Scott installed my home office system a couple of years and it has been humming since. A couple of days ago, chrome started running very slowly, it was hung doing a "host lookup" and would take over 30 seconds to load a page. I called Scott, he quickly was able to remote in and resolved the issue in 15 minutes.

Hired Scott for a couple hours to complete a punch list of computer services, one of which was to recover data from a dead hard drive. He helped review some WiFi settings to better streamline access to a single printer by all our devices and walked me through a signal check on each level of our house to ensure we were setup efficiently for streaming and game playing by everyone in the household. Lastly, he helped configure a few items on our new laptop that we wanted, but didn't know how to do. All-in-all, he was professional and delivered results in a short, efficiently managed timeline. We will hire him again, should the technical need arise.

Scott was fantastic and I can't imagine having a better experience with what can be a stressful situation. My computer failed with what turned out to be both a Windows and hard drive failure. Scott was very responsive from the beginning - replying to me on a Sunday which was a day off for him. He helped me decide what to buy that was best for my needs, and accompanied me to the store to buy it. The setup and all software installations went perfectly. Scott was very receptive to replacing programs and preferences that I had previously and wanted to continue with. He recommended a few improvements such as a video player that I needed for a certain format. His attitude was exceedingly positive upon encountering a difficulty - which turned out to be with my internet connection - and he trouble-shooted for an effective fix. He encouraged me to upgrade my 13-year-old DSL with my telecom provider, which turned out to be a very good move that I would not have done (at this time) without his expert coaching. Scott was also very accessible and responsive after the installation with some questions I had - although there weren't very many, thanks to the excellent and thorough job he did while at my home. Don't waste your time shopping around. CompuSmile is the best.

Scott arrived at the scheduled time and quickly identified the problem and fixed it. He also cleaned the computer of unused or unwanted files and upgraded the operating system. He worked on my other two computers fixing their misc. issues. I was very pleased with his services and recommended him to a friend. He was here about an hour and a half, right on time and everything went well. The cost was $149.00.

Unfortunately, I had recently completed a major reorganization and edit of data on my hard drive, which I had yet to back up. The Dell desktop was still under warranty so I had three discussions with Dell techs in India. The upshot was no hardware help would be available on my warranty until a reinstall of Windows was attempted. And all my data would be lost in the reinstall. I balked. I tried a reset with data save on my own, but it did not work. After checking Angie's List, I chose CompuSmile based upon reviews and I contacted Scott. On the phone, he took the time to ask appropriate questions and learn what I had done to try to address the problem. He offered a possible solution that he thought had a good chance of retrieving my data, and I thought his idea was a good one. He was able to come to my home the next day. After arriving and disconnecting my hard drive, Scott installed a second hard drive, a solid state drive, and downloaded Windows 10 on the fresh drive. After reconnecting my original drive and setting the computer up to use two hard drives, one for the operating system and apps and the other for data, we were able to easily access all my data. This saved me a huge amount of time in redoing the reorganization and editing of files I had done before the crash. It also saved me much time with iTunes. While I have an external drive with my music files on it, migrating those into iTunes can be an annoying and time-consuming task. Since they were already on the old drive, iTunes was able to access them without a problem. While Scott was at my home and various downloads were happening during the fix, he was able to troubleshoot and solve several other much smaller but vexing problems on two other computers in our home. I was also very happy with the two-drive solution. Now my operating system and apps are on C drive and my data is on D drive. Also, my operating system is backed up on D drive, which offers another layer of protection against a future occurrence of the issue I had. My husband and I were very, very happen with his skill, his efficiency, his professionalism and his ability to discuss and explain what he was doing in accessible language. He's a great communicator. We are lucky to have found him and we will certainly use him as computer problems arise in the future. We won't hesitate to recommend him when friends face problems with their technology. Also, his prices were very fair in comparison to others in the market.

Scott accessed my computer remotely, found the problem immediately and fixed it. While the fix was running in the background, he used the time to clean up some stuff that was just taking up space on my hard drive with no real purpose. Diagnosed and done within 20 minutes. Great guy. Use him, you won't be sorry.

