Scott promptly returned my phone-call & also corresponded with me via e-mail before his scheduled appointment. He arrived on-time and graciously spent over 3 hours to provide several critical computer services which included: confirming the failing hard-drive diagnosis, backing-up all of our hard-drive data, transferring all that data to our new computer, setting up our new computer & monitor, organizing all of our scattered data into appropriate folders (documents, photos, videos) & cleaning up unnecessary icon short-cuts that were crowding my start-up screen.  He also installed software that I had purchased & then made sure that our printer was set-up with our new computer and that everything was working properly.  He is very knowledgeable and communicates the computer lingo into understandable lay-men language.  He explained how to continue to back-up our data onto the portable hard-drive which he volunteered to purchase for us ~ that was extremely thoughtful of him, because losing all of our computer-stored data was a great worry to us but now, thanks to Scott, we are protected.  We highly recommend him for his expertise, honesty, reliability and great personality. He is a true treasure and at this holiday time of year, he brought joy to our world!

I called Scott the morning of the 15th.  He said would be there by 4PM.  Was on time and quickly was able to restore my computer's corrupted AOL software.  Scott is pleasant to work with.  And it extremely knowledgeable and reasonable.

I had lost the ability to access my e-mail at all. I called ATT because they are my provider.  They couldn't do anything because my e-mail was actually with Yahoo. The man at ATT did give me a good piece of advice and that was when I called Yahoo I should not give out my credit  card number but he would not explain why.  I found out why when I called Yahoo. After an hour of talking to an outsourced person he told me I had been hacked, he could fix it and it would cost me $400. I said I would think about it and get back with him if I wanted him to do the job. He called my home four or five times trying to get me to let him do the work.  I had already decided to work with someone locally and chose Compusmile. I called Scott, we set a date, he had to cancel but he called and let me know of the change. He fixed my e-mail, got me a new e-mail address, fixed other things on my computer and my husband's computer. He is such a pleasant person to work with and so knowledgeable about computers. If or I should say when I have problems again I will definitely call him.

Scott is just wonderful to work with.  He picked up my computer and let me know what was wrong with it.  He gave me and estimate and stuck within the quote he provided.  He also let me know when the computer would be ready.  He was prompt and everything went smoothly.  He also returned all the old hardware that was not working.  
The computer was covered under an extended warranty and works great like it's new again.  When I spoke with the warranty company who asked about all the work I was having done, they said that $400 was extremely reasonable and is way less than what a larger commercial company would charge.

Everything went fine. I talked to Scott several times before his visit to discuss myself and my sister's needs. Since my sister was not confident that she would know the right questions to ask him if she met with him alone and I also needed my laptop looked at, we asked Scott if he could see us at the same time. He agreed. He figured out what was going on with my laptop, he then backed up my files and proceeded to correct the issue while simultaneously assessing my sister's laptop. Within an hour, he had fixed my connectivity issue, assessed my sister's old computer, and provided her with two suggestions for a new laptop. All in all, I am extremely happy with his service and happy to say that I am writing this review from my laptop!
Now, let's discuss the price. Best Buy quoted me $200 and Toshiba quoted me $100 (but they would actually be talking me through the repairs and not actually fixing it themselves), and Scott charged me less than both of them ($88 for the hour-$10 Angie's list coupon+$20 for the flash drive=$78). Thanks Scott!!

Scott and I exchanged several messages to set up the time for him to come.  He was prompt in returning my calls and he really worked with me around scheduling which I greatly appreciated.  He arrived promptly at the appointed time.  He worked for a little over two hours explaining to me everything he was doing.  He was very respectful of my outdated desire to continue to use AOL and helped me fix all the issues I was having.  He was thorough and worked efficiently.  I am sure the time will come when I have more computer issues and I will call him again.

My laptop was a mess. I was not able to use it at all. Our fairly new desktop had a few issues. Scott spent several hours at our house cleaning everything up and giving us some tips. He was very patient, knowledgable, professional, and polite. I would highly recommend him.

Please see above.   Scott stayed for six hours, ensuring that we had a fully operating computer system.  Cannot say enought good things about Scott, his ability and his integrity.
Once he determined that our Desktop computer was beyong saving, he asked me to write a check for less money, since we weren't using the power source he brought in for that computer.  Although he worked on task for six hours, Scott didn't charge for what he termed "nonproductive time."

