Recommendation was for us to add more insulation, but I was more concerned about heat loss surrounding windows & doors.

The audit was great, very timely and well-done. I had to call a few times to get the results, thus the Cs on responsiveness and professionalism. Overall a very good experience. I would definitely work with them again. I think the delay in the results is just due to them being very busy with all of the Angie's List deals they sold.

Very pleased with the information I received. I can now make changes to my home that will save money, and make it more comfortable. The process took all afternoon, however, Jeff was very thorough. He arrived early and was very professional.

I had read about the benefits of having a Home Energy Audit done, and it seemed like a good idea. I hesitated, though, because of the cost (usually around $400.) However, when The Hayes Company offered a Big Deal for $99 on Angie's List, at the same time that MEC (The Metropolitan Energy Center) had a program offering rebates for qualifying home energy improvements, (with The Hayes Company listed as a qualifying contractor), I jumped at the chance. I had never had a home energy audit before, and it was quite an experience. Vanessa Petersen along with Mark Hayes came to my home and installed a "blower door." This essentially tries to suck all of the air out of the house. The more leaks you have, the easier that is to do. In my case, I had lots of leaks, so many in fact, that it was quite a noisy process, and indeed some of my windows were actually whistling! As the blower was working, Vanessas went around the house, checking for leaks with an infrared device, and taking pictures. Meanwhile, Mark went up to the attic and checked on the insulation. They also checked many other things, such as for asbestos, mold, carbon monoxide, the efficiency of the furnace and A/C, etc. A few days later I received the results of the audit, along with their recommendations. I selected the attic insulation (insulated to R50 with blown cellulose), and the advanced air sealing package (all air sealing in the attic, caulk around all the window trim, caulk around the fireplace and fireplace room ceiling trim, and basement windows caulked shut.) The work took almost all day. Three workers arrived on time, were very professional, and cleaned everything up when they left. The next step was for me to schedule the follow-up audit. This needed to be down within a year in order to meet the requirements for the MEC rebates. Unfortunately, I procrastinated in doing this until the year was almost up. However, when I did call, the Hayes Company promptly scheduled and performed the audit. It was astoundingly different! I didn't even realize the blower door was working, because it was so quiet. No window whistling this time! There was a bit of confusion with the rebate forms, probably due to the length of time between audits and changes in-between, and the followup auditor was late in submitting them, but in the end, there was so much improvement due to the work that was done, that I received the maximum rebates possible, and they went a good way towards paying the cost of the work. I don't think the rebate programs are active at this time, but I think that a home energy audit is a good idea anyway. My home is much more comfortable, certainly less drafty, and my utility bills are less. It just had a different feeling to it after it was insulated and all the leaks sealed up, (and leaks you'd never think of, like around ceiling light fixtures). Some people might choose to try and do this work themselves, but I was glad to leave it to the professionals. They know where to look for leaks, and the test results certainly proved it!

They did a nice job. They were prompt, they were neat, and seemed to do a good job. The work was fine. There wasn't a lot of interaction with the provider, but they were friendly.

We were told before work was started that we would need to replace tiles and sheetrock as this was not included in the estimate. The job was completed in two separate days (due to weather and availability) followed by a thorough inspection and clean-up. Mr. Mike O'Connell is a born teacher with a refreshing sense of humor. During the initial appraisal he recommended simple steps we could do ourselves to improve our home's energy efficiency. We would use this company again!!

It went well. It was very difficult getting them on the phone. We set a date for them to come out and look at the job. It took 3 phone calls from me to get a hold of them to schedule the job. They didn’t give the form so I could get the credit back for the materials for the tax credit and it took another 3 phone calls to get that form from them. They did show up on time. They got the job done in about 2 hours. The workers were professional, courteous, timely, friendly, and I had no problems with the work itself.

Very punctual and professional bunch. One member of the team was responsible for the energy audit using a blower unit at the front door and tied feeding information to a lap top computer to measure how often the air changed over in our home. A second team member used a temperature gun with camera to look for where the air leaks in our house were. He took me into the attic where he recommended things that I could do to improve the efficiency of our home. At the end, they were able to provide me with a printout of how efficient our houses was. They also provided a bid sheet listing price quotes for recommended improvements. There was no hard sell involved. A very pleasant and informative experience.

