Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Technicians excavated connection point with city easement. They jackhammered the concrete in the basement floor to have access to the sewer pipe. They inserted the new pipe by pulling it through the old sewer pipe. This method is called trenchless pipe bursting.

I had stopped up sink. They cleaned out the line.

Sent two different guys on two different days - both of whom were not qualified to complete the work. Also, the two guys had different opinions on how to approach the problem. One guy would not send a snake thru the toilet, stating it would break the toilet and then the next guy wanted to run a snake thru the toilet. Both appeared to be completely mystified as to how to fix the problem. I am very disappointed in this recent service because I've been quite pleased with Roto Rooter plumbers in the past. On the plus side, they did not try to charge for the visits.

First off from the time we called the Roto-Rooter office they stated that a service representative would be out in an hour. Our serviceman arrived well before the hour was up! He politely introduced himself as Keith (his service rep number was #506-3519) and he explained who he was as well as his company and asked my wife and I to describe our problem. He quickly assessed our problem explained the best course of action that he would recommend to remedy our backed up sewer problem. He detailed that there were two ways that he could attack our problem, but recommended the least invasive as a starting point. Keith's demeanor was not what I expected and I told him so. He was a consummate professional. He explained our situation in a manor that I felt like I was conversing with a college professor. His words were well chosen, his concern for our predicament was well stated, his diagnosis made sense and ultimately his original suggested solution worked! Keith was very careful about our home. He wore shoe covers to protect our hardwood floors and carpeting, he wore surgical gloves both for our benefit as well as his own, he was very methodical in how he laid out his equipment and machinery which included a protective floor pad to again protect our floors. He cleaned up the entire area of our bathroom carefuly which included wiping surfaces with a disinfectant. Keith asked us if we had a Roto-Rooter coupon before he calculated our bill, which we did and that saved us $30. I can only hope that those of you reading my commentary have the same high quality experience that we did! They were right on time. I was told how much it would cost before any work was done. He also explain to me what was going on and why it happened. The problem was fixed in about 20-25 mins. I will definitely be using roto rooter again for all my future plumbing issues.

It was a good experience. We had a wonderful gentleman. He had to come back three times to fix it and we liked him. We got his name and passed it on to our neighbors. We were so pleased with him and have not had a problem in the last 15 months. I really feel he got to the heart of the problem. He was really wonderful. The price was pretty expensive but we got what we were promised so we did not mind. He was very responsive, informative, told us what was wrong and brought the parts to show us where they broke. He did more then just repair it. It was an odd job in a crawl space so it did take a while to get fixed but I was satisfied that he worked as hard as the situation permitted.

If you want something done at last minute do not call these guys, I think they think just because your in need it is ok to rob you. I called the manager and he said that that did seem a little high; I told him it was boarder line stealing. DO NO USE THESE GUYS R U N

The job worked out all right. I thought it was a little pricy. The man was very professional and did a good job.

We had a lot of rain and my sump quit working and flooded myfinished basement. Roto Rooter was the ONLY company out of many I called that would come to my home that day. They arrived that day and replaced my sump pump for a reasonable price and also gave me some advice on how to maintain it. The flood also broke my water heater. I called Roto Rooter the next day and they came out that morning and repaired it, and they did not try to sell me a new one. I am so thankful for them because they were there for me when I needed help the most. They also referred me to a restoration company (Rainbow Intl) that I also used to do the clean up in my basement. This company also did a great job for me too.

It was fine. They were here within an hour of calling. It went very well.

Robert ( Technician 0377) did a great job. I called around 11 for an appointment and they had him at my house in about an hour. He was very professional and quick. He showed up wearing protective booties and was very neat about set up and clean up. The whole process took less than 30 minutes. He honored a $30 off Angies List coupon and gave me some product to use in my drains. Such a nice man and very professional. I would definitely call Roto-Rooter first.

GREAT! Robert - (Tech 0377) arrived at my house about an hour after I called for an apointment. They called me 30 minutes before he arrived to give me time to get home. He was fast, efficient, neat and a very kind man. It took him less than 30 minutes to fix the problem. He also accepted a $30 off coupon from Angie's List and gave me some drain enzyme cleaner that he highly recommented. I would definitely use them again. Thank you Robert.

He was great and his work was great. Very profesional and kept me informed the whole tome. Took precautions and kept the area very clean.

Tyler was my service guy. He was prompt and professional. He had my underground drain cleared out and flowing within 30 minutes. He also gave me some tips on how to keep it from clogging in the future. I really appreciated the advice.

Called RotoRooter the day before Christmas when I could not get the company that I have a home owner's plus warranty with to come out as they were too short of help. Did NOT understand that when I have a contract with them that proclaims 24/7 inc. holiday service. RotoRooter was QUICK TO RESPOND to our need SAME DAY. Sent a friendly knowledgeable tech to fix our severely clogged kitchen drain. He did an excellent job, was here 2 1/2 hours as the job was time consuming. Happy with their service, highly recommend and would hire again.

