Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I had a drain backup in the basement and called Roto Rooter to come fix. I was not home when they showed up and my wife called me to tell me it was going to be $275 dollars. I told her I have never paid that much and asked to speak to the technician. He told me that included a camera and cleaning product they leave behind. I asked him why I needed the camera and he said so we can see where the problem is. I asked him for a cheaper option and after much dialog he gave me a price of $170. Since he was already here I had him do the work. I came home and the drain was not fixed and he was loading up to leave. I asked him what he thought and he said to call the city to check the main line because he ran 80 feet and hit something he could not get past. I called the city and they came out and check the line and ran a machine through it on the street (under the street) and said it was clear on their end. I then called Roto Rooter back and waited an hour + and the same guy came back and told me I need to pay for the camera again (200+ dollards) and I we talked about what that will do and he insisted it was the best thing for us. I said well I will call later and schedule (I was not convinced) and then he said I needed to pay up front to him to schedule the camera. B.S. I told him I was going to call another company. I called Reddi Services and they showed up late but in less than 1 hour had the problem fixed. The Roto Rooter guy did not even check the other cleanouts and snake those. I essentially paid twice for the service.

Went well. The job was completed and he gave us a discount because he was over so late.

The service was excellent. I was very satisfied with them. They were professional, on time, and on budget. I would recommend them.

They were excellent. They were polite. They came on time. They got the job done. They knew what they were doing and seemed to be fairly priced. The whole thing was such an ordeal and they stayed with the job until the job was entirely done.

Jason was very polite and informative this past Sunday. Our bathroom toilet was clogged and I couldn't get it to flush so I called Bob ("better call Bob" is their slogan). After scheduling the appointment I messed with the toilet a bit more (turned off the water, and put a baking soda/vinegar mixture in the bowl). Once Jason arrived we inspected it and flushed it to replicate the problem; however, this time it flushed - just my luck! Since I was already being charged a $48-49 dis-batching fee, I had him look at our basement floor drain. He said he could clean it for $199 and kindly said that how much the toilet would have cost (wow! glad I fixed it myself, that seems steep). After further review, he provided an estimate for replacing the drain completely. While it was a nice gesture to give both estimates, the purpose seemed to push me toward replacement for fear that cleaning could rupture the drain. He explained that if I went with cleaning ($199) and something happened, than I would have to have it replaced ($600+). So my best bet would be to go with replacement instead of paying for both services if issues arose. While I had to pay the dis-batching/service charge, I was assured it would be waived if I went with one of the drain estimates. Also I was told that I would need to replace my air/heating unit given new government guidelines - he was happy to have someone give me an estimate. I kindly told him I use another provider so this subject was dropped. I love Bob Hamilton's advertising campaign, but I feel like their education and sales tactics are too strong. Thanks to a little more vinegar + baking soda I was able to clear up my floor drain just fine. Does it need to be replaced? Yes, probably in the coming years but it is not as necessary right now as it seemed on Sunday. Again, I appreciate Jason's help - he was nothing but kind. I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around pricing and reasoning.

Got home at 9:30 p.m. to a sewage backup in our utility room, called Roto-Rooter based on their Angie's List rating and their late business hours. We were quoted a three hour timeframe and the tech, Brandon, arrived within that window (about 2 1/2 hrs). He kept us informed about what steps he was taking so that we could decide beforehand whether or not to allow the additional billing. We found him very professional...he arrived on time, did the job required, cleaned up and made sure we knew exactly what was happening and why. Without hesitation, Brandon applied our Angie's list coupon for $40 off and gave us a discount on the Pipe Shield product. With that said, our total still came to over $300...a little steep for one hour's worth of work given that emergency, after-hours and weekend rates are not charged. However, we would absolutely use Roto-Rooter again (higher prices and all) because Brandon's professionalism and timeliness took a good bit of the sting out of the bill.

There was nothing they could have done better. The young man who came out was very cautious about not making a mess and got the job done in about 20 minutes.

Richard was the technician, he was very efficient and professional. After checking to make sure the main drain was actually the problem Richard cleaned out two root blockages. He did not attempt to sell me any unnecessary services or products, I asked him to also clean a basement shower drain, both jobs and cleanup were done quickly. We have large trees on our property and drain problems occur occasionally due to roots, I would use this company again.

