They sent out a salesman who was the utmost professional. He explained every detail to our satisfaciton. They even had financing available. The workmen came early in the morning and got right to work. I could not believe how fast and efficient they were. They were done in under 2 hours, testing the system and all! They are awesome! I wish they did more than just heating & Plumbing. I would trust them with any problem in my house.
Description of Work: We had a non-functioning heating/cooling system over our garage. They found a safety issue with our furnace, and put us next in line for the replacement, because they felt it was a dangerous situation.

I called monday and set up service for wednesday (my option). My A/C did not start up this season. The tech arrived early afternoon and took about an hour to determine the problem. I had a new thermostat installed last fall, and the KCPL contractor apparently wired the cooling side wrong. The Midwest tech doublechecked the wiring, then rewired and tested the operation. I appreciate the care he took in checking out the slightly complicated control paths, but that also added a $40 time charge to the service call.
Description of Work: determined cause of A/C failure. Corrected wiring. Tested system after fix.

Contacted Midwest Heating Cooling & Plumbing to give us a competitive bid to replace a 7.5 ton rooftop unit. They were able to schedule a visit the next day to check the unit and gather information to prepare a bid. Tim was prompt and professional and provided a competitive bid for services in a very timely manner. We were very impressed with their level of service but in the end we accepted the bid of our current HVAC provider.

We were very pleased. Since we have a contract we were able to move to the front of the list. It was zero degrees outside and they were at our home within an hour and a half. We were pleased to get our furnace up and running again.

Dick Ray did a good job on the heater. He replaced some pipes that were feeding the water heater too. They did a lot better job on it than was done before. There was a 12-year guarantee or warranty on the heater. I?m not sure how the price of $1800 would compare. I would rate them highly.

Pleased with the sales presentation, the actual unit installation, the promptness of the owers showing up (although we'd already cleaned it up), and their attempt to appease us. Not pleased with issues with the bathroom area or that we have to call for the follow through that was promised a month ago.
Description of Work: Midwest installed new heating and air conditioning. The installation, overall, was fine, but there were a few side issues dealing with the way the house was left. Owners were very responsive and came the next day to view what we talked with them about, and they worked hard to make us happy. One element of their offered compensation arrived the same day; the next we called about after two weeks, since it hadn't shown up; now a month out and one still hasn't arrived. Guess we'll call again.

The price was reasonable and competitive. I chose them from Angies list. I did not do a lot of a price shopping but comparing with the services done over the years I think their price was reasonable. The person who came out was on time and he seemed knowledgeable. He worked right through it without any dilly dallying around. The work that he has done seems to be fine. Our furnace is no longer made. It has a unique pulse point and not many know about them. Many people don?t know how to service them or repair them. So they sent the person who was experienced in this area. They sent the right person for the right job. The price included the service charge, price of some parts and the price for checking out the whole system.

I contacted Midwest on a Friday afternoon to get a bid to replace my furnace, which wasn't working. Because it wasn't working Midwest's rep, Tom DeDecker, came out on a Sunday afternoon because we were having trouble scheduling a time for Monday or Tuesday. I was impressed that he came out on his day off. He answered all my questions and gave me a very competitive bid.

Their bid was the least expensive of 3 bids and we received excellent service. Ken Duff came out within 2 days of being contacted, submitted a bid within 1 day and then we scheduled the installation for 3 days later. The installation team was efficient, professional, and very neat while they worked. I will always use them in the future!

We orignally planned to do this after we find the best price/performance by doing our homework. We had a total of 5 contractors visit our home to offer advice and provide estimates. One cancelled at the last minute and never rescheduled and another provided questionable advice based upon the input we had from those who seemed to really understand what we wanted to do. Midwest was the last contractor i called. Ken made himself available immediatly; coming out the next day. He then took the time needed to ensure he understand what our concerns were. When he provided estimates within a short time later, he made sure he addressed those items we asked about and even made a point to email and call several times to get clarification. Midwest also provided several options, which we wanted, but they didn't make me keep asking for them. When i wanted to consider a different unit or model they would immediately offer advice, provide specifications and let me know the impact on our quote. Our current system stopped working while we were still looking at options. I told Midwest we wanted to go with them as they had the best product/price combination and had a very good reputation. They setup an appointment to install the new system in 4 days. They then called and indicated they thought they could do it the next day! We were a bit nervous about them wanting to go sooner; but without AC it was a welcome idea. the next morning, craig and his crew showed up and did the job. There weren't happy with some of the sheetmetal they had prepared, so they ask the shop to customzie some pieces to better fit. They had several challenges, but immediatly brought other people in to resolve them - and they addressed every issue without ever once suggesting it would change our price. The job took until about 8PM to finish, but they were determined to get our system running. The crew was excellent and knew what they were doing. The provided explanations for any questions and showed us how everything worked. It is running well and they have even contacted us since they installed it just to make sure we didn't have any other questions or concerns. This was the best experience with a contractor i have ever had and I very highly recommend working with Midwest. They are competitive in price without having to beg them to be and the don't compromise on doing the job right. It just wouldn't make sense to take a chance with any one else in my opinion.
Description of Work: We needed to replace our 20 year old all electric 5 ton heating and cooling system. The system had never performed well and was in-efficient. This was a fairly substantial job because we changed the furnace to gas and needed the ventilation and gas line as well. Oh - and our current system stopped working while we were evaluating our options - so it became important to us to have this done quickly.

