water. Now it runs off to the direction it supposed to and not against the house. 1st day they came in and demoed the old concrete. The 2nd & 3rd Day did the prep work to make sure it going to drain properly and then lay re-bar. Pour concrete and told us to not park on it for week. We had a sidewalk began to sink and we asked if he could fix during this time.He and his crew lifted it up and the add dirt underneath for no charge. They take of the little details and take care of their customers. We have used Angie's List to find several contractors for things and the reviews have been spot on. This guy and his team are the best.

They showed up promptly as scheduled. His team went right to work tearing out the old concrete driveway. Old stuff was hauled away by dump truck and they began working on getting the area ready for the new cement. They were very professional. Had all the equipment they needed to complete the job. It looks absolutely perfect. They also took notice to clean up every detail and to put up caution cones to stop the use of the driveway until properly set. We had neighbors stop and ask about the job already! I would definitely recommend them!! Wonderful job!!

I decided to call All About Concrete for a quote because of all the amazing reviews I found on Angie's List. I am happy about the work he did, however there are a few things I was concerned with. He agreed to match the price of another quote we had received for a complete tear out and rebuild of our front porch ($2,300) along with adding a one lane driveway to a building we have on our property ($1,600). He was supposed to show up on Friday, October 17th first thing in the morning. He never showed up, never called. My husband called him around noon and left a voice mail, as he stayed home that day to oversee the projects that were to have been started that morning. My husband never received a call back from Paul. On Saturday, I decided to call myself because I was concerned and wanted to clarify that we were all on the same page. I never heard back from him on Saturday. Sunday evening I received a call from Paul at around 8:45pm. He explained that he didn't show up because some of his guys decided to sleep in and he had his grandson that day. Paul also told me that the reason he didn't call was because he had told my mother and father in law that he would start Friday, not me. He didn't feel it was necessary to call to inform me. I was bothered by it, but let it go because of the outstanding reviews I had read, I figured it was an honest mistake. He let me know that he would be there first thing in the morning (Monday, October 20) to get the work started. Paul and his crew showed up on time as arranged Monday morning. After the steps of our front porch were taken out, he called my husband to let him know that the stones on our home were shaking due to the jack hammer and he would suggest pouring a slab over the existing slab, rather than taking out and rebuilding. Paul dropped the price to $2,000 since he would no longer be doing the labor of jack hammering and tearing out a large porch. I was concerned that the price for such a small job was too much, since he only dropped it by $300. After talking with him, he kept the price the same because he has already price matched. The projects were finished the evening of October 21st, with the molds being taken off the morning of the 22nd. The front porch looks great along with the driveway. My mother in law showed up at our home to pay the remaining balance and she wanted to get some clarifications for the price of $2,000 for the porch when it was no longer a tear out and rebuild. Paul was not very accepting to her question and did nothing to help her understand the little price drop for the project. We were in no way trying to offend him or his company, we just wanted to make sure we are getting a fair price since we were unable to get other quotes for the skim coating over our existing porch. I am hoping this is just an isolated case of the company not receiving an "A" rating. I completely understand that everyone has an off day and not all jobs go exactly as planned. Paul's employees were very respectful and finished product looks great.

We had several vendors provide estimates for the job. Of all of them, Paul had by far the best price. He went above and beyond in customer service to make sure that the process went smoothly. He was kind enough to meet with our insurance adjuster to make sure that all of the appropriate damage was reimbursed. Despite some extra unexpected work (over 12 inches of asphalt), we were not charged a cent above the estimated price. Throughout the job, Paul and his crew were a pleasure to work with, very professional and courteous. Paul's crew started promptly on tearing out the old driveway. After tearing out the old concrete, his crew was careful about making sure we had a path for us to be able to walk down the muddy driveway, which was very much appreciated. They all worked very quickly and efficiently, staying later than we expected in the evenings to ensure that the work was done in a timely manner. We couldn't be happier with our new driveway, it is such an improvement. Paul's experience in the industry allowed him to quickly identify what went wrong with our previous driveway, including insufficient control joints, not enough rebar, and no gravel, no drainage pipe, among others. He corrected all of these deficiencies and I am confident our driveway will last decades. And its pretty! Thanks, Paul!

Returned all calls within 24 hours. Showed up exactly when promised. The old driveway was in horrible shape. The men had the old one torn out in record time. The old driveway was very steep along the bottom third. I asked them to make it "wheel chair friendly." They replaced it with a much better grade. They also made sure that the water runoff drained better, away from the house. They literally left the area much cleaner than when they started. I will have them replace another pad in back as soon as I am able!

Paul and his crew from All About Concrete did a great job removing a couple old concrete slabs and pouring a new patio. We had a bit of trouble with communication up front (we're probably both to blame). Once they got started, they did a very good job. I was a little disappointed that the price went up from the original quote, but in the end we were able to meet in the middle on an agreed upon cost (although they were in the middle of the job when this happened). I would recommend Paul and his team to anybody looking for a cost effective contractor for concrete work.

The job went very well. The workers were on time, professional, and did a fabulous job. One of the guys came back a few days later to take out the forms and remove the excess concrete that spills over the forms. He also did a favor for me that took just a few minutes to redirect a downspout that had previously drained onto the sidewalk. The original sidewalk had 90 degree turn. The new sidewalk has a curve instead of sharp corner. He was responsive when I reached him. Leaving a message on the answering machine wasn't effective. The final result looks great. I definitely recommend Paul.

