Sela Roofing & Remodeling

They seemed very capable and professional. They were punctual when they came to give their presentation. They were very good at explaining what they were going to do. They were good sales people.

They're estimate was competiive and comparable with two other estimates I had obtained for the same roofing job. I didn't select them, instead going with the company with the higher Angie's List rating.

The estimate phase went fairly well. Our salesman, Carey seemed to do a good job. The problems came during installation. The job was scheduled to begin on a Monday at 8 am. We called Sela at noon when no one had shown up yet or called. They told us they weren't coming because of the possibility of rain. We told them we would have appreciated a call since we had taken the day off work to be home for them. They said they would be out the next day. Again, they didn't show or call. On Wednesday, they said they'd be out at 10 am. They didn't show until 6:30 p.m. They worked for an hour and left. They finally finished on Thursday, but left behind trash everywhere (yard, bushes, gutters) and the work was shoddy (edges not cut straight, siding damaged, soffit damaged, shingles damaged, etc.). The next week they sent out someone to take care of our 20 item punch list. He was helpful and did good work and said the work crew had made many mistakes. He took care of most of it, but we ended calling out another guy to fix a few things we still weren't satisfied with about the work. In the end, the roof looks good. But there was a lot of hassle and delay to get there. They did give us a $100 gift card for our trouble, which was nice, but didn't seem like enough for the problems we encountered.

They were very professional and very speedy. I did not use them. Everything was okay, except the price, which was a little higher than the other companies. They were good. I will consider them for a future bid.

I had a roof put in by another company that is no longer in business and have been having problems with the underlayment separating from the frame. Sela would not commit to a bid for working on the roof due to my potential legal issues with the other roofers, which was not any of Sela's concern. They made it clear that they didn't want to get involved. I have water leakage at this time.

They were one of the candidates, but they haven't roofed our house. I would highly recommend them. I liked the salesperson. I just liked the fact that they have been in business for twenty some years. I would consider using them in the future.

Their craftsmanship was good. They did an excellent job. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. We would never know that they were even here. I would definitely recommend them for siding and roofing. There were a couple of issues but they were good overall. Our experience with them was very good. We would hire them again.

Our roof is complicated due to several intersecting roof lines, overhangs, bump outs and a turret. Sela took extra measures on some spots that had problems or had the potential for issues, which I appreciated. Some contractors just want to do a simple tear off & replace exactly like it was. Now my roof is not just new but I think also better, with the relocation of vents & extra metal work they did. Sela's price was competitive & the final cost was as quoted. The crew doing the work was good. They moved anything below that could get damaged. They also covered windows to make sure none were damaged in the process. They cleaned up everything. I'm very satisfied with the work they did.

They were responsive to our request for a bid, and since we were return customers (having had our siding redone by them in the past), their bid was the lowest of those we received. While rain slowed down the project by several days, and one day the project lead was sick and didn't show but didn't tell anyone why (he apologized the next day), we were still satisfied with the workmanship. The workers themselves were diligent, cleaned up each day, and didn't play loud music that would disturb the neighborhood. The follow up on payment and paper work was a little slow but finally completed.

I knew by reputation that they were very good. They were very low maintenance. They came in and got the job done. We didn't have flat tires from roofing nails. You are paying more for them but you are also having fewer worries.

Everything was done to satisfaction. I have no complaints about the whole project. They even cleaned up after themselves. The person in charged fixed all of our concerns.

Everything I have had done by them has been perfect. There was one bad crew that they had used, and when I pointed out what happened, they fired the crew and redid all the work from scratch at no cost. I wouldn't use anybody else for any roofing or remodeling work and I would highly recommend them.

They were good. They cleaned up everything. I was really happy with them coming back to take care of the flat roof and got it to stop leaking. The leak was coming from the window, which they repaired for $100.00. They kept coming back until they got the leak to stop.

They hired very good crews, were punctual and meticulous about the finishing details. They provided high, quality work.

They did a great job. They finished it in 1 day, and it was perfect. They cleaned up really well including all the nails. Their price was fair.

Do not buy a house or condo remodeled by Sela. Based on our experience, I would not hire them to do a remodeling either since they tend to cut corners.

