About us
Hello, my name is Al Birkenmeier, I am president of Birkenmeier and Sons, Inc.. So grateful for Angie's List and the Super Service Award 11 years in a row. I started my custom building and remodeling company in 1980 after 9 years in the commercial construction industry working with companies like McCarthy Bros., Hercules and Tarlton. I have pursued my love of providing the highest quality of construction while working hard at keeping my overhead down to keep it as affordable as possible. The proof is always in what my past has to offer so please don't hesitate to contact my past clients through a client reference list I would be happy to share with you as 99.9% are not Angie's List Members. Our quality of work and service is second to none so please let us offer you a no cost estimate and opinion for your next custom home or remodeling project. Thank you much, Al Birkenmeier
We were very happy with the results of our basement remodel. Al was very helpful and his crew did a great job in a timely fashion.

I really appreciate taking the time to post a review. We enjoyed helping this client recover and expand their finished lower level after they encountered some water damage. Take care, Al
We had a goal of getting the project done in 30 days and 99% of the project was done in 25 days. Al was terrific to work with and was always on top keeping the project moving with his subs and at the same time communicating with my wife and I. The entire project looks beautiful! Our landlord, the old tenant and all our customers love it and it looks great. Al was responsive up to the very end and we really appreciate his dedication and commitment to helping our business.
Description of Work: Birkenmeier & Sons Inc. was the contractor for our project and remodeled a commercial space for us, Nana's Farmhouse, tearing out a wall dividing two stores and taking existing interior walls down. They also oversaw the electrical, flooring, painting & handling the permits needed with the county and fire department.

It was a pleasure working with these clients. They needed some help and we were fortunate enough to get the job. It was fairly simple transition however the permit issues got complicated along the way. Fortunately I had the right experience to know which strings to pull to get us through that. It went well and we had fun working for these hardworking business owners to help them expand and grow their business... Good luck and take care, Al
The project ran very smoothly. Al is extremely professional and kept the communication lines flowing at all times. He is respected by all of the subcontractors, thus they provide promt and courteous service. The quality of craftsmanship is SUPERB. As an interior design professional, I would most DEFINITELY hire him again and recommend him without hesitation to clients.

What a difference was made on this one. It is fun to take a old asset and turn it into a beautiful transition. Owner being a very talented interior designer made it easy for us to turn out a fabulous end result. All we had to do is carry out her design and selections. We made a good team having two professionals working together for the same goal... It is a lot of fun seeing the end result come to fruition... Take care and thank you so much for the opportunity... Al and his team did a great job. One of the most important components of the job was ensuring the job would be done right. Al always does a great job of bringing in his team and assessing the all work on the project. This helps avoid any surprises after the job is started. Al's team came in and completed the project on time. They took extra not to damage the surrounding planting beds and patio as they pull off the old roof. The roof looks great and the clean up was spotless! We also had Al do a major remodel to our home two years ago. We would recommend him and his team to anyone planning a home project - if you want top quality and professional work....

It was a pleasure to work for these wonderful clients on their beautiful home in the Glendale area. We were honored to be called back after several other projects we have done in the past. We know these clients want it done right the first time and we have a top notch team that feels the same. This time we had to correct some faulty roofing that was done incorrectly from the beginning. Had to strip off the old shingles, replace quite a bit of damaged [Member Information Removed] underneath then add some ice and water shield with new roof shingles on top. But most importantly we step flashed and counter-flashed properly into the existing stucco which was never done correctly from the beginning. Nonetheless these clients never have to worry about this part of their home having leak problems. I appreciate the opportunity to assist such trusting clients. I know we are not the cheapest contractor out there but we are one of the best.... Take care, Al

Fantastic. The crew was polite and great with the clean-up. Roofing can get messy. Birkenmeier & Sons worked with the insurance company to make sure that everything was taken care of properly and fairly. I would definitely recommend them again. I will be using them in the future for interior cabinetry work as well.

