Went very well. Showed up on time,in fact, I was late leaving work to get home and when I called the service men to give me another 10 minutes to get there they had no problem with that. They were efficient, courteous and professional. I had tried another company to install and they never returned my calls even tho they said they were interested in doing the work. I scheduled an appointment with "Midwest" one day after contacting and they showed up at scheduled time. Would use them again with no hesitation.
Description of Work: Installed a Humidifier to my home furnace.

I setup an appointment with Midwest 2 days ahead. They said they would be at my house between noon and 4:00pm. I take off work to wait only nobody shows up. I called them to ask. The girl who answered asked my address to confirm. Then she put me on hold to ask who has my ticket. She came back to inform me that my information was not in their schedule system. I asked if they could come out now to which she said they dont have any open spots till the next day afternoon between 2 and 5. I told her to schedule me for that slot; and low and behold she has my name and phone number already in her system. She never appologized for screwing up my appointment. I called another company and they were able to come out immediately. I wont be calling midwest again.
Description of Work: They never showed up and then pretended they didnt have my scheduled information.

Response from Midwest Heating Cooling & Plumbing
According to our call log to the service department, [member name removed] called in yesterday for the first time since 1997 for a service call. He then called back within a few minutes to try and negotiate the price of the call. Unsuccessful, he called back a few minutes later and cancelled the call. The reason we had his records and phone number was from his records we had from 1997. The schedule system only has current calls that have been scheduled. That is why when he called back we were able to see his information when it came up on the main database and not on our scheduling software. If we miss a call, we will admit to it as we all make mistakes and we would certainly apologize to the customer in such an instance. I'm sorry for any misunderstanding that [member name removed] experienced.

I have had a maintenance agreement with Midwest for several years while living in various locations in the metro. I continue to do business with them because the techs don't try to pressure me to buy something I don't need. Their charges are very reasonable. They just do their best to keep my aging equipment functioning well. If you live in the Raymore, Belton, South KC area, be sure to request John as your tech. He provides the best service, is courteous, and doesn't leave your house a mess.
Description of Work: Performed fall tuneup under service maintenance agreement then replaced solenoid valve on humidifier attached to furnace.

Midwest Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing responded to my Angie's List purchase by the next day. Since the problem was not an emergency, I felt there was no problem in waiting five days for the service call. Scott called before he came and was prompt about arriving at the agreed-upon time. Scott had to replace the faucet. Because of that, he also had to reconfigure the pipe a bit to ensure the angle of the faucet maintained the self-draining feature. We were impressed by how little time it took him to figure out the problem and resolve it. Not only was Scott quite professional about his plumbing work, he was also very pleasant. The faucet seems to work fine now. The only reason I gave a "B" for the price is that I haven't needed a plumber for awhile, and the non-deal price seemed a little high to me. However, you also get what you pay for. At this point I feel that we might have spent a little more money, but we also received the benefit of Scott's knowledge and expertise.
Description of Work: Scott repaired an outside faucet whose stem valve had broken. He also reassured us (not the smartest people about plumbing) that another outside faucet was self-draining as we had been told.

The process of replacing my gas furnace and A/C started with my own research about the manufacturer, model, and level of efficiency for current HVAC systems in the marketplace. Throughout my preliminary research I learned two important factors. 1) Selecting the right company to install and maintain your HVAC system is perhaps more important than determining which manufacturer/model to have installed. 2) It is important to have the correct size unit installed into your home. A good company will take the time to consider all factors and recommend the right heating and A/C unit for your home, whereas a company which focuses on sales will provide you with an ?estimation? of what your home needs and may not take the time to determine your needs or perform all the proper testing. HINT: If a company representatives asks a few questions and then goes straight to a ?guide? that already claims to match the right heating and cooling system for your home, then you?re dealing with a person interested in the sale. After reviewing Angie?s List I selected 4 companies that I believed would meet my needs and requested each company to provide an estimate for replacing my HVAC. Throughout the entire process I remained in constant communication with all 4 companies and shared with all of them what each company was recommending about the systems and services they were offering. As a homeowner and potential client I wanted the best system for my home and didn?t care that all of these companies were competitors, so discretion during this process was not in my best interest. Right away two companies focused on why the other company?s proposals were bad options and didn?t highlight why their product and services would be a better choice. I thanked those two companies for their time and decided not to proceed with them. Of the remaining 2 companies (Midwest being one of them) I will admit I had a tough choice to make. I was very happy with both proposals, the heating/AC systems they were recommending were highly rated, and both companies were extremely professional throughout the entire process and were highly rated on Angie?s List. I eventually selected Midwest Heating & Cooling after speaking with my neighbor and learning he also used their services and was extremely happy with them as a company. Midwest Heating and Cooling did an excellent job of coming to my home and recommending a new gas furnace and A/C unit that meet all my needs and was in line with what was needed for my home after conducting a battery of tests. They also listened to all of my questions and everything I was telling them about the other proposals I received. Midwest even came back out to my house to verify they didn?t miss anything when I informed them about other recommendations I was given. In the end Midwest went above and beyond my expectations as a company to ensure I was making the best selection for my new furnace and A/C. On the date of installation the service technicians were very professional and efficient. They removed the old system and installed the new one with no problems, and spent the time to go over everything and answer all of my questions. As a service to me, Midwest completed all paperwork pertaining to rebates and warranties and took the time make sure everything was in order so I wouldn't have any problems. In the four months since installation the new system has been running better than expected and I have already seen a reduction in my energy bills. I am looking forward to maintaining a long working relationship with Midwest Heating and Cooling to ensure my Lennox system is running at peak performance.
Description of Work: I had the heating and air conditioner replaced with a Lennox high efficiency gas, variable speed gas furnace and 21 SEER dual stage air conditioner. The system being replaced was the original system installed when the home was built in 1998.

