I called the provider based on Angie's List recommendation to explain the situation. Water was backing up in my garage bt I explained that it wasn't an emergency since the water was squeegeed out and it was rarely used. They had an opening the next day and sent out Sean, a technician with the company. He called in advance to let me know he was available earlier than my appointment time and would I mind if he came early. I agreed and he came out and immediately went to work. I watched the process as he explained what was going on with my drain. After running over 40 feet of cable he encountered the clog and as it turned the clay mud on the cable blade signified a collapsed line and it will require some digging and repairs to resolve the issue. He explained all of my options and made some recommendations. Since this will involve a more serious cash expenditure, I chose to wait before digging up the line. The drain issue wasn't resolved but I am comfortable with putting it off for the time being. When the time comes, A&J will be my choice as a consultant even if additional contracting work is needed. I used the Angies List coupon which helped with the bill.

A & J called to let me know that they would be a little late because of traffic. They were running about five minutes late. They explained the procedure on how they would open the clogged kitchen drain. They were very neat and protected the area to make sure that everything stayed clean. It took about fifteen minutes to clear the drain. They gave me a preventive monthly procedure on how to keep the drain clear. The provided me with a receipt and accepted the coupon that I had printed from Angie's List. I would use this company again if the need arises.

In July I noticed that the basement drain had recently backed up. We live in an older house with older drains and lots of trees so we have come to expect this problem. I called. They came out and cleaned the kitchen drain. It seemed to do the trick and is often all we need, but it began backing up again so they came back and cleaned from the kitchen to some where but not out to the street and that seemed to solve the problem, but sadly not so. The third time they took pictures and the real problem lies with roots so they did what they could and we got a product called Root Destroy from them to add when we could be without water for 4-6 hours. They have had to come three times but I like that they start with the least expensive problem to see if that works. Because this problem comes up we have used them on several other occasions and have been very happy with their professionalism, suggestions on what we can do to slow down the problem and that they always respond to our calls and come when they say they will.

Things went very well - the guys were polite and went right to work. In no time they were finished resetting the toilets. Yes I would hire the again.

My backed-up drain has been a problem for over the past year, and I just now got around to it. It's a great feeling to do a load of wash without walking down to a floaded basement. I'm actually excited about doing the wash again. We'll see how long that lasts. lol. Marty (owener) and Justin were 20 minutes early, which is great. They got right to work and didn't leave until they were certain that the problem was fixed. They were in and out in under 30 minutes. Both gentlemen were very professional and I would use Marty's services again in a heart beat. They used a non-traditional snake that grabs more of the reminents from lint etc. They also used a larger cutter than other companies in this line of business. Marty said he does this because he only wants to come out once. Sounds good to me. He also recommended that I purchase a wire mesh lint trap from the hardware store to place over my hose. You can buy 2 of these for under $3.00. The cost to clean the drain was originally $110.00, but the $30 coupon from Angie's List knocked the price down to $80.00. This was well worth it to me. $110 would have been worth it, but the discount sweetened the pot.

I thought I may have a break in my main sewer line outside of my house. Sean came out and ran a camera through my main sewer line. Everything was fine. It took about 25 minutes from when the truck arrived to when he drove away. Things went very well with no problems.

I called and explained the situation here -- I'm caregiving for my elderly mother and we live in a very small home with only one toilet. I couldn't imagine facing the weekend with no flush! Sean said he'd take care of us when I'm sure he would have liked to go home for the night. I so appreciate his friendly efficient work ethic!

I have used this provider two or three times. EAch time they have come, they have performed the work quickly and have done an excellent job each time.

Sean was great. I have been having trouble with the bathtub draining into the master shower down the hall and along the way picking up waste water from the kitchen line. It is not fun to see bits of macaroni floating in your shower that the garbage disposal didnt get. He spent a lot of time getting the lay of the land on my dodgy Jefferson county plumbing system. He explained why I was having the trouble and he snaked every line. He also spent time giving me some tips on how to mitigate future problems. In addition to all that, he provided a recommendation for a plumber to come out and fix some leaking pipes from the bathtub. All in all a very positive experience.

Polite young man, showed up 10 minutes early and called to make sure I was ready. Start to finish 20 minutes. Showed me what to do next time so I could take care of it myself and save some money. Highly recommend.

I had a blocked drain and first tried clear it myself. It turned out to be more complicated. I contacted an Angie's List plumber I had used before. He came out after 5:00 PM and tried, but was not able to clear the clog. It was now about 24 hours with a clogged drain. The plumber said he knew someone that would be able to clear the drain. He contacted him while here and gave him my contact information on his answering machine. Promptly the next morning Sean of A&J Drain Service called me about the problem. He agreed to come out, but would not be able to be here until about 3 PM, but would call if he were able to get here sooner. I told him we had not been able to use the sinks for about 36 hours and would appreciate it if he were able to get here before three. About 9:30 he was at my door (he tried to call, but my wife was on the phone) saying he just finished a job about three minutes away and had some time before his next call. He assessed the problem, got his equipment working and in a short time had the drain opened up. Before leaving he gave us a suggestion on treatment for the drain that should help keep it open. Overall, I was very pleased with this service and the fact that Sean appeared several hours before the time he said he would to work on the problem. He was positive, enthusiastic, and helpful. Based on our experience with Sean's work I would not hesitate to call A&J again if I had drain problems, or to recommend this company to others.

