My husband went down the basement and discovered raw sewage in the basement. We had a clogged drain. He tried to open it up but no success. I went into Angies list and discovered that a lot of plumbers do not have 24 hour service. I clicked on A & J and discovered that they did but the main reason I called them was the statement made by a previous customer about what a good job they did. So I called and left a mess they called back 15 min later and told me that there was an extra charge for the call out on weekends (which I had no problem with but really appreciated him telling me) told me where the person was and when they would be at my home then Jeremy called and said he was on his way. He was polite, took care of the problem, answered all of my husbands questions and took care of the stopped up drain. He had to go through the roof. All is good it was tree roots. I would recommend them.

This is the second time I've use A and J to clean out clogged drains. It is the second time they were able to come and perform the service earlier than scheduled. The workman called ahead to see if it would be okay. I have saved hundreds of dollars compared to using other services, and am very happy. The first time, I needed help because water was backing up in a window drain. The second time was because of a sewage back up in the basement. A new sewer line costs hundreds of dollars. A and J is recommending a routine clean out, about once per year. They also recommend I switch to toilet paper from Aldi's. I am going to save literally thousands of dollars per year and just get the line cleaned. So I will definitely be using A and J's again.

Jeremy climbed on the roof and spent the time needed to clean it. Been living in this home for over 20 years and never realized that this is maintenance that should be done every year or so; especially with partial cast iron pipes. Gave me some advice and referred me to a Plumber who is also on Angies List; because after removing the crud from the cast iron pipes a small leak started and probably because of all the crud that prevented it from leaking in the first place. Now its clean and will be replacing the partial section of the cast iron pipe. This company is great!!!!!!

They could have done a whole bunch of things and said it needed this, it needed that. They just took a plunger and that was it. I asked how much do I owe, he said, nothing, I didn't do any thing. It was fantastic. He didn't charge anything. I couldn't believe it. If anything ever come up again, I would certainly call him.

Marty and his crew were so great in helping my wife and I get our sewer line cleaned up from a root mass that had grown in the piping. He came out on short notice and showed us the problem, talked us through the fix and did a great job fixing the problem. He was extremely professional and an absolutely fantastic person! We will use A & J for all our sewer issues in the future! Thanks guys for all your help!

Called early on Monday morning and the office schedule person was very polite in what was a busy Monday morning. She took all my information including email address and made an appointment for 4 pm today. Sean came early for his 4 pm appointment which was great! He checked the systems by flushing the lines with water from upstairs and the basement washing machine and had already made the assessment that the main line was the problem. He took care of the few roots by using the outside sewer line cleanout. Double-checked the lines by flushing with water again and everything was flowing out properly. He recommended to that the line be cleaned out on a "as needed" basis since we have an unfinished basement and sometime in the future, to scope out the inside line which is probably cast iron in the older section of the house. Overall, Sean took care of the problem very professionally and was done in less than 45 minutes or so. The price was reasonable and the Angie's List coupon was accepted. Definitely will recommend A & J Drain Service again.

I was able to get an appointment quickly for the same day. The technician called to say that he was ahead of schedule and could be at my home earlier than expected, if this was OK with me. This was great, because rain was forecasted for later in the day. He arrived and immediately set to work to clear my blocked drain. He was very professional. The job was completed very quickly. I was very pleased with this service. There was even a coupon on the Angie's List web site that I was able to use.

My wife was losing her mind since this shower drain was flowing very slow. Used the plunger and chemicals to no avail!! Read online regarding the dangers of chemicals to the plumbing and decided that the drain needs to be resolved via Professional help. Sean actually came 1/2 early and showed him the drain and got to work. 20 minutes later drain was cleared and he even replaced everything back which I took apart such as the overflow tube plate. He also cleaned up the bathtub. Gave me some education regarding how often the plumbing should be snaked especially since half of our plumbing is PVC/Cast Iron. He mentioned that Cast Iron is more susceptible to plumbing blockages. Great guy and will be calling them back to have our Drain waste Stack also snaked out. It has never been done since we have lived there.

Earlier today, we had almost two inches of rain in about a half hour. When I went down the basement, I found that the floor drain had backed up. I called them at 3:40 PM. They sent someone out. He arrived at 3:55 PM. He was done by 4:26 PM. Drains are open and hopefully I won't have another problem for a while.

