The weed killer did alright but weeds came back a little and the clover didn't go away at all. We wanted the bug spray and he said he would be back in 2 weeks, haven't seen him since. I called 2 times for the bug spray and he kept putting me off. He is due back this week and I will tell him to take a hike. I went and got my own Weed-B-Gon and put it on myself. 1

It went awful. One of the biggest road blocks we found was they did not have a local office. They would tell us how good the yard looked but the weeds were terrible did not see any new grass go even after watering daily for a month. We have bricks in the ground about 2 feet wide on each side of the driveway. We had grass and weeds growing in them. We asked if they were spraying it and the guy said here is how to get rid of that and bended over and pulled some out by hand. We really have nothing good to say about this company. Will never use them again.

I let Scotts do the work after numerous visits by their sales rep. One of the things that won me over is he said their equipment pulled at least six inch plugs. My soil is mostly clay, so this would have been great. When the morning came to do the aeration it had just rained .4" in 1 1/2 hours. To my surprise, instead of rescheduling, the two servicemen went ahead and did the work. Needless to say, they really tore up my lawn and didn't even put the grass clods back where they could have or clean up all the clumps of mud they tracked all over the sidewalk, driveway, and street. Further, I actually went out and measured a random sample of ten of the the cleanest looking plug holes and none were deeper than 4". Lastly, the service form they filled out claimed they put on 20 pounds of grass seed. I know from overseeding myself in the past that at most they applied 10 pounds of seed. I went to Grass Pad and put on just 2 pounds of seed under all my trees and it was at least 3 times the concentration of seed Scotts had just applied in those areas. Interestingly, the sales rep has not visited the neighborhood again. I wonder why?

The website states in GREAT BIG LETTERS: "Get started with a free lawn analysis". I called my local Scotts location to schedule a consultation. I was told someone would call me the next day to schedule. Well.............they won't do an in-person consultation. The representative who called from Colorado (I live in Kansas City) said they don't have time to come to my home to look at my lawn. He said they have great satellite technology, and they can look at my lawn that way. I said I prefer to have someone come here and look at the lawn with me, AS STATED ON THE WEBSITE. He said they can do that in May, but not in August. However, he can have someone out to my house in just a couple days to start the lawn treatments, I would just have to sign up for the service now. Seriously? You can send someone out to treat my lawn right away, but you can't send someone out to look at my lawn, and talk to me about my lawn and what it needs? How can you possibly know what my lawn needs if you haven't seen it? You can't. You just want my money. I'm still SHOCKED that Scotts refused to come to my house to look at my lawn to do a consultation.

When we bought our house, we didn't know that the previous owners used Trugreen (then Chemlawn) for lawn care services. We were spending a fortune on weed control products and fertilizers and it felt like the weeds were just mocking us. My in-laws have used Trugreen for years, so we contacted them and found out about the connection to our home. It's definitely expensive, but you get what you pay for. We rarely have a significant weed breakthrough and, if we do, they will come out and re-treat at no cost. Our yard looks good and weed-free all year. Here's the rub...we've been charged for treatments that we did not request and have had to closely monitor our bills to make sure that nothing is being added to our account without authorization. Last fall, following the severe drought that really did a number on our yard, they sold us a rejuvenation package, which was very expensive. It was to include verticutting/aeration, fertility, overseeding and a chicken manure product that is supposed to hold moisture in the soil and promote a vigorous start to the new growth. Near as we can tell, they didn't verticut or aerate anything. We followed their watering protocol to the letter and the overseeding and chicken manure didn't do anything (I was suspicious of that from the get-go - it sounded a little like "manure" if you know what I mean). We had to re-seed all of those bare areas again in the spring ourselves and got much better results. If we stick to our weed control program, it's all good. It's these additional services that have not been impressive. Also don't like the upsell when they send the sales rep around under the guise of doing a randomly selected audit on the yard, which turns in to an attempt to scare you into buying their insect control programs.

Horrible....They sold me a package for one year which included 100% satisfaction and they didn't uphold their end of the agreement. They promised that any bare areas the size of a dinner plate and smaller would fill in once the weeds were exterminated. They also treated my neighbors lawn once by mistake so I had to call them to come back out and treat the correct lawn. Then the last treatment I believe they over treated because my "entire" yard turned brown. When I called to have someone come out and assess my yard, they sent a supv. by the name of Dave out. He surveyed my yard while I was at work and left me a note saying that the browning was the crabgrass that is naturally dying because of the cool temps. When I called him to discuss the matter, I asked him first of all if the browing which in fact was crabgrass (which I don't believe it was because it was my entire yard) why would I have that in my yard after they had treated my yard all summer. He really didn't have a good answer and frankly didn't come across as correcting the problem. Finally after my insistence that Trugreen needed to satisfy our original contract, he agreed to do some complimentary treatments the following springs. Spring came and I had anticipated a call from Dave, but never heard anything until one day when I came home from work and had a notice that they had verticut and seeded. Two weeks later they came and put down fertilizer, then 2 weeks later I received a bill. I called and left a msg on the manager line 5/2/13. On 5/4/13 when no one had returned my call, I called once again. I spoke to Jasmine and explained the entire situation and she credited my account. I then decided to write a letter to the corp office demanding a full refund. I mailed the original letter 5/13/13, and when I received no response, I sent a 2nd letter 6/8/13 and this time I sent it certified. Finally on 6/15/13 I received a call from someone at the corp office, however I was right in the middle of an estate sale so I couldn't talk and asked if she could call me back that following week. Needless to say, I was never contacted again. I'm not writing a third letter nor am I calling again. Worst customer service/service I've experienced in quite some time.

