 + 1 moreThe proprietor was completely involved from the sales presentation through final follow-up. They have a showroom where we could see the range of materials, patterns, and colors from which to choose. The contract was very clear, and was transmitted back and forth via e-mail and USPS promptly. Although we were originally scheduled for mid-April, they notified us of an opportunity to move the work up by 3 weeks, which we took. Pricing was clear and appeared quite fair. Workmen appeared precisely on schedule (the job required two half days in order to use the early schedule availability) at 7am, and the proprietor showed up on both days to check in on the work. When they found that a sub-floor piece needed replacement, they worked it in with no problem (at cost). Workmen were very professional and friendly, as were the proprietors. All discounts, including the Angie's List coupon, were applied without hassle. The final work was excellent. They helped us schedule a glass installer that they recommend and usually work with (a different business) at completion of their work. (This company does not do the shower glass enclosure part of the job.)
Description of Work: Renovated shower stall with new base, cultured marble slab sides, and associated plumbing and plumbing fixtures. Design and scope of work were customized to fit our needs. (This company does not do the shower glass enclosure part of the job.)

 + 0 moreChuck Motycka appeared at scheduled time, spent 2 - 3 minutes telling me he could not accomodate my suggestions for bath remodeling and I ushered him out the door. He wasted my time and his. His gruff manor was not appreciated, from the time he entered my house until he quickly left. It was the most unpleasant experience I've had with someone that's been in business for a number of years and was recommended by a friend.

 + -1 moreI was very excited about my appointment with Tile and Bath Service. The lady who took my info and arranged my appointment was super helpful and very nice. I received a letter from the company giving me some background info in preparation for my appointment along with a confirmation. Charles, the owner of the company, came to do my bid. He was about a half hour late, but it was also the day after a crazy snow storm so I figured everyone would be a bit behind that day. When he came to my house he was very polite. He knew the age of my condo and mentioned that there would be some plumbing issues. This was all before he came to my bathroom. He saw my bathroom but didn't take any measurments as he was pretty certain there were going to be some serious plumbing problems behind my walls. Initially I was concerned about a leak in my tub (caused by a crack) but I hadn't experienced any plumbing issues. He mentioned that while they do bathroom remodels, they do not do plumbing and offered to put me in contact with a plumber who could replace any parts if there were indeed issues. I believe he mentioned that the plumber he recommended would also be able to do the rest of the remodel project. With that, he left and I didn't hear from him again. I followed up by calling the plumber who said that yes, they could fix any plumbing problems, but that they contract out their remodel work. I was confused, as if Tile and Bath does bathroom remodeling, wouldn't they contract out a plumber, or have a plumber on staff? I'm not in the business so I really don't know, but it seemed like Charles didn't want my project or that it was something that they were not up to. This was dissapointing as I was really looking forward to hearing what a bathroom expert company would have drawn up for me in plans. I don't think I would work with them again.

 + 3 moreI've worked with a fair amount of contractors on different projects throughout the years, but I have to say that this particular project was the easiest and smoothest by a long shot. I think the main reason is that they just do bathrooms, they don't freelance into kitchens or anything else. They do it very well and have it down to a science. Chuck and Pam were excellent to work with, offered a lot of advice and offered quality products and upgrades. Communication throughout the project was excellent as well. This included coordinating with two other contractors needed to finish the project (bathroom windows and custom shower glass enclosure). Their two man crew showed up daily at 7am like clockwork and worked from the time they arrived until they left. There was no disappearing for hours, showing up late, not showing up at all, etc. These guys are pros at what they do. They are very efficient. Chuck stopped by regularly during the project to check on things. I highly recommend Tile & Bath Service to anyone considering a bathroom remodel. You will not be disappointed.

 + 0 moreHe was very punctual and very professional. He measured everything and gave us a quote. We felt that his quotes were a little on the high side. Although, he gave very good detail. It was like a six-page description of everything he was going to do and he broke everything down: all the material he was going to use, every step that he would use. So, it was very good, but just a little bit higher priced. We took the middle quote. But he gave us his opinion on what he felt would be the right thing to do in our bathroom and gave us some suggestions. He was very helpful. But that was doing the whole bathroom over and we decided not to do that, we were just going to do the tiles and four bathrooms with this other guy.

Description of Work: The cost proposal was 3 times the cost of other proposals and was not a serious proposal. A waste of our time. If he was going to give us such a ridiculous proposal he should have told us he was too busy and didn't want the work.

