Installed new and expensive Lennox air conditioner, I was told by the sales person, the Dave Lennox Signature Collection expensive air conditioner unit I purchased was the quietest unit on the market. This was also stated on the internet. Because I have a strong aversion to noise and my deck is within a short distance of the A/C unit, I reluctantly decided to pay the excessive price (Compared to many other A/C units on the market). It was installed within a couple weeks of purchase replacing an old unit that was leaking freeon. That day, It seemed to take a large amount of time to install. Not sure why. The day after installation I was in the back yard and heard this loud droning sound and a second sound like metal was hitting metal. When I walked to the side yard where the noise was coming from, I was appalled to find it was the new air conditioner installed the day before. I contacted Snelling Heating/Cooling and they came out a week later. I told them of my large concern about the noise. The first service person said he did not think it was that loud. That statement was laughable. I simply told him it was unacceptable, period. He then said he would do some homework and get back to me. A week later after a follow-up phone call from me, they sent another service person out. That individual asked me to just leave so he could sit and listened to it for awhile. Then said he would go over to another house who had purchased the same unit and compare the noise. A few more days passed. I called again. The servicement said he would contact the manufacturer to see what they would do. Apparently they must have decided for themselves it was noisy and it wasn't all in my head like they implied. I told him I felt I was given a lemon and I wanted a whole new unit. He said it was not my call, that the manufacturer would make that determination. I was not happy with that statement since I had just paid nearly $5,000 a week before and now I was dealing with a very noisy unit, the opposite of what they said in the sales pitch. Eventaully, The manufacturer authorized replacement of the compressor. The compressor! That is the guts to the whole unit!!! After replacment it was a bit better as the metal hitting metal sound was gone but I still was not pleased with the loud droning sound of the unit and I expressed that to no avail. I tolerated the droning noise throughout its first summer never being happy with it. In comparison, I didn't even notice any noise on my old A/C. Also, my neighbors new A/C is right next to my deck and I don't even notice it running. Now the summer of 2014, I turned on the air conditioner and it is again overly noisy and very disappointing. Right back where I began.

I kept blowing fuses in my furnace and neither a/c or furnace would work. Everyone else would just replace it and not diagnose why it was happening. Snelling spent the time to fix it. Replaced thermostat which was causing the short.

It went great. Dave, the electrician, arrived on time and with a smile. He quickly diagnosed my problem and fixed it without delay. I was so relieved that it wasn't a major problem after all.

I had another coming come two days before and they put in a wrong mortar. I went with the number one rated in this area. They had to do a lot of work because of what was done the first time. They were professional, knowledgeable and did what they had to do and left. As far as letting me know what was going on, they were quick. They were 15 minutes early and they came out when i called them.

It was easy to get an estimate for this work and to schedule the install. The work was started at 8:30 am and completely finished and cleaned up by 5:15 pm. The first part of the crew arrived right on time; throughout the course of the day, the right workman arrived at the right times to keep the work moving. As is the case with a century-old house, there can be issues -- like a roof line that prevented putting one of the wall units where I wanted it. But the team from Snelling was great at working out alternatives, including a solution that was better than I thought it would be, allowing the lines to run across a lower roofline instead of through the basement. The crew had to put a notch in some of the house trim to run the exterior lines, but they were careful to let me know what they were going to do before they did it and to make sure I agreed. They did a great job of cleanup, inside and outside. I am very pleased with the overall experience and with the final result. They're honest, reliable, respectful and professional. They'll be coming back in June to repair a problem pipe to one of my radiators.
Description of Work: Installed 2 Fujistsu mini-split air conditioning/heating units with outdoor condenser. Also included electrical work, rework of circuit box, use of line-hiders to cover ducting on the exterior of the house and the pad for the condenser. Filled unit with coolant and tested.

Our furnace died in the night; I called Snelling in the morning. My schedule was complicated by the fact that I had somewhere I needed to be at 5 p.m., so I absolutely needed this taken care of before then. The scheduling person initially scheduled us for noon to four, but when I repeated that I really truly NEEDED to be gone by five, switched it to noon to three. Then she called back in mid-morning to tell me there had been a cancellation and she could send someone right over if that worked for me. The tech arrived fifteen minutes later and fixed the furnace in about a half hour. I'm very happy with the experience and would definitely call them again.

I called after they were closed. Dave came the first thing in the morning battling a recent very deep snow storm to get here. He knew immediately what was wrong and replaced the thermocoupler. He was excellent.

We returned from a tropical vacation to our home in Minnesota, and our furnace had stopped working. It was 44 degrees in our house. Around 6:00 pm, we called and, per the message, left a voicemail for the technician at Snelling. He (Dave) called us back within a half hour, and said he'd be at our house in 30 minutes. He was! And within another half hour he had diagnosed the problem. He replaced the faulty igniter and we had heat. Responsive, professional, personable, and punctual! Highly recommend.