If there was a rating between a one and a ten I'd give them a five. I started using them through my Terminix account because they asked if I wanted to extend it through TruGreen. Terminix is okay, but TruGreen comes around and are supposed to spray this chemical that keeps my weeds down. Well, my weeds are coming back and my grass doesn't look any greener, so whatever they're doing is not really working. As far as greening my lawn I can go to the Ace Hardware over here or Walmart and pick up a bag of Scott's Turf and sprinkle it on my lawn and do a better job than what they've done. I can spend $20 on my entire lawn and do a lot better than them. It's not really worth the money and if I didn't have to have them for the six months for the deal to last I would've cancelled them after the second time they came around. I was actually kind of watching the guy and I don't think he went into my backyard because it's really bad. I think he just did my front yard area. I have a pretty big backyard and he was supposed to cover it. The first time they did and I remember seeing them. They came around and they saw stuff dying, but then the weeds came right back as soon as it rained. We were getting a lot of rain here in Kansas, so as soon as it rained it probably took it another week and the weeds started recovering. I actually had to start spraying them myself to kill everything off and to keep it from coming back. I think they are too expensive for what they provide and I don't think they're worth what you pay. If they charged me $20 I probably wouldn't complain so much, but that's because you have to pay somebody to come out and do it for you. It's the service that you're paying for. I don't think their chemical is very good because if I can go to Walmart and buy an Ortho product that is better and do it myself I'm just going to do it that way. I would pay $20 for it, but not $56 every six weeks. I talked to a person on the phone from them, but all I wanted to know was how their pricing worked and they were pretty responsive. They're here on time, so when they say they're going to be here they are here. They seemed pretty professional and whatever the guy does he's here. They knock on my door and they announce their presence. The first time they were here they were very professional, but the second time I don't think he saw that I was home and I wanted to actually see if he was going to do something without me there. He did knock on my door and leave a little slip, so it looked like he did that part of his job very well and was very professional on that end. After my six months is over I'm not going to use them again.
Description of Work: TruGreen comes out to spray my lawn for weeds. I'm spending about $56 every six weeks or so, which is supposed to be some kind of deal through Terminix.

They were a little hard to get hold of and they also put a sign in our yard but we did not see evidence of a very thorough treatment. We called them to come back out and they re-treated three weeks later. They did not want to re-treat immediately because it could harm the grass. Now the lawn is generally looking fine. My wife has not been perfectly happy but she has not been disappointed to the point where she would not use them again. Their prices are probably comparable to others. My wife has had to get them on the phone a few times but they have showed up for treatments when they said they would. We have not met any of the workers; all we have actually met is the initial lady who was the salesperson and she was fine.

The service was provided as promised. So far it has seemed to work on the weeds. My issue is that I was approached by a salesman and he gave me an estimate on my lawn for $57/month for 6 months. I signed up because I can do it myself for $80 plus the headache of doing the work. I thought I was getting a good deal. Well the 1st service was provided and the bill was left on the dooe for $77. i emailed a concern about not recieving the promised price. I recieved a call the next day and was told that in order ot get the price promised i had to do auto pay with my bank info on file. I expressed that this was not told to me but was told there was a 5% off discount for doing that. I expressed my disatisfaction with the deseption on thier pricing and i would like them to honor what i was promised. I was told no and that i would have to pay the full price until i put autopay available. I told the woman that i will not continue their service if that do not resolve this and she did not express concern nor did she offer to take care of anything. It is obvious that this company does not care about their clients bexause they just lost a potential reoccuring customer.

Both myself and my dogs were getting eaten alive by chiggers this summer so I called Scotts around the end of July/beginning of August 2012 and asked if they serviced Lawrence. They said that they did in fact service Lawrence and that they actually already had our yard dimensions on file from when my wife's Grandmother had used their services years ago. Because of having our info they were able to give me an estimate right over the phone and told me they would have a technician out as soon as possible. I asked how long that would be and the rep said that she put a "rush" on the call and that someone should be out here within a couple days. After 3 days went by I called back and the rep again said that there was a "rush" on my service call and someone would be out shortly. Again, she could not give me an exact day/time. After 1 week from my initial call I called again and talked to a different rep. I explained that this was a "rush" job and I'd really like someone to come by ASAP (our puppy was covered in chigger bites). The new rep forwarded me to the technician scheduling department where I had a conversation with a woman responsible for scheduling jobs in Lawrence. Turns out that Scotts does not send technicians out to Lawrence until they have a certain number of service calls in Lawrence. In other words, despite the "rush" order, Scotts had not rec'd enough service requests in Lawrence to send out a technician. I was really disappointed that no one had explained this to me previously. The first rep that I spoke with reassured me twice that she had placed a "rush" on the order and that a technician would be out ASAP. I am not upset with the business practice of only sending technicians to Lawrence if there are enough jobs to make it worth the trip; I just wish they would have told me that up front so that I could have decided if I wanted to wait or not. I had explained how bad the chiggers were numerous times and that I needed it sprayed ASAP.
Description of Work: No service performed. I had called and set up an urgent/ASAP service call for Scotts to come out to our house in Lawrence and apply a bug treatment in our backyard. After a week the technician had not arrived. I called and cancelled the service call.
