I called them around 7:00 am due to a drain backup in my main floor laundry room. They arrived at 8:30 and were done by 9:10. They removed the clog through the roof vent rather than the basement stack, to prevent a potential mess. They were friendly, professional, and quick. Great service, would definitely use them again.

Called in the morning and got scheduled for that afternoon (not an emergency). Called 20 minutes before appointment time to say they were running a little late, which was a nice cushion of time. Marty showed up and was great all the way through. I have a long run with a few tick corners in a 90 year old house and he got it straight up to the main stack first try. With it flowing again, he gave it another run to make sure it was cleaned out and we were done. He even cleaned up the roots that came out. This is the only company I will ever call for a clogged or slow moving drain! They were on time, professional, and extremely friendly. We wanted our sewer line cleaned (jetted) and they responded quickly, verifying their work with an in-line camera. I know they were cheaper than some other companies, too. Any drain problem - these are the people I and my family will be calling.

I called with a backup in my basement floor drain. Spoke directly to the owner (Marty) and he thoroughly explained my options - including overtime for the current day (it was almost 5p) vs. an appt the next morning. Made the appt for the following morning. On time to appt and very thorough in explaining what would be done. Very professional and respectful of me and my home. Thorough in keeping my home clean (wearing booties while entering my home). Provided suggestions of do's/don'ts on reducing the chances of a drain clog in the future. It was very refreshing to be connected with a company thru Angie's List that took pride in their workmanship, was very knowledgeable in their profession and genuinely wanted to not only solve the problem but also satisfy the customer. I even recommended A&J Drain Service to a friend - the same day! This will be the FIRST company i call for any future drain issues I may have.

My house is a little on the old side (maybe 60 years old), and as far as I can remember, I have always had a plumbing issue when it comes to my main drain in my basement (a lot of the times, when I run my washing machine and it comes time for the spin cycle, water will back up on the basement floors. Have also had a couple of sewage back-ups in recent years). More recently, when I run my shower, my basement began to flood as well. I made a call on Friday (1/25) to make an appt. for the next day. The gentleman was nice enough to let me know that they usually charge overtime for weekends, but if I made the appt. that day then I wouldn't be charged OT. He arrived promptly at the scheduled time and popped my line open in no time (even on his 24th birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!) Price was very reasonable (much less than I expected) and plumber was very pleasant. Would definitely recommend them again!

Marty quickly found the sewer access in basement and cleaned the entire length of the drain. Roots and other materials had blocked drain. A test revealed water flowed properly after cleanout. The whole job took less than an hour, and Marty left the basement neat. A good job, in my opinion, and I appreciated his promptness. I'll call A&J for any future backups.

I have a rental house that gets roots in the drain periodically. It choose a Saturday when I was really busy with family and just getting over being sick.. my renter called and it was backing up in the house. It was a Saturday and I knew the charge for a good sewer cleaning would probably be really high a crumby job... So, like an idiot, I tried once again to do it myself.. It was raining, starting to get cold, and sleeting.. I told my renter time to call 911!! I called Marty. He was in Webster Groves and said it would cost only $100 extra over his normal fee of &130... I was dubious from past experiences.. I drove home, he and his wife showed up at the time they said they would.. it was raining, freezing, plain sucked outside. He worked his rear off, basically pulled a whole tree out of my sewer, and kept going even after he broke his cable once.. He was just great, only charged the $230 like he promised, it was done fast, GOOD!!! not just a cheezy quick job, and at a great price. If you think this is a high price, just check around. And most guys don't give a squat if the job is good or not!! I'm going to have him come once a year and clean the drain, like he said, when it's not freezing rain and sleet! What a great guy. Good job, good price, call him, you will not regret it!!

It was great. He came on short notice. He was a hard worker and he was honest. He did all the work and then set me up with a contractor to put in a new main drain. The contractor did all the paperwork with the county government because there is an insurance program.

I spoke with Marty in the morning and he told me he couldn't get out to my house until later in the day. He offered another service provider's name and phone number when I wasn't sure if I could wait. After I got off the phone with Marty I decided to call back--because of all the excellent reviews...and I was really impressed that he would offer someone else if he couldn't meet my time frame. They called before they got to my house.....when they arrived and started doing the work, Shawn explained what they were doing, what caused the problem and that it wasn't a broken line (thankfully!)......excellent service from two really super guys! I would HIGHLY recommend them......I didn't do any price shopping...but for me it's worth the money I paid because they are what service should be always--excellent!...thanks Marty and Shawn!

I called on a Saturday night and the phone was answered someone who was out in the area and offered to come over and work on our drain that night. However I was informed that if they came out at that time there would be an additonal $100 charge for Overtime. He said that if it could wait until Monday morning that he could do the same service for much cheaper. I really appreciated his telling me of their overtime pricing structure instead of automatically just coming out and charging me the additional money. We set up the appointment for 11 AM on Monday. Art from A&J showed up at the scheduled time to the minute. Before entering our house he put on show covers to ensure that he would not get anything on our floors. He investigated the situation and within a couple of minutes identefied the root of the problem (greese in the soil pipe in the basement). He snaked out the drain and within a 1./2 hour our issue was fixed. He also gave me advice on how to prevent this kind of situation in the future. I thought that the price was very reasonable compaired to other service providers I read about in Angie's List ($80 after their $30 Angies List discount). They also gave me a 30 day warranty incase what he did, did not resolve the issue. I appreciated the professional and prompt service that Art from A&J gave me and would recommend them to others as well as use them again myself.