Well, being called back to help again with repairs is what we shoot for and really appreciate another opportunity... We are a small company so can't always be there for everyone but when a past client calls us back I will do everything I can to help them get things done right the first time. When we were helping this client get some repairs done to their beautiful home we brought to their attention there was some serious hail damage on their roof, not many clients get on their roofs to observe these conditions. The client call their insurance company and got some bids on replacing the roof. We show this client how we could replace their roof plus saving on some other misc. items that really did not make sense to spend that money and could use that for their deductible. It worked out we got all of the roof items replaced that really needed it and save them some money in the process, called a win/win... Again it was a pleasure working for some wonderful clients on their beautiful home and it all started with Angie's List another win/win... Take care, Al

Outstanding! Details and options were discussed along the way for saving the budget while maintaining the structural integrity of the job. The job itself required extensive equipment as well as the nerves of steel as my house is located very near a drop off and the atrium is three stories high. When the job was done, the site was as clean as it was before they started and my house was solid and weatherproof. I am an interior designer and I would definitely recommend them to clients.
Description of Work: An intricate and difficult job of repairing the structure of an atrium ranch. While replacing the windows, the crew (separate company) stopped working as they found extensive rot and they said the walls would not support the new windows. Several consultations with various companies and I settled on Birkenmeier & Sons because Al knew what he was talking about and was concerned for doing right for my budget and my home.

Wow, this was not a simple job but a challenge that I embraced. Being in the construction business for over 46 years, 9 years commercial and 37 additional years in my own business building custom homes, multiple renovation projects and some light commercial jobs has taught me very well how to solve a multitude of issues. It was our distinct honor to work on this fabulous home. The client, a very talented interior designer/decorator had turned this normal house on a hill into a spectacular show place that belongs in Home and Gardens. It was not easy to repair the rotten wood on the back of this atrium ranch on a cliff but I was use to building 10-15 story hospitals and office buildings so I knew we could get it done. We bought some special scaffolding to perform the task and was able to replace the rotten framing in between the very large pieces of glass. We even helped Andersen Windows to get the higher glass pieces installed by letting them use our scaffolding... In any event it went extremely well and so happy we could help... Take care, Al

It was an awesome experience for both of us. This client was well educated and experienced in what he wanted and had a very high level of expectations for the quality he wanted in the details of the finished product. Long story short it was a very good fit for both of us. We only hire and use the best trades in the business, so it may cost a little more but the constant end result is that it turned out better then expected and that's just the way I like to do things. There is a lot of choices out there and many ways to execute our duties so I made the choice to take the high road of our business many years ago and never regretted that choice, even though my bids may be higher then most of my competition and I happened to think for a very good reason. This client had been through the construction process many times before and was a pleasure to work for. He and his family lived in the house during the process and we got along great. Really appreciated working with this client. And thanks to Angie's List for another successful match up... Take care, Al
Can't say enough good things about Al and his team. He was methodical, detail-oriented, and even managed to keep the dust to a minimum! He went above and beyond by adding trim to the sunroom to match the rest of the house. I hadn't even thought of doing that. He did a lot of the work himself and had a great electrician and a great tile guy come in too. We are so pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Al completely demo'ed and renovated our sunroom. He also installed a drywall pantry and an island in the kitchen.

Was a pleasure to work with these two young professionals that had a very nice home in [Removed Member Location] that needed a couple of touches to polish it off. Over 30 years ago I had a client that said when we were done "your job turned out better then we ever expected", so I made that my mission ever since. We installed an island, a pantry and enlarged the opening between the Kitchen and Sunroom. We also updated the 1950's Sunroom by removing the paneling to install drywall, installed a tile floor, installed a large picture window, updated some old electric and had some custom made trim to match the 70 year old home's character to bring it all together. This busy couple was always on the go but we communicated well and got the job done. Thanks Angie's List for putting good people together... Take care, Al

