One of my garage doors has never worked right, I have lived in my house for many years and can't remember ever being able to use the garage door operator for it, we tried to have it fixed but most people just wanted to replace it not fix it. It wasn't our main garage door so we just learned to live with the fact that in order to shut it we would have to continue to hold down the button in the garage. Then resently our other door wouldn't stay shut, you could close it but when it got to the bottom it would bounce back up. With 2 teenagers coming and going constantly it was becoming a pain. I emailed Economy Door Service and immediately got a response from Mark. He told me that a service call would be $49 and we could set that up anytime. He then emailed me right back and said if I would call him he might be able to walk me through the process of fixing it. I knew right away that I liked him so I decided to go ahead and set up a service call to see if he could possible fix them both. I gave him the days of the week that someone would be home and he took the first one. Mark came over on Wednesday around 4:30 and by 5:30 both my doors were working and was charged only for a service call. He made sure everything was working including our garage door openers before he left. What a Great Company!!
Description of Work: Both our garage doors were not working correctly. One of them we had to hold down the buttom until it closed and we could not use the garage door remote to close it, the other had a long wire hanging down and that garage door wouldn't stay shut.

Garage door wouldn't open, so I went to Angie's List, declined a previous garage door repair service, and went with Economy Door Service based on customer reviews. I forget the guy's name, but he was out that afternoon. True to his reviews, he worked very quickly, pulled out a gear and shaft that were old (8 years) and worn. Replaced them, lubed every moving part on both doors, tightened chains, and charged me half of what another company had bid. My door opens better now than it has in years. This guy is the guy to call. As he will tell you, he's a second generation garage door repairman. It's in his blood.
Description of Work: One day, returning to house, garage door wouldn't open. The service man came that day, pulled out the main gear and shaft, showed me where the bearings had failed, replaced it with new gear/shaft, lubed everything (on both doors, not just repaired door) and was finished in 35 minutes.

Fantastic experience with Mark/Economy Door. I left Mark a message. He called back promptly, asked for my garage door opener model name and the problems I was experiencing. We set up a time--late in the evening--that worked for me. He came out and lubricated door rollers, checked wiring, adjusted some setting(s) on the garage door box itself. He said he couldn't figure out the problem -- we were unable to recreate the door issue -- but he said I could call him any time if the door started acting up again (He provides a 60-day warranty on his work). He charged a $49 call fee, which was much less than I thought the charge might be, and left. Before Mark came, I'd done the obvious of checking the sensors at the bottom of the garage door track to make sure they were free and clear and working properly. I also did some online research for my opener model. I actually don't know if Mark fixed anything. I learned online that in rare cases, the Sun can shine directly into one of the sensor beams, making the garage door think something's in the way. Oddly enough, this is exactly what went wrong (at least during the day) with my door. I came home during lunch--a day or so after Mark left--and the door wouldn't close. This time, I got out of my vehicle and positioned myself so that my body blocked the sun to put a shadow over the sensor. The door went completely DOWN! I opened the door, tried to close it again, this time moving out the Sun's way, and sure enough, my garage door went back up as if something was blocking. So this time of year (January) during certain times of the day, the Sun prevents my garage door from working. Mark has a fantastic attitude and will "tell you like it is" regarding your garage door. Thank you Mark and thank you Angie's List.
Description of Work: Owner/operator Mark repaired my garage door, which would begin to go down (a little, half way, and almost the whole way) and then come back up.

Installation was efficient and also adjusted the spring tension on the garage door since door would not remain open without being hooked onto the opener. Also lubricated the springes and moveable parts of the garage door. Left work area clean.

Overall, I was very pleased. Mark seems to be genuinely nice and very competent. He's also very reasonably priced.
Description of Work: One of my garage door springs broke on a Saturday and I called a couple of garage door companies. Mark was the only one that called back and he did so in about 90 minutes. He came out that day and had to clamp the spring since I had given him the wrong kind of garage door and he brought the wrong part. He was very nice and scheduled to come back on the following Wednesday at my request. He didn't charge me for an additional visit. Overall, I was very pleased. Mark seems to be genuinely nice and very competent. He's also very reasonably priced. I would recommend him to anyone.

Mark is a very personable and friendly individual. The only thing that somewhat disappointed me was that he failed to return my first phone call within 24 hours, but after a second call (the next day) he responded within about 6 hours and was at the house 3 hours later as agreed upon. I'd definitely call him again for garage door service - a really fair price for the work performed.
Description of Work: Garage door would not close on an intermittent basis, and the lights associated with the garage door hardly ever came on. Mark took care of both issues within half an hour and provided a 60 day warranty. He even suggested a different fix if we continue to have intermittent problems with the door closing.

In less than an hour Mark had repaired the non-working garage door opener and then he changed the codes on the adjacent garage door opener that I have not been using. He also adjusted the way the door was hitting when it came down. I can't believe all of this was only $49!
Description of Work: I called Mark the morning of 12/12/12. I have a very old garage door opener and I doubted that it could be repaired. Mark found a date of 1978 on the opener but was able to repair it and hopefully it will last a little while longer. If it has more problems within 3 months Mark will apply the service call from today towards the next visit. So glad that I called Economy Door from the list of service providers on Angie's List! I will definitely call Economy Door if/when I have any more problems with my garage door opener or garage doors!