I received a follow up call afterwards seeking my satisfacation level. I called with a question after installation and they promptly got back with me. The new shower looks great and works great. Very pleased. Would use them again.
Description of Work: Master shower taken down to studs removing old tile, drywall and flooring. New drywall, floor, marble walls, soap dish, fixtures, and glass doors installed. Drain cut, cleaned out and replaced.

I first needed the old tub taken out of the master bath and install a shower so I could use it after my knee surgery. When I recovered they completed the rest of the bathroom and were most helpful in selecting tile, vanity and mirror. I was so happy with the work that I had them design the second bath remodeling. Update August 28,2013 Tile and Bath just completed remodeling my second bath after doing a beautiful job on my master bath. Owners Chuck and Pam were very helpful in designing the baths and Derek and Todd were great to work with. I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend them.

 + -1 moreTodd and Dereck from Tile and Bath Services removed the old counter top (which was made of a quartz composit and therefore very heavy) and hauled it away. They saved for reuse the faucets, drains and lights (which were mounted on the mirrors). We were forwarned that it was possible that the mirror(s) would break in the removal process and one of them did. K & D Countertops delivered and installed he new counter top. Howard from St. Louis Shower Door replaced the broked mirror and reinstalled the other mirror. Todd reinstalled the faucets, drains and lights. The jobsite was cleaned up to our satisfaction by all parties involved. My wife and I are very satisfied with the project. I gave a N/A to the price question above because the other vendors we contacted did not follow thru to the point of giving us an estimated price. Based on the reviews of other Angie's List members I just went with Tile & Bath services.
Description of Work: They had fabricated and installed a new vanity top in the master bathroom. The countertop is a double bowl affair approx. 12 feet long. The old countertop was replaced because one of the bowels separated from the top and fell because it was not properly constructed (it was only glued to the bottom of the countertop). We assumed that it was only a matter of time before the second bowel fell so we decided to replace the counter top. We choose a counter top made of Corian with 2 integrated bowels fabricated by K & D Counter tops. The two large mirrors resting on the original backsplash and gluded to the wall were removed and reinstalled by St. Louis Shower Door. Additionally the caulkinf around the seat and base of the walk-n shower was comming out. Chuck provided me with the name of a handyman who fixed the shower. The original counter top, which was less than 5 years old, was installed by the developer/builder Simon Homes - The Jones Co. - Centrex Homes - Pulte Homes conglomerate, but since the two year warranty has elapsed I was told it was my problem.

 + -1 moreInitial contact was with Pam when calling for appointment for an estimate. Chuck, the owner, arrived on time for the appointment; he was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We had gotten two other estimates but were not comfortable with them. We chose Tile and Bath Service because of the excellent customer service, professionalism, and price. Chuck suggested we visit his store so we could see exactly what we were getting. At the time we visited the store we had already signed the contract. On our visit we selected fixtures and color of cultured marble that was different from those listed on contract. Even though we had signed the contract Pam made changes to the contract as we selected the fixtures we wanted. The changes resulted in a lower contract price. Derek and Todd arrived early on the days of installation. The work was completed in two days. They did an excellent job. We are extremely pleased with the work that was done.
Description of Work: Tore out existing bathtub and fiberglass shower walls. Rebuilt tub/shower area. Installed bathtub, tub/shower faucet and showerhead. Cultured marble was installed on shower walls. Reused existing shower door. Installed new wall insulation, cultured marble sill, grab bar and cultured marble soap/shampoo holder.

 + -1 moreDerrick and Todd pulled out the walls and replaced with greenboard then the cultured marble retaining the 3x5 border tiles. They were ab le to salvage the sliding door. They were very polite and friendly and did a great job in one day. Cleanup was perfect.
Description of Work: hey removed old wall tile from shower and replaced with cultured marble walls, also replaced bathroom sink and backsplash with same cultured marble. The wall behind the old tile was crumbling but we wanted to retain the border tile around the shower.