Again, a past client that was in need of a small but specialty job we were happy to help with. We do out best to help past clients with whatever the job may be so we squeeze it in between things the best we can and really appreciate the past work... Take care, Al
The job went well! It took 4 1/2 months, and was essentially right on budget. Al only charges for the work he has completed. All of his subcontractors are top notch. He does much of the work himself, and is very a very gifted finish carpenter. He is very accessible and responsive via phone, email, and text. His jobsite foreman, Papa Gary, is there every morning at 0700. Our dog was his best buddy!
Description of Work: We remodeled our kitchen and powder room in our 100 year old home in University City. This was more than a facelift, and involved removing a wall, redoing subfloor and moving plumbing and electrical. Our architect, cabinet company, and other contractors integrated seamlessly with Al and his crew. We interviewed several contractors over the period of 6 months. Al has an impressive portfolio of high end jobs, and has done amazing things for some our friends. This is not the place to cut corners, and we were thankful for Al and his expertise throughout the job.

This is one for the Home and Gardens Magazine. We had the distinct pleasure to install the owner provided custom cabinets and appliances all top of the line stuff. The owner got our name from a neighbor/friend who's kitchen we remodeled a couple of years ago. They told me they chose me an upscale contractor to handle their project cause they wanted the very best. I made sure they were extremely glad for that decision. They switched locations of the existing kitchen and breakfast rooms with a lot of demo of concrete floors, plaster walls and a bearing wall that harbored a small room between the two. As I was demoing the owner kept saying they wanted to open the two rooms up as much as possible. I conversed with the architect and got the specs on a upgraded beam that I installed for no extra charge so I could completely eliminate the bearing wall and the small room attached to it. In the process we completely opened up both large rooms to each other and the results were nothing short of spectacular. There was an enormous amount of labor and materials to make this one happen but so very worth it. This job turned out to be the jewel on a beautiful home and for such a wonderful family. We definitely enjoyed working with this family and helping them develop a dream they had for their beautiful home... Thank you so very much for the opportunity...Take care, Al

As always, Al takes the time to make sure everything is the way I want it and offers his opinions on the best way to complete the project. I am a bit of a perfectionist. Al and Gary are great to work with as it is their objective to make sure I am happy with their work. It was nice to see them again as we spent a lot of time together during our initial remodel project. The pups were happy, too, as they always get a little treat after lunch!
Description of Work: This is the 3rd time we contracted work with Al. Previous work included major remodel of our 1930 "Glendale Charmer." I had Al back to hang some retro cabinets in our new laundry room. This included installing some open shelving next to the cabinets to give it a more finished look. I also had them complete a few smaller projects while they were here.

Al Birkenmeier and Papa Gary have done work for us before. I have experienced them as the consummate professionals. They are friendly and always do more than expected and asked of them. The work is always done to beyond my satisfaction.
Description of Work: We own a 2-story, family occupied duplex. The back stairwell had not been updated in over 40 years. The lighting was non-exsistent, wallpaper was crumbling, no handrails, the stairs needed work and everything needed painting. The electric was in bad shape. It was knob-and-tube wiring so it was all replaced. They had to go inside the plaster walls which was a big job. They also installed an outdoor light over the side door. They then re-plastered the walls. They secured the stairs, replaced quite a bit of the wood and the door threshold and added rubber treads for safety. (They look very nice, kinda of a retro feel:) They installed sturdy handrails. All walls, woodwork and stairs were painted. Keep in mind the wallpaper all had to be removed.

We have used Al for several jobs in the past. He and his team have always been professional, polite and easy to work with - even to the extent of them stopping their work to build wheelchair ramps for my son when he is fractured his femur! On this occasion we had an area of roof where the shingles were holding water which then leaked through to the family room. Al and his roofer identified the issue and came up with a plan to fix (we have an old house with a lot of different roof planes and angles). Unfortunately the shingles are no longer manufactured but Al tracked them down and worked with us to arrange a repair date that worked with our busy summer. Al is always the first guy we go to when we need a contractor we can depend on to do an excellent job.