This company was very responsive and came on time for both the bidding and the job. The job was done as they described with very little mess, excellent cleanup and completion to specifications. I would not hesitate to use this company again.

My husband and I had an excellent experience with contracting the Hayes Company a couple years previously. 'Not for an energy audit but, working closely from another provider's audit report,the Hayes employees did a lot of work around our home: sealed garage and fireplace gaps, sealed along rim joists of our entire basement, added more soffit vents which matched our existing vinyl siding perfectly, and performed a complete garage and attic re-insulation; outstanding work! 'Was a no brainer to have Hayes perfrom my parents' energy audit. The Hayes auditor was prompt and courteous and the report thorough --providing them detailed solutions and explanation of work they could hire or do themselves (my dad is handy). A thoughtful consideration: while Hayes was competitive and helpful to offer a bid, there was no high pressure sales to contract with them to complete the work specified.

They Came On Time And Were Very Clean And Responsive To Or Questions And Concerns. The Job Was Done Well And We Can Tell The Difference In Or Comfort And Heating/Cooling Bills.

They did fine. They spent a lot of time and gave me a lot of information and ideas. I was satisfied with it. They gave me some good recommendations. They gave me a big packet with a lot of information for me to read over. They were very professional and seemed to know what they were doing.

Audit seemed to be thorough and professional but was let down by slow delivery of audit report. It took four weeks and several follow-ups to get the report. Last communication from provider was on 2/27/2013 when audit report was delivered (for audit performed on 1/30/2013.) Accompanying email said that a salesman would follow up with a proposal for the work. There was no follow-up and no contact by the salesman. I didn't contact the company as I would not engage them for future work.

Can't give you an answer as they never followed up after the audit.

Audit done in a timely manner. Provider did not have his infrared camera, so had to rely on some other equipment to determine trouble spots. Bid seemed fair, but we didn't have the money to proceed with the rercommended improvements at that time.

This work was done a long time ago. I recall being quite pleased with cost and quality, but failed to rate timely. Am doing so now only to get Angie's List off my back.

The agent came to my house and performed the necessary energy audit. This took 2-3 hours. They later e-mailed my a 14 page evaluation of what I needed to do to make my home more energy efficient. I expressed interest in a follow-up to have some of these things completed. I never received a call back. A few weeks later I met the same agent at the home show down at the American Royal bldg. We had a nice chat and he again assured me that he would contact me and get the ball rolling. Never heard a word. A few months later I was at an open house at Anthony's heating and plumbing, around early April, 2013. The Hayes Co. was doing a demonstration. I spoke with one of their salespeople and expressed my concerns about never having been contacted by my previous salesperson. He assured me that I would hear from that agent by the end of the day. I have still never heard a word from the company,... At this point I am a little hesitant to have any further dealings with the Hayes Co. Sincerely, Joe Meditz 913.219.4283

the process went fine, but once everything was done the guy who came by was pretty non responsive. I was promised a set of reports showing the energy usage of my house. I had to ask for them 2 times before I recieved them. Then when I emailed (2 times) to ask some questions, both emails were not responded to. It's a shame since I was interested in having some insulation installed.

They were on time and efficient. The estimate to do the work was a little too high. I decided not to use them. They recommended things that the energy audit I had two years had not mentioned.

Called to request an estimate on attic insulation. Sales rep showed up and I explained what I wanted done. Sales rep explicitly said that my ideas were a waste of money and recommended that I just go with the cheap and dirty approach to insulating an attic that the company is accustom to installing (blow-in fiberglass or spray foam). Rep reluctantly promised to send an estimate but never bothered. Called back to request a different sales rep and was told someone different would be out. They sent the same sales rep out again which was a complete waste of my time and the sales rep's time. Called the office to find out why they sent the same rep out again and was told by the receptionist that the computer records were messed up and she transferred me to the manager. The manager implied that the mix-up was my fault because I should have been able to remember who the previous reps name was when I called back for the second appointment. I brought up the computer record issue that the receptionist admitted to having but it was still my fault according to the manager. Manager agreed to send a different rep and scheduled an appointment. A few days later, Hayes sent out a second sales rep (third appointment). Second sales rep was far more pleasant but failed to provide an estimate as promised.

It was very thorough assessment and they were great!