 + 0 moreWe called on a Friday, the nice asked if we wanted to setup an appointment to come out and take a look. We did, Monday he came out looked at it and by that afternoon had us 3 quotes with options, package a, b, and c. We picked the nicer package. That weekend, we picked out shower doors, and the kind of marble we wanted for our shower walls, fixtures etc.. they have a small store, but very well organized with a good amount of selections. The following week, they had all the materials in and within two days had it all installed. Very nicely done!
Description of Work: Very friendly professional crew came early and got it done in two days. Needed new bath tub, shower walls, fixtures and my toilet needed to be reset. They did a fantastic job and should I need any other bathrooms remodled, they will be first on our list.

 + -1 moreI pretty much covered this topic above. This was my first ever, bathroom remodel. I really did not know what to expect, as I had nothing to really draw from. I probably waiting a litle too long to start the remodel process, but as we all know, life is a learning experience, I did want to say that I reside in a condominium community out in West County -- so anyone that owns a Condo and has a need for a bathroom remodel, they should call Chuck and Pam -- at Tile & Bath Service. In closing, I also want to state that I received only one actual bid, and that it was from Tile & Bath Service, Inc.. I was tracking the ratings on this business on Angie's list -- and everyone that rated the business pretty much gave the business high marks -- and as soon as I met Chuck, and his wife Pam --- I was convinced that I needed to go forward and just get the work done. Even if I would have garnered other bids, and the bids may have come in lower, I'm pretty sure that Tile and Bath Service, Inc. would have received the ultimate nod on the work. This work was completed on Tuesday, September 18th -- so it took me a while to sit down and write this review, Trust me when I say that I have two manilla file folders chock full of good information. I suspect that when I get ready for "Phase 2" -- I will definitely be calling Chuck and Pam.
Description of Work: Chuck came out on a Friday morning, September 7th, to give me an estimate. I sort of had an emergency situation, as I had some real plumbing issues that caused me to come up with a couple of workarounds. In other words, I had no shower capability. Initially, I had intended to do a Full Bath Remodel, but Chuck talked me into a "Phase 1" and most likely a "Phase 2." Chuck wanted to get me up and running, on "Phase 1" -- and "Phase 2" could come at a later date. I did want to mention that Chuck was able to slide me into his work rotation rather quickly, especially due to my circumstances. I could tell that Chuck knew the business right off the bat, as he measured everything, and the estimate was quick and very precise. The next day, Saturday, September 8th, I went to the showroom and picked out and finalized everything, met with Chuck's wife - Pam, and elected to go with a couple of upgrades. Of course, Chuck was there as well, and when I asked him for an opinion on something, he did not hesitate to give me his perspective. On Monday, September 17th, the work commenced at 7:00 A.M. sharp. Derek was the lead guy, and Earl was also involved. There were three options offered to me for "Phase 1", and I opted for all three. OPTION # 1 - The removal of my old builder grade bathtub from second floor hall bathroom and in it's place installing a new white American Standard brand Americast series tub. The old shower walls were also torn out, and replaced with new cultured marble wall panels. I also opted for new Moen fixtures. OPTION # 2 -- the installation of new Basco brand Classic style frameless obscure glass sliding door. OPTION # 3 -- called for my old builder grade commode to be replaced with a Toto brand toilet. The work on Monday, went from about 7:00 A.M. -- till about 2:00 P.M. The next day, Tuesday, September 18th, Derek and Todd were on the job, again at 7:00 A.M. sharp. Most of the work was completed on Monday --- but the finishing touches took place on Tuesday. Derek, Earl and Todd -- all very professional, and all very courteous, and all were very pleasant and very business like.

Description of Work: Master bath replaced all fixtures including towel bar, toilet paper holder, counter top,faucets and completely removed and replaced shower. Hall bath again replaced all faucets and fixtures replaced counter tops . Removed and installed light fixtures in both baths. Entire job took 6days. They cleaned up at the end of each day and arrived early the next morning. Also gave excellent help in selecting fixtures and counter tops. It really helped that they had a show room where you could look at some of the options. . Chuck the owner checked on the progress every day to make sure everything was going to plan