Thank you [Member Name Removed] so much for taking the time to leave a review and we are so appreciative and will do our very best, especially, to help a previous client. I believe and will always use my 45 years of experience to do the very best to help my clients find the best solution to their need. In this case we were not sure the best remedy until we tore off the existing roof and then found that we had to use our plan B to resolve the issue. We took the precaution and special ordered some roof shingles to match an older make and style of roof shingle and was able to take the correct path to solve the issue that was somewhat extraordinary. Nonetheless we corrected the issue and our client can feel confident this problem has been solved. Again, thank you so very much for your support and if you ever have the need we are only a phone call away and that goes for any warranty issues if they ever would arise.. Take care, Al

It didn't happen and never will with them.
Description of Work: Called the number listed and Al answered right away. I started to tell him that we were looking for estimates on completely re-modeling/gutting our main bathroom and he immediately asked where we lived and how big the bathroom was. The call seemed to go downhill from there, as he seemed very distracted and not too interested in our project (maybe it was too small or the area we lived in is not "nice" enough?). He said they only do estimates at 3:00pm during the week and he would need to have all of his guys come with him. This didn't seem very convenient or flexible for customers, but I understood and asked what date(s) might work best so I could plan my work schedule accordingly. He said he had no idea and would have to email his guys first and then call me back in the next day or two. It's been over a week and we haven't heard a thing and I'm not expecting one after that call. After reading more reviews, he doesn't seem to mess with projects that aren't "extra large" so if you're looking to only re-do one area of your house, don't bother calling this company.

I am so very sorry, I just can not keep up with the calls and demand that has come my way, that is why I try my very best to feel out the jobs to see if I could possibly get my subs together or a contractor friend to bid the jobs as sometimes I get 5-10 calls for bids per week. I am a very small company, I love my job but can only handle so much. I work 70-80 hours a week and sometimes things fall through the cracks of me being the secretary, estimator, organizer, carpenter, labor, gopher, clean up guy and whatever it takes. The only complaints I ever get is when I can not bid a job which is always for free or if I forget to get back to someone when I get 50 calls per week along with working on the job with subs though out the day. Sometimes all I can say is I'm sorry but please look at the reviews from my clients who allow me to be human and give me a chance. I think you will get a true reading of what I have been able to accomplish. I have been in business 36 years and figured out the best way for me to give a client a true estimate is to meet with 4-8 of my subs to get a real accurate bid which only helps both of us, takes a lot more time but if you do your homework you have a much better chance of getting a good score and a happy client. I do have a file from this year alone of 50-60 bids where I spent 3-30 hours each for free and have never got even a thank you and I don't try to get revenge. I know people are busy and trying their best ... Again I am truly sorry and apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. Take care, Al

It went great I used Birkenmeier and Sons Inc. in the past to build my custom home. I had my architect draw up the plans I wanted and presented them to Al Birkenmeier for a bid and went with him to build my Custom Home. The building process went so smooth and everything turned out just the way I wanted it, I lived there for 13 years before I sold and never had one problem in the house Not even so much as a nail pop! The craftsmanship was superb! I kind of look back now and wish I would've kept the house. I highly recommend this company to anyone you will not be disappointed !!

He needed some help fairly quick and was able to fit in between some bigger jobs and happy we could help... Thank you for the opportunity and your past business.... Take care, Al
Al Birkenmeier had previously done work for me so I was confident everything would go smoothly. I was not disappointed. Al is a perfectionist and the finished product shows it. He keeps the homeowner updated on progress and schedules. He has very high standards and goes beyond the call of duty to make sure everything is done professionally whether by him or his subs.
Description of Work: The work undertaken by Birkenmeier and Sons included extensive renovation of two bathrooms and the addition of a screened in porch, a front porch and new concrete walkway. The two bathrooms were completely gutted. All water and drain lines were replaced and brought up to code; floors were leveled and insulation replaced before drywalling and installing durock on walls and floors, and finally new tile was installed along with new fixtures.

