Scott arrived on time and took exactly one hour to fix everything. Very pleasant young man who has a degree from Washington University, in computers. I would ask him back again. The amount charged was $10 off his normal hourly charge because I am a member of Angie's List. First time customers get this discount.
Description of Work: My computer was acting up and giving me a window that I didn't understand and couldn't get rid of. Other minor things were needing tweaking. Also my printer was not functioning correctly.

Scott appeared on time and immediately went to work. I was told by another that my computer had viruses and that is why it was so slow. Scott immediately determined that my computer was not the problem and worked with me to isolate the cable problem so the cable repair person would know what was wrong. Scott is very pleasant and professional.

It went very well. We were really pleased.
Description of Work: Scott came to our home and helped us restore Internet service which was blocked due to too many competing programs. He also restored wireless capability to my laptop and he helped my son get set up to download music. These may seem like simple tasks to some, but ones for which we're not naturally inclined and didn't have time to figure out ourselves. He was prompt, courteous, and discussed our system and steps he took to correct the problems in understandable terms. It was such a relief to have these problems fixed. He was well worth the money spent.

Scott was on time, easy to work with, made good suggestions and answered all my questions professionally and on non-techy level. The wireless printer server was a challenge, but Scott was up front with the possibility that it might take extra time with the possibility of it not working even after that. I appreciated the honesty and the choice to go forward. While it did take some extra effort, Scott was able to make it work.
Description of Work: Gave Scott a list of tasks for computer ranging from moving files from one computer to help with wireless connection and print server.

He was very professional and very knowledgeable about computers. I had not given a very good description of the processes I needed help with. He willingly stayed twice as long as he anticipated in order to set up everything.
Description of Work: Installed new software, modem for high speed internet, and additional RAM; backed up all data; reinstalled all previous programs; and downloaded security updates. Basically, he rebuilt my computer.

Scott is very pleasant and knowledgeable. He is professional and arrived on time. His work was good and the networking seems to be stable. I think I should have asked for an estimate of time and cost prior to services as compared with other services it seemed to take longer and cost a bit more.

Scott did an excellent job. He was running about ten minutes late, and called me on my cell phone prior to the appointment time to let me know he would be a little late. He had estimated that the job would take two hours to complete, but was able to finish in one and a half hours. I appreciated the fact that he did not try to stretch the job to the two full hours. He also mentioned the $10 discount for Angie's customers (I had forgotten all about it,) so I was able to save a little bit on the total cost. Overall, an excellent experience!
Description of Work: We got a blue screen / fatal error message on our computer, and were not able to log on the computer at that point. Apparently our registry was either missing a file or was corrupted. Bottom line, our computer was unusable. I called Scott Quinby at Compusmile on Thursday, 9/28 and he came out today 10/2 and restored our computer back to working order.

Scott was not sure if changing the settings would fix the connectivity problems, but he said it was the first step and if it worked, I would have saved the money of a new NIC card, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem so we will be on to the next step, a new NIC card. Scott was very pleasant. He was prompt and very professional. As my knowledge of computers is a bit challenged he did not make me feel stupid when I asked all my questions. I will call him again and I will recommend him to my friends.
Description of Work: Having problems with my computer not staying connected to the Internet and an external hard drive malfunction. Scott changed some settings on my computer and fixed the problem with my external hard drive.

This was a process I had been dreading, as I know very little about computers. I'd put up with a very difficult system for the last two yrs (it was almost 6 yrs old) because I didn't know where to start or who to call. I found Scott on Angie's List, and due to his excellent reviews by numerous customers I called him first. Best call I ever made! He made this very easy for me. I cannot say enough about his outstanding computer knowledge, and his selection of one that was exactly right for my needs. He is patient, knowledgeable, easy to talk with, extremely trustworthy and professional, yet also has a great sense of humor! I wish I'd called him a long time ago! He will be my computer repair person from now on. The above price includes all of his time, as well as my complete new computer setup. I feel sure I couldn't have done as well with anyone else. The peace of mind alone which he provided me is worth every penny. He made the whole experience fun and rewarding.
Description of Work: I contacted CompuSmile when my old computer became unusable. He asked questions and ascertained exactly how I use a computer and suggested it would be better and less expensive overall to purchase a new system, rather than try to fix the numerous problems the old one had. I agreed. He found a great system for me, without the numerous capabilities that I never used on my old one. He discussed it with me, and ordered it for me, brought and installed it within 10 days. At his suggestion, I decided to try a high speed modem setup, so he ordered that online for me while he was here, then came and installed it after I received it. I now have a new, clutter-free, fast system, with a flat screen monitor (which I love). It's free of the many extraneous programs I'd never used on the old one. Scott was able to re-install my old printer and scanner to the new PC, at my request. He then erased my old hard drive, and took the old PC and tower to be recycled for me.