 + 0 moreWhat a great experience remodeling a master bathroom. We used Angie?s List to find a good contractor to remodel our 22 year old bathroom. It was time for a change and we are so glad we did it. We decided on Tile and Bath Services because of all the great reviews. Chuck and Pam, the owners were wonderful to work with. Chuck came out and measured our bathroom and ask what we wanted and kept that in mind when we went to the showroom where Pam helped up pick out our tile, cabinet, fixtures and marble shower stall. And, Chuck?s suggestions for replacing our fan and his experience was invaluable. We went to another remodel showroom in Kirkwood and we were going to be sent to 2 or 3 different locations to pick out our bathroom choices and have handymen come out to do the work which meant we could have 2 or three different people working on the same job. It was nice to be able to do a one stop shopping and have professional installers do a great job. The only thing we had to go get were the lighting fixtures, everything else was in their showroom. We were promised a 6 day job from gutting to completion. Derrick and Todd (two of the nicest people you would want to meet) came in gutted the bathroom in one day. They were very careful and covered the areas they walked in and cleaned up every day. As promised, they showed up at 7 a.m. each day to begin work. They left when there was no more they could do that day since some things had to dry or set up. The sixth day finally came and sure enough they were done and I had a beautiful Spa Master Bathroom. So, a special thanks goes out to Derrick and Todd for doing such a great job and thank you to Earl who helped on Monday. I would give Tile and Bath Services an A++++. Great job.

Description of Work: due to serious design flaws by our home builder 15 years ago, we had major damage to our shower stall in the master bath. Chuck from Tile & Bath Service was great to work with! He arranged for the glass block wall to be removed by recommending another company (masonry & glass systems) who installed a new wall, outside siding, and new floor. then Chuck helped us pick out a new shower, including the fixtures, and base.

 + 0 moreI found this company on Angie's List. I called and spoke with the owner, Chuck, and he arranged to come by the next day to take measurements. He is a friendly and professional person. It only took him a few minutes to take the measurements, and he promised to provide me with an estimate by the next day. By the next morning, he had emailed me an estimate. I had also gotten estimates from two other companies, and his was the lowest priced. My wife and I went to his admittedly small showroom, and his wife, Pat, provided great assistance in helping my wife and I pick out what we wanted installed. We were able to schedule the installation within 2 weeks. The job was to take 4 days--Tuesday through Friday. The two installers showed up promptly at 7:00 on the scheduled Tuesday. They were courteous and professional. They laid down blankets on the stairs and carpet and when they were finished each day there was no mess whatsoever. They did an excellent job installing all of the items, and even installed new light fixtures which we had purchased from another company for free. Chuck came by every day to check on the progress, and always made sure to bring treats for my dog when he came. The job was completed by 2:00 on Friday afternoon, just as scheduled. This was the first time my wife and I had a major remodeling project done on our house, and we couldn't have been happier. I would definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

 + -1 moreChuck has been doing this for years and has it down to a science. He knows which materials and brands work and which to stay away from. The showroom is small but adequate; when they did not have an item I was interested in, they pointed me to showrooms where I could see it. Chuck and his installers were always punctual (in fact, they were able to complete my work a week earlier than the original estimate). They were very clear about the cost of items and spent a good deal of time talking with me about options. They did not try to upsell me to more expensive items or work that I did not want done. The installers were prompt, asked for my input, explained things I was unclear about and cleaned up after themselves. When they were done, other than the bathroom where the work was done, there was no indication that anyone had even been in my house. Theirs was not the cheapest bid I got but they were not much more expensive than the lowest bid and for the quality of work done, I feel confident they were worth the few extra dollars.
Description of Work: Replace drywall around tub, install new tub, plumbing, faucet and tub enclosure. Install new vent fan.

 + 0 moreGreat experience overall. Chuck came out initially to give a quote and after visiting his shop we made major changes and he came out for a second set of measurements. They were very patient with us while picking out all of the components for the bathroom, providing general advice but not pushing us in any direction based on their own opinions. The work itself was done very well. The gentlemen who did the work were professional, cleaned up every day on their way out, and were patient and diligent responding to any questions. The quality of the work is great, and my wife and I are both very pleased with the entire experience. I have two more bathrooms in the house and it's very likely Chuck and company will be involved with work in both of them in the future.

Chuck Motycka checked everyday on their progress and also kept me informed of what was being done and why. I would use this company again in a heart beat and would recommend them to family and friends. If you want your shower rebuilt in an efficient and professional manner this is the company to use. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and feel the price was very reasonable.
Description of Work: They rebuilt a master bathroom corner shower that has sustained water damage. They removed existing shower door, base, faucet and walls and replace them with a new shower base and cultured marble walls and shower faucet. They also free of charge repaired the grouting on the vanity area near the shower. This was not an easy job because the remodel job done years before had not correctly installed the plumbing for the job. The glass and shower doors were installed by another company which they recommended.