I was delighted to come back and finish up some details that the cabinet company was supposed to do but they had me do instead. More times then not since most cabinet companies do not do custom made cabinets we have to modify them to work with site conditions and that can get pretty tricky sometimes. In this case the components the cabinet company sold this client simply had to be custom cut and fitted to complete the job. We were glad that we had this opportunity to work again for such wonderful clients... Thanks again.... Al

Al and his partner Gary have performed several general remodeling jobs in my home in the past few months. Al reassembled shutters meant for our old door and installed them onto a new door. Because the door knob and glass were in different positions than the previous door, Al had to carve out a half circle cut-out so that the door knob would move freely. There were other issues because the shutters were not meant to fit the new door, but Al made it work perfectly and it looks brand new. He also installed beautiful crown molding in one of our rooms which was an impeccable job. Al also repaired wood rot beneath a door, and had to fix a number of issues with the door as he went along, such as slants and hinge issues. Because of his incredible ability, he saved us from buying a new door which would have cost us thousands of dollars. Al and his partner Gary were always on time and very friendly. Would definitely recommend. Al is by far my best find on Angie's List, and I use the list frequently. He is an amazing talent that is rare in the St. Louis area. If you have any upcoming remodeling jobs, look no further than Al Birkenmeier. You will be amazed at his ability.

Al Birkenmeier and his co-worker Gary are amazing. After the crown molding and door/frame installation, they looked at a patio door that we had difficulty opening and closing. It was an unexpected project for Al, but he quickly assessed the wood rot and went above and beyond to fix the rot so that we would not have to replace the entire double door. We are very grateful to have had someone so talented and honest. I am sure most people would have simply recommended a new door. He and Gary spent an extra day and a half working on the problem and now it opens and closes beautifully like new. Al has been my best find from Angie's List, that's for sure.

I had the good fortune of having Al Birkenmeier in my home this week. He and his associate, Gary, were the most talented people I have employed from Angie's List. Our project was complicated and serious. We had advanced wood rot starting from the 1st floor patio door which itself had sunken towards the lower level. In our storage area in the lower level, you could see daylight from above where the wood was rotten and riddled with holes. We knew we had to replace the door and two adjacent windows, but could not find anyone talented enough to resolve the main issue of rotted wood near our foundation, until we met Al. He seemed confident that the job could be completed successfully. That was very comforting, especially after another company assessed the job and said the problem might be catastrophic. After that remark I went back to Angie's List and did a thorough search and that is when I contacted Al. He was not intimidated by the job. While it was a daunting job, he assured us that this is work he had done successfully in the past. Reading the reviews once again, we accepted his estimate and our worries were eliminated after watching he and Gary tackle the project. We have moved seven times so we are very familiar with homeowner projects. Al Birkenmeier and Gary are by far the best we have ever hired over many years. My suggestion is don't hesitate to hire Al for your home-improvement projects. By the way, they were always on time, professional, and pleasant to be around.
Description of Work: They removed a large entry way to our backyard consisting of a padio door and three large windows that was victim to rot and had sunk below the floor. Installed a temporary wooden door until the new unit is installed. Fixed/replaced rotted wood starting from the first floor and extending to the lower level.

Well, it was a pleasure to work for this client as well and is always nice to hear we were appreciated. Water and termites can structurally take its' toll on a home as it did here. After building many custom homes in the past and 9 years commercial [Member Information Removed] there is nothing that we can not do. [Member Information Removed] a matter of time and [Member Information Removed]. We were able in this case to dissect the rotten wood, jack up the second floor and replace the rotten wood with treated lumber that is resistant to rot and termites as this area can be susceptible to those elements. I feel our experience helps us to do these repairs with minimal demolition of the home and make all necessary repairs while providing protection down the road... Thank you Mam for taking the time to post this review... Take care, Al