He came by and we have like this sewer gas smell sometimes in our house and he gave me advice on just filling up drains that it hadn't been used in a long time and keeping water and hose. He said if there's some that are dry, it will have sewer gases build up but I have filled up those and I'm still getting this smell and stuff, I think I need to have him come out and clean our stock. He was here and came back and gave me advice and didn't charge. He was on time.

The technician worked for over an hour trying different locations and ways to snake the drain clear. Unfortunately, due to the age of my plumbing he ran into problems and was not able to clear the drain. He did not charge me anything for all the work he did. Gave me the number of a good reference to have the work that needs to be done.

A&J arrived right on time. They were courteous and professional. I had a slow drain in a bathtub, and a clogged drain in a shower. I was worried about the shower drain, and it did turn out to be a stubborn clog. A&J were able to take care of both problems in about an hour, and both drains are running great. They're reasonably priced, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Shaun was friendly, polite, professional and punctual. He had me flush the toilets to ascertain the extent to which the drain was clogged. I mistakenly assumed that one drain was clogged. he located the main drain in the yard and cleared out roots and toilet paper.

They were good and I would use them again.

I had no issues getting in contact with them and set an appointment time. They actually showed up ahead of time by a few mins. They reviewed the situation and brought in a large power snack. They were very careful about getting it into the house and covered everything before use. After about 45 mins of work they were still unable to clear the blockage and recommended we contact the city of Brentwood for assistance. But even after that they refused any payment since they were unable to clear the problem. Amazing ! I would definitely keep them in mind for any future issues.

They were very responsive - the clog happened on a Friday morning. They came out quickly but could not resolve the issue without going on the roof. Since this required two people, he couldn't do it right away. They came back the next day - a Saturday morning - to complete the job. In addition, they identified several issues with our plumbing that they fixed for a very small fee. We will use A&J again - responsive, professional, high quality work and reasonable price.

Over the last year or so we have had 2 other companies come to do the annual maintenance of our lateral sewer line. Both of them did an incomplete job as they were unable to locate the yard vent and so could not clear the line all the way. The line finally clogged up in the distal part due to lots of tree root growth and sewage was backing up into our basement. A&J came out the same day, located the yard vent without a problem, and cleared the entire line. They stayed for almost 3 hrs (it was well past 7pm by the time they left) in order to finish the job thoroughly, where the others just shrugged their shoulders and left (and still made us pay). We are VERY pleased with their responsiveness, work ethic, professionalism, and pride in their work and will use them from now on for our annual maintenance.

Somehow, the sewer line never seems to back-up during regular business hours, so boy did I appreciate hearing a human voice at the other end of the phone line. Marty was quick, prompt and efficient at answering the late evening call, cutting through his list of other customers and attending to our situation. Turned out as expected, tree roots were backing up our sewer line. Considering the toilet overflow in the basement and the next day travel, we were happy to pay the extra fee for evening/overtime, and delighted with the $30 Angie's List discount. Now that we've found the first drain service we actually trust and like, you can bet we'll be calling pro-actively, and hopefully putting an end to the emergency phone call situations for us.

I called A&J Drain Service at 3:00 PM Thursday, and talked briefly to Martin Rowland, the owner. I described the problem with the sink drain in my bathroom. He quoted a price of $110 to clear the drain. I told him I had a $30 coupon from Angie's List, and he made the price $80. He asked if 9:00 AM the next day would work, and agreed. Sean, the A&J Drain Service technician knocked on my door at 8:50 AM. He immediately put on dispsible booties over his shoes, and came in the house. He got right to work snaking the drain pipe with a power cable snake. It took four attempts at snaking the pipe to clear the drain. After the second attempt, he called the owner, Martin Rowland, for a consultation. Sean was very careful to wipe up any water and gunk in between each attempt. Sean was very professional, focused, and knowledgeable, as well as polite and friendly. The drain was cleared, the area cleaned, and Sean was gone in an hour. A&J Drain Service was very responsive and effective, making this a very positive experience.

When we called A&J, we had already had two visits from another company that specializes in unclogging drains. We had a sewer back up on May 28, 2013 and had a service call for which we paid quite a bit of money. Apparently it didn't help at all. Three weeks later we had a further sewer back up in our place of business. The first outfit came back out at no charge because we were within our 30 day warranty. However, within 5 days, we had a third sewer backup - worse that all the others - which caused major damage to wood flooring, tile flooring and carpeting. When I the first people about it, the response was that we were ONE DAY past our warranty, and there would be new charges for coming out. Long story short, I did not trust them to do the job by this point and called A&J. They immediately spotted what the problem had been all along, and which had not been addressed at all, and took care of it. They were prompt and courteous and gave me good advice on how to proceed with clean up and drying out. Should definitely have called A&J in the first place - don't make my mistake!
