Description of Work: Received fast quote but asked to see him in person. I added several other requests which he said okay but never wrote down. Of course he forgot them by the time work was finished. You must put every detail in writing and have him sign off. When washing the back porch they flooded my kitchen, painted over all electrical outlets. They want to spray everything the same color. One worker was rude and vulgar. It will now cost me another $500.00 to get what I believed I was getting to begin with. Was expensive and frustrating experience...Felt he talked down to me on several occasions.

Description of Work: Kevin painted the entire exterior of the house and did significant carpentry work including replacing an old window left over from a bathroom remodel, replacing several broken shingles, replacing wood in back patio that was completely rotten as well as the soffit. He also installed a new front door for me. Painting was $2000, the rest of the price was for the carpentry work which was done with excellence.

Description of Work: lWe called Kevin to get an estimate for painting the exterior of our house. He gave us an estimate and told us when he thought he could do the work. We got a second estimate with a similar price, but with a much later completion date. We had painted the house ourselves previously and wanted to find someone who would do as thorough a job. Kevin's plan from start to finish sounded good: power washing and scraping, priming if needed, then spraying the finish coat and rolling or brushing it in.

Description of Work: We needed our 6 year old home painted for the first time since it was new so we did our homework, obtained bids from 5 different local exterior paint companies, contractors, individuals, etc. and chose Kevin Turner based on several recommendations as well as price. We were not disappointed in the quality of work and the attention to detail. Kevin and his crew raise the bar for perfection. There were several unexpected bonuses. 1) The day prior to the crew to be on-site, my husband and I decided to remove the 4 shutters on the front of the home, obtain a custom paint color from Sherwin Williams to match the glass storm door on the front of the home and paint one coat of paint on the shutters to determine if we were going to use it as an accent color. The next morning, Kevin saw our feeble attempt at the accent color and immediately said he thought it would be a great color match and said he would take care of it. Knowing we were not the experts to make the shutters look professional, Kevin took the time to obtain the appropriate amount of custom color to do what was needed to handle the job we started with the shutters. As it turned out, the accent shutter color also became the front door color at Kevin's recommendation. The result was fabulous and we didn't have to do the work. 2) Upon arriving at our home, Kevin provided me a time elapsed video of another home he and his crew had completed and said he would provide the same thing for us. The video was phenomenal (check out his website for examples at www.kturnerpainting.com) and again, we're so pleased to have received a professional video of the before, work in progress and completed product at every angle. 3) Our assumption was that the paint job would probably take a few days (at a minimum) to complete. However, with a very thorough spray--roll--spray technique, the entire home was completed in just one day. Totally unexpected. 4) Kevin returned within a couple days to hand deliver the video and to ensure everything was to the high standard that he sets. In addition to the added bonuses mentioned above, the crew was very nice, sociable and experienced based on my inquiries for how long they had been in the business and working with Kevin. Several of our neighbors stopped by to congratulate us on such a nice looking job. A couple of them even indicated the result was "rich" looking. After a few days, I agree that the new color and professional job makes the home look like dessert. Very creamy looking and something I would do all over again in a New York minute. Thank you Kevin and crew for a job well done. The least we can do is to provide this raving review for you and your "A" team!!!

Description of Work: We have a large home that was built about 60 years ago. We were a few years late in getting the home re-painted and had quite a bit of wood rot both around the windows and in the siding. We have lots of windows and quite a few doors in the house. Kevin and his carpenter did a great job of repairing all the wood rot in advance of the painting crew coming in. Kevin was responsive from the start. He returned phone calls, came when promised, and provided a detailed estimate. He provided some great advice based on his many years in the business. His crew showed up when scheduled, did a very thorough job, and always cleaned up at the end of the day. They were very precise in every step-- from wood rot repair, to power washing the house, removoing the storms and cleaning them, repairing window glazing, and painting lots of detailed trim with great precision. They did a nice job of caulking, repairing downspouts, and event painted our light poles and replaced the glass. He had a detailed 'system' his crew followed, and kept me informed as his crew completed each step. A few weeks after they completed the work, we had the home appriased as part of re-financing at a lower rate. The appraisal came in about 20,000 higher than expected. The appraiser commented about how great the house looked as he took his pictures. Our neighbors and friends have all commented about how good the house looks. We'bre been here 20 years and the house looks better than it did in 1991. You will be happy with the results if you select Kevin and his crew. They deliver terrific results.

Description of Work: I contacted Mr. Turner in August 2011 to get my house painted. I had seen his advertisement in the Angie's list magazine. Two things that caught my eye was that he offered a coupon to Angie's list participants as well as a five- year warranty against peeling. I had my house painted years before, at the time I thought 10 years, later I found out it was about 15 years. The house is board and batten and had extensive peeling on it's exterior as well as several places where the board and batten had rotted through. The front of the house had the most visible rot and peeling, and the original garage doors were peeling all over. I had gotten to the point where I was ashamed of it and I knew I had to do something before the bad weather set in. I had received some other quotes for painting, the lowest was around $3,600 from an all-around contractor who was the first choice on my list; however, something didn't set right with me about him. Because of the the lower cost it was tempting to go with him, but I had a nagging feeling of not being able to trust him, which was another reason I decided to call Mr. Turner. When Mr. Turner came to give his quote he was prompt and professional. He also seemed very knowledgeable and took the time to go over everything with me, rot issues, wood issues, etc. and how they would be addressed. Even when I pointed out the extensive peeling issues and my concerns, he took the time to talk about it. I also explained to him that I was a perfectionist and not easy to deal with, and I expected everything done to my complete satisfaction. He assured me that I would be satisfied and I decided to go with his company. My only concern was that he would not be able to start until after Halloween. We agreed upon the price, he wrote the contract, and he ended up (much to my surprise) contacting me early (the second week of October) and starting right away.

Description of Work: Bid to prime all sheetrock and then paint the ceilings. sprayed and rolled out after. covered all windows or exposed wood and floors. added closets the next day as I forgot to get into the original bid. Job included paint and primer for ceilings and walls that were textured. House size approx 1200 sq' and had some paint left over and primer left over.

Description of Work: My house had extensive wood rot--primarily because the last group that painted didn't do a great job of repairs or painting for protection. I needed to get the house painted this year and then had additional damage from the early April hailstorm that impacted so many of us in Johnson County, KS. The wood rot was repaired, siding replaced in a few spots, and the entire house painted.
