We were very happy with the speed and competence shown by A & J Drain Service. J. cleared our kitchen drain the same day we called. We will definitely call them again if we have any more drainage problems. Cost of service is minus $30 Angie coupon.

Josh came out on 3/5. We needed a video of the sewer line. We just had the line cleaned by another company on 3/1 and said we had a break in the clay pipe and should have someone do a video. Josh tried running the camera thru but found roots that the other guy said he cleared. Josh ran a cutter and cleared the line so he could to the video. He left the DVD for me and gave me the name of a company the can reline the pipe as the problem was with roots. I wish he would have asked if I was a member of Angie's list as I could have used a $30 off coupon.

The company cleaned out drain. Heavy snow and ice made it impossible to get on the roof at first visit. After ice melted they returned cleaned drain quickly. He always called. Was was earthy both times. Gave us discount even though I had not print the coupon for him. So nice to find a company with integrity, skills, positive worn ethic. Would use use in a heart beat.

I had problems with my basement drain earlier last year, and it took the person mulitple visits to clear up the situation. The previous provider had to climb up on my roof, and never had the correct size cutter to use. A & J came on a Sunday, put covers on their feet, and had all the equipment. They were able to use the basement stack for access, and cleared the roots in less than half hour. They were fast, courteous, professional, and I recommend them to anyone.

Superior job & fast friendly professional service!! Will certainly do business with in the future. I called on Monday. I had a small amount of water coming up drain in basement when doing laundry (it would go down slowly). It's just a basement not finished at all I asked if they could come 'sometime this week' they said they could come the next day @ 11:00. The next morning, they called at 0945 & said that they had gotten finished with their first job a little early, if I wanted they could be at my house by 10:00 I was thrilled! They arrived, looked at the problem, went on roof & cleared the drain. Very fast, friendly & professional. They excepted my Angie's List coupon. Perfect! Thank you :)

They came out quickly, were very pleasant and polite, dressed neatly and professional in every way. They got on the roof, went down through the trap and unclogged the sewer. It only took about 45 mins and they gave them a 30 day guarantee and my parents were extremely pleased with the entire experience!

We had no indication that our sewer line was becoming blocked until water from our washing machine began backing up from our basement floor drain at 8:30 at night. We tried plunging the drain without success. It became clear to us that using any of our plumbing was going to cause the sewer in the basement to back up. It went down eventually, but extremely slowly. When raw sewage started coming up, we placed a call to A&J Drain Service because the company was so well rated through Angie's List. Marty answered our call at 9:40 pm and arrived less than an hour later on this cold winter night. He got right to work, cabling to the house from the sewer pipe in our yard near the street. He removed gobs of roots, but the line was still blocked. After 45 minutes of working nonstop, he said he would have to return the next afternoon when the temperature was predicted to be several degrees above freezing. With warmer temperature, he would be able to use a machine to hydro-flush the sewer pipe. As promised, he and an assistant returned the next day and the machine they brought cleared the sewer line quickly. We had tried to pay Marty the night before, but he wouldn't take anything since he hadn't yet been successful. The next day, after the drain was successfully cleared, we were given a bill for the overtime charge from the night before ($100), plus the charge for the hydro-flush ($275). We were given the Angie's List $30 coupon discount. The total charge of $345 might sound high, but we felt it was fair. We were not charged for all the time and effort spent working on the sewer line the night before; only for the overtime fee (which believe me, we were willing to pay). Marty also gave us some worthwhile advice: Have the drains cleared out once a year to keep roots from clogging and possibly damaging the sewer line. He also told us not to use thick quilted toilet tissue (he named specific brands to avoid). We've looked through our records, and it appears that the last time our drains were cleared was over 6 years ago. We plan to call A&J for preventative service in the future to avoid another plumbing crisis like this one.

They showed up promptly, they were very nice and professional, and it only took an hour! The last company that did this spent 5 hours and it cost $500. I am very pleased with their work and "bedside manner." A&J Drain service will be my first call from now on.

My kitchen drain is tied into my basement sink drain. When running the kitchen sink or the washer (which empties into the basement sink) I noticed food particles would come up and it was clogged. The water would eventually go down but I knew there was a problem and didn't want an overflow to occur. I called A&J Drain Service after reading a number of the positive reviews on Angies List. They were able to come out within 24 hours of me calling to schedule an appointment. They called 20 minutes before their scheduled arrival to inform me that they would be a little late, totally understand because the road conditions were a mess. They were courteous, asked me to explain the problem. From there they assessed what tools they should use and how to attack the issue. The snaked the line where the kitchen sink and basement sink fed into. At the same time I was asked to run water from that kitchen sink and the bathroom tub. From there they decided to snake the main drainage line in the floor of the basement. After about 45 minutes they unclogged the drain. They explained to me that 9 times out of 10 issues like this are caused by pouring grease, fats, oils and other foods that stick to the pipes and eventually build up and cause clogs. I was told that all of the products sold at your home improvement stores are a waste of $. Pouring a little bleach and hot water every month or so down the drains will help clear the pipes and prevent these issues. Also, all food scraps and grease/oil is going in the trash can from now on. If you are homeowner who is truly interested in care and maintenance of your home then you will appreciate their business and work. Total cost was $110 minus the $30 coupon. I gave them a tip since they were responsive and did a great job.