Called on a Sunday morning for sewage in the basement. Marti and his wife were at my house within two hours. He worked outside for quite a while, on one of the coldest days of the year. Turns out the line is most likely broken, as he kept pulling back mud with every cable size he tried. They worked for at least an hour, and refused to accept any payment. I have used A&J one time previously, for the same problem, and had excellent service, rapid response, and resolution of the problem.

They did a great job. Despite having to work out of a temporary truck, they were on-time, fast, professional, and clean. I recommend.

The service did a good job and charged a very reasonable fee, helped by the $30 Angie's list coupon, and cleaned up after themselves which I greatly appreciated. They did not charge extra for coming on a Saturday. The two plumbers were polite and knew what they were doing. They gave me advice about how to avoid another stoppage.

I was waiting for another service who stated they would be there to unclog our sewer between 4 and 7 pm. At 530 they called and stated that they would not be available for another 4-5 hours and recommended we call someone else. At 530 pm on Sunday evening, I called A & J Drain Services. He was just finishing up the day's receipts and ready to leave when I called. He stated that he would come but it would be overtime. I agreed and he was there in less than thirty minutes. He was professional and answered any questions we had after the job was finished. I did not give him the thirty dollar coupon or it would have cost $200, after hours. Was just happy someone came for we had a complete blockage.

The crew of one arrived within the scheduled time and went work right away. We showed him where the trap was in the front yard and in a reasonable amount of time he had cleared the sewer line.

Came quickly and worked hard to clear the line. Also, cleaned up work area when service was complete and left clear instructions in the event we experienced any additional problems.

Very personable to talk to on the phone. They came out within 24 hours for an estimate and to fix the clog. The problem ended up being more complex than initially thought since the clog was pretty far down the line. They had to come back the next day to add an access point in the basement. They did not charge us for another visit and fixed the problem. They were very helpful and gave us suggestions to keep the problem from happening again. Will definitely use them again!

On the plus side, the drain was cleared of the lint that had built up after only a few months of the new setup. (We hadn't had a sink previously and the washer had discharged straight down the stand pipe.) When I asked how to prevent the build up, I was informed of a "sock" that could be purchased at a hardware store to catch the lint at the end of the discharge hose. Water flow was normal at the completion of the work. On the negative side, the plumber was 15 minutes early to the appointment so I hadn't arrived home yet to meet him. My fiancee's son was home and answered the door. He called his mom to find out what to do and the message from her that I was supposed to be there and have the plumber wait got twisted into we got someone else to do the work. So, I arrived home just before the scheduled appointment time to find that he'd left to go to his next job. Despite them having my cell number, I was never called to get confirmation or clarification of the situation. I called Marty to get the guy back out to the house ASAP because I'd taken off work early to get to the appointment. He accommodated. Lesson to me... Make sure companies arriving for service appointments know who has the authority to make changes to that appointment. Lesson to companies... Make sure you confirm odd situations like this with the responsible person who made the appointment. Just because someone answers the door who is above 18 years old does not make them a responsible party who can make decisions for the homeowner and secondhand messages are not reliable or trustworthy. In the end, everything worked out and the work was done successfully the day it was scheduled to be done.

.As it turns out, the company was in my area and I became the next call...someone was here within an hour. They were courteous, professional, and friendly. Within a half hour the problem was resolved and my son, who had to go to work, was able to take his shower before he left. I would definitely use this company again. I did use the $30 coupon from Angie's list so the work only cost $200

I'll start because I talked to Marty this morning to set up an appointment for when my husband got off work. Best part? I didn't talk to an answering machine.Marty said he'd have someone here at 5pm and they were on time. I got home from work and my husband told me Art and another gentleman "worked their butts off".I'll let him finish the story because he followed them while they worked, but he did save a great wad of roots to show me.:) They came and went right to work, routed out from our main stack to the mainline. Unfortunately that didn't fix our problem, so they went out behind the house to run the router into the mainline access. But another problem, because of some landscaping done last year we could not find the access, so they started packing up and advised me we would need to schedue another visit. By this time they had been here about an hour and it was well past the time they normally get off work. While they were packing up the truck I got lucky in the dark and found the access. Here's where they surprised me I told them I found the access and instead of telling me they would reschedule they said let's go! They unloaded, got the heavy stuff out and routed out the mainline. I can't tell you how hard these two guys worked, and what they got out of the mainline! Our drain is now working! This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with someone coming to our home and working . If you need drain service call A&J Drain Service.

I really like this guy! He was so nice and personable and did a GREAT job. I won't use anyone else but him again. He also helped me identify and uncover where my outside access point would be in the driveway. I'm so impressed with his service, attitude and how fair I was treated. He really proves there are good businessmen out there!

We have since had to contract Marty again to scope a different line. And, although the original time frame was recorded incorrectly (subsequently making him late) a simple phone call got the matter cleared up quickly. All in all, we are very happy with Marty and his service. We will definitely use him again for any future needs.
