Sela Roofing & Remodeling

I hired Sela Roofing and Remodeling to replace the entire roof and venting on my house, insulate my attic and space over my garage to R50, and install a solar light (small skylight) in my front hallway to provide light where it was always dark. We had several meetings with the project manager from Sela to determine what exactly needed to be done. We were told that the job would take up to three days and would be notified ahead of time when the project would be started. Each time we had questions concerning the project, we contacted the project manager with the question or issue. He, or one of his colleagues, always got back to us within 24 hours, answering our questions or resolving issues to our satisfaction. Sela's work crews arrived on time each day, worked complete days and finished around noon on the third day. Each day, the crew would clean up all scrap material and move their equipment off site. All nails and other debris were removed in a final clean up on the third day. In addition, an extra package of shingles was left to make repairs if, in the future, several shingles were damaged, the roof shingles could be more easily matched. The two men insulating the attic and space above the garage started and finished on time, cleaned up every day at the end of the day, and treated my house as if it were their own. They always knocked on our door if they needed to be inside the house. The entrance to the attic and space above the garage was cramped, but the two men doing the insulating worked around the small space without damaging any of my property, including a 45 year old convertible that is being restored, but could not be moved at that time. The results were better than I expected. The roof looks great, with the color of the roof on the house being the same as in the brochure, even rows, and no nails all over the lawn and gardens. The garage is noticeably quieter that before it was insulated. Though it has been chilly the past few days, I have yet to turn on the furnace. The solar light really lights up the hallway and stairway below it. As to the pricing, etc. the final price was just $35 below the estimate. Our project manager helped us with loss claims for the roof, not only through our house insurance carrier, but also through the previous roofing material manufacturer, who had a recall on the roofing material. I believe, that had we not gone through Sela, the recall on the previous roof material would not have been noted and claimed. We have a claim amount or refund coming in the next month or so. Finally, if anyone should ask about whether or not I would hire Sela to do another roof, insulation, or remodeling job, I would highly recommend them. They are professional, knowledgeable, and fairly priced.

Sela did a fantastic job for me! I recently purchased a new home and to my surprise, the entire roof needed to be replaced. Pat Hall (Sales Rep at Sela) was extremely professional and very considerate of my feelings. He not only provided me with a competitive proposal, but he took the extra steps to make sure the roof was done to my standards. Throughout the process, Sela's workers would ask for my approval before doing anything outside of scope. I'm very please with my new roof and thank Sela for the peace of mind.

Sela sales representative was very professional and friendly. He clear on costs and scheduling. We did not feel pressured to sign in a hurry and all our questions and concerns were promptly answered and addressed. Our Sela rep even assisted us in filing a claim for our CertainTeed shingles that failed. The workmanship on the roof is excellent and we were impressed with how efficient the installation was. They did an excellent job of clean up after the job was complete. We would not hesitate to recommend Sela. An excellent experience!

Overall, it went okay. The person who was coming out to see the house set an appointment to meet me at my house. That morning, he decided it was too much of a hassle to come out and meet with me (not sure if it was traffic or what), so he gave a phone estimate which they honored, but I would have appreciated meeting in advance. The roofing was done quickly and professionally and it looks great, we don't have any leaks (didn't before either) so I think it is fine. My negative feedback comes from the coordination between Sela divisions. I had to nag them several times to come out and get the gutters on - they were very quick to get the signs up in the yard to say they were doing the gutter and roof job (nicely putting up 3 signs to really reinforce that this was Sela!), but not so quick to get out there and actually put the gutters on. Again, the roof was up very quickly but we sat gutter less throughout almost all of a very rainy May and June. The story I got was that the communication between the divisions wasn't very smooth and that was annoying because I had to do a lot of maintenance and repair to the landscaping as a result not having gutters.

There were several attempts to diagnose and fix the issue. The third round seems to have solved the problem. However, things did NOT go well the first of and second attempts. The diagnoses were rushed and the proposed fixes did not solve the problem. Disappointed with the results and the overall experience, I called to shared my experience with a manager at Sela. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was forwarded to a person in charge. All I had to do was ask to speak with a manager. No explanation was required. The manger I spoke with was very receptive to my concerns and assured me they would send a supervisor out to my home to fix the problem. A week later, the leak was repaired at no additional cost. Nicely done Sela!

We had the misfortune of needing two roofs over the last two years. The first time we used SELA we just replaced the roof. Everything was done on time and the crew did a great job of cleaning the site when complete. Our sales representative was great. He walked us through the whole process form color selection to the insurance process. Very complete service. The second storm came a year later and damaged the roof again as well as the paint, gutters and fascia. We of cross called SELA and again the same sales rep came and walked us through the process again. Job well done both times.

