Norse Construction, LLC is a unique small business. Over my 30 plus years of construction I've had numerous customers tell me of contractors who don't show up, don't clean up after themselves, build what THEY want and NOT what the homeower wants. Its simple. I started Norse simply because you should have what YOU want and when you want it - period.

I had Norse come out to give me a bid on my bathroom. I was looking to use one of their Angieslist coupon. Bruce came out straight away to give me a bid before the coupon ran out. He was very professional, responsive and punctual. When he arrived, he was super nice and gave me good/solid info which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, we had some family issues which caused us to put off our project. But I still wanted to write a review to let others know how nice Bruce was and how much I appreciated his time. I wouldn't hesitate to have Bruce in our home or do another project for us. :-)
Description of Work: Bid on bath project. to make it look like it did in 1920s/originally... Tear out surround, redo/prep walls, tile entire bath w/ subway tile, replace vanity, toilet, all fixtures, lighting, etc.

This deal was so good that it had generated a lot of business. We had to schedule the appointment out several weeks, but that was fine. We spent about 20-25 minutes talking about what we were interested in and then he took measurements. We had a fairly detailed proposal in under a week. Definitely impressed.

The design, which was very unique and creative, was executed to perfection. The two deck tiers and patio included complementary earth tone woods and colors. The deck railing and trim was implemented in white vinyl that made the deck and patio colors really pop. Bruce installed deck rails that coordinated with decking colors and the results were incredible. Sitting on the patio or by the fire pit feels very much like staying at a high end resort in a very forested area.
Description of Work: Architected a 2 tier deck with a stamped concrete stone patio to create three tiers of outdoor living space. Included was a fire pit in the patio section. The original deck was preserved as the upper deck and offsetting decking for the second tier. The goal was to create an outdoor living area with a dining area (upper tier on deck), entertainment area (2nd tier on deck) and family room type area with couches and chairs (Patio area). This plan was executed to perfection within budget. The design included creative architecture where outside area and exit area was angled to create very attractive and unique effect. Bruce did an outstanding job at architecting the deck that blended with the backyard tress and landscape.
Great project manger, saw it through completely and at our pace.
Description of Work: Managed drywall and paint subcontractors and carpet installation; and took care of all misc before, during and after our complete basement build-out (woodworking & trim, lighting, plumbing). An all around talent and helped us keep our costs down. I would highly recommend Bruce & company.

Great effort by the owner of the company and I got multiple bids and he was not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. What swayed me towards Norse Construction was the Angie List comments from previous users of his services. The first install did not go well and Bruce J immediately told me that the work had not been done correctly (and he had to actually tell me what was wrong since carpentry is certainly not my expertise). He stated that he would have someone come out over the next day or so and "make it right". The next morning, the workers showed up and re-did a good portion of the job. There was an amazing transformation to a look of perfection. The wife and I are very pleased with the end result....the stairs look great and feel very steady and safe. I would not hesitate to use Norse Construction again in the future. And, once again, Angie's List provided me the information I needed to narrow the vendor field and use their rating system to help me make a good choice on the vendor I used.
Description of Work: Replaced a set of rotted stairs that lead from my kitchen to a concrete patio. The stairs were originally three steps and I had Norse Construction make them 4 steps to was the steepness. Construction was treated lumber and cedar and included a railing on one side of the steps.

The experience was one that was not only great overall, but up front and honest. After using roughly 6 different companies to get our home remodeled, it feels great to know we've finally found a company that cares about our home as much as we do!
Description of Work: We had a bathroom completely gutted out and remodeled. We also had a room that we wanted to turn into an entertainment room. The bathroom is more than we asked for, and the entertainment room is amazing. The carpentry work for our custom made entertainment center is my husband's pride and joy. I never imagined it would look just like Norse said it would. We've dealt with a lot of contractors over the years, the work and professionalism of all the contractors will ONLY allow us to use Norse for our needs. We received estimates for other updates in a timely manner, we look forward to working with you again in the near future. We can't say thank you enough!
This last effort went beyond my expectations. The work was done faster that I expected, and the workmanship was A+. I was concerned with the difficulty of leveling out concrete columns during the pour. At several thousand lbs per column, it would be impossible to correct any out of plumb conditions. He was careful to plum and secure each column before pouring, then checked for plumb after the poor. All were perfect. I will be doing additional work in the near future to replace the beams on the upper deck in order to repair poor workmanship from a contractor 10 years ago. This is the 4th large project Norse has done for me. The largest project was building out a laundry room on the lower level. That effort involved tearing down walls, building new walls, installing doors, flooring and installing new plumbing for the washer, dryer and new sink. The new laundry room measures 9 X 12, great lighting and a long folding table. My wife and I are happy campers. I was also impressed that he cleaned up each evening before he left to minimize dust and debris from the work area.
Description of Work: I asked Norse Construction to assist with major deck repairs. The work involved building temporary supports for a three-level deck, installing temporary piers, pouring new concrete footings and piers. After the concrete was cured, they installed new posts and beams to support the deck.

