Excellent, done in two days, quiet, efficient, clean up of everything, no mess left,way more for our money than we expected

Initial appointment was made to review current landscaping in front and back yards. Trevor arrived on-time and was very congenial and professional. He had a lot of good ideas and we were able to come up with a general plan. He also provided a general idea of what the work would cost and when it could be performed. A formal bid arrived via e-mail a few days later, along with a diagram of what the work would look like. After meeting with a couple of other landscapers, we decided to go with Shelton based on their price, responsiveness, and favorable reviews on Angie's List. I then returned the signed agreement, along with a 50% down payment. The work was performed approximately 6 weeks later (obviously May - June is a busy time.) Trevor called the day before to let me know he would send a crew out the following day. The work was completed quickly (less than a day) and looks fantastic! Everything we agreed to was performed and all bushes/trees planted look great. They also did a very nice job with clean-up. I would not hesitate to use Shelton again for any landscaping projects.

The crew was polite and professional. They took care to be careful of our plants and cleaned up afterwards. Would highly recommend!

Very responsive, showed up when they said they would, performed all the work in a very professional manner, went over and above expectations. Trevor was the initial contact who reviewed and bid the work, and he also showed up at the outset of the work to give detailed instructions to the crew. The crew was great -- polite and hard-working.

Shelton Landscape did a great job on our landscaping project. Their pricing was exactly what I thought would be a good/fair price for our project, but considerably below another Angie's Service Award Winner I asked to bid on the project. They were nice enough to move us up in the schedule to meet a need we had and 3 guys worked a full day in frigid temperatures and snow to get our project completed. The person (Trevor) who bid/sold the project was on-site to ensure the project was completed per our agreement which I think is very important. We had a couple of minor issues which Trevor and a worker came out to address within a few days. I would not hesitate to use Shelton Landscaping in the future and I definitely think they should be on your short list of folks to talk to for a landscaping project.

Quoted replacement of two retaining walls; I chose a different contractor.

I asked for a a paver patio in my solarium to replace the current patio. I was particularly concerned about the flooding that occurs when it rains heavily. Clay came out and talked about how they were going to dig deep into the ground, pour concrete, add rocks and place the pavers so as to eliminate the flooding in the future. The work has only been done for two months, so the real test will be in the spring when the rains come. I watched the work being done, so I am confident that there is a good chance that it will not flood. The patio looks great and is a big improvement over what I had. I also asked for some landscaping to dress up the backyard and to keep my dogs away from the neighbor's fence. The landscaping that was installed is a little different than the original design, but Clay mentioned that this might happen. It may take a season or two to grow big enough to really keep my dog from getting to the fence, but it looks amazing and we plan on doing front landscaping next year with a similar design.

Scott Shelton came out and toured the buildings we scheduled for landscaping. We checked each building and he made notes and recommendations on what he would plant and where. Within two weeks we received a detailed drawing of each building showing plant location and type of plant. The drawings were detailed and in color - we knew exactly what plant was going in each location. It was obvious Scott was extremely knowledgeable about landscaping and types of plants - we were very pleased after our discussions. We signed the contract and Shelton Landscaping finished the project earlier this month. We were extremely satisfied - truthfully, he went above and beyond our expectations. It is so great to have a company do exactly what it says it's going to do, do it extremely well, and then do an even better job than we expected. We will definitely be hiring Shelton to do our remaining buildings next year!

Scott Shelton came for an estimate, and discussed with us everything we wanted done, and was very responsive when we had questions or concerns, and changed his original plan to address our concerns. He was very informative in telling us how and why things would be done. We had several other estimates and his was the most reasonable. They started when promised, and the crew was here working every day until the job was done. None of the common practice of starting a job, then disappearing for several days. His crew were all polite and diligent. The work site was left neat each day. He kept us informed of the schedule of work, and kept to the schedule. We are extremely pleased and are already talking to him about additional work. We highly recommend him.

All went ok except both trees were installed leaning, not vertically straight. I complained but the installer said they would correct it later. Still not has not been corrrected, plus one tree started dying during the summer and now is completely dead. I have called the dealer about these problems several times and always get told they will correct the problems LATER! IT'S ALWAYS THAT THEY WILL CORRECT IT BUT NEVER DO.