I returned home to find the worker's ladder set up in my driveway and bits of aluminum strewn throughout. I could not use my driveway that day. Yes, my neighbor should have told me that work was going to be done, however, I believe it is the contractor's responsibility to educate their customers on what to expect, including how their job may affect their neighbors. If they detect that a customer does not understand the impact of their job, the contractor should take it upon themselves to notify those most immediately affected. That is what professional companies do. Even after the worker left for the day, there were strips of aluminum in my driveway. It was not a good clean-up. Additionally, I can see the work on the side of my neighbor's house that faces mine. The caulking is sloppy and there are gaps between the new wrap and the wood underneath. There are seams that should be caulked that aren't. This will allow water to enter and further damage/rot the wood.

The initial assessment was a waste of my time, with a "roof" guy showing up to assess the construction work, and ending up telling me it would be a "time and materials" project and he had no idea what an estimate might be. Several other companies were able to assess and give cost guidance without my feeling like I was being patronized. Construction folks showed up without notice to assess the work for a more formal quote.

Overall I was very pleased with the process, and SOOOOOOOO glad with the color choice...I just can't get over how much a shingle color can make such a huge difference in how a house looks! Thanks to everyone involved, especially Joe for his explanations on the process. He really knows the roofing industry and was patient with all of our questions...even when we asked more than once...which I know I did!

The roofing project was great. They did a really great job of protecting the foundation plants. They did a great job of making sure all the nails were picked up from the driveway. But then the other team didn't come for a couple months. I called to see if they'd forgotten me. They finally came a couple months later and replaced the siding and window wraps. They cut the actual corner of the framing on a window I had just replaced a year earlier. I discovered this the morning after they did the work. I was upset with this and called to tell them not to come out because I was upset. They showed up anyway because they were on their way already. I told them to leave and the site manager asked me why. When I showed him the damage he asked me when I had noticed the damage. I thought that was an inappropriate question. They finally left. I got the opinion of the window manufacturer on what I should do. I contacted Sela and said I would be replacing the window frame and deducting it from their bill. I talked to John who said that was fine. They sent someone out to get the balance due and I insisted on a lien waiver for the full amount which they gave me. About a week later a woman, Michelle, called me from Sela and said they would not spend that amount of money to replace a window. I contacted a lawyer who then sent them a letter and that was the end of it. I never heard from Sela again and neither did he. Sela did not contact me as soon as this mistake happened, they never apologized and they never offered me a solution. I had to decide the solution which is crazy. I would never run a company like that. I would not hire them again. I might however hire them for a roofing job because their roofing crews do a great job and I was really happy with that piece of the work.

They put a roof on my house in 1999 and after a few years the shingles started falling off. It was still under warranty and so they came out and fixed it for free. The original job wasn't very good, but I was satisfied with the repair job they did.

I was very impressed. They were out here when they said they would be. They worked quickly. They cleaned up everything and the work was beautiful.

They worked quickly. The only thing I was unhappy about was when they sent someone out at the very end to inspect things. It didn t seem to me like he was rubber stamping the job so they could move on. I felt that they didn t do a good job with the trim. It could have been cosmetically a little nicer. They might have been a little on the high side for price. It seemed like I spent quite a bit for the small amount of time they were there.

We received an estimate promptly and decided on Sela based on its reputation as one of the best companies in town. However, on the day the work was to be done, they were to be there first thing in the morning. My husband called around 9 and was told they'd be there within an hour. After several phone calls on his part, the workers showed up around 4 p.m. They stayed until 8:30 and had to come back the next morning, so my husband had to cancel some appointments. The work was not completed to our satisfaction. There is a gap of 1"-2" between the new roofing and where the house siding ends. It then took two months to get someone from Sela to come out and see this problem; we were then told that, due to code, they could not install flashing. No alternatives were presented. We would have gladly paid extra to have some new siding placed so that the work has a finished look.

The quality of the work seemed good (the roof didn't leak afterwords), but the work was expensive and they were not very quick about getting it done. I was also a little disappointed in the quality of the cleanup afterwords (debris in the yard).