I hit my garage door pulling out of my garage and bent the track and cracked the wood on the side of the garage. I called Mark and left a voicemail and he called me back that evening and followed up the next day. He came out when he said he would, replaced the track, realigned everything and fixed the wood on the outside that I cracked. He also looked at the other garage door that was giving me problems and found the gear inside shredded to dust. He replaced that, realigned the tracks on that door and then showed me how and where to WD-40 the rollers and pulleys to keep it working well long term. He was very nice, professional and very reasonably priced. I will definitely use him again for any garage door issues!

I selected Economy Door Service after finding the company on Angie's List as a highly-rated, close to me (2 miles) contractor. I appreciate being able to support quality nearby service professionals. I called "Mark" on two separate occasions--once to obtain a quote and another time to set up an appointment. I left messages on Mark's voicemail and he returned calls within two hours and four hours respectively. On the first call, I described the problem and informed him of my opener's make and model (Liftmaster Professional 1/3 h.p.). The "sprocket"--the metal gear around which the chain that opens the door wends--had broken off, leaving the chain limp and unable to open the door. Mark quoted $67 for the sprocket/gear assembly and $49 for the visit (excluding tax). On the second call, I arranged a general appointment time for the following day (AM before Noon if possible). Mark called before Noon on the day of service to say that he would be there around 2 PM, which is when he arrived. He replaced the sprocket assembly and performed some other basic maintenance on the door opening mechanism--I'm not sure exactly what he did on the maintenance. However, the garage door opens and closes more quietly now that Mark has worked on it, and the door appears to open and close with less effort from the motor. Mark charged me exactly what he quoted one week earlier. I have no complaints...only kudos for Mark and his work. Ideally, I would have liked a response within an hour or two on my second call, as well as his being able to get to my house before 12 Noon on the day of service, but these are minor issues to me, and are reasonable IMO. I would enthusiastically recommend Economy Door Service for garage door repair and maintenance.

I called Mark late in the afternoon today. He called back an hour or two later and said he could come by shortly. I was surprised because it was already like 5:30 or so but he did come and worked hard and the price was very reasonable. He was professional and fun, had a great attitude and I would def. recommend him to anyone and use him again too. Yea!
Description of Work: Mark fixed the garage door so that it actually went up and down properly. It would go up a foot and stop then if I reversed it, it would go back up and stop in another place and it was very noisy. It was taking me an extra 10 mins. to get in and out of my garage because it wouldn't just go up and down without stopping a lot. He replaced the pulley wheel thingies and some other things with bearings that were shot on the doors and oiled and tightened everything. He made the doors quieter in addition to fixing the stop/start problem.

My second garage door did not have safety cables. I had put off having them installed and got three estimates. Mark was fast, efficient, and courteous. He was MUCH less expensive than the two other estimates I got ($150.00 and 96.00). In fact, one company said it wasn't worth their time or my money for them to come out and do the job. I will recommend Mark to others.

Too much cost for little time. He found a faulty wire and fixed it in 5 minutes (my husband ALMOST had it fixed...darn). So, we paid a minimum service cost + repair, nearly $100. for about 15 minutes (he "oiled" the door - which equaled to spraying with WD40 - and it dripped all over the floor). A frustrating experience overall since my spouse, had he checked the wiring he did, could have fixed it and saved us a $100 fee. I would go with someone who rolls their service fee into the cost for showing up. I think the Garage Door Guys do this.

I scoured Angie's List for a garage door repair company. I called and talked to Mark Whittemore at around 5:30 pm when I came home from work, he got straight to the point and asked me a couple of diagnostic questions. He then asked when I was wanting to have the work done, I told him "now"! He simply responded with an ok and asked for my address. He showed up when he said he would and started working immediately. This guy waists no time, he knew exactly what the problem was and went right to it. He also help me to program a code into the keypad for no extra charge. It probably took him about 20 minutes. He only charged $49.00, I was so greatful he came right away and fixed it I gave him a much deserving tip. If you want somebody who really knows garage doors and systems and doesn't mess around and will not try to beat you over the head with prices, the name says it all, so call him first!

A very satisfactory experience. Our garage door opener, probably at least 10 years old, quit working. We manually opened/closed the door for two months and then finally got tired enough of climbing in and out of the car each time we needed to go anywhere! He was very professional, very thorough, very experienced (26 years, personally does the work himself, took the business over from his father), and very customer friendly. He returned my message I left on voice mail very promptly, even called a second time to confirm again he got my message. The name says it all: "Economy Door Service" because he was the cheapest (by about $40) of the six or seven companies I called to get quotes. Some of the other companies would have also charged extra if I didn't purchase the opener through them. Mr. Whittmoore offered to stop by any store to pick up one I had pre-purchased. Labor is guaranteed for 90 days. I will definitely use him again for any future repairs needed.
Description of Work: Economy Door Service (Mark Whittemoore) took down our old opener and replaced it with a new one that I had already purchased. He lubricated parts of the door to make it open easier, adjusted the springs and pointed out where he lubricated and how often I should continue to do it. We had unplugged our opener on the other door because it was making a loud humming noise and was sending an electrical current through the rails shocking me when I brushed up against it one time. He looked at that opener, fixed both the humming noise and the electrical problem for no additional charge and explained how to program the keypad outside to remotely open that door.