Trevor visited the sight, took pictures and provided a computer-generated top-down view of the two areas and the specified plantings. I looked up information on the plants and was pleased with his selections. The crew of two arrived at the appointed time and started by removing the ivy. landscape timbers and a number of unwanted plants while not disturbing the underground sprinkler system. A buried boulder was discovered and dug up, the area was leveled and the ivy roots were dug up. Trevor, the designer, supervised the placement of the new plants and the four boulders, plants were planted and watered and double-ground, dyed brown mulch was spread to a depth of 3-4". In the back yard, a half-dead Japanese maple tree was replaced with a Wolf-Eyes Dogwood. All ivy vines and roots, landscape timbers and removed plants were hauled away and the front yard area was left in pristine condition. As a task beyond the agreement, the crew removed some other ivy at my direction and loaded up fallen leaves from the area. Instead of the 1.5 days estimated for the job, and except for the Dogwood tree to come later, the project was completed in one day.

Trevor was very professional and timely in design and estimate. Would highly recommend. Due to the economy decided not to start the project.

Trevor was the contact and he was outstanding. From the moment made first contact to his coming out to survey, he was very professional and up front. After several quotes and design changes, we finally agreed and down payment was provided. The work was done in one day and the quality and attention to detail was excellent. He followed up to ensure that everything that was agreed upon was completed. i had received two other quotes and designs and by far Shelton's was the better quality although, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for and i can say i was very pleased. Would definitely recommend them. My association is looking for a contractor and i have recommended them. Nice job and thank you to Trevor and his team. "You Rock".

I requested bids from 4 companies. Two did not provide bids. Of the 2 that did, Scott Shelton had the most creative and extensive solution at at a significantly lower cost. I try not to let price be the main deciding factor. His plan was significantly better and he had an exceptional rating on Angie's list. It was an easy choice. Once the supplies were ordered and arrived - the project was scheduled very soon and completed in one day. We are very pleased with the work. The team showed up when they said they would - were pleasant and paid attention to details. I would recommend Shelton Landscaping to anyone in need of the services they provide

We prefer not to disclose the quote amount but it was reasonable. They were pretty easy to work with. They were good. Every one of them were pretty fast at getting the estimate out and they were reasonable. Their work and reviews were good, and so we decided to go with them.

Shelton was very professional and very easy to work with, also open to new ideas. Started work when they said they would, and completed on time as well. They have built us a beautiful patio, and would definitely use them again in the future. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get quality service.

they were very professional and made sggestions on how to do.some of the landscaping that they thougt wouid be better than what I had planned.they didn't dally around.worked fast.when job was done,cleaned up after the job.i have more work to be done in the fall.asked them to send give me a price for later in the fall.i had a lwer bid,but the bid had no detail as what they would do.sheltons bid detailed every thing they did.

The whole experience was amazing from the start! We started by getting a quote back in May... But after more comparison shopping and educating ourselves on what we truly wanted, Scott was invited back to update the bid - and he graciously agreed and genuinely appreciated the opportunity. We immediately felt comfortable with his bid and ideas and hired him to do the job. The project was started earlier in July (after some weather delays and other jobs he had to finish; we appreciated his honesty and communication throughout the whole delay time). Once the demolition began, it only took 6 days to complete the work, but it was intense! Everything from taking down part of the fence and decorative block wall on the side of the house (in order to get the Bobcat into the backyard) to the delivering all the materials to removing the existing debris and leveling the backyard to meet the new wall... Everything was discussed up-front and was included in the bid - no surprises or "making it up as it goes" situations and it was smoothly orchestrated. I have never seen laborers work as hard as Scott's crew and to take the personal pride and enjoyment in their work. And we appreciated that Scott brought out a crew that worked so well together. And Scott is not afraid to delegate some of the more special parts of the job to experts he knows (rather than just trying to make it work). Those are some of the details that made us feel that we got a heck of a deal! It was an honor to get to know Scott and his employees better and we are extremely blessed to have hired Shelton Landscaping. Our backyard has been completely transformed and we now love going out there (whereas before it was more of an eye-sore). We are so impressed and excited to have hired Shelton, we are going to have him bid another project that we have in mind!

