Mike Epps, our salesperson, visited when scheduled and did a thorough whole house inspection to determine the correct sizing of the units to handle our needs. Mike explained the process in easy to understand terms and was able to answer our questions to our satisfaction. Midwest's estimate was well below the quote we had received from our current service provider. We felt comfortable based on reviews from Angie's list and the details of the job described in their estimate. It snowed on the install date, but that did not deter the crew from arriving on time or completing the install in the estimated time. We are happy with the communication that we had with both the sales and install teams throughout the process. The crew used drop cloths to keep the area clean and cleaned up nicely when finished. We are completely satisfied with Midwest and will likely use them for our future heating & a/c service needs.

An excellent experience overall, highly recommend and would will use again as needed.
Description of Work: Technician determined the problem with our furnace, had the necessary part with him, and had it repaired and functioning within ten minutes of arrival. He arrived at the appointment on time, phoning before so I could meet him at the house. He was professional and very competent, honest and trustworthy.

The technician was very helpful and the repair went very smoothly.
Description of Work: Had a leak in the second floor bathroom that leaked through the ceiling. The technician tried to fix it inexpensively first (which I appreiciated), but when that didn't work he came back and cut a hole in the ceiling and fixed the leak.

This was an amazing experience! I called the company and was connected with Ken Duff. I explained my problem, the fire department had been out and verified the carbon monoxide, a repair man with another company had checked and said it needed to be replaced but gave a very expensive quote and a wait time of days. Mr. Duff took the info about the furnace, said he would check and call me back, but he thought they could handle the problem. By 3:30 or so he was at my house taking measurements, talking to his crew and when he finished that, he said his crew would be out in about an hour to replace the furnace. Sure enough they arrived around 5:30 and had the new furnace in and running before 8:00. All men were extremely polite, helpful, efficient, considerate and caring. They didn't want me to face the 20 degree temperatures without a furnace and they provided me with same day, actually same afternoon service and I can't thank them enough. I will use them from now on and I will recommend them to everyone. I am completely amazed at this customer service. Also, Amanda took care of the financial end over the phone with an offer of help at any time. The two installers had to be exhausted after starting work at 6:00 AM but they wouldn't quit till all was done, perfectly cleaned up and warming my house with a nice new furnace.
Description of Work: Removal of my furnace which was giving off carbon monoxide and installation of a new furnace the same afternoon I called. Absolutely unbelievable!

The appointment went well. They were on time and professional. Best of all they did not try to sell expensive "add-ons". The only negative was that they were scheduling out over a month when we called, but this could have been due to the influx of work from the Angie's List deal.

The technichian was punctual, courteous, and professional. He did an outstanding job of cutting into the ductwork, removing the old coil, installing the new one, and then fabricating new panels and ductwork to insure a professional and neat looking installation. I was very impressed and would recommend them.

July was not a cool month, and after having our regular servicemen out to find out why the A/C would stop working a few times, we finally diagnosed the HVAC/Furnace as the culprit. In order to get a competitive price, we got a quote from our regular servicemen, and then called Midwest. The price alone was unbeatable, but what impressed us even more was their willingness to work out some rather poor designs in the house. Prior to having them out to remove the old equipment and install the new, we discovered that a duct in the garage (feeding the bonus room above) was not even remotely attached (8" going into a 10" with no attempt at sealing it off). I spoke at length with Midwest (names escape me) about this issue, and we finally decided on a very fair price. The only minor work was taking down unfinished drywall to expose the offending ducts. Additionally, the serviceman identified that there was a lack of return air being generated due to the poor configuration of ducts in the basement. Essentially, air would simply "sit" in the basement (cool in summer, hot in winter) and stagnate. With aesthetics in mind, he drew up a plan to add a return vent coming off the HVAC. The service work was done at the date and time promised, the extra work of sealing the ducts and installing the return vent were done with the highest level of professionalism possible, and the end result (~5 months later now) is our house is appropriately heated and cooled with a significant reduction in those bills.
Description of Work: Midwest removed an approximately 23 year-old furnace system, installed a new, 80% efficient furnace with variable speed motor, built a return air duct in the basement from scratch, and finally helped seal some very shoddy duct work from a previous homeowner.

I was provided with an accurate estimate. The plumber arrived on time and explained the steps in removing the old water heater and installing the new one. Very neat and particular with the installation. I have also used the plumber in the past for small plumbing problems. Always on time, courteous, neat, and gets the job done.