I think he did a great job. He stayed quite a while, making sure my computer purged the unnecessary files. He took the time to explain what had happened and how he was fixing it. Very happy with his service. Would use him again. (I can't remember the date of service, so this may not be accurate.)

I left a voice message first thing in the morning and Scott called back within 30 minutes.  After I summarized the situation, he offered to come that same afternoon.  He spent 2.5 hours at my home, working straight through, leaving at 7:15pm.   He explained what he was doing as he did it.   He was very personable and professional, and flexible regarding scheduling.  I appreciate that he admitted he couldn't explain what caused the problem, and that he showed me what to do should it occur again.  His rates were reasonable and worth every penny.  I won't hesitate to call him again.

Scott came and got right to work--at first like a car taken to the mechanic the error messages would not pop up.  However in a bit it started to act up again.  Scott went to the ATT website and upgraded my email programs, upgraded the safety protocols and then slowly and precisely got one program up at at time until once again all three were working.  What a headache it was for me but no problem for Scott.  Saved my from pulling my hair out.  Scott was considerate, through and fixed the problem.  And now my programs work better than they ever have.   Sweet!

He made a house call back in March this year and I liked that because I don’t have to bring the computer somewhere. He did well. He cleaned up my hard drive and had all my files copied from my old computer to my current computer. He planned to recycle my old computer so minus the worry of hauling it somewhere. I still have the old hard drive, I won’t have to  worry about my old files. He is responsive, got back to me quickly.

I am an amateur in computers with tons of photos that I had hoped to be able to enjoy and share via computer software. That did not happen. There were four such software programs on the pc at least. I had not understood how the folders worked on pc and had created a monster. From time to time I would attempt to start over and organize, but after 7 years of failed effort and the addition of more photos, it became unsalvageable. I was finding web pages, pop up ads and all sorts of bizarre things in the photo software with my pictures, still do not know how they got there. I couldn't figure out the 'virtual photo' concept, so I was afraid to delele anything for fear of losing a grandchild's picture.  We have needed professional help but have been afraid to hire for all the horror stories by dishonest techs.
 In Angie's List magazine last November I found an ad for CompuSmile and decided to look it up. The plenary reports were terrific, and there were alot of them. I noticed that the owner always responded to a member's report.  I was impressed at the tone and content on the CompuSmile website, and in particular felt good about the owner's qualifications and experience. So, finally, Scott Quinby, CompuSmile came yesterday 3/26/13 at 10a.m. He left at 8p.m. The man didn't stop for lunch, he hardly came up for air. I had a three page list of issues &/or questions. He listened and quickly knew where to begin. My computer had been doing some strange things for some time, it was slow,  application hangs.  The first two tests Scott ran revealed  no malware. He was still suspicious and ran a third test - there it was. I can't explain in detail how or what he did, only that he didn't accept the first or second tests 'good news' as good enough. He took the additional measures because of a suspicion that proved right. That was fixed.  He did a full system check, took off critical, but too old programs and reinstalled them. He removed items we did not need, recommended better replacement programs that were free in a couple of instances. He cleaned out an old external hard drive we had and set it up for use with photo saving. It just seemed as though Scott  was checking it out as though it were his own.   All through the day I was asking questions, interrupting him...He kept saying he didn't mind and stayed on task while we talked. Scott is soft-spoken, polite, courteous,  intuitive, and patient. The bulk of the time spent was  locating and merging the photos into one place. THOUSANDS!  I don't know anyone who would have been so pleasant and patient for so many hours at  such a mundane task.
 After deleting tons and tons of garbage, finding another ton of photos/videos/scans gone wild, Scott installed a photo & edit  program he recommended might be more intuitive for me.  Before he left every photo was in a functionally organized & understandable filing system. He made sure that the external hard drive was operating properly. And then turned the back-up software on.  Ten hours after he arrived we happily wrote CompuSmile a check!And we will call Scott for our computer needs.Ten hours after he arrived we happily wrote CompuSmile a check!  We need another appointment soon for tutorial help. Scott has terrific communication skills, we found him to be extremely cooperative, responsive, a good listener, able to teach and willing to serve.  He says he loves what he does, it shows. Scott. Thank you.

Called for service and Scott was here the next day to check the computer and gave us a lot of information regarding the problem.  He told us our monitor was bad and we purchased a new one and everything worked as he had said it would.
He was great to work with and we would call him again for any problem we would have in the future.