The service was good. He came on time and did not leave a mess behind.

Just purchased a home. Had been abandoned for a while, so there were kinks to iron out. Kitchen sink was not draining. Called Roto-Rooter, they said someone would be in contact with me in 2hours, 15mins later I got a call, service man was on his way.Keith Satomi was very prompt, polite and very professional. He made friends with my 4 cats, who just adored him. Watching him intently as he snaked my kitchen drain.This is the first time I have used Roto-Rooter, and if I need them in the future, I will be asking for Keith personally.Thank you Keith and Roto-Rooter, you guys are great!!

Unfortunately, our experience with the company did not go as well as in the past. We were pleased that the serviceman arrived on time (actually early) but 3 hours later the drain was still clogged and he had to admit defeat. It was explained to us up front that we would be held liable for a service charge, even if the drain could not be unclogged, so we ended paying for that charge. The serviceman's recommendation was for us to look at starting to replace our pipes. A different company came out the next day and unclogged the pipe in about 10 minutes. It should be noted that the company did work with us ... and later refunded our service charge of $49.95.

They have been out a number of times and I don't even remember what the plumbing issue was. We have had several different plumbing issues done by Roto-Rooter over the years. They usually get the job done. Usually you can get a hold of them because they are such a big organization and get them to come out for any problems. I would use them again.

They do a pretty good job. They get it done. They try and work with on price a little bit if they can.

I've used their services for over 20 years. I called to have them come out and after calling several times they finally sent someone out at 9:00 at night. The guy didn't even know what service he was there to provide. He told me it was going to cost close to $300.00. I told him I wasn't going to have anything done. I called the next day and they said they had no idea why he was going to charge me that much. There was no communication at all. I will no longer be using their services.

I have been using them for multiple years and have been satisfied with their work. I would recommend them to others, as I think they are knowledgeable and provide good work.

They proposed to cut out my cement basement floor to replace drain pipe, when running the pipe in the ceiling would have been cheaper and less destructive.

The service was good! They were able to come in and unclog the drain promptly all the way to the sewer line. I also inquired with him about a valve for our toilet that same day. I did have 1 concern on them. They gave me some drain cleaning and said that it was included in the service. When I was reviewing the bill I noticed that the drain cleaner was not included in the installation cost, it was additional. They did happily take it back and refunded the amount.

Their work was very satisfactory. The job was complicated but they managed it very professionally. Some of the people who came to work were subcontracted by the company. I was satisfied with their price. They did a very good job of cleaning up the mess that had been made. They had all the equipment they needed. They did an excellent job. I had used their services around twenty years ago as well. For some reason they were not able to respond in a timely manner to us the last time that we called them to use their services. I think it was because they did not have anyone available. I would use their services in the future also.

I would say they did an overall good job but were very expensive. Also, the individuals specifically asked my husband if he wanted them to take care of the old sump pump and he said to yes to please discard it. They ended up leaving it in our driveway. I think this was very unprofessional and if they didn't want to dispose of it then should not have asked. I also got several calls afterward asking if we wanted a new sump pump installed even though they did it when they came out the first time, seems like an overall bad communication within the company.

It went terrible! The first plumber that came out pulled too h****** the pipe and broke it. So he had to cut a hole in the wall under the sink to fix it. Most importantly he charged us for it! Then within the 30 day warranty period the sink clogged again. The company sent out a different plumber. This plumber snaked the drain again and said it was fixed. 31 days later the sink cloged again, 1 day out of warranty. Don't waste you time or money, just hire someone else the first time.

Worked me in quickly and arrived ahead of schedule. Offered no-risk estimate, very professional.

Roto Rooter came out and gave me a bid of $174.00 to snake about 15 feet of a 2-inch drain. Thought this was too high and I was right. The guy was very nice and knew what he was doing but I got another bid of $95.00.

They are billing me for the service, but I haven?t received a bill as yet. The job went very well. They were prompt in coming to my house and fixing the problem, so I was pretty happy. I felt that their pricing was good.