I contacted several concrete contractors on Angie's List in late May / early June. Of them all, one refused to come out and give an estimate because they were just "too busy right now" and said our job was "too small" (really?). One came out and gave an estimate, but asked zero questions and never DID email me the quote, so I know he was just going through the motions. Of them all, Paul at All About Concrete was the only one to come out promptly, show interest in the job, and give us a quote. He explained that he'd have to replace our old 2 inch thick concrete with 4 inch concrete, due to codes, but that this would have rebar in it as well, which would make the walk stronger and less likely to crack as much as our old concrete walk had. We had him quote us for full tear-out and replacement of our old concrete walk, which leads from our back door...out along the south side of our house, all the way to our front door. I'm not sure how long this walk had been in-place, but it was full of cracks. And, as a part of a tax abatement program that we're working on, "fixing the cracks in the sidewalk" needed to be done. Of course, full replacement takes less time and expense overall, compared to fixing 70% of the concrete segments, so that's what we had done. Paul and his men were always prompt and courteous. He actually got around to doing the work a week sooner than he originally communicated by email, so that was good. And his men were careful to use 2 by 4's to lay back our plants and flowers that bordered the walk, so that they wouldn't be stepped on while they were working (although I did tell them that wasn't really necessary, as everything's perennials and would therefore grow back fine next year). They cleaned up after themselves and even filled in some dirt along both sides of the new (now 2" taller) walk, so that nobody'd twist an ankle if they went over the sides. Yeah, the price was a bit "up there", but I needed the work done before fall and none of their competitors here were responding (and yes, I did post reviews for them as well), so working with a true professional was worth it.

Paul, the owner, came in a timely manner when contacted him about our wanting an estimate on replacing our driveway. He was here on appointed day and time. Professional, pleasant, and courteous. His bid was acceptable for the job. We decided after we talked about doing the job, that we would wait until fall or next spring (due to other updates we are doing on a house we bought last October). All About Concrete is first on our list to do the job when we get to that time.

I chose All About Concrete because their estimate was several thousand less than a quote from another company. However, clean-up was not included in the scope of work. This may have been part of the reason that the quote was several thousand dollars less than others. After calling and leaving a message, I was contacted within hours and an appointment was scheduled to give me an estimate. The appointment was kept, he was on time. He was able to give me a quote. I agreed upon the amount and a date was scheduled for the work to be done. On that date I requested that the framing for the front stoop include steps going down the front and one side of the stoop. This did increase the cost by a few hundred dollars, but I felt the amount was very reasonable. The framing was done in one day and the front stoop was poured on the first day. The sidewalk and drive were poured on the second day. The work was completed to my satisfaction. I did have to spend time over the next couple of days cleaning up various spots in the yard where the concrete had splattered, but the time spent doing that was well worth the savings of $2000.00 to $3000.00 dollars. I have had comments from several neighbors about how good the concrete work looks. I would recommend this company to others.

I was considering having my driveway and sidewalk mudjacked, but after getting a couple of bids, I realized that removing and replacing them was actually more cost efficient especially since the old was crack, pitted, and just plain ugly. Paul and his 2 man crew were great. They were personable and friendly. They removed and replaced my old driveway and sidewalk in two days. I had decided to keep the old concrete to fill some wash areas, and they broke most of it up in manageable pieces and put it where I requested. They removed the landscaping shrubs with the bobcat that I wanted to try to save and placed them where I asked as well. In the bidding process, Paul suggested widening my sidewalk to 4 feet from the much narrower old one, and now my sidewalk gracefully curves to my front steps enhancing the appearance of the front of my house and making the whole area much more appealing. I would absolutely recommend calling Paul and his All About Concrete crew if you are interested in having concrete work done at a reasonable cost.
Description of Work: The crew removed my old concrete driveway and sidewalk and replaced them. Paul came the day i called and gave me an estimate. We discussed what I wanted done, and he made suggestions that helped in making the final decision to go ahead with the job. HIs estimate was written clearly with exactly what would be done, and his price was considerably less than the two other estimates I had gotten. He told me that it would be about 2 weeks before they could get to my job but was able to do it sooner. I'm extremely pleased with the outcome.

Project size - 12 foot by 24 foot garage floor addition and a 24 foot by 25 foot apron Paul was here when he said he would be and did and excellent job. Part of the challenge was butting the new floor up to an existing floor that had settled and was out of level. I also had a considerable slope that I was concerned with on the proposed driveway apron. If the apron was not sloped correct it would create a water runoff problem. When the job was completed ( in just 3 days ) it looked great. Just one day after completing the job we got a light rain and the drainage worked perfectly. This company really is "All About Concrete" The reason I waited this long to rate this company is that I wanted to see if there would be any settling and / or cracking of the concrete, There has been none so far even with our very dry weather conditions. I would definitely recommend and use this company again.

Paul was very easy to reach and immediately came out for an estimate. His pricing was competitive to other bids. Our driveway was not properly tied into the house when it was built and had sunk quite a bit. Paul gave a bid to replace a large section so that we could easily drive into our garage. On the day of the job, he thought our front steps really needed to be replaced, too, and did so at no additional charge. He did a much nicer shaping than the concrete that was there previously and came back later with dirt to fill in the difference, again, at no additional charge, even though thos eitems were not in the original bid. The entire crew was punctual, professional, and polite. They interacted with my children ,who were very curious about the process and even let each one (all four) try their hand at a tool before finishing the job and answered all of their questions about concrete. Paul was great and I would have no qualms in recommending him to anyone we know or calling on him if we had a job in the future. We are very pleased with his work and are much happier with our driveway.
Description of Work: Initial bid was given. A large section of driveway was removed, along with our front steps. It was replaced, tied in to the house and other parts of the driveway, and raised to make a seamless change from the sunken side to the garage at normal level.