This was my first purchase of a heating and cooling system, so I was a little concerned that I might make a mistake. I had 5 companies come and give me quotes. Midwest was not the cheapest, but represented the best value. They listened to my requests for how I wanted the system to work. The installers did a great job of thinking through the installation before they put in the system. The result was exactly what I wanted: An efficient system, installed correctly. My advice is to look for a company that listens to your needs and do not focus solely on price. Many of the furnace systems are very similar. The installation makes all the difference in the world. A poorly installed system will perform poorly. From start to finish, Midwest did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We purchased a house with a very old heating system. Shortly after we moved in the blower motor went out and we decided to replace the system instead of repairing it. Midwest connected me with Ken and he gave me a few quotes with options that would meet my budget. In the end we ended up replacing the heater and AC unit due to what was discovered during the tear down of the old system.

Steve is our preferred serviceman......always has been since we purchased new furnace. It's like having an old friend drop buy for a visit. He gets the job done and always explains what he is doing and why.
Description of Work: Called in the morning and requested a new furnace filter. Two hours later I received a call from the serviceman saying he would be over in 15 minutes. Please see above. We were very happy with the result.
Description of Work: purchased new furnace and air conditioning unit at the same time. Dealt with several companies. The sales representative, Ken ( I think Huff or Duff was last name), was very realistic, informed, and offered several options. The units he suggested for us (unlike some others) were neither overpriced nor higher tech than we needed. Pleasant, congenial, no high pressure. Provided detailed info on the units, efficiency rating, etc.

It went great and I can repeat what I said above, but it really seems redundant. Not sure what the difference is in the questions since it calls for the same information. Your field calling for a work date should not be something that keeps a review from being submitted. The work date filled in is not accurate, but there it is in order to get the review submitted.
Description of Work: They both installed and serviced our air conditioner, have checked our furnace, and have done plumbing work - all service work and the plumbing in 2012. Plumbing in summer and checked our furnace late summer, early fall. Do not remember how much it was, but we made calls to several places on the plumbing and chose them because of our experience with them in heating and cooling. We were very pleased with the work they did and would not hesitate and I'm sure will hire them again.

Midwest installed a heating pump for me in 2010. The unit outside the home was making a terrible rattling sound, like it was struggling to run. I'm doing this review a few months later, but I think it was in July or August - the hottest time of the year. Even though I didn't have a service contract with them, they were at my house in a matter of just a couple hours. The part (compressor sensor?) was covered under the Lennox warranty. I ended up signing a service agreement with them, so the service call was reduced.
Description of Work: Replaced compressor on heat pump, which was covered under Lennox warranty. After diagnosing the problem, the repairman had to leave to get the part and return. It was fixed in a matter of minutes after he returned with the part.

Technicians did a great job. Kevin who was the lead tech had worked on a previous job for me and had done a very good job. He and his assistant arrived on time and they completed the work when they said they would, put down a tarp to keep the floors clean, and cleaned everything up before they left. He provided instructions on how the units operated and told us to call if there were any follow-up questions or concerns.

PERFECT I WANTED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL REBATES POSSIBLE. I WANTED MAXIMUM ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR THE PRICE I WAS WILLING TO PAY I WANTED SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO ME AND BE FAIR AND HONEST. I took many bids. Some representatives were rude, or pushy, one was even bullying. I am an "old" widow on my own so I think I might look vulnerable or stupid. Several wanted to sell me larger units than my little home requires. One disparaged products of others. I got bids from $6,000 to $10,000+. Super deluxe heating and a/c would be too expensive and would not be consistent with my little home. Time was running out on the government and electric company rebates. The 30 year-old units that came with the old house I bought were useless. I had to buy. But I would wait for the best deal. The representative from Midwest Heating and A/C was businesslike yet very nice. He listened to what I said and put together just what I wanted. I even got a manufacturer's rebate. It was a relief to do business with a person who just wanted to provide what I needed and wanted. I had thought I wanted off brand units. I found I could get high quality Lennox with an incredible warranty for the same price. With all the rebates, I ended up paying only $3,400. HOORAY! The units were installed without any problems. A part needed to be replaced and it was done right away. My winter heating cost went down 66%! It went down from the $300 prior residents had paid to about $55 for me. I now pay an average of $60 more a month for electricity when I use my air conditioner....this hot strange summer of 2012 was more. but nothing like huge bills I heard about. HOORAY!
Description of Work: INSTALLED NEW 95% EFFICIENT 2 STAGE GAS FURNACE AND 16 SEER A/C. Heating and a/c check ups since. The cost above is after all of the rebates I got.
