The technician was prompt, courteous and very aware of cleanliness! He put on his shoe covers when in the house and listened carefully to the details of the clog. Very knowledgeable of the drain system, he easily targeted the problem and was able clear the drain very quickly. I also used A&J Drain Service for a clog my parents' home experienced when I was staying at their home. The same level of service was experienced! I will highly recommend this company to all my family and friends!

+ -1 moreHorrible, they came out in July 8th and only did from the drain clean out in the front yard. I asked why they didn't go into the basement drain, which was backing up? Reply was, nope we can get it from here. Well they didn't get it from there. Called back not once but TWICE, and now finally did the drain cleaning from the basement drain, which they should have done in the first place. And sending me another bill for $75 on top of the $110 I already paid? SHEESH , NEVER AGAIN USING A&J !!!

+ -1 moreI can't say enough about Shaun and A & J Drain Services. My drain had backed up and required a camera scope. Shaun explained the whole process and what was going wrong with my sewer pipe. He was exceedingly helpful and friendly. After he left, I needed more information to give to the city and A & J came through for me in a very timely and thorough manner. I was able to get an appointment scheduled to have the yard dug up and line replaced. If you need this type of work done, hire this company! I had a fantastic experience!

+ 1 moreMarty promptly came same day of call and note this was the afternoon before the 4th of July holiday when few people are around. He determined issue was not a clogged water heater pan drain, but rather a pan that needed replaced. Unfortunately he did not do this type of work, so referred me to another company and did NOT charge me a service call. He even called the guy for me. EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with this and as a result, he will be my first call for my next plumbing issue! Nice guy!

+ 1 moreHad water in our basement due to a clogged line in the back of our house. We bought an older home with a large tree in the backyard, over time the roots had grown into the line and it created quite a mess when it all backed up. We hired another company, who was not able to get the line open. I checked Angie's list and decided to try A&J because of the favorable reviews, and I am so grateful that I called them. After I explained the problem over the phone, A&J had workers over within an hour or so. They put a camera into the line. In a short time they were able to clear the line using specialized cutters. They have the experience and equipment needed to clear the tree roots that had grown there. They also explained that if these are cut out in a yearly maintainance service call, it would eliminate this problem in the future. (We bought the house as a rehab,so I think that the roots had not been cut out for years .) I was very impressed and grateful that A& J were able to take care of the problem in such a fast and efficient way. They made a recording of the camera view and it was such a relief to see the water flowing through a clear unclogged line. I will certainly be using A&J in the future. Fast, efficient, helpful, kind, and reasonably priced.

+ 1 moreAmazing. Called eve before in distress with sewage backup in basement. Came out next morning. Worked 2 hours and saved us . We had a root growth 6 feet long, 6 inch around weighing about 40 lbs. that they were able to pull out of our sewer line. They ran a camera thru to check for any breakage in the line. We were lucky. Last put a root destroy product in to help keep situation under control. We'll see them once a year to maintain. I could sing their praises all day long. + -1 moreWe called A & J Drain Cleaning on Monday morning because our kitchen sink drain backed up Sunday night. They were able to make the appointment for Monday morning between 10 and 11 am. Justin called and arrived on time. I explained we believed the clog was below the garbage disposal, somewhere in the drain pipe in the basement. Justin went right to work, he had to break off the old cleanout fitting on the drain pipe to get access for the auger. He was able to then clear the clog with the motorized auger. He replaced the cleanout plug and cleaned up the work area. Justin was done in an hour, fantastic job! A & J is very dependable and affordable and we will be using them in the future and would highly recommend their services to anyone in need. Keep up the great work, thank you for responding so quickly.

+ 0 moreContacted through Angies list on line, provider responded the same. Very quick response, with estimate and choice of times on Monday. Jeremy called when he was on his way. He was very prompt, courteous and professional. He talked me throught the process and explained what to expect as well as what to watch for in the future. Because it was a blockage created by toilet paper, he even recommended what type would be better to use to prevent problem again. I wanted this provider to perform the repair due to great comments on Angie's List and checking the BBB. I was charged an additional $50 due to the distance from Arnold and my home being in O'Fallon, MO. With the coupon from Angie brought that down to $30. I was very happy with the result. I can now use my Master Bathroom and Laundry rooms again. Thanks again, Jeremy. A happy customer.
Description of Work: Master Bathroom 2 sinks and toilet overflowed today while I was doing a small load of laundry. All are on the same stack. No other drains were effected. The water is slowly going down. Assuming a blockage in line somewhere. No basement, house is on a slab. Access through wall in the laundry room/vent. Can you give me an estimate. Would like work done asap, but don't want to pay emergency rate, just won't use that bathroom till repair is done. Jeremy came and reviewed the problem. Used a big "snake"machine to breakup the blockage.

+ 1 moreThe drain was cleaned of roots - but Sean cautioned that the lateral sewer line would have to be replaced to prevent the broken line from being obstructed with roots again - something that I knew to be true as the line had been cabled clean twice a year for two years. Sean left me with a DVD of the camera inspection and a written description of what they found so I could get someone that did lateral line excavation to fix the problem for good.
Description of Work: Sewage had been backing up through the basement floor sewer and after several attempts to clear the blockage with sewer cables over a two year period, I chose to have A&J drain service come out with a camera to locate the blockage. Sean and his assistant arrived on-time and began the camera inspection of the drain as rain was pouring down - getting both of them soaked. However, they never complained. They were very professional, locating the problem which was a broken lateral sewer line between the house and the outside cleanout about 7 and 1/2 feet under the ground. The drain pipe was completely blocked with roots. They marked the location of the break with fluorescent green paint on the ground above the break. Then they used cables with increasing blade sizes to remove as much of the root mass as they could. After cableing the sewer pipe, they reinserted the camera to show a cleaner pipe, but an even better picture of the break in the pipe. This house is in the city of St. Louis and some of the house downspouts connect with the sanitary sewer so as the rain continued to fall, water could be seen gushing through the cleaner pipes. I was totally impressed with the persistence of Sean and his assistant in working diligently under the driving rain and windy conditions. Cudos to those two for the fine job they did.

+ 0 moreI called Marty in the afternoon and he arranged for Sean and Charles to come out that day. They called in advance to let me know they were on the way. When they arrived, they put booties on to keep my house clean. They were polite and professional. They put me at ease regarding the problem. They even had booties on the clean equipment they brought into the basement. They cleared the drain and although they did not make a mess, Sean sprayed the area with a cleaner before leaving so it would be kind of clean until I could thoroughly clean with bleach. They also tested before leaving to be sure they had taken care of the problem. I was very pleased with their service and would definitely recommend them!

+ 1 moreThe main drain in the basement was backing up every time the washer was running. Called A & J at approximately 1:45. I was given an estimate and told that a technician would arrive around 3:30 the SAME day! Jeremy arrived early, around 3:20. It turned out that the main stack was clogged. Jeremy is very capable, had all of the necessary equipment with him. He worked for approx. 1.5 hours, running 115 feet of rod all the way to the sewer line at the street. He was very professional, very courteous, and the price was significantly lower than expected for the amount of time and effort he put in. He stayed until we had a chance to check to make certain that all drains in the house were working properly. Would highly recommend A & J (and Jeremy). We hope we won't have a major clogged drain again, but if we do, we'll definitely call A & J.