From start to near finish, working with Al and his team of professionals has been a great experience. His project assessment and bid was comprehensive. While we have made some adjustments to the plan during the remodel, they were based on changes we made on finish preferences. We have an 80 year old home, so the demo and remodel have required extra care and attention to detail to maintain the original look and feel of the home, but updating all our electrical and plumbing. Al, Pappa Gary and all his subs have been professional and do oustanding work. I really appreciate the level of quality Al expects in all his work and the work of his subs. We have has several other remodel projects done in other homes, and I would say this has been the best experience of all. We are very pleased with outcome in all the rooms and actually looks better than we imagined at the start as we planned out the work. It can be a challenge to live in the construction zone while the work is being done, but Al works to keep work areas safe, clean and manageable. I don't typically write reviews or make frequently make recommendations, but this is an easy one. I would recommend Al and his team to others and would have him back to do work for us again.

Well we had fun working with this client and she was very sharp on what she wanted done. She had renovated a couple other homes and was very familiar with how she wanted things, which made it easier for us to make it happen. We can do almost anything with top shelf quality so when we come across a client that knows what they want it's a slam dunk for us. Along with remodeling her kitchen and two bathrooms we ran into some water damaged wood areas and poor plumbing that we upgraded and took care of along the way. She wanted things done right and to her specifications and we enjoyed making it happen. Thank you Angie's List for another great experience... Take care, Al

It went extremely well. Al always does a few extras that i don't ask for just to make it even nicer and he never charges me. He takes great pride in his work.
Description of Work: Complete re-do of 2 enclosed sun rooms, 1st and 2nd floor of a 2-family flat. Al Birkenmeier and his right hand man, Papa Gary, re-did the ceilings and wall. They insulated every thing and framed out the 8 windows and installed base boards. They caulked everything as well. They also shored up the back stairwell, installed a new handrail and fixed three other handrails. They installed in the back stairwell 2 wall devices that holds brooms, etc. and they framed it out so it looks very nice and put very nice plastic behind it so that mops don't damage the wall. It's like a flat closet:). I am very happy how they turned out.

