Description of Work: Removed 2 feet of chimney bricks. Replaced bricks & mortar. Finished top with an over hanging cut stone crown to get the crown to get the water away from the brick work. New concrete caps.

Description of Work: They rebuilt the part of the chimney that extends above the roof. The chimney looks beautiful. They were able to work in the job on fairly short notice, it needed to be done before our new roof is installed. Very professional.

Description of Work: We had this company bid on the work. Their solution used a metal cap and their price was 40 percent higher than the other company. They seemed very knowledgeable and came out for a quote very promptly.

I did not use this contractor.
Description of Work: Bid was for time plus material, but was so vague that Minneapolis permit office could not provide the cost for a permit, nor could they find a city license for this contractor. I checked with the State of MN and learned that this contractor's license had expired in 1994. Angie's List stated "no travel charges", but this contractor wanted to charge me for 45 minutes travel per day even though they are located only 5 minutes from my home, according to Map Quest. When I asked about this, I was told that travel time included "loading."

JOHN WAS QUICK IN GIVING AN ESTIMATE. I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED THAT I WAS THERE FOR THE ESTIMATE (HE DID A DRIVEBY) SO WE COULD HAVE DISCUSSED THE OPTIONS FOR MY CHIMNEY REPAIR. THE CREW DID GOOD WORK, BUT WERE UNABLE TO FINISH ON THE FIRST DAY THAT THEY CAME OUT. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD BE BACK IN 2-3 DAYS TO FINISH, IT TOOK 1.5 WEEKS! I ENDED UP HAVING A SCAFFOLD IN MY YARD FOR 1.5 WEEKS UNTIL THEY RETURNED TO FINISH, WHICH CONCERNED ME AS I HAVE MANY KIDS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT COULD HAVE CLIMBED IT, HURTING THEMSELVES, ETC. I ACTUALLY HAD TO CALL THEM TO GET THEM TO FINISH, AS THEY HAD GONE ON TO OTHER JOBS & SEEMED TO HAVE FORGOTTEN ME. I ALSO HAD TO REMIND THEM TO DO THE TUCKPOINTING & POINTED OUT MANY MISSED SPOTS. THE CHIMNEY LOOKS GOOD, BUT OVERALL I AM DISAPPOINTED IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH MOHLER. THE OWNER IS A NICE, KNOWLEDGEABLE GUY, & HE RETURNED CALLS, BUT GETTING THE JOB DONE AS PROMISED TOOK FAR TOO LONG & TOO MANY FOLLOW-UP CALLS ON MY PART. FOR THE PRICE, THE SERVICE SHOU
Description of Work: REBUILT APPROX. 4 FEET OF CHIMNEY (TOP PORTION), WHICH WAS LEANING SLIGHTLY AND HAD MISSING MORTAR. THEY MATCHED NEW BRICK TYPE AND COLOR TO OLD BRICK. INSTALLED NEW CHIMNEY CAP AND TUCKPOINTED.

MOHLER WAS VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY PHONE CALLS AND SEEMED QUITE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND TRUTHFUL IN RESPONDING TO ALL MY QUESTIONS. BACK IN AUGUST GAVE ME A STARTING TIME OF MID-SEPTEMBER, WHICH WAS ACCURATE. TEAM WAS ON SITE FOR 4 DAYS AND PICKED UP AFTER THE END OF EACH DAY.
Description of Work: CHIMNEY REPAIR ON THREE STORY HOUSE. REBUILT THE CHIMNEY ABOVE THE ROOF-LINE, TOOTHED-OUT AND ESSENTIALLY REBUILT THE SHOULDER SECTION ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND, STONE CAPPED THE TOP AND THE SHOULDER.

KEVIN AND CHAD ACTUALLY DID THE WORK AND WERE PUNCTUAL AND VERY PERSONABLE. THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO COMPLETE THE WORK ON ONE DAY DUE TO WEATHER AND HAD THE CHIMNEY ALL WRAPPED UP. THEY TOOK GOOD CARE OF THE SURROUNDING ROOF AND GUTTERS. THEY FINISHED THE NEXT DAY AND THE CHIMNEY LOOKED GREAT AND THE BUYER LIKED THE WORK.
Description of Work: OUR CHIMNEY'S BRICKS WERE LOOSE. WE WERE SELLING OUR HOME AND AGREED TO HAVE THE CHIMNEY REPAIRED AND IMPROVED AS PART OF THE SALE. JOHN SUBMITTED A BID OF $1495 TO TAKE THE CHIMNEY APART ABOUT 2 FEET DOWN AND RE-MORTAR, WITH ADDITIONAL CHARGES OF $45 PER COVERED SCREEN AND $10 PER FOOT OF LINER REQUIRED. THEY WERE ABLE TO COME OUT WITHIN ONE TO TWO DAYS AFTER WE AGREED TO ACCEPT THEIR BID.
