Response from ARCTIC AIR HEATING & COOLING CO
In review of (member name removed) complaint to you, our company is set up on a flat rate pricing guide, which means that the customer knows in advance of the cost for repair. The service technician advises the customer regarding the cost, afterward the customer must authorize the work to be done by signing the authorization part of the service invoice allowing the service technician to proceed with the repair to the system. The flat rate system is devised of a one price depending on the nature of the repair. Labor, materials and parts are figured in the one price. The customer knows in advance what he/she will pay for the repair. The Flat rate program is an industry program that many HVAC companies currently use to avoid price controversy and variables in repair pricing. This actually protects the customer depending on the speed of the various service technicians, avoiding hourly rates. Some technicians are slower than others. So for the same repair, we charge the same price for every customer. This process also eleviates variables in pricing. (member name removed) signed the authorization to proceed with the repair utilizing our flat rate pricing. If(member name removed) didn't wish to proceed with the repair, he could have used a company that does not utilize flat rate pricing. After authorizing the repair, (member name removed) complained to Angie's List regarding the flat rate pricing. This is precisely why the proceedure is explained in advance in it's entirety and why the customer must sign the authorization prior to the repair. When the repair is completed, the customer signs the acceptance of work performed area of the invoice, which says that the customer is satisified with the work performed. I hope this clarifys this matter. Respecfully, Arctic Air Heating and Cooling Company
