The price was better than other companies that came out for estimates. They had to replace some duct work as well, because some more work was required for the air conditioner. They offer 24-hour service, which is great. They have great continuing customer service. They had to come out and replace a faulty part and even came on a Saturday. I will continue to use them in the future and would recommend them to others.

This job was installation of secondary heat pump system to service the 2nd floor of our cape cod style house. Bob Epps provided the estimate and answered all our questions. He even came back a second time so we could ask additional questions about the placement of ducts and duct work before the work was done. The job was planned for 3 days and was completed in that time. My husband met with the crew and felt they were professional. We are happy with the new system.

They did a excellent job. He answered our questions and did not try to sell us more than we needed. The work was done in a professional manner and they cleaned up after they finished. The cost was about $2000 less than the next bid. The salesman also made sure we got a rebate from the company and filed for a reduction in our electric rates. We would recommend them to anyone.

It went very well. One surprise was that the unit actually included a heat pump (which the other company had not told us; they just did not connect that part). Keith explained its purpose and operation to our satisfaction. He stated that, if we ever decided to use it, he could return and make those connections, too. He worked quickly and thoroughly and was very careful not to track in mud or to damage the ferns growing around the unit.
Description of Work: Keith came to check that the A/C was ready to run. (The unit had been installed by a different company a year ago.) He found that the electrical connections were done improperly and repaired those at no extra charge. He installed a new filter and checked & cleaned everything else.

After Ken spoke with me, he emailed me an estimate for both an AC and a furnace. I emailed him back asking specifically for an estimate on an AC only. He never emailed me back. I then left a voicemail for him, but he never called me back. I then chose to go with another company who was much more responsive to me.
Description of Work: I initially contacted Midwest to replace my air conditioner. Ken Duff came out to my house and spoke with me at length about my options, possible cost, and his company. No actual services were performed because Ken Duff never called me back regarding an estimate for my AC. He called me back once or twice to confirm that I received the initial estimate (for the AC and furnace) via email, but that was it.

We are extremely happy with our system, which was installed last October. Bob Epps was very patient and provided many estimates and re-estimates while we figured out what we wanted. The crew that installed the system was very professional and really cared about the quality of their work. The system works great and there has been a big drop in our energy bills.

Very well. Were on time, professional. Took a little longer (an hour or two) than what they had thought (estimators always seem to be optimistic) due to some difficulties running the drain line (our basement is old and weird). I showed them where to connect (more importantly, where not to connect) the humidifier water supply line so it wouldn't interfere with a heated floor system, and they paid attention. Did a nice tidy job of running the intake and exhaust PVC lines, and did a very nice job of sealing the area around the lines where they penetrate the house skin. Cleaned up well afterwards also.
Description of Work: Installed 90,000 BTU Lennox G51 92% efficiency furnace & Aprilaire humidifier ($350-included in price above); no ductwork; remove & replace 2" PVC intake, exhaust lines with 3" lines (about 15 feet). Since was replacing a relatively new furnace, it was simpler than a lot of furnace jobs are. Kind of like buying a car. You can guess at the list price, but that info is highly controlled by the manufacturer through the dealers, so between that and the labor charge, you just hope you're in the right ballpark On the financial side, it would have been helpful if the sales guy would have mentioned that we could put the charge on a credit card when I asked when & how they needed to be paid. The estimator said we'd need a check the day of install, but we called the office and they said they would take a credit card. We usually don't have that much sitting in a checking account, & with only 1 biz day between the furnace conking out & the installation, that could have been tricky.

My furnace stopped working and Midwest sent out a service technician 2 hours later (it was 30 degrees outside!) The technician (Steve) fixed the furnace (only needed to tab on a switch and it came on again), tested the system a few times, replaced the air filter and the filter for the humidifier, answered numerous questions of mine and made recommendations for heating/cooling improvements but did not push at all to make a sale. Very good conversation, was speedy, thorough (from what I can tell) - I was happy. The price he charged was - at my request - for a service contract for furnace and A/C servicing (the latter to be done in spring).

We received estimates from 3 local companies. All were pretty close, but we settled on Mid-West because it appeared the actual furnace and A/C were of better quality than the others we had looked at. If I remember correctly, they were 15 minutes early on the scheduled installation date! Installation was a breeze. Only problem, was that the salesman failed to write up some duct work that needed to be replaced. Since it wasn't on the work order, the installation guys had to go back to the shop to get the sheet metal and assorted supplies. Despite that, they were finished in one day. Once they were finished, they showed me all the nuts and bolts of how it all worked and how to change the filter on the humidifier. I offered them a few beers on the way out (off the record) and they politely declined. Very professional and courteous.

