Description of Work: They came to snake out a drain in the basement. The technician worked for about 45 minutes before diagnosing that our problem was a collapsed pipe and that it would require a greater degree of effort to fix. He did not charge for the work done, only the service fee for coming out and provided a reference to have the continued work done by another company. I was very pleased with the service.

Description of Work: Two story house with a walk out basement, and drain had to be cleared from the roof. It rained a lot so it took a while before they get up there. By the time that happened the drain was clearing so they didn't really want to do it, but I knew the clog hadn't disappeared. That's why they got the B in professionalism.

Description of Work: Our main drain backed up and they came out as planned and (temporarily) corrected the problem, which was tree roots in our drain line going outside of the house to the main sewer line. Marty and his colleague called 30 minutes beforehand to project their arrival time, which was 5 minutes earlier than their appt. In addition to clearing the problem, they made a DVD and helped us to understand the basics of the sewer lateral program in our community. Clearing out the tree roots with their cutter from the inside was a temporary solution, and we'll need to participate in the program to correct it long-term. I have used A&J prior to joining Angie's List, but when I had this problem, I checked it just to make sure -- but I wasn't surprised to see that A&J were at the top of the list. I do have comfort knowing that I know *exactly* whom to call when I have plumbing problems in the future.

Description of Work: We called them at 8:00 that morning and told them that our kitchen sink was backing up. They said they would be there by 11:00 that same morning. At 9:15 the service man called and asked if he could come early. He arrived at 9:45. He was 100% courteous and professional. He listened while I explained our problem and then told me what he was going to do about it. He then augured out the drain all the way to where it connected to the sewer line outside the house. Clog gone, drain running full tilt. I then told him we had a sink in the bathroom that was draining, but slow. He said he could clean that one too. And he told me that they normally charge $110 to clear a line, but since he was already on site, he'd know $50 off the second one. I was more than happy at that. He ended up working on the bathroom drain longer than he had in the kitchen and was unable to clear it. He said there was a solid block in that line, possible a broken or collapsed pipe. He said it would need more in depth work. Since the drain was running, only slowly, and no water was getting in the house anywhere, we decided to let it go for now. He then cleaned up completely in both locations, including wiping down and sanitizing everything around where he had worked with disinfectant. When he handed me the bill, the total was $110. He said "Since I didn't improve your situation on the second line, there's no charge for that". Wow. We absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: We've had them out twice now, once to clear our outside drain from the house to the street, and once to clear our inside drain from the kitchen sink to the main. Both times we found A & J professional, knowledgable, and quick. They gave us recommendations on the best toilet paper for our pipes and how to use bleach to keep out kitchen lines clear. During the most recent call Jeremy took extra time to mop the floor and clean up with 409 before he left. We call this company first when something goes wrong with our pipes.

Description of Work: The basement drain is always backing up and I've had several different companies out to clear it out only to have it back-up again in a couple of months. AJ did a thorough check and routed the line several times using different sized routers to ensure the pipes were as clean as possible. Now, 7 months later, still no problems. They arrived on time, explained what they were doing as they worked and cleaned up the area when they finished. I will definitely use them again. |

Description of Work: Had a slow, barely-draining drain in shower. Scheduled easily, appt was soon. Worker was on time and cleaned the drain. Explained a plumbing issue contributing to the problem, recommended having a plumber to come fix that problem. Told us the name of the piece to be replaced.

Description of Work: No muss, no fuss...pretty much sums up A&J. Technician Shaun arrived at the time promised and the job was completed in less than an hour. He answered all the questions we had and showed good knowledge of the subject. He even checked the outflow to the city sewer to make sure we had a good flow. We used the $30 Angie's List coupon to reduce the fee from $135.00 to $105.00. Would use again.

Description of Work: 1) Had a sewer back up last year and called them. They went through the system and said it appeared that the situation had resolved itself. They did not charge anything despite taking time to come out and spend about 45 minutes at the house. 2) Called yesterday and they returned my call, gave a time, called back and asked if they could come an hour early and did. They resolved the problem. Only problem is that it was MLK day and I had to pay $100 extra.

Description of Work: Unclogged the sewer pipe between kitchen sink and main sewer clean out. It was totally stopped up - wonderful service and advice on how to prevent stopped up drains. We will definitely call them again!

Description of Work: I have had this drain cleaned out by others several times and this is the first time using A&J. I will have to see if their work lasts longer than previous attempts but given my experience with these folks I am confident it will. Very professional throughout.