Work was fine, and timely. The service man was polite, and business like. He even helped us find a coupon which saved money over the Senior discount. However the service man accidently backed his truck across newly sodded grass, and left a 20ft rut of ruined turf. (It was covered with an inch of snow, and he did not see it, at first. I think.) I did not notice until after he had driven on down the road. I contacted the general manager, and he sent someone out to take a look. I called the next day, and he said that the grass had been damaged. I have photos, as do they. They took their own photos. The general manager said they could do nothing for the grass in the winter, but would give us a call the first week in April to make reparations. We are into the third week of April now, and no contact from them. I have called 5 times, and greeted with voice mail. I have left a message each time that I was ready for the repair work they promised. I have received no answers. I wonder who I should try to contact as Frank, the manager, seems unwilling to talk to me. So, the plumbing work was fine, if a bit pricy. However, the experience with management has been a very bad experience. So far.

Everything went well. One time they sent a guy out and he couldn't get the job done. The general manager got involved and they sent a qualified guy out there who took care of everything. Overall, I was pleased with the service.

Call for sump pump replacement. Old pump turned on frequently. Just wanted old pump switched over to new pump. Small pump, easy access, no mess.Customer supplied new sump pump and work light. Called because stated work with sump pumps but did not have needed equipment. Old connection reused. Approximate time 30 min. Spent approximately 15min. talking on phone while customer was waiting for total price. Total cost $244. 00. A total rip off!!!!

This time it was probably our fault, but they didn't charge us anyway. I was very happy with them. They do good service and provide good warranty. They vouch their work for six months, so if we have a problem, they come back and fix it. The first time they came it was $279. I thought that was kind of expensive. I do realize that it's probably a very good price. Regular plumbers sometimes get a lot higher than that.

I initially called on 3/10/2013, Sunday afternoon for a backed-up toilet and tub. The technician showed up on time and quickly determined my main drain was clogged and that I needed to install a clean-out. (The clean out I do have is in a crawlspace where equipment can't be reached.) They re-scheduled for 3/11/2013 on Monday between 8 and 10 am. Although the technician didn't show up until 1 or 2 pm, I received hourly calls letting me know, "We haven't forgot about you" and, "You are on the top of our list." Very impressive! That afternoon they wrote up a proposal for parts, labor and permits but stated they wouldn't be able to install the clean out until Tuesday because they had other technicians out on jobs that took longer than expected. Understandable. Tuesday, 3/12/2013 they installed the clean out and unclogged my main drain while I was at work. They did a fantastic job keeping the work site clean and didn't tear up any of the bushes where the clean out was installed. When I called the tech to pay for the final amount, I was surprised he didn't take the $30 off coupon I left in the mail box. The tech said I would have to call the home office to work it out since it wasn't included in the original proposal! Overall, I'm very pleased with the services performed by Roto-Rooter. They sent an e-mail with a hyperlink so I could check my order status, called hourly to let me know when I could expect the technician to arrive, were very professional, knowledgable and performed good quality work.

The sewer backed up in a rainstorm. Our usual sewer company could not guarantee service on Saturday night, so my wife called this company. The technician, Mark, before even assessing the problem, said we needed to have the house trap removed (a very expensive repair that runs in the thousands of dollars). My wife told him that unfortunately we had had experience with sewer backups and that the problem was almost surely tree roots in the sewer line. That's to be expected because we've had two years of drought and have a huge oak tree in the front yard. Mark then went looking around the basement for the clean out, even though my wife told him where it was. Then he said he would have to chisel the caps off (and that would "take hours"). My wife then called me (I was at work), and I assured Mark that the caps had been off recently. He removed the caps and first tried a clean out using a small auger. He then said, "It might be the floor drain" -- something that would cost extra. Then Mark went to his truck to get his power snake. He didn't put down any plastic indoors and made a mess getting his machine in and out of the basement. Somehow, when he left the basement was a bigger mess than when he had arrived. But it appears that the sewer line is OK. If he had listened and diagnosed the problem correctly, he could have used his big machine and been in and out in 30 minutes. He was intent on selling us services we didn't need and ignored what my wife was telling him. UPDATE: A couple of days after this review was posted, I was contacted by Don (the owner or manager; I wasn't quite sure). We had a nice visit, and the conversation quickly focused on the (lack of) communication between Mark and my wife. I thought Don got right to the heart of the matter when he said, "No one knows their house like the owner." He said he would talk with Mark about listening better. Don also offered to knock $30 off the bill and send me a coupon for future work. It was a nice gesture, but I want to restate my position that the amount of the charge was never the issue. We needed service immediately. We were willing to pay extra for it.

I tried to bypass the jetter service to unclog a drain because I knew we had a pipe drainage problem. The technician talked me out of that - gave me bad advice. I spent almost almost a thousand dollars on jetter service only to find out that did not fix the problem and I needed to spend another $7732 for pipe replacement. The 7732 estimate was extremely high compaired to other companies and I had the pipe replacement done by another company. Management offered me a partial refund on the jetter service but I haven't seen any money as of today. Also, I was sold a jug of drain cleaner by the first technician and the technician that came the next day must have picked it up by mistake. Management said they would get me another jug, but I haven't seen that yet either. Really bad experience with this company. Would not use them again under any circumstances.

They didn't make it on the day originally promised. They came out the next day. We would not use them again as they are over-priced.

The plumber showed-up very quickly late in the evening and performed the job quickly and efficiently. He was courteous and knowledgable. Would definitely use these folks with urgent plumbing issues in the future.