Sela had someone out to my house within a day or two of calling to provide an estimate. VJ came out and provided the estimate and then we met again when I decided to hire Sela. The shingles priced were a better quality shingle then the current ones (50 years vs 25) and the gutter downspouts recommended were larger than the current ones. VJ helped with suggestions on shingle color and provided information on the shingle company options (Owens Corning or GAF). The next week, the roofers came out and replaced the roof in one day and the dumpster was only in the driveway for one day. The clean up was good (but I still found a few roofing nails). I called VJ a couple of time with questions and he answered his phone right away (no having to leave messages) and was able to answer my questions. I didn't realize the gutters would be done the next week. The team doing the gutters came out and measured one day and completed the work over a couple of days (due to an emergency, they couldn't finish in one day). The clean up from the gutters was not thorough. Found some scraps of metal and gutter. The gutters were very well done and look much better then before and this wasn't a total replacement. No problems passing inspection. This was a good experience and I am happy with the how the new roof and gutters look.

I used Sela after a hailstorm required my roof and gutters to be replaced last fall and they were GREAT! The were very professional and had excellent communications throughout the process, which made the new roof and gutter installation painless. I would recommend Sela to anyone looking for a trustworthy contractor.

Working with Sela was super easy and convenient for me. They were able to come to the house and take measurements for an estimate and I didn't need to be home. I received an estimate within a day of them coming out. Sela was flexible on the project start date, as I wanted to wait about a month before starting the project. Sela handled city permits and the dumpster for all of the debris. There was a team of 4-5 guys that worked for a day and a half to do the tear off, re-decking and re-roofing in less than 48 hours. The roof looked amazing when they were done and my yard was pristine with all the debris and waste thoroughly cleared. Someone was out later in the week to do the rubber membrane and I couldn't even tell they had been there, they worked quickly and kept everything tidy. When I had questions about the project, Sela was very responsive and was always able to answer my questions. I had a great expereience working with them and would definitely recommend them or use them again in the future. High quality results!

They did an excellent job, on time, on budget

We are extremely pleased with the service we received from Sela. The soffit and fascia fell off a section of our roof, and we selected Sela to make the repairs. In the interim, a number of birds moved into the exposed space. The Sela employees who came to our house carefully removed the bird nest inside so we could relocate it. Afterwards, we heard chirping in the roof, and determined there were still baby birds inside that had gone unnoticed earlier. Tom from Sela was on call over the weekend, and was tremendously understanding of our desire to rescue the birds. Our roof was opened again, and ultimately re-sealed when we determined all the baby birds had hatched and moved away. When sealing the roof for the final time, Tom even noticed (and sealed) two other spots on our roof where water could come in - the vent for the sewer line, and the electricity input. We are grateful for Sela's exceptional customer service and would highly recommend them.

The sales person was professional and the crew doing the work did a good job. I was getting my roof replaced due to hail damage. When they took off the old roof, they determined I needed $3k work of decking. My contact told me because it was needed to get up to code, insurance should cover it. If not, I was to get a bill. A month later a sheriff showed up at my door with a lein for my house. Instead of sending me a bill they put in a lein. I have never paid a bill late in my life. I had even left a message for my sales contact asking if they had everything they needed. I found out from my insurance company they had sent them the check and Sela had returned it. They tacked thousands in extra fees. I brought this to an attorney who verified I did everything I was supposed to and there was very shady dealings on behalf of Sela. Beware.

Sela was onsite for 1.5 days with a crew of about 6-7 people. They were extremely professional and very hard working. They paid attention to detail and were extremely careful and kept a very clean and neat work area. They picked up after themselves and made sure there were no staples or debris of any kind left onsite in our lawn or landscape. The workers were polite and would also answer any questions we had. They provided a dumpster that was delivered the day before they started the project and had the dumpster and all of the debris removed the day the project was completed. We have had a number of compliments from neighbors on how nice the shingles look and how neat and clean our project was completed in such a timely fashion. We had asked 3 separate roofing companies for quotes and Sela came in with the most respectable price. We would recommend Sela if you are planning on replacing a roof in the near future.

Shingles were replaced in a hurry and apparently with little or no supervision. The crew did not speak english and just left with no attempt to show me what they had done. In the morning it became apparent that the roof did not look smooth with lots of undulations on it. The gutter has been put back partially and on several areas it had been dented due to being stepped on. My repeated calls and messages went nowhere. The only returned calls were from salesperson who promised that someone would contact me soon (no one did). In the summer apparently some had come to push the gutter on one side to its place with no success and left and sent me a note later that as far they are concerned the problem has been addressed!

went very well. I left out of town after the roofers de shingled the roof and neighbors stated they were done at noon. Granted I have a small house but still that is pretty fast. Would use them again, BUT hopefully I want have to. (meaning the roof will last)

It was great. Nice guys, good clean up and very respectful of our property and shrubs.