The recommended step got me moving in the correct direction. While it didn't solve the final issue (another IT advisor from my place of employment stepped in to help as well), it helped me move forward. I was thankful for the prompt reply and non-sales advisory role they took. If the steps would not have resolved the issue, I would not have hesitated in engaging CompuSmile for hire based on their honest approach to helping me out...prior to a sale. That's customer service!

I have used Scott twice before. Had a problem getting my computer to restart so I called him. Scott called me back and worked me through the process. This was still a no go and so he had me disconnect everything but the monitor and keyboard and had me try again. This time it was successful. Turns out the problem was an external USB hub port that was going bad. Scott was able to do this via phone in a quick manner. I do not have any hesitation in recommending CompuSmile and Scott for computer service issues.

After I purchased the new computer, Scott came over and transferred everything over from my old laptop to my new computer. He then configured a shared file service called drop box on my computer and my wife's laptop and our smart phones. We can now seamlessly share files and pictures across all of our devices. My new desktop rocks and is super fast. Scott also configured affordable security software for peace of mind. He did all this in 1 day! Honestly, this is absurd. When this member called me, I told her I was booked, and I kindly referred her to a colleague of mine--also highly-reviewed on Angie's List, with an A rating--to help her out. After he spent several hours with her (and graciously charged her for only half the time he spent; though she gave him a D anyway) she called me again, insisting that I "finish what he had left undone", and to do so for free, since I had referred him. I think this member needs to re-evaluate her expectations. To rate me a "D" for referring her to someone else--and to then have the nerve to demand that I provide her free services afterwards--is entirely unjust.

I would say the service I received was exceptional! Scott arrived on time, was polite and professional. He ran several applications to determine what was causing the problem, we never did find out exactly what it was. However, he did get my PC up and running and have had NO issues since. It has been several weeks since his home visit. I highly recommend Scott's service and truly appreciate the home service! I feel his fees are competitive and reasonable. We have used Scott for the past two or three years. He is the most knowledgeable computer professional we have ever known. He very patient n explaining the features he is working with and does a great job in performing it. We think very highly of Scott and would not use any other computer person.

I made initial contact by phone and explained issue and noted that I found on Angie's list. We set--up appt. for later and he said he would confirm. He did and arrived at time agreed. We worked together on the issues so that I knew what was being done to address issues and why. He guided me through software that I did not know and answered my questions. He asked me questions about how I used different software and then helped me see alternatives that were easier or cheaper than my approaches. He made sure I knew he would be available for questions or problems in the future and how we might work together on on-going basis. I intend to use the services at least yearly for review and "tune-up." In the event of a major problem, I now have what I consider a reliable and knowledgeable resource for help and guidance. I know that even small issues can be addressed also. I would use this service provider again and I would recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: He reviewed in detail actions that I had taken to address a major problem with e-mail account hacked. Then he made suggestions for what else could be done and he walked through these and installed additional software. He advised additional steps to safeguard in the future. He showed me how to do these on regular basis. With that primary issue addressed he walked through back-up and how it might be done and installed. He addressed a new PC that needed software installed. He worked with Settings to get me what I wanted to do my work. He made sure I knew all changes made, software installed, and my next actions.

It went very well. He answered some stupid questions I had in terms that I could understand. I thought the cost was reasonable considering all the work he did and the amount of time he devoted to the tasks he did. I would recommend Scott for the beginner as well as someone who knows computers but wants to make absolutely sure that the job is done right.
Description of Work: He came out to set up my new PC. I needed files from my current PC which had died moved to the new one. He was able to get EVERYTHING that I wanted done!!! He gave me a lesson on using Windows 10 which was new to me. He moved everything from the desktop on the old one onto the new one and removed the hard drive from the old one so it could make sure that it was disposed of properly by me.

Contacted Scott in the morning by leaving a voice mail message. He returned my call after only a short delay. Set up appointment for that afternoon. At about 1130 he called and said he completed his early appointment. and asked if he could come to my house for diagnosis of my problems. He was very thorough, looking at the error message I was receiving and explaining the best way to fix the problem. He ensured existing program data was saved, replace the hard drive, loaded a clean version of windows, and reinstalled the the critical programs with the copied data. He verified all the new programs worked and the data was correct. During the entire process he Scott described what he was doing in a manner I could understand. His prompt attention to my problem saved me from losing all data if the hard drive would have failed completely.