I called and left a message that i needed an estimate and was called back within hours and we set a time and date. Micheal Epps came out and we talked about what I wanted and the types of equipment that would handle my needs. He then walked me thru how everything would work if we picked his company and what would be required of us. He then took all his measurements and worked up the estimate. We ended up going with another company who offered a 12 year parts and labor as well as a 2 year maintenance for the same price as his bid. In all fairness I should of called micheal to see if he could match it but got so excited over the 12 labor coverage i just jumped on the competitors bid.

The tech was punctual and very professional. He gave me an honest opinion regarding the 20 year old furnace system in the house. He also volunteered a verbal quote on what it would cost to fix the problem as well as a brand new furnace. He was happy to answer all of my questions and more. Overall the costs of repair vs a new product seem reasonable. I will definitely be contacting them in the near future to install a new furnace in the home after closing on our house.

My 13 year old A/C went out at the end of the previous summer, and because the original unit was undersized (would run all day long on very hot days and not keep up, even when new), I elected to do a complete replacement which unfortunately meant I also had to replace the furnace. I wanted to increase the A/C from 4 tons to a 5 tons, which was tricky due to the duct size in my house. I obtained estimates from three companies, one of which said it couldn't be done and two who's prices seemed out of line. I was then referred to Midwest by a friend who had recently had a new system installed in his house. Bob Epps from Midwest came out and was fantastic at explaining the issues to me (a picky engineer) and offering several options to deal with my specific situation and concerns. He assured me that the 5 ton unit would be no problem and explained how he would make it work. I ended up going with a Trane two-stage A/C, two-stage furnace, variable speed fan, and Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen thermostat. The price was very reasonable compared to the other bids, for a better system. I specifically waited until we had some very hot days here in Kansas City before writing this review, so I could make sure my A/C was performing properly. There were a couple of hiccups with getting the dual stages to work correctly with the new thermostat, but Midwest came out right away and corrected the issues. Everything works great now. The system is super quiet most of the time on the low speed and low stages, and kicks in to the higher stages periodically on really hot or cold days. Our upstairs bedrooms stays cool during summer nights thanks to the variable speed fan constantly circulating air throughout the house. I am VERY happy with the system I have and that I went with Midwest. I really feel like Bob went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the system.

They took the old systems apart in stages so that we never completely lost air conditioning during the replacement. They worked expertly, efficiently and neatly. They adapted the systems to accomodate unusual flexible Polypro vents through the chimney flues, rather than venting out the sidewalls (we purchased the Polypro and had it installed using separate companies). They made special efforts to accommodate our wishes, such as burying the lines to the new condensers and utilizing the Polypro. They had good attitudes and manners in their dealings with us. Excellent work at a very competitive price.

If you are not using this firm you should be. Mike Epps the sales rep is a super nice guy and does what he says he will. Midwest H&C replaced a heat pump and everything went fine except for one miner problem that was caused by a different firm. Midwest H&C took care of the problem and everything turned out great. We even had the service manager John involved to see that things turned out ok since we had a tenant that had been out of town and returned to a very hot house. Jon and Sigi the installers were polite and professional. About 1 year ago Midwest H&C replaced a furnace at my residence and I met John Girvin Asst service manager and Scott service tec and they also were polite, professional and went beyond what they had to do

Larry, the plumber, had given me the original estimate. Despite some unexpected challenges due to the water lines under the floor not being where they were supposed to be and the subsequent extra work involved, he did a very nice job. The job was bigger and took a bit longer than expected but it was completed without extra cost to me as he stood by the original estimate. I am again very pleased by the work he did and am glad to find a competent, hardworking and honest plumber to rely upon. I definitely recommend his work.

They were not very professional. I don’t like how the system is working though. Overall, it was not a good experience at all. I think I needed a different company that handles this type of furnace. I don’t think they can fix the problem. They sent a technician out but he was worthless. Initially the work started on Tuesday and they installed the heating system and the installation was okay except that the next day we did not have any hot water because they failed putting that back on. But the problem initially was; we had a pad that they put the air conditioner on the outside, and the representative, initially when we were discussing said that he would replace the pad. Our pad was not large enough for the air conditioning unit, so they tried to jimmy-rig this whole system and it just looked horrible. So the representative was here and he ended up calling a friend that could make the pad larger with cement; it was a cement pad. So they came out on Wednesday and amended on that, said nothing was to be put on it for forty-eight hours. The man showed up to put the air conditioning on Thursday and we said, no. I had made sure that the man that came out had notified the representative that nothing should be done to it for forty-eight hours. But apparently, that wasn’t relayed between the representative and the workman. They wasted a trip out here on Thursday and they said they couldn’t do it Friday and they would do it Saturday and they came out on Saturday and it was fine. I was in Arizona at that time and I had written out a check because we had discussed that we would pay cash for the discount. Lo and behold they would not accept a check that was not cash and that flabbergasted us. So as it turned out on Monday the representative came and he and my husband went to the bank and the banker authorized the check and made him sign a lean-waiver that they actually received money. So that was our experience with Midwest Heating and Cooling. But the problem that has occurred now is the inside of the house, the motor is loud especially the one into the house sounds like an engine running. Also at the end of the cycle motor winding down, you hear this popping noise. It is in the duct work, back hose, end of the furnace and that is when I called a technician to come look at it and he really did basically nothing. He changed the filter and that was it, he told me sit down there and watch when it was popping and then they would try to do something. This man was a retired engineer and I don’t know that he knew what he was doing.