I was very pleased with Scott and will definitely call him for any future computer needs. He was pleasant, polite, professional and expert at his work.
Description of Work: Added a hard drive to my daughter's computer to give her more room for her music downloads. Enabled her computer to print to the main computer, eliminating the need to buy a second printer (Scott's suggestion). "Cleaned up" both computers, so they run more efficiently. Scott was so wonderful. Very professional, friendly, helpful and efficient. He is very competitively priced and very pleasant to talk with. He did not ever make me feel like it was a computer dummy, and explained what to do, and what not to do in order to keep the computer running.
Description of Work: Scott removed a program from my daughters computer, that was prohibiting it from running efficiently, and recommended, help purchase and installed spyware software, then completely cleaned up the computer, so that it runs perfectly now.

I don't know how I'd get along without Scott's knowledge and assistance when it comes to clearing up problems with my computer(s). He is knowledgeable, thorough, and explains everything to me (I'm a sponge for learning all I can about the equipment.) He told me he is happy to have people ask questions, or to leave him alone --whatever the client wants. He is always on time, polite and professional, and his price is about 60% of what my sister pays to a nationwide computer guru firm, and from what she tells me the service Scott gives is much better than she gets. Finally, he knows what I need in a computer and is able to make recommendations to purchase new equipment that won't exceed my needs and therefore, keeps the price as low as possible. He is very budget conscious on my behalf. I recommend him and his company without reservation.
Description of Work: Scott rescued me again, after the storms fried my external hard drive and damaged my main computer. He repaired the computer as best he could so it was at least functional, then he recommended a new external hard drive with back up software, and helped us order a new laptop and accessories, then he returned to install the router and make sure everything was working okay. The $ above represent his first visit, and then he returned for a second, follow up visit after the products arrived. Best of all, he comes to my home, so I don't have to dismantle the whole system and take it to a shop, with all the inconvenience that involves, plus a shop's technicians can't possibly see how it's set up when it's at my home.

Scott stopped by my house and picked up my laptop and returned the next day (less than 20 hours later). He gave me two CD's containing my data. He used Department of Defense technology to delete the file on the hard drive and then reformated it. He was very helpful and friendly. I would absolutely use him again. I even got a $10 Angie's List discount.
Description of Work: I had a company laptop that I had to return. Unfortunately, it had a hardware failure before I could get my data off the hard drive. I wanted Scott to do two things. 1) Write the data in the ''My Documents'' folder to a CD. 2) Wipe the drive clean and reformate it. I didn't want to leave any personal data on the drive when I FedEx'ed it back to my employer.

He was great, prompt, articulate, polite, and professional. He did not talk down to me because I didn't know computers. He also printed out page of instructions so if it happens again I will know.
Description of Work: He cleaned up the desktop on my computer. He reconnected it to the Internet. He installed a software, printer, and router.

Scott is very knowledgeable and patient. I like that he was resourceful enough to find me a good deal on new computers via Dell, since I work full time and don't have the time or know-how to pick something appropriate out. He explains things very well and doesn't use terminology that is too techie!
Description of Work: Wireless card installation/troubleshooting; assisted w/purchase of new desktop for child and laptop for home/family and found good discounts via Dell; complete setup and installation for both new computers.

Excellent! Scott was patient and knowledgeable. Low pressure and wonderful service.

I found him to be very professional and patient, pleased to be there, and very personable. He did not use jargon or assume any expertise or experience on my part. I will definitely be calling on him again soon with other questions that have arisen since his visit.

Scott called me very soon after I left him a message. He was able to come over to my house the very next day. He not only replaced our CD drive but also took care of our two error messages within the same hour. He was very professional and very nice. I will refer him to all I know who could use his service.
Description of Work: Our computer CD drive was not closing. We also had a few error messages that appeared ever time we started our computer.