Bruce came over and discussed our full project with us. From the moment he walked in the door, we felt comfortable having him in our home. He was on time and prepared to take pictures and notes. We planned to do as much as possible ourselves but wanted his input on the full project. We ended up deciding for him to do the insulation, drywall, taping, and mudding. With his input, we were able to successfully have the rooms gutted and prepped for him when he came in. He helped coach us on tips for many different things and rules that we needed to follow. When we got to the point where we were ready for him and his crew to come in, it was within the week that he was here. Every day they were on time or early to start, he provided an update, and made sure we were happy with there work. Any questions we had along the way, they were all very helpful with. Bruce truly loves what he does and enjoys helping others. It was such a joy to work with him and we will definitely reach out to him when we decide to tackle another project. Thanks so much for your help Bruce!!!
Description of Work: Insulated, drywalled, taped, mudded ceilings and walls of our sunroom and kitchen. Also reframed the pantry door.

The home we purchased just over 2 months ago had an unfinished basement that we saw great potential in. The master bathroom also had a leak behind the wall. Bruce came in and talked to us in great length about what exactly we were looking for. We talked about what parts of the project we could do ourselves to save money and what we thought a professional should do, and he worked with our timeline of when we were able to get things done. The leak was repaired in the bathroom, as well as we had a new vanity and toilet installed and painting done. The basement was the big job! We had lighting installed, framing and drywall done, new windows installed, new carpet, and a new hot water heater along the way (that one was a surprise). Bruce even helped us install new appliances when they arrived for our kitchen. No matter what came up Bruce and his crew were there to help! The project is finished and we are enjoying that wonderful space we saw potential in. It also makes us feel proud that we were able to put hard work into some of it ourselves. We will definitely call Bruce in the future for any projects, great or small!
Description of Work: Repaired a leak behind the master bathroom wall and refinished part of the bathroom and finished our basement and spare bedroom.
It went excellent from start to finish. I could not ask for a better contractor.
Description of Work: The provider finished our basement and sun-room which required lifting up the deck due to extreme settling. All electrical work was done right and everything very professional!

Bruce did a great job! He had excellent communication skills and showed up when promised. He had to do some extra framing to size my 100 year old doors down to standard door size, and the work is just beautiful. He paid close attention to the rest of the doors in the house and was able to duplicate the look. Once we do the finishing work (not part of the contract, I generally do my own painting), it will look absolutely original. It's obvious that Bruce takes a great deal of pride in his work and I look forward to working with him again.

I felt Bruce was very attentive, detailed and proactive. He communicated every step, he was patient with my questions and consistent and professional. The worker (Jason I think) was also very good at what he did. He was respectful of my time and my home. The work was exemplary. I am so happy with the finished project, smooth, clean, paint matched, very finished looking. I simply couldn't have asked for more.
Description of Work: Norse Construction did some spot repairs on my very high ceilings. Some of the tape and the seams of the drywall were damaged. Bruce and his worker were very thorough and repaired four spots as planned. We discovered another spot while they were in the middle of the project and we were able to quickly add it to the project and negotiate an additional price.

I LOVED working with Bruce. It's a standing joke around my house that I'm so picky I always hate the contractor by the end of the job, but I'm super happy with the job that Bruce did!!! I picked him from the various bids we had because his bid was extremely detailed. He had included everything from what he was going to to protect my house to how he was going to dispose of the debris. I really had a warm and fuzzy that not only did he know what he was doing, but that there were going to be no surprises during the job. His communication was excellent -- he's the only contractor that I've worked with that always emailed / showed up exactly when he said he would! The quality of work was top-notch, meeting my "picky" standards with no problems. When the electrical work that we were going to do ourselves proved beyond our skills he arranged for an electrician to come do the work and even met with them the morning of just to make sure they knew exactly what we needed. He also re-arranged his schedule to accommodate that and still get the job done by my requested end date. I would highly recommend Bruce and look forward to working with him on future projects.

I hired Norse Construction after a previous contractor quit the contract unexpectedly with less than a quarter of the job done. At the time, I was in a bind, I basically had a giant hole in my floor :( and I interviewed almost a dozen contractors before I found Norse Construction. Bruce (contractor at norse construction) was knowledgeable and professional and (most importantly) able to finish the project at short notice and at a reasonable price. The new stairs, doors and bathroom look great and I'm happy I hired Norse construction! One other thing, My work schedule would frequently prevent me from being present during the construction phases, but the contractor sent me text message photos of the job as parts were completed, a very nice touch !
Description of Work: Installed stairs to basement, put up handrail to stairs, installed pocket door to basement, did some tear out of previous materials and plumbing, framed walls to basement and new bathroom, did all drywalling, mudding and taping. Of new walls, did plumbing for new bathroom, installed wet seal door and trim for wetroom/bathroom