I made an appointment for June 9 (I called to set up the appointment a little less than a week before that). On June 9, Tim showed up on time. Unfortunately, it started pouring down rain shortly after he arrived and he was unable to do the job. The office called me so that we could reschedule. We rescheduled the appointment for 7:30 a.m. on June 11. (I could have rescheduled for June 10, but that day was not convenient for me.) On June 11, Tim showed up on time and performed the work. On both occasions, he was pleasant and professional and knew what he was doing.
Description of Work: My air conditioning was not working. The fan worked but the air was not being cooled at all. It turned out my system had a bad TXV (thermostatic expansion valve). A new one was installed and everything is working fine now.

Ken came out after 5pm and talked with us for almost an hour. He knew the history we'd had with his company as well as the recent svc appts we'd paid for. He talks without an "OFF" switch, but this is a really good man. Seriously, List readers. He is to be trusted. He's been doing this for like 20+ years, but we've stayed with this firm b/c of people like him and his installation team that tries everything possible to do the job right. He considered all the options to getting us a great, solid unit and then (b/c I was hosting a family reunion THIS WEEKEND and couldn't be without power, jumped through hoops to get it installed the very next day. His installers had to pull out the breaker on my stove to get the AC installed, so I had to get an electrican to rewire our entire, ancient electrical box (the breakers on this box were 70 years old, and VERY hard to find.) Ken didn't leave me without calling an electrician that he said has never failed him, and that wonderful man came out and redid our electrical box on Friday, the day before everyone was coming. And on top of that, this gentlemen charged me a very reasonable fee to do everything 'spur of the moment.' This company is worth their weight in gold. If you are up against the clock and need SERIOUS help, they will listen, and pull contacts from heaven-knows-where, to assist.
Description of Work: We called these folks to service our AC unit a month ago, when it wasn't working. After a few hundred dollars, the svc guy killed several field mice in the unit and rewired quite a bit, and got it working for the first time since last fall (when it ended the season working fine.) We had a cool spell and didn't turn it on for a week. Once again, it wasn't working and another svc tech came out and spent about 90 minutes trying to get us started again. Fine, we worked that day and didn't turn it on for about 5 more days. Once more, not working, so I called their sales dept and asked them to come out that very evening to give us a bid on a brand new AC unit. (The one we had was a Lennox that was top of the line when it was installed in 1981...so okay, it was almost 30 years old, but these guys had serviced us every year and kept it working until this year when it seemed impossible without putting their svc dept on our own personal payrolls).

The installation team that came out would be described as a Laurel and Hardy act. If they could do anything wrong, they did it. When they brought the furnace, it was the wrong one. When they came back with the correct furnace, they were missing parts. Then after it was installed, they broke it by installing the ductwork improperly. With everything that was done, we found ourselves with no heat in the middle of winter. I will say that after all this; the repairman that responded to all the problems was very responsive. He did an excellent job taking care of us. They arranged a unit for our home to give us heat while we waited for our furnace to be fixed. They went as far as to track down our same furnace and find parts that would allow our furnace to work. Even though they redeemed themselves by fixing the problems, I can't recommend this company, because of their installation team.

When I called to see about an estimate they set up an appointment right away and Ken came out right on time. He was my first estimate and shared a lot of useful information. He spent much more time colelcting info than other bidders. I had numerous questions and Ken was always available and very helpful. When I decided to hire Midwest, they came out the next day and installed the entire system and were done before 5:00. When I got home I couldn't even tell they had been there(except for the new system installed)