Thank you so much [Member Name Removed] for taking the time to leave a review and thank you so much for our third or forth time to be of service. We have had the pleasure to be of service to our community now for over 35 years and when our past clients call us back time after time I make sure we take very good care of them. We take this opportunity very seriously and we realize these clients pay and expect top shelf treatment. There is a wide spectrum of quality out there in our trade and we take pride in being at the top of that spectrum. More times then not you get what you pay for and we make sure you get your money's worth. This client has been so delightful and appreciative of what we have done for them and we really enjoy what we do and making them happy that they chose us for this service. Take care, Al
Al Birkenmeier, his employees, and his subs are all professionals of the highest order who seek to make sure that everything they lay their hands on is done right. On top of that, they treated myself, my husband, my two children and two dogs as if we were family. Together, I'm pretty sure Al and Papa Gary could build a skyscraper, but I was fortunate enough to have them building my kitchen. This was about as extensive of a kitchen remodel as it is possible to do. We were looking at a full, to-the-studs kitchen redesign that would affect 3 rooms of our house: the kitchen, dining room, and a bedroom and we would be living in the house through the remodel. Even during the initial bidding phase, Al stood out by giving us one of the most complete bids. We were pleasantly surprised when he showed up to our initial quote meeting with his sub-contractors so they could look at the job and give him a precise quote on their part of the work. Consequently, the quote provided by Al was one of the most complete and included almost exactly the scope of work we were expecting. Additionally, during his walk-through, Al even seemed pretty sure, based upon his the structure of our house that the walls we were planning to take down were load-bearing, in spite of what the drawings our architect came up with said, Al ended up being right. Al's main man, Papa Gary, is incredibly nice, and brings the same attention to detail to his work that Al does to his. He showed up every morning and got straight to work. We're not early risers, so we would often stumble through his work zone on the way to our makeshift basement kitchen, and he'd serenade our 3 year old with a goofy little morning song. Our kids adored ?the builders?. Also, of course, now anything that ever breaks in our house, our three year old just says ?don't worry, the builder's will fix it.? The kitchen remodel went incredibly smoothly, which is, I'm sure, due in no small part to Al's orchestration of everything going on. If I had a question for any of his subs during the remodel, he would have them on the phone right away to clear things up. Al was more than happy to meet with us every morning or leave us a quick text/email/voicemail to keep us posted on progress. There was never a time when we didn't know who was going to be at our house, when, and what they would be doing. Additionally, they did an exemplary job of keeping the work site safe, contained, and clean, which set us at ease since we had a toddler and a baby running around who like nothing more than finding the most dangerous things around to play with, but I was constantly amazed at how organized things stayed amid the chaos of demolition and carpentry. As with any job this size, additions and changes did come up. Do to Al's thoroughness up front, we were lucky enough not to have anything really major come up, but we did decide to change a few things during the course of the work and they were handled as line-items on our next payment. To Al, our problems were his problems. If we weren't happy with how something looked, he fixed it, or he got a sub to come out and fix it right away, no matter how small or trivial. For instance, one of the tiles laid on the back splash was set a little deeper than the rest, it caught the light weird, it was maybe a little nit-picky, but we could see it being the kind of thing that bothered us after a while. Al didn't even question it, he had the tile guy back out to chisel that tile out and put in another one. I should also say, the tile guy (Larry) was happy and prompt to fix anything and hopefully we can hire him for jobs in the future. The final thing I'd like to mention is the concept that Al makes sure everything he touches is a little bit better than it was before. I lost track of every little additional thing he did that weren't strictly in the project scope, but here are a few: he fixed some exterior brick tuckpointing that was cracking, he rerouted a pipe that had previously been (annoyingly) running through a closet and he replaced some ugly damaged window trim with nice new stuff, he added new baseboard trim in a hallway where we had removed a heater return grill and were left with an empty space. The basic feeling you get is that he treats the house as if he were working on his own. We can't thank you enough Al!
Description of Work: Complete Kitchen Remodel. Demoed old kitchen to the studs. Took down 3 load bearing walls to make kitchen space larger. Installed all new drywall, baseboard and window trim, a new window, floors, ceilings, cabinets, and appliances. Oversaw and worked with subcontractors to update/install electrical, including a new electrical panel, reroute plumbing to new sink location, and refinished hardwood throughout house.

Well, I could not ask for a better review then that and really appreciate all the kind words and taking the time to submit that review. This young couple was a joy to work for and loved making their dream come true. It still amazes me what a transition it can be when we have the opportunity to remove walls, open things up and renovate spaces, even after 35 years of doing so... We do take our job very seriously and make it our mission to make our clients happy. 30-32 years ago I remember and never will forget that one client said the job you did for us turned out better then what we expected and from then on I made that our mission from every client.. This couple were also understanding that these transitions don't happen by osmosis and took the process in stride. We ran into some obstacles along the way but we made all of them better then what was planned... Thank you so much for the opportunity and had fun doing it... Take care, Al

Al has done it again. Such a courteous, professional guy. Al and his top notch trim guy, Kevin, constructed my stair railing with solid wrought iron balusters and continuous handrail for the stairway/well that he also did earlier in the fall in my house renovation. The best quality materials were used and the craftsmanship was exceptional. The job was completed in less than two days so I could be in the house for Christmas. Again, I say without question that Al Birkenmeier is your go to contractor...I know there is no project he cannot do despite the many contacts he has in the field.

It was my pleasure to help this client for the second time. He took on a whole house renovation with some of the issues beyond his experience and ability. Was glad to fill in the voids and give him a hand. He was a pleasure to work for and appreciated the quality and service we offer all of our clients. Thanks so much for the review and the best of luck with your renovated home for the New Year... Take care, Al