We love it! Scott and his crew did a fabulous job! Thanks to their efforts our back yard is looking so much better. We could not be more pleased with the results. The flagstone path behind the shed is beautiful. Scott replaced the old water splash from our downspout with a wonderful rock formation (too hard to describe--looks like a pond bed) that just knocked our socks off! They trimmed my crazy bushes without being asked and made a raggedy old space look great. They even mulched all around our composite bin! We want him to come back in the fall and plant bulbs for us. They did a great job with clean up-you'd never know they were there. No mess left at all. We will be using Scott's services again in the not too distant future. You can't possibly go wrong with Shelton Landscape.

Shelton's landscaping did a great job and were honest about their work load and when they could do the work. I travel for work and they did a great job of communicating with me by phone and email. Scott did a great job with the design work and only had to meet with me once to review. I came back after the scheduled time for the job and everything looked great. They even put grass seed out in some of the barespots in the yard. They went above and beyond and I really enjoyed working with someone who is local. I plan to use them to maintain the work that they did. Couldn't be happier.

Very professional the guys came in and setup the brick the way we wanted. Clay the head guy would come over and look at the work. The workers are good, but if you find anything you don't like you just tell them and they fix it. Those bricks are so heavy and hard to put up, but the guys did it like it was nothing. I thought they did such a good job I even brought them lunch.

First, let me just say that I had quite possibly the best experience of homeownership working with Clay at Shelton's Landscaping & Maintenance. From the initial contact with a bid inquiry, all the way through the completion of the project, Clay consistently exceeded all of my expectations. Not only was Clay responsive with emails and phone calls, he was kind, courteous, helpful and genuinely cared about the project. We initially reached out to several contractors for bids to help us solve our basement water problem. Many suggested a retaining wall + french drain solution at a premium price, but after meeting with Clay and having him examine our yard, he was confident that the problem could easily be solved with a retaining wall with perforated pipe drainage and regrading the yard to push water away from our foundation. Shelton's bid was right in the sweet spot of value + quality, and I felt confident in dealing with Clay that we would have a positive experience. I'm extremely glad I was right. Work began right on time with the delivery of a Bobcat and 2 workers, who promptly started to cut out the hill where the wall would be placed. With machine-like efficiency, the first day of work gave us a great idea of the quality of work we could expect upon completion. Days two and three were less foundational and more construction, with the building of the wall. We had some extra material on the site, and Clay suggested a neat use of a tie-back that would give the wall some really cool character with a terraced-like look on the right-hand side. Once the wall was constructed, we decided to plant some street trees, and this is where having Clay's expertise really came in handy He suggested several trees and shrubs that would do well with the light and growing conditions, and referred us to several resources to do our own research. In the end, we put together a list of items we would like planted, and he came through with some amazing specimens, planted in such a way that looked really natural (and beautiful). The last decision point we had was to either straw and seed our back yard and other areas where the Bobcat laid tracks, or to sod those affected areas. We opted to pay the extra for Sod, and we're glad we did, as we were able to enjoy the backyard landscaping with our children way sooner than we would have otherwise. The quoted base price of $5,680 was exceeded by about $2,000 in River Rock, Plants, Shrubs, Trees and Sod, but was still a better overall value than the next-lowest quote. I was floored by the quality I received for the price and craftsmanship. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. Clay's crew was very detail-oriented, and obviously driven to deliver the highest-quality product they could. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shelton's Landscaping & Maintenance for your project. Oh, and the basement? After the six consecutive days of hard, summer thunderstorms... we're still dry as a bone. Mission accomplished!!

I wasn't home when they started the work, but got home when they were finishing up. It must not have taken the crew (four people) too long to complete the work because they left around 2:00. There was a lot of rock that had to be installed so I was surprised it was finished so quickly. Everything looks great and I could not be happier. It looks even better than I expected. The crew left the place spotless. Scott was very nice to work with and I hope to get him re-do the front yard either in the fall or next Spring.