Called for service and Jeremy responded within 20 minutes,he was very polite and knew his job. He cleared a clogged laundry drain quickly,and I couldn't ask for any better of a experience,would definitely recommend this company to any friend with a drain issue.

Our sewer lateral backed up into the basement late at night... I called A & J based on previous work they had done at 9:30 on a Thursday night... I live in St. Charles and the owner replied that he was all the way down in Arnold, and referred me to a St. Charles company who didn't answer the phone. The owner came out about an hour later and snaked out the sewer both ways (out to the street and into the house) and made sure it was done right.... I have the magnet on the fridge and will be calling A and J to snake our drain every 8 months or so!

Came out quickly to help with the drain issue, the same day we called. Found the problem, recommended a drain repair with another contractor, and had that scheduled and completed in the next day. We had a party coming up in just days and Marty saved us in an emergency we didn't think we'd be able to resolve. We highly recommend Marty Rowland at A&J Drain Service. Great guy and great service!

Call them, made an appointment for 1 PM. I requested Sean Gray as he's the guy I always use. I told them to call my 1/2 hour prior to them showing up as I do not live where the service was to be performed. Sean called my cell around noon and said he finished other jobs early and was heading over to the job site. I got there 1/2 later and he was waiting for me. He scoped and located the lines. We discussed one section of line that he could not scope. I expected this. When a garage was built thy put the wall over the clean-out/vent. The buyers of this house wanted it fixed as it was not to code. Sean did exactly what I wanted. Now the plumber needs to come in and I'll have Sean back to re-scope after the work is done to satisfy the buyer.

The floor drain in the basement backed up again after having it serviced by another company on 9/17/14. I called A&J Drain Service on Sunday evening for service the next day. Jeremy Isbell called ahead of the scheduled time and said he would be able to come early. Several key first impressions struck me: 1. he was early, 2. the service van is very nice and clean, 3. he put on shoe covers before coming into the house. He listened to my concerns and addressed them directly. He didn't try to sell me any additional services, which I really appreciate. As for recommending their service again, I had that opportunity the very next day when a friend called and I told her that she would not be disappointed with A&J Drain Service.

Jeremy did an excellent job of cleaning our lateral sewer line. He was professional, punctual, and took the necessary time to make sure the job was done right. I have tried several other drain cleaning services. My experiences with other drain services have been bad. I would get a quote over the phone for a price and it would be doubled when the job was complete. A & J stuck to their quote and did a great job. We received a $20 discount for being an Angie's list member which brought the price down from $155 to $135. I have this problem with my sewer every year and will definitely call them again. I also recommended them to family and friends.

My sewer backed up (the second time within 3 months). A&J Drain responded within a couple of hours to my service call. The young man who showed up was so great. He showed me pictures at every stage of the sewer diagnosis. Although the news was not good (had to have my entire sewer replaced), he told me what kind of toilet paper to use in the future and why certain brands were not good and why. After he completed the video, he called Plumbing Plus to come give me an estimate. A&J was professional, extremely responsive, and the guy who provided the service was a sweet heart. I am a first-time homeowner at 57 years old; I had a lot of questions and they were all answered. I feel very fortunate to have found such a great service provider.

He was quite good. Even after he got the sink draining, he continued to work and found a soup can top in the disposal.

Everything was perfect. Marty was very polite and professional. He explained what he was encountering as he worked and never tried to "up sell" us on services we didn't need. He was thorough and was sure he got all the way to the main line before considering job complete. Would highly recommend to anyone requiring drain cleaning services.

Came on a Saturday on short notice to clean out drain. Was very professional. Explained pricing and told us that if we could wait until Monday, we could save $100. He said there would be no charge if we didn't want the service (again, he came out on a Saturday and gave an estimate without any pressure to do the service and even tried to save us money). He worked for two hours, explaining what he was doing all along the way. Would definitely recommend him to others.

Called before arrival. Was early. Cleared the blockages of tree roots in the line at 50 ft and 70 ft from house. Checked it all the way to 110 ft. Was in and out in an hour. Was very friendly and did good job. Price was very competitive.

He came out a few hours after I called them. My downspout was totally blocked. He went up on the roof and cleaned out a very bad block. I would definitely use this company again!
