They didn't get the part ordered. We eventually called back. Then that part was not available, so they had to do a substitution. The new part did not get installed as neatly as the old. We also had them quote replacing the AC system. The quote came in very high compared with others, even with supposed discounts. There was next to no follow up from the sales group.

It was a very old heater. We had heard that we should replace it for a very expensive amount. These guys came out and just repaired it and did a fine job, it is still working! It saved us some money than having to buy a brand new one. Their price didn't knock my socks off one way or another. He was quick, in and out and good.

They seem to be very responsive especially in emergency situations. The people you call are very good taking your information & when you can expect somebody. Our most recent technician was good in explaining things.

Company came out and installed humidifier. When presented with a 10% off coupon which is in the Angie's List booklet, they refused to honor it saying this was only for a service call. I considered installation a service call and told them so. The technician called the office and spoke with the secretary and she said she would send us a check for 20% off the amount of the bill because we were unsatisfied when paying the bill. That was over 1 month ago and we have not received the 20% check.

They were easy to contact and set up an appointment with. When it was apparent that the air conditioner was not repairable, they gave us several options for replacement. Since our furnace was 15+ years old and had required several expensive repairs over the years we decided to replace it at the same time. They arrived when they said they would and completed the job in one day. There was no litter or mess when they were finished. They even sent in the paperwork to the utility company that qualities us for a discount on our utility bills.
Description of Work: Initially had them come out to check an air conditioner that wasn't working. It was old and not repairable so we decided to replace it with a heat pump and replace the old furnace at the same time.

Loved Tom! I thought he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and I would love to do business with him in the future. The estimate on the humidifier was lower than any others received and when we get ready to complete this repair, Midwest will get the business. Their estimate on the insulation was $400 cheaper than two other companies but at that time, we also were having our basement completed. The heating/ac subcontractor on that job asked to bid on this as well since they already had personnel at our house, and they offered us amazing contractor pricing which was $200 cheaper than Midwest. When we have future heating and a/c needs we will be calling Midwest!
Description of Work: We brought Midwest out to provide an estimate on insulating the heating/ac trunk line in our attic as well as replacing a broken humidifier on our furnace. While at the house, Tom looked at our a/c systems for possible review under the KCP&L Cool Homes program.

A/C went out over the weekend. Called the company Monday AM. The company indicated that they would call before coming and give a 30-minute window. Estimated that they could be there Tuesday after noon. The company called 10:30 am on Tuesday. The service man was in the driveway when I arrived at the house. The service man added Freon, replaced the contactor, and installed a timer. AC was back to normal and working fine.

I did not like how they priced the information. The unit is discounted if you qualify and pricing was given on an assumed qualification instead of a before qualification. They made me feel as though the price was inflated since they provided the pricing discounted before they knew if I would qualify for the discount form the local electric company KCPL. The representative reminded me of a used car salesperson.

They were very prompt and made sure we did not have discomfort from no air when we were babysitting our grandchildren. They installed the air conditioner the next day and were prompt and on time. They were back the same night to see if it was working properly. They also made an every attempt to save money by using the rebate from KCPL.

The service man charged me for the call. He told me my a/c was frozen and he couldn't do anything. He could run the heater to quickly de-thaw but that might get water in the heater. He said he wasn't sure when he could come back (they were VERY busy). That after yet another service call they prob have to do a "quick" line check (again because they were so busy). Of course they were SO busy who knows when they could be back.

WE DID RUN A SERVICE CALL AT THE MEMBERS HOME ON JULY 07,2008. WHEN OUR TECHNICIAN ARRIVED THE COOLING COIL WAS A FROZEN BLOCK OF ICE. BEFORE AN INTELLIGENT DIAGNOSIS CAN BE MADE, THE COIL MUST BE THAWED SO WE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM. WE OFFERED TO THAW IT OUT BY TURNING THE FURNACE ON TO ASSIST IN THE MELTING OF THE ICE AND INFORMED HER THAT WATER COULD LEAK DOWN INTO THE FURNACE. THE CUSTOMER CHOSE TO REFUSE THAT OFFER AND WAS TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO RETURN THE FOLLOWING DAY AFTER IT HAD THAWED NATURALLY. SHE EVEN SIGNED THE TICKET REFUSING THE OFFER. UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE UNABLE TO GIVE HER AN EXACT RETURN TIME AS WE ARRIVED AT 4:30PM AND OUR SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT THAT LATE IN THE DAY. HAD THE COIL NOT BEEN FROZEN, AS IT WAS WHEN THE NEXT COMPANY CAME, WE COULD HAVE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM ON THE SPOT AND FIXED IT. IT WAS THE CUSTOMERS CHOICE TO WAIT FOR THE REPAIR TO BE MADE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDING THAT THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCED, HOWEVER SHE CHOSE TO REFUSE AN IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND WAIT.
