A & J Drain Service LLC

This was a good overall experience, prompt, and complete. A little sweeping up was required after the service which would have been nice if the provider would have done this, but it really wasn't much. The technician completed the bill which was paid by check minus the $30 discount given to Angie's List members.

After living in our house for about 2 months we had a blockage in our septic/sewer line somewhere between the house and the septic tank. Art worked us into his schedule, and came to drop a camera into and snake the sewer line. He met with some frustration, then discovered a huge, clotted grease dam and successfully cleared it. What a relief...two days of limited water use, then back to normal. Art also provided some valuable advice for the overall health and maintenance of our septic system.

I got A & J's information from Angies List and, seeing that he had the highest rating for the service I required I contacted them. I left a message and I recieved a return call from Marty, the owner, within thirty minutes, and explained my situation. Marty explained he was on another job and it might be between two to three hours before he could get to me which was great. At exactly the two and a half hour mark Marty showed up at my door and started immediately. He had the sewer line freed up within forty five minutes and the problem was solved. I was extremely impressed with how clean his equipment was and how he insisted that he clean up before leaving. I would recommend A & J Drain Services to anyone with drain problems, you would have to go a long way to beat their professionalism and service.

We have a 70+ year old house and have one old broken drainpipe that is scheduled to be replaced in the next couple of weeks. Since we are getting new gutters and downspouts, we wanted to identify and resolve any other potential drain issues by having the remaining drains scoped and cabled if needed. I called A&J based on the positive reviews on Angie's List, and scheduled an appointment to have the work done. Marty, the owner, and his technician came out on time and got to work right away. They brought everything they needed to work quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. I was impressed by their professionalism and highly recommend them.

He did a great job and is an obviously honorable man. He did everything that we needed him to do and did it with integrity. There is no doubt in my mind that I would hire him again. There is obviously a reason why the overwhelming majority of reviews for A&J are an 'A'

Marty called in advance to confirm the time, arrived on time, and got to work immediately after briefly discussing what he planned to do. Afterwards, he explained again what he did and the results of his service. I was completely satisfied

A & J showed up 15 minutes before the promised time, and took time to diagnose the problem before going to work. They were careful about bringing in their equipment, covering around the work area to control dirt, and cleaning up after themselves when the job was done. They have good equipment for the task of sewer cleaning and were able to work efficiently and effectively without making a mess. They have an Angie's List coupon that gave me $30 off their regular price.

I’m always a bit uneasy with having home related services (i.e. plumbing, electrical work, etc.) performed. You never know for sure if it will be done right, or if the cost will turn out to be more than expected. Contacting A&J Drain Service turned out to be the right decision. Martin arrived within an hour of my call, was polite and quickly cleared the clog in our home’s exterior drain/sewer line. Additionally, he gave some good advice to help us out so we didn’t run into the issue again. The price was better than other places we contacted, and Martin made sure things where cleaned up before leaving. All around smooth, and positive experience!

We'd called a different company who sent a plumber. He was insulted that we "only" needed a drain unclogged~~~and he didn't carry tools to do it. He called his company and his replacement was going to take longer than A&J to arrive and was going to cost twice as much. We're keeping A & J in our rolodex!

I think it went very well. This was a straight-forward cleanup, and much-needed. Art was courteous and professional, diligent and efficient in his task.

The service came out to unclog our utility room sink that serves as the drainage point for our washing machine, and the drain had gotten clogged with lint. They were responsive to our call and came within 24 hours. They were professional and took care of things immediately. Not only did they get the drain completely unclogged, but they also cleaned out the sink, cleaned the floor drain underneath it. They were easy to work with, prompt, professional. We would definitely use their services again.

Gentleman that came out was really nice. He explained everything that he was having to do to clean the drain. He gave us tips to keep the drain clear. I was very impressed with this company. Awesome same day service and honored the coupon we found after we set an appointment.

Called Marty, he said he would be here before 1pm (on a Saturday). He was here 10 minutes early. Had everything done in no time,. Gave us the $30 coupon for being Angie's list member! Would definitely call them again.

I called late morning; Marty said he could be there 5:00 or so, but actually arrived about 2 hours earlier than that after calling to make sure it was okay. Cabled the drain, offered education about the source and nature of the problem, and removed the backflow valve that initially impeded cable insertion. He was fast, efficient, personable, and helpful. Marty called me back as soon as he finished the job he was on and was at our home within 30 min after that. He took time to explain the problem to me and took extra time to be sure the line was completely clear. He gave me good advice on how to keep it clear in the future.

sewage backed up in basement because main sewer line was clogged. called Marty from A&J and he was at my house in about an hour. He brought the "big guns" and went right to work. He had our sewer opened and draining in 1/2 hour. I had a clogged kitchen sink which he cleared also. I had a broken sewer cover he was able to replace and he tried to open up a basement floor drain, but was unable to clear the trap. He said something was wrong with the trap and we needed a new one. He refered me to a plumber to replace it. He did all this work in an hour.Our constipation, I was told, was at least 10 feet deep. He also advised against using quilted or "plush" toilet paper. Apparently it doesn't break down as it should and clogs your drain.

We called A&J after the laundry stack in our new (to us) home went haywire and were instantly impressed by how quickly they were able to schedule our appointment. Art went right to work trying to clear the line, explaining everything he did and offering maintenance tips. Once the laundry stack was working again we asked him to take a look at a drain in the basement bathroom and he immediately noticed a problem the home and county inspectors had missed. He told us exactly how to describe the issue to someone who specialized in that kind of repair, which was very helpful since we're plumbing novices. The cost of this visit was only $80 thanks to a $30 coupon we found online. A couple days later Marty came out to deal with another drain issue and our experience with him was also stellar. He worked very carefully, made sure we understood everything he did, and even took a look at the rest of our plumbing set-up on his way out and offered suggestions for keeping everything running smoothly. The price was again very reasonable; the second visit totaled $110. We wouldn't hesitate to use A&J again and will recommend them to friends without reservation.

My main sewer line has backed up for several years due to tree roots. The County actually repaired the line last year however the company they contracted with did poor work and installed cheap materials. Less than a year after the work was done I had sewage backed up again. A&J came out on a Saturday and spent several hours running a snake thru my lines to try to clear the blockage. They tried many differnt options. When they were not able to do clear the blockage, they ran a camera, at no charge to me, to find the source of the problem. It became clear that the issue had not been fixed in the prior year by the County. A&J took a video for me, assisted me in filling out an emergency application with the County, called their contacts and by Monday morning I had workers in my yard correcting the issue. A&J went above and beyond to make sure I had running water as soon as possible. Other companies I have called in the past would have charged me for every time they ran a snake down my line and double for the camera. I would definetly use them again and have recommended them to all of my friends and neighbors.

A & J was able to come out the same day and clean the kitchen stack. They did a good job cleaning up and testing for leaks in the sink trap pipes. He reassembled the kitchen sink trap that I had disassembled while trying to find the clog. The price was a little higher than others but at least he was willing to take a check.

I found him on Angie’s List, I would give him a double plus rating, he is a very good, and I have recommended him to my neighbors. I got a discount on the first thing he did because he took Angie’s List coupons. I paid $200 for the first time, $175 for the second time, and I don’t think he made much on them, I was happy with the price.

They scheduled a first morning appointment time for us and called before 8 a.m. to say they would be 10 minutes late. The services were performed efficiently and I was kept informed of what was being done and how to better maintain my drain to avoid need for future services. They honored the $30 off coupon from Angie's List and I was able to make my scheduled appointments for the morning.
