Overall, it was a very good experience. Tenant texted me stating that a drain was clogged. I called A&J and set-up an appointment. They responded immediately. They called and said it was unclogged. However, a few hours later the tenant called me and said it was still clogged. I called A&J and they went back and took care of the problem. Very good response! Thank you!

We had an emergency basement drain back-up after days of torrential rain resulting in at least an inch of standing water in our basement. On a Saturday night of course. I left a message, and was called back within 15 minutes. Once he heard the nature of our problem, he promised to be out in 30-45 minutes once he picked up his gear, and he was there like he said. He was super nice, asked some more detailed questions, and then set right to work. He spent a good hour in my dark wet backyard, completely routing our pipes all the way into the house, taking the time to completely clear the roots and toilet paper that had caused the blockage, up to the largest diameter router he could fit. He gave us recommendations for new toilet paper and showed me the large pile of roots that had crept in, done all in a helpful and easy manner, not at all condescending. He was a complete professional, and the charges were incredibly reasonable for an emergency. I would use him again any time!!!

I found this company on Angie's List and saw their high number of favorable ratings. I called around noon and Marty said he could be here at 3:00. Before we hung up, he said it would probably be more like 2:00. At 12:45, he called and said he was on his way and would be here at 1:15 if someone was going to be home. He arrived on time and went right to work. Very courteous and professional and explained to me what he was doing each step of the way. The entire job was finished in less than an hour.

It went very well. I can't recommend A & J highly enough for good thorough work and excellent customer service. I will use them again and refer them to anyone that needs similar services!

I moved in to my first home a few days before Christmas, and woke up to a foot of water in my basement a few days after Christmas. Marty (owner) was so extremely helpful. He & his team were determined to help fix my problem. They were there working for a very long time due to a lot of problems, yet he was willing to help answer questions about other household issues. He even looked at my washer to see that it was hooked up properly and gave me advice about what to look out for in a old house such as mine. He went above and beyond and I couldn't appreciate it more. Always available to answer questions and is very affordable.

Inserted inspection camera into sewer access and located lateral line break. Although they do not perform the actual lateral line repair themselves (I knew that going in), they marked the area and provided a detailed report. Showed up on time, performed work professionally and promptly and cleaned up when finished.

They came out sooner than expected. The cleanup was great. I would use this company again. I thought the picture process was cool.

They initially attempted to open the sewer line using a typical roto rooter machine. He worked on the the drain for close to 2 hours. He explained what he was doing, and was very professional. Ultimately they decided they needed to use the hydro flush equipment. They indicated the close associated with the additional service. The additional equipment was brought and they openned the sewer and flushed it out. They again were friendly, professional and explained the process. A+ service.

The end of the story is that newer toilets need to have septic tank paper.

I chose this company based on reviews and the $30 off coupon. I have had trouble with our mainline for some time. It kept backing up and after I cleared the clog in our mainline myself the water was still running slow. I also repeatedly used chemicals and root killer all to no avail. We recently removed a huge pine that sat close to where the mainline came out of our house. I thought that roots were probably in the pipes and causing the clog. I wasn't sure if I should hire someone to run a camera down the pipe to see what was there or just have it professionally cleared. I decided not to have the camera work because it seemed to only be an extra cost. Instead I had them clear the main line. The plumber cam out on time. He was friendly and professional. He searched for mainline access in my front yard but it turned out we didn't have one. Instead he had to access it from inside my basement. He worked his rooter machine(?) for about a half an hour. Once he was finished he said there was a large root in the pipe that was the cause of the problem. He showed me the size and told me there was no way I would have been able to remove it with my own snake. Their work is guaranteed for 30 days but so far I haven't had to call him back. I am very glad I had this work done

They arrived on time and did what they where supposed to do. They used boot covers and explained to me what they where doing. They did an overall good job. My only problem was the bible quote on the truck. I have a very serious problem with contractors that use their religion as a marketing tool. If I would have known this ahead of time I would have hired someone else.