Bob was terrific. After chatting a while on the phone, he determined he couldn't give me advice without coming over so he did just that. My condo was built in 1890, has interior exposed brick (from 1890, which is porous) and the place is always cold. I wish he'd told me a bigger and better furnace would have heated the place, but because of the way it was constructed, Bob said other than massive rebuild of my unit, there wasn't much to be done. Gave sound advice on keeping warm(er). Honest, forthright, professional. Explained everything thoroughly.

I called at 7:30am, someone called me back at 7:50am, an appointment was made for 12-4pm. I actually got another call at 11:00am saying they would be over in 15 minutes. And the service charge wasnt too bad considering it was -30 outside that week. Good experience, would call them again.

I called Snelling Heating when I came home from work to discover that only cold air was coming from the furnace on a below zero day - the thermostat was showing 60 degrees. It was after hours, so I had to leave a message for their emergency service on-call technician. Chad called me back within 1/2 hour and after determining that he would have to look at the furnace to figure out the problem, told me he'd be at my home in 20 minutes. He arrived promptly 19 minutes later. He was able to quickly diagnose it as a pressure problem that was keeping the pilot light from igniting, and he explained the three potential causes. He started with the easiest to fix, and discovered that there was a blocked pressure valve. After cleaning it, he was able to get the furnace going again and I had heat flowing within 30 minutes of his arrival. Chad was extremely polite, competent, personable, and he was able to explain what he was doing in layman's terms. I wouldn't hesitate to call Snelling Heating again with any furnace issues (but I hope not to have to do so any time soon!)

On the coldest day of the year, we woke up to a colder than usual house because the furnace had quit working. (Thank goodness for our gas fireplace.) I called one place and found out that they don't service Lennox furnaces anymore because you can't get parts for them, did an online search for area Lennox dealers, and cross-referenced that list with Angie's list of repair companies. I called Snelling Heating at 8:01 am, the repair person Dave was here by about 9am, and he had the furnace repaired by about 9:30 am. He changed the air flapper in the furnace. Lennox parts aren't made anymore, but Dave had a stash of flappers that he was guarding as if they were gold. He then went outside the house to check the intake and outtake pipes where he cut down the intake pipe that was too long and full of snow. I was able to use the 10% off Angies List coupon. Our 23-year old furnace is on its last legs, so Snelling is going to have an estimator here tomorrow to help us with that whole process.

Dave ended up making 3 trips to our home. Our pilot light wouldn't stay lit. Dave replaced the Thermal Couple, fixed the problem and left. In less than 30 minutes, he was back. Something my husband had said about soot build-up concerned him and he wanted to check and make sure there weren't any additional problems. It turns out our Chimney was completely blocked! He did CO2 readings and they were horrifc. He turned off our boiler and recommended we call Metro Cleaning to have our furnace cleaned. We gave them a call and they came out that same day and cleaned our boiler and stack so well, it looked brand new. Unfortunately, during the cleaning process, a couple of wires were dislodged and the furnace couldn't restart. I called Dave and he came back again. He was thorough, professional, and possibly saved our lives!

We got home at 6:30 on a Friday evening few days after Christmas to discover that our house was 49 degrees. After leaving a message on the after hours message system, I got a call from Chad within 15 minutes. After hearing the details about our situation he was at our house within about 20 minutes. He diagnosed the problem and got the motor which had seized limping along until he could get the part. That got us through the night. He called by 9 a.m. Saturday morning and was at our house about 30 minutes later. By 10:15 our furnace was as good as new. The price for the motor gave us a little sticker shock, but since we weren't in a situation that invited a lot of shopping around I assume it was a fair price. Chad was friendly and professional. I would recommend this business.

Woke up on 12/9 to a cold upstairs and a malfunctioning furnace...called a few companies and Snelling was the only one who would commit to having someone come within 5-6 hours. In the early afternoon they called and their van arrived, Mike quickly diagnosed the problem, made the fix and waited to ensure there was nothing else wrong. I was told that the service call was good for the next 30 days in case something went wrong....so, all worked out well. Prompt, courteous, professional and quality - all on a very cold day!

Our furnace stopped, Technician returned call promptly. Explained he didn't have motor parts for our brand of furnace, suggested making sure problem wasn't the filter, encouraged us to call other companies as he wouldn't be able to get to us until late in the evening (esp if motor parts would be required), and suggested we call back later if nothing else worked. We did get a hold of another company that worked with our brand of furnace. In the end it was a heat sensor. The Snelling Tech was awesome and this company is really close. We'll definitely call them first the next time.

