Mohler Chimney Repair

This company and their crew have a very good reputation and the crew has been with the company for many years. I got this referral from a family member who was very happy with chimney work done. Mohler Chimney Repair did a quality job. We compared the top of our chimney with neighbors around us, and we can definitely tell that our chimney is quality workmanship. They covered and protected the roof and shrubs while the work was being done. The extra bricks used matched very well with the existing bricks. We would definitely hire them again and recommend that to anyone wishing to brickwork done.

I contacted John Mohler for a bid on a chimney rebuild from the roof line up. From the beginning John, (the owner) was very pleasant and helpful. Since I don t know much about Chimney s or different chimney caps he was quick to give me addresses where he had previously worked. On the day construction began the workers arrived on time, they covered all windows and doors and worked quickly to remove the old chimney. The entire project took 2 days and the work was performed expertly and without delay. The guys doing the work were very pleasant and obviously skilled. I would highly recommend Mohler Chimney Repair. The cost was slightly higher than other bids but I am very happy I chose them.

I talked to many chimney repair companies and got the feeling that they were all trying to make the job bigger than it needed to be. John Mohler gave me a fair, honest bid that involved much less work than some of the other outfits. He had pictures and addresses from my area so I could check his work. The workers from Mohler were fast, efficient and competent. They went out of their way to protect my flower gardens and cleaned up well when they were through. There's no wonder Mohler Chimney is at the top of Angie's List.

John was prompt in responding to our request for an estimate. The process was very straight forward and smooth. The work was great and we were billed upon project completion.

They were very responsive and the skill level was very noticeable. There was a lot of extra effort on their part to match the brick color, which they did superbly. They were a joy to work with.

Estimate we received very thorough regarding work to be done and techniques and materials to be used, and thorough regarding the amount of time different stages of work would require down to the time needed to install and disassemble scaffolding. Other jobs and rainy conditions postponed our work, but our work was still done at optimal season to avoid problems with freezing. Despite the amount of repair needed and number of bricks missing, the chimney was fixed so salvageable existing bricks could be re-used as much as possible, and new materials blended well with existing as much as possible.

The job went very well. The work was done quickly and the workmanship was excellent. The new chimney brick looks exactly like the preexisting chimney brick. They found some defects in the pre-existing workmanship on the chimney that was leading to some of out leakage problems during rainstorms. With their help and recommendations for other contractors, we were able to fix our problems.

John Mohler, the owner, came out to give me an estimate and explanation of the work that needed to be done. Very professional and knowledgeable. Gave me a bid, which I accepted, and his team began the work one week later. Finished in a day and a half as promised. The old crumbling brick was replaced with ''new'' old brick and I can't even tell where the old chimney and the new chimney meet. Looks great, the workers were very nice, and they left the work site clean. I am very pleased and would use them again.

Although we had to wait for a month for Mohler to complete the work, we felt it was worth the wait. The crew came over one afternoon, put up their scaffolding, and tore down the chimney. The next day, they worked from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and completed the job. They were careful to place the scaffolding far enough away from our front door so that we could get out in the event of a fire or other hazard. They were also very careful to protect our roof and our freshly painted house, trim, and shrubs. They re-used as many bricks as they could, and the ones that needed to be replaced matched almost perfectly. The mortar also was an extremely close match. About a week later, another worker came over and put on the clad metal top. Our only complaints would be very small: the screws used to hold the clad top in place don't match the color we chose; and there was some dust left on our front storm door and underneath the overhang that we needed to clean ourselves. Otherwise, we were very happy.

This problem is fairly common in Minneapolis. We had five different companies come around for estimates. Mohler came back with the highest bid we received, but in the end we just felt better going with them and they were the only company that gave us options, instead of simply telling us what they were going to do. We waited a few weeks to get them scheduled, but it was well worth the wait and once they began, they worked very quickly. They provided a selection of brick to match our existing brick, they took the effort matched the gentle slope of the sides of the existing chimney, replicated the detail work at the top. The crew was polite, efficient, accommodating and professional. The job looks so good, we regret not having had the entire chimney done, instead of the top 10 feet.

I left a message for John, who in turn called me back right away, but I wasn't there to answer. I, in fact, didn't return his call for about 1.5 weeks, but then called him again, and he was kind enough to refer me to someone that is a one man job and does this kind of work. I really do appreciate when people refer other people vs just saying, "sorry, I don't know."

Overall a great experience. John gave a very professional estimate. All work to be done was clearly described. When I asked for examples of his work, he provided six addresses within one mile of my house. I appreciated his concern for my time and gas. The job was completed on the date scheduled. The workers (Kevin and Rick) were great. They did excellent work, were careful of my property, answered all my questions, and did a great job of cleanup. I would definitely hire this firm again.

Courteous. Kept us informed. Gave us options. Great service.

On time, polite, work site safely set up, job done as specified. Seemed expensive (everything does), but that was worth it to me: the job was done right.

I HAD SCHEDULED A COMPLETE ROOF REPAIR AND 2 WEEKS BEFORE THEY WERE TO START, MY CHIMNEY LEAKED AFTER A HEAVY RAIN. I CALLED MOHLER CHIMNEY REPAIR I HAD AN ESTIMATE IN TWO DAYS. I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION TO THE OWNER JOHN AND THE JOB WAS COMPLETED BEFORE THE ROOFERS ARRIVED. THE JOB LASTED 1.5 DAYS AND THE CREW WAS VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY CLEANED UP THE YARD AFTER BOTH DAYS. THE CHIMNEY LOOKS GREAT!

JOHN WAS VERY POLITE AND ALWAYS RETURNED MY CALLS PROMPTLY. HE WAS ABLE TO WORK WITHIN THE TIMEFRAME WE NEEDED DUE TO A GAS FIREPLACE INSERT INSTALLATION SCHEDULED FOR THE END OF SEPTEMBER. THEY WERE ABLE TO MATCH THE COLOR OF THE EXISTING BRICK VERY WELL. WE NEVER HAD CONTACT WITH THE WORKERS, BUT THEY LEFT THE SITE CLEAN AT THE END OF THE DAY. THEIR BID WAS A BIT HIGHER THAN THE OTHERS WE RECEIVED, BUT THE RECOMMENDATIONS WE READ ON ANGIE'S LIST SEEMED TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE WORTH IT.

ON TIME, VERY EFFICIENT & POLITE& NEAT, EXCELLENT CLEAN UP. BEST EXPERIENCED WORK MEN, AND SUPERVISION. FAIR PRICE.

JOHN CAME OUT AND DID AN ESTIMATE, HAD TO MATCH SOME VERY OLD BRICK, ITS NEARLY A PERFECT MATCH. THE WORK WAS DONE QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY AND I HAVE RECEIVED MANY COMPLIMENTS ON THE LOOK. I REALLY LIKE DEALING WITH AN OWNER, AS IT'S HIS NAME AND REPUTATION ON THE LINE, SO EVERYTHING GETS DONE CORRECTLY. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MOHLER.

MOHLER WAS THE FASTEST TO RESPOND OUT OF THE COMPANIES I TALKED TO. THEY SENT ME AN ESTIMATE WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF TALKING TO THEM AND EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD. IN THE END IT WAS A TOSS UP BUT I WENT WITH ANOTHER COMPANY BECAUSE THEY PROPOSED SAVING ABOUT $250 BY REBUILDING ONLY THE TOP TWO FEET AND REPAIRING THE REST.