The whole process went well. We were pleased with the installation, except that the area around the furnace could have been left cleaner. My suggestion is for the installer to carry and use a hand vacuum to pick up small debris before leaving the installation site. We were pleased over all. We feel we were given a fair price. We also received one additional furnace filter at no charge. The cost of the emergency call on Sunday afternoon was deducted from the total cost of the bill.
Description of Work: During the heat wave on a Sunday afternoon in August, our air conditioner unit stopped working. We called Midwest Heating, Cooling and Plumbing. Within 2 hours, a repairman came and checked the unit. He determined that the 22 year old unit could not be repaired and had to be replaced. The company representative, Bob Epps, gave us a quote and ordered a new A/C unit. He also gave us a quote for a new furnace as part of a package. We decided on the A/C unit only. We were leaving on vacation the next day. We made arrangements to have the unit installed the day after our return. During our vacation, we changed our mind and ordered a new furnace to be installed with the A/C. Early the morning of the scheduled installation, we decided to add a humidifier and a whole-house cleaner unit to the package. Bob made arrangements to add that to the A/C and furnace order. The installers came shortly after and by 4:00pm, they were finished.

It went well. My repairman was named 'Dean'. He showed up early and for some reason, apologized for being early. Now that's service. He was nice enough to explain what he was doing. That must have been taxing because I know nothing about heating/ cooling. It took roughly an hour from start to finish. I thought that the price was a little high, but I have never had this work done before. For all I know, I could have been given a wonderful price. Read my description of the work done, and if you think it is worth it, this is a great company to use. Angie's List's coupon helps.

Crew arrived at scheduled time. They reviewed the job assignment in detail to be sure we all understood what I wanted to be done. Removal of old equipment was done carefully to avoid damage to stairs, interior doors and new floor surfaces. Salesman, Ken, called to make sure the job had started on time and make sure the job was going as promised. Ken later visited the job again to make sure everything was progressing on schedule and to assist the installers if anything was needed on the job. At end of installation, I was lead through all the work done and given a familiarization course on the new variable speed furnace and temp controller. Everything was neat and clean when crew left my home. A very good experience! Ken Duff was a key person in getting the job done right!

Jason Hipper contacted me after my initial inquiry with the main office. Jason actually bumped a lower priority job to fit me in (no A/C in 95 degree heat), arrived on-time and was very friendly. He explained my options and gave a competitive estimate. He scheduled us the first available day that worked for both of us and the crew arrived at 8:45 and they were done in approximately 3 hours. The install crew were also friendly and professional.

My air conditioner was not working. I called and left message Thursday after 5pm. Midwest contacted me at 6:30am Friday and we scheduled a time for the same afternoon. Tom arrived and saw that there was no electricity coming to the outside unit. He was hampered in his repair as my garage where the fuse box lived, had been semi-demolished by a very large oak tree. It was boarded up until contractor could schedule total replacement. Tom wanted to go in but I told him it was too dangerous. He then left but refused to take a service call fee. He said I had enough problems (after seeing the ruins of the garage. After consulting contractor, he told me that the barrier could be removed if the repairman was very careful and kept close to the wall. I called Midwest back at 4:30PM and asked if they would send someone even if it meant an extra charge. Keith arrived before 5PM Friday. He not only entered the ruins of the garage, he bravely replaced fuses and even furnace filter!
Description of Work: Two service calls in one day, air conditioner checked, fuses replaced, furnace filter replaced, air conditioner cleaned and coolant level checked. This was done despite "combat conditions" described below. These guys are heroes!

Ken Duff represented the company. He was polite, informed us about our needs because we are renovating a home from the 1920's. He didn't sell us on an oversized system we wouldn't need seeing we are expanding but only modestly. The crew arrived with great attitudes and plastic slippers over their shoes! Really no need since we're already in a camp-out situation, but the thought and respect was considerate. The job was finished earlier than expected and the old debris was hauled off. We enjoy our house and area and we don't live in the safest neighborhood but they treated us like we lived in Beverly Hills. We were very pleased.

Our 15+ year old heater was acting up. Sometimes it would just shut off unexpectedly and sometimes the furnace wouldn't light; it was a mess. I called Midwest, told them our problem, and within an hour I got a call from their guys saying they could be there in an hour. I actually was just expecting them to put me off for a day or so, had no idea they'd be that quick. They got there, had it working in minutes, and easily could have left, but they went to the trouble to take apart and clean the system to assure we would not have the same problem again. An easy job for them, I'm sure, but I really appreciated the extra effort they put into it.