All he did was put a piece of tape over part of the vent in the hood of the exhaust fan. I think their follow up is flawed and I think someone should come back out and fix my fan. I don?t feel like they are finished with that particular job. When they were working on my roof, they left materials all over the ground. I had to rent a magnetic sweeper to pick up the nails and everything they left. They did however reimburse me for that, but I don?t think I should have gone out and done that in the first place. They also got my bill wrong. Overall, I think they did a good job but I was a little frustrated along the way. Before any work on my roof was done, I asked the salesman that came by if any of the workers would have to use the bathroom because my downstairs bathroom was out of commission. He said ?oh no, they won?t do that?. The very first day one of the workers came and asked to use the bathroom, the only one available was my personal bathroom upstairs, which I was uncomfortable with but I let him anyways. I did think that all the workers that came out were very hard working and appreciate the work they put into the job.

They did a great job. There was a minor screw up that became major. The exhaust cap and the vent was the wrong size that causes to block the vent and cause a major problem. They responded quickly and took out all the installation which had been soaked with water. They cleaned up the attic and they've also committed to cleaning up some water spills that resulted. They were very prompt and didn't charge us for anything. Accidents happen and we were pleased that they responded so quickly and didn't give us some any arguments; which were pretty much caused by them. They worked for the insurance company so we didn't end up paying a lot actually.

The whole process went very smoothly. The sales rep was very thorough in explaining every detail on how they do the roof. My husband has been in construction for 30 years and liked what the sales rep was telling us. Some our leaking problems were from vents and we decided to have those vents removed and a new ridge vent put in instead. We also decided to get new larger capacity gutters. They were able to schedule the work when we wanted. The crew arrived on time and did a stellar job even though it was a very hot day. They did a great job of cleaning up and checking with me before they left to see if I thought everything looked good. Later we noticed the front gutter needed a little adjustment and Sela came out right away and took care of it. We would definitely use them again.

Our Sela experience was excellent in every regard. Our Sela sales representative went the extra mile to work with our insurance claims adjuster to get us the best possible replacement value for our siding. The crew that did our siding work was top notch. Their work was professional and timely. We couldn't be happier with our Sela experience.

I was a repeat customer. I would definately recommend Sela to everyone and plan to call them in the future if I need them. Professional, polite, no-pressure, knowledgable, clean , prompt and finished as planned. Excellent Work! 5 stars!

They were great and I like the promptness, cleanliness and quality of work. I didn't have any dislikes. They did everything I asked them to do.

Over all the job went well. There were some delays due to the bad weather we had in May. There was also a delay because the insulation for the siding was not ordered with the siding. The installers were great. They did a nice job with the installation and were very friendly. The house looks like new.

We used Sela for gutters and they were awesome, but their window department is something to be desired. We dealt with the supposed "Boss" of the window department and he was terrible. First he kept rescheduling the appointment and insisted they be the last bid. He fed me some story about a deal they had going on that was ending soon. After I told him that we could not meet until after the deal was over, he then said he would be able to extend it. So was the deal really ending?? He showed up on time but throughout the whole appointment he was very condescending. We live in an 87 year old house and try to keep everything authentic whenever possible. When we mentioned we wanted wood interior in the living room windows, he rudely said, "What do you want wood for, then you have to maintain it!" What?!?! We couldn't get a color match on some other windows and his suggestion was for us to repaint all the trim. We asked about financing and he asked us why we would want to finance because financing can be expensive. Towards the end of the appointment we said we had to think about it and harshly said, "What's there to think about!!" He didn't even give a written estimate. It was like he gave us a price off the top of his head. He didn't seem to care about what we wanted or tried to meet hour needs. His whole attitude was "Hurry up and buy from me". They ended up being the lowest bid, but you get what you pay for. We didn't feel their vinyl windows were of good quality. Per Sela's website they sell other top brand windows but the salesmen never mentioned that as an option. If you are concerned about lead, and most window companies will test for it, Sela's test is a joke. Basically a q-tip rubbed on the window frame and put in plastic bag which is a method commonly used, but real testing should be done with an x-ray gun designed for lead testing. We ended up going with another company that took the time to listen to our needs and didn't ridicule us for what we wanted.

They came in with several feet of snow on the ground and very cold temperatures. They protected the interior of our house and minimized the amount heat loss while they were working. We have over thirty windows in our house and they were all replaced in a day and a half.