We had a backup in our basement bathroom and floor drain. We called A&J on Monday morning, and they came out the same afternoon. He was able to snake out the main line from our front yard, but also worked on the basement floor drain because we had a large clog of toilet paper, flushable wipes, and some balls of tree roots. He told us to start using Angel Soft brand toilet paper, as that is the only brand that doesn't have strong adhesives. Most other quilted toilet paper have adhesives, which won't allow it to break down properly. We switched to Angel Soft that very day. He suggested we get it snaked out once a year because of the rootballs. Overall, he was very helpful. (The price included the $30 Angie's List discount.)

I called this company after discovering a couple inches of water standing on my basement floor. My call was immediately answered. I explained the situation and asked if they could come out as soon as possible. I was told that the appt would be overtime so it would cost and extra $100 on top of whatever services are performed. I agreed and he arrived within an hour and identified the issue as being a main line blockage. I explained that the lines had been snaked last year at this time and he answered my concerns very professionally and patiently. He proceeded to clean the lines; it took about an hour. He had us run the water and flush toilets for 10 minutes or so to check the drain. Everything looked good! Several really nice things about this company. The plumber who came out put on shoe covers and wheel covers (for the equipment) so he didn't track any dirt. He also made no mess around the line he snaked. (The company we used last year left an enormous mess for us and was also incredibly rude.) He also gave us some advice about types of toilet paper to use/not use and other items that could cause blockages. He suggested that we have the lines snaked annually because he believes tree roots are the issue. My only complaint is the extra $100 charge but it was a Saturday and I assumed I would pay premium when I made the call (hence the "A" score anyway). I really appreciated his professionalism and promptness. I will definitely use them next year for this same service (just hopefully a regular service call rather than emergent need).

We've had our drains back up many times and our home warranty insurance would never snake the drains. I called A&J Drain Monday late afternoon after the basement drains backed up again. A&J arrived first thing Tuesday morning and snaked the drain from the outside but I am not sure how far in the snaking reaches. I asked them to snake from the inside out as well but they said that it was probably not necessary since they got a lot of muck and mess out from snaking from the main drain line outside. The basement drains backed up again within 40 hours I ran several loads of laundry from both sides of the house, and I called them in the afternoon around 3pm. They said that it was late already and I said that I knew the inside drain should have been snaked too and it was not, so it was something they should have done during the first appointment so that this call was not necessary. Someone came out that night, FREE of charge, and snaked the inside to find more muck and mess. No more problems but they were helpful at giving tips to avoid further problems and came out again with minimal convincing, without charging extra.

They were on-time, very professional and pleasant. In fact, when the kitchen drain was clogged six weeks later, we called them back and - in addition to cleaning out the drain - they gave us some great advice for keeping it clean.

After Marty and I spoke on the phone, he showed up on time to perform the services. He was extremely professional, courteous, and explained what was going on. I would certainly use him again.

It was a perfect experience. Someone answered my call at 7:45am and it was fixed the same day. Art was very insightful as to the issue, resolution and cause in addition to informing us of how we can prevent in the future. As soon as they left, I added their phone number to my contacts as I will use them going forward and will refer to friends.

This is our rental house and we live out-of-town. They communicated well with me, explained problems and proposed solutions, discussed their actions and were always prompt.

A&J showed up at the promised time, brought good equipment, and did a professional job of clearing our sewer/drain line. They were friendly, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves.

They did very well. The job went very well. The guy was courteous. He was making it apparent. He described exactly what he was willing to do and then he did it. He was scheduled to come at 9, and he was right here on time.

Technician was very courteous and professional. Gave me advice on avoiding the problem in the future. Came out quickly after called.

Our sewer/drain in basement was backing up. I called about 8:30 the morning after labor day weekend and they came out to Chesterfield by 10. He tested the different drains through house then cleaned out the main drain in basement. Gave me good advice to prevent problem in future. Was very nice and professional.

They came out on March 29th. They were excellent.

It was excellent service. They came when they said they would, he worked on one part of the drain and that didn't seem to fix it so he came back and cleared out the other part of the drain. There was no problem with him coming back, he was very agreeable. It was $130 but they gave us a $30 Angie's List discount. They didn't charge us anything to come back. They were very good, professional and knowledgeable about what he was doing. He gave us some helpful hints to keep the drain from clogging up again. I'd use them again and recommend them, too.
