We needed to have our AC system looked at because it wasn't cooling. I carefully waded through all the reviews on Angie's List and chose two Super Service Award providers to call. My first call was to Midwest Heating and Cooling. I placed a phone call at 9:11 am on May 12, 2015. I got a recording identifying the company and asked me to leave a message. I left my name, my phone number, and message that I wanted to set up an appointment for service with our AC. Today is June 9, 2015, and the call has never been returned. After waiting two days for the call back, I called the second provider on my list, which was Top Notch Heating and Cooling. (You can read my glowing review of their service) I'm not sure how this company got the Super Service Award. Customer service begins with that initial phone call. It left us feeling like they didn't WANT us as customers, since they couldn't be bothered to call us back. I double checked my phone records to be certain of the date and time I made the call. And again, the answering machine identified that I had reached the correct number. I speak clearly, and I know I left a good message on the machine. UPDATE: After reading the response from the owner, I want to point out that my call was not made after hours. It was a Tuesday morning during their listed business hours.

The installation was not an easy one but the installers Sigi and Jon were top notch and worked all day to complete the work. I can't say enough good about them. When the pieces for the furnace arrived, the sizing on one of the pieces would not allow Sigi to install it. He was extremely efficient in determining a solution to the problem and getting it resolved promptly with a custom piece. Jon was the same with the air conditioning, it was not an easy install, but he identified the problems and was very efficient in his installation. The chimney liner was also a bit of a challenge but the two of them managed to get it installed correctly.
Description of Work: Removed old furnace, installed new high efficiency furnace and air-conditioning unit and ran stainless utility flu through the chimney for water heater.

We had called around the local area to find the best prices and service for heating and cooling our newly purchased rehab home and found Midwest Heating very close to our home. Kenny came out to give us a bid and was very upfront with costs and equipment differences. We were very impressed with his can-do attitude and no-nonsense appeal. He was willing to work with our semi-unknown schedule as we had a few other things to get finished before we could set the furnace (there was no electricity, ducting, or gas in the house at all). When we were ready, he was there with his team: one guy installed the ducts in a day and two others installed the furnace and AC the next day. It was early enough in the season that we didn't need the heat yet, so when we finally turned it all on and found some problems (we forgot to put vents in the basement ceiling), Kenny was right back to orchestrating their installment. When the kitchen was finished and we realized that a duct went right under the trash drawer (oops), we took a trip to the shop and they quickly designed an under-counter vent so we didn't heat our trash. Everybody in the shop and the front desk are super nice!! We were super happy! We even had them template our soffit vent covers and they cut them within the hour for a very reasonable price. Thank you, guys!! You're awesome!! We still have the basement to finish and need some cold-air returns, but we expect no difficulties when that time comes. We would definitely recommend Midwest!

I like them very much. I have been using them on and off for the last 6-7 years. It's $252 for a year on contract which covers both spring and fall. Of all the HVAC folks I have used, they have been the most consistent. They seem to be very punctual, very neat, they clean up after themselves, and they are courteous. They are very good in explaining what they are doing and they do not try to push any other products unless I ask.

He was very professional, was there on time, and explained everything very well. I don't know anything about my system but he made it easy to understand. The system was in bad shape and he gave us several ways to assist with making it work properly and let us know our options for replacement as well.

My furnace had stopped running. The temperature was dropping inside. I called Midwest and spoke with their answering service to get an emergency appointment. Within 5 minutes Steve called. He was at my home within 30 minutes. He had a good idea what the problem was based on the description I gave him over the phone. Steve confirmed the issue was as he thought. He explained the issue and what he would do to correct the problem. Steve was very nice and professional.

Service was fine. my unit is very old, plus 20 years, so my technician told me that I probably shouldn't bother with some update because I would likely be buying a new furnace in the future. I gave a B for responsiveness because I called in October and the earliest appointment I could get was early December. more my fault for waiting than theirs.