I could not have asked for better overall experience (other than not to have it at all) I called around 8:30 am and left a message regarding my problem. They called back within 10 minutes, and scheduled an appointment for 11 am. At about 9:50 Sean called and said that he could come early, in about 10 minutes, if that was OK. He showed up 10 minutes later. Very, very polite, professional, asked questions,explained what he thought it was and what he was going to do about it. Very thorough, made sure that the drain was clean from the top to the bottom. Entire process took about an hour and a half- Again, they made sure that it was open the entire way. Cost was reasonable, especially since the entire process (the call, to them pulling out of the driveway) was less than 3 hours. Sean and Jeremy were awesome- I will never use anyone but A&J plumbing!

He refused to honor his $30 coupon for Angie's List members because, "I didn't inform him of the coupon offer at the time I called to order the service". This is a ridiculous request and indicative of a scam bait offer. He should be removed from Angie's List altogether for unethical practices---- which is what Angie's List is supposed to protect us from.

A and J came and snaked our sewer lateral, with an angieslist coupon for a total of $100. | |They were early and completed the service quickly and cleanly. I would use again.

Sean & Jeremy from A&J Drain Service showed up a half hour early on New Year's Eve morning. In under an hour they had cleared our line and had it running again. They were fast, professional, friendly and the cost was very reasonable! They also gave us really good advice: none of the toilet wipes are "flushable" even if they say so! They also told gave us tips on keeping our lines open. We will most certainly call them again if needed!

The were on the job within the time frame the specified and were professional and courteous. We will happily recommend them.

Ran camera down sewer line to determine tree root and clogging issues. They located a buried trap in the back portion of yard and cleaned out section. Put tree root killer in sewer. Now that we know trap is there snaking sewer in the future should be much easier.

I called about a clogged drain in my basement on Thankgsiving day. They answered my call and gave me the name of someone else who was handling their calls on Thanksgiving. I told them that I did not want to call someone else and that I wanted to use them and that I could wait until Friday (I've had some bad experiences with another company and I wanted to rely on the Angies' list recommendations). They put me on their schedule for first thing Friday morning and showed up 15 minutes early. Very professional. They know what they are doing and they did the job well.

I have an old house with a lateral sewer line that is flat. I have to have it cleaned every couple of years due to basement backup. I have been using A&J for the past 10 years or so. They have always been responsive and do a very good job. In the 29 years I've been in this house I've used several drain cleaning services. After finding A&J, I have no reason to try any other company. I would recommend them to anyone needing this service.

I was very pleasantly surprised that they were able to get to me hours before they had originally told me they would be here. The two young men were very personable and professional. They did the job quickly and expertly, and even went beyond what I saw as being in scope with the job to use my shop vac to rid the area of water downstairs where it had leaked from the toilets upstairs. They also gave me valuable information on how to take care of a pipe that will worsen over time if not attended to now.

On Saturday morning, we notice that water was backing up out of the floor drain in the basement laundry room. We have not had any back up from that drain since we had the lateral pipe replaced back in 2002 via the Webster Groves Lateral pipe program. Selected A&J Drain Service from Angie's list. I called and left a message. Marty called back within 20 minutes. He said he could come out. Explain the cost would be $130 plus $100 for Saturday overtime. Gave me a choice to wait until Monday which would have eliminated the O/T cost. I did not want to wait that long. Marty arrived on time. I explained the situation. This was the first time the cap had been taken off of the outside vertical pipe to the lateral line. He snaked the line both ways. Marty was very easy to talk to and answered all my questions. He explained that when we had the lateral work done, they did not replace it all the way out to the main line. Later he showed me via his video camera. He also explained that we have a slight low spot which allows water to sit before it drains out to the main line. I'm very pleased with A&J Drain service and would definitely use them again. Just before leaving, Marty mentioned that he is the owner of the company and was working Saturday to give his other employees a chance to have the weekend off.

I called A & J Drain Service and they came out that same day. The drains were overflowing and paper towels and other things were coming up through the drain. Marty and his assistant got right to work and got the drains cleared out. They were very efficient and cleaned up the mess. This was on a Wednesday. By the following Monday the drains were clogged up again with even more debris and other things. I called Marty up and he came over that same day. He snaked out the drains again and this time it worked well. He cleaned up the disgusting mess. There was no charge for this visit and this visit was a lot messier. I am very impressed with his professionalism. I will definitely recommend him to my friends.