It was an emergency call on a Sunday without heat; 53 degree inside of the house, outside it was in the teens...Brrrr... Chad did an excellent job in assessing the problem in less than a minute, did an accurate diagnostic, showed me the price list and showed me where the problem was. In less than an hour he got the furnace back up running. I totally recommend this company.

I called to arrange for regular maintenance on my central air conditioning. They told me a technician would arrive between noon and 4:00 p.m. and he arrived at 3:30 p.m. I've had Mike D. as a technician before and he's a friendly and helpful person. He checked all the mechanical components, oiled the motor, and washed the debris (leaves, tree seeds, etc.) out of the outdoor unit. My central air conditioning has been leaking refrigerant over the years and they have been struggling to control this. The last time Mike was here two years ago he tightened all the connections. That seemed to help, because the amount of refrigerant that leaked out between the last regular maintenance and this current maintenance declined significantly.

I contacted them for duct cleaning for a rental town home I have in Eagan. The gal who answered the phone was a little impatient, but professional. Then she put me on hold which is okay. A little later, a guy came on (I don't remember his name). He did some explaining and I thought we were getting some where, but then the conversation went south. He was rude, condescending. He sounded like as if everyone depended on them. I told him that the sun rose without him.

[Member name removed] called our company for a quote on duct cleaning. He was not a current customer so questions were asked about his heating system so that we could give him the best information possible. He was transferred to our sales department and one of our estimators tried to give him the information he desired. Unfortunately, the customer did not understand our practice of visiting the home so that our estimate is correct but insisted that we give him a quote over the phone. It is unfortunate that the conversation did not go well, however, we do try to give any caller the best service we can.

I love these people! (Person that answers the phone, sales guy that sold us the water heater, to the installation guys.) Besides the fact that they did this all in 1 day, my husband had had a serious accident in the midst of all of this, and we were trying to get him to Dr. Appointments to prep for surgery the next day. (Which made having our water heater spring a leak, like some sort of Murphy's Law or something.) Snelling was amazing! When I told them what happened to my husband, they felt so bad for us...and completely worked around the appointments we had that day to get into the house and get us hot water again. The receptionist said, "Oh, I've been waiting for you to get home and call back...the guys will be there in 20 minutes for the install!" It was such a wonderful customer service experience during a pretty stressful personal time. St. Paul = St. Small, and I love it! (FYI...we've used them before and been satisfied, but this was a cherry-on-top!)
Description of Work: Hot Water Heater rusted out on the bottom, and suddenly we were faced with a leaking Hot Water Heater, and the need for a replacement. My husband was able to get it drained, but not having hot water for more than about 48 hours starts to be a problem. They came in, removed the old heater (having it already drained helps make it go faster for them, FYI), showed me my options for a new one, and had the new one installed later that afternoon.

I called the company to have someone come to my home and give me an estimate for a new central air system. The man I spoke with (John) kept pressing me to tell him what other companies I had spoken with and what their estimates were. I said I only received one estimate and it was a year ago. He kept pressing, so I guessed at the approximate cost they had given me, but he scoffed and said that I should go with that company because he couldn't do it for that amount. I explained I wasn't sure of the estimate because I didn't have the paperwork in front of me, but he said having his company provide an estimate would be a waste of time for them and me. I was very interested in doing business with them because others rated them highly, but I gave up and called other companies.

Bob, our salesman, represented himself as a former contractor with 30+ years of experience who felt that he was to educate us as well as sell his product. Upon hearing our problem he asked to see our furnace. He noted that we used 3M filters and advised us that, according to his personal research, this was the poorest we could use and that we should use the cheapest, paper filters we could find. He removed the filter from the furnace and then proceeded to our bedroom, where we were not getting enough air, had us hold a piece of tissue paper over the service vent noting that it fluttered well. He then went to the basement, inserted our 3M filter, and asked what I observed. I said that there was no change - it still fluttered as before. There was no further discussion of this problem! He then presented a proposal that would "probably" solve our problem - a 90,000BTU furnace to replace our 88,000BTU furnace and continue with our current humidifier since it was "the best on the market and we couldn't do better!" We stated to him that we wanted to speak with two other vendors, one associated with Home Depot. He advised that we be wary of them since they offered a two year, no interest plan and "they had to make their money someplace else, didn't they." He also said that if the company could install the product "next week" we should again be wary since "they didn't have much business, did they." We called Bob, left a message on his voice mail that we had decided to go with another company and thanked him for his time. He returned our call, asked what we had decided to do, we told him that we were buying a 60,000 BTU unit and he said "Good luck with that. There is no way that that will solve your problem." We again thanked him at which point he again wished us luck and we terminated the call. We spent approximately two hours with him.