Tyler the tech is very good at explaining what he was doing. The humidistat was mounted on the supply and it should have been on the wall he fixed that and some wires that were not connected properly he explained a lot about the humidifier to me that I did not know. I really appreciate Tyler I'm glad to know that there are still some good honest people out there that are not just about the money. Thanks Tyler

The price paid was for the yearly maintenance contract and for resolving the issues with the humidifier. We purchased this home in July and wanted to make sure all HVAC systems were functioning as they should. I previously purchased an Angie's List deal for another provider and was left very confused and a little ticked off. This other provider simply said (without checking anything out) that our system wasn't big enough to handle our house and that we'd need a separate system for upstairs to make any difference. I did some of my own research on our system and things that tech said just didn't add up. Since Midwest had been the company to install this heat pump, we decided to give them a call. Once I explained to the Midwest tech what the other company had said, he came to the same conclusion I did - that other company was just interested in making the sale. Our system was just the right size for our house and is a high-quality system. The Midwest tech was able to quickly resolve an issue with our whole-home humidifier that the other guys didn't even bother to look at. He also checked out the system from top to bottom with all sorts of pressure-hose gadgets and tools and said everything checked out just fine. The Midwest tech was very patient and answered every question in great detail. He provided options and possible solutions for what few issues we had and took the time to explain everything very clearly. He absolutely knew his stuff! I felt completely comfortable signing up for their yearly maintenance plan (I asked if they had one - he never pressured me for one moment). These guys are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable from setting up the appointment to showing them out the door. Usually I'm a little annoyed when service people leave their company stickers all over the place, but in this case I'm really glad that Midwest did!
Description of Work: Checked out the HVAC system and resolved an issue with the whole-house humidifier. EXCELLENT service all-around! The tech was polite and helpful - he explained everything very clearly and obviously knew what he was talking about. Great experience!

We returned home Wed. at midnight from a trip out of the country to an internal house temp of 52 degrees on our main floors. Fortunately we are dual zoned and the upstairs system was working fine where the bedrooms were. I went immediately to Angie's list first thing in the morning and identified Midwest Heating and Cooling as the company I wanted. I called them and my call was immediately answered by their service that told me they were taking calls on an "as they come in basis" and I would hear back from a service agent after 10am and they would give me a time. I should mention that the windchill was -10 in KC that day and I am certain I was not their only call!! The service tech called as promised and was there within a couple of hours. He looked at our system and determined we would need a new main furnace unit, which was what we suspected. The house was 14 years old and it was the original unit. He said a tech would come measure for the system the next day and they would order the system and it would be installed on Saturday. The tech came the next morning and called that afternoon (Friday) and said he had a crew that could get it in yet that day. They came that same day and installed the new furnace and hauled away all of the old. They cleaned our furnace room totally and were extremely professional. They applied runners to our carpets in the entire area to and from where they were working. My husband is very hard to impress having spent his career in commercial construction but he raved about how professional, thorough and neat they were. We HIGHLY recommend this company to everyone!

lAt 4:30 on Thursday afternoon called Midwest to report that our heating unit which we purchased less than six months ago was not working. It is cold and we needed heat. Well, the office was closed at 4:30. Got the emergency number and called and the lady said she would contact a technician. At 8:00 we get a call from Scott. He said he could not make it tonight nor could he make it early in the morning. He could be there after 10:00am in the morning. I asked him if there was anything I could do and all he asked was what York unit I had and then hung up. I truly hope that no one else is ever fooled by the salesman from Midwest or ever buys a York. All their talk about service and customer care is bull. How could you be a customer focused firm in the winter and let someone spend the night without heat. Do not be fooled, don't buy and don't call them for service!

There was a misunderstanding between the customer and our service tech. He actually showed up at their house at 10:00 pm that night. He did not have the exact part he needed to complete the repair and he was able to temporarily fix the problem to provide them heat until we can return the next day with the proper part and do a permanent fix. Any brand of equipment can have a problem, we know as we carry several including York. The difference is in how the company that installs it responds when there is a problem. We will never leave our customers without heat in the cold winter months. I apologize for the confusion on his response but I am happy we were able to get you taken care of and restore the heat in your home and hopefully your faith in us and our products. We will never install inferior products that tarnish our reputation. We have worked very hard to maintain nothing but the highest standards in customer services. Thanks for your business!

I was out of town in Texas when my sister called me and told me her furnace was out and it was down to 60 degrees in her house. I was so stressed because her 2 grandbabies, ages 3 and 11 months live there with her. I called Midwest and requested an emergency call back. Greg called me within minutes and said he was on his way. He had it fixed and called me back within 2 hours letting me know the temperature was up to 72 degrees when he left. I almost cried. He was so fast and allowed me to pay him over the phone. I couldn't believe it was only $138 and no parts required to fix it. This was an emergency call on a Saturday in December and I figured at the very least, it would be Sunday before he could get to me. I could not have been happier. Greg told me the furnace was 26 years old and they should be replaced within 15-20 years so I will be getting a new furnace after the first of the year and will be happy to give Midwest my business.
