Mohler Chimney Repair

John Mohler and his crew do excellent work. Appreciate the choices of brick to match the house and the flat stones on top of the chimney to stop water from running down the outside of the chimney and deteriorating the brick and mortar.

Immediately upon discovering the cracking in my chimney, John Mohler came out to wrap my chimney to prevent further damage during the winter. He came out as soon as it was warm enough to use mortar and rebuilt my chimney. I appreciated his responsiveness, honesty, and expertise. They found brick that would compliment the look of my home, and he had some senior members of his staff do the work for me. I would highly recommend them.

Our chimney had been covered in vines and when we removed them we discovered the chimney was in need of repair. A neighbor had very good things to say about Mohler so we asked for an estimate and it seemed reasonable so we gave them a try. It was interesting watching them work. They removed several rows (10-15, I think) from the top of the chimney, carefully placing the existing bricks into a bucket and lowering them to another crew member. They re-used most of the original brick and they did a great job matching the style and color of the few that needed replacing. The mortar color was also an excellent match. When the work was done it was difficult to tell where the original left off and the repair/replacement work had been done. Most impressive. I'd recommend Mohler to our friends, neighbors, and Angie's List members.

He came out and looked over the chimney and agreed that the chimney needed to be rebuilt. He shrink wrapped the chimney to try to keep it from leaking more. He will be coming back out in the spring to fix the chimney. He was professional and very trusting on the phone.

We were extremely satisfied with their work. They were here when they said they would be, and they did good work. The tuck-pointing was straight. They were able to match the brick where they needed to replace a little bit, which was no easy task because this house was built in 1925 or 26. We will definitely call them for some additional work we want done.

There hasn't been any start much less a finish yet!

They were all pretty expensive repairs. I rate them high overall. I will use them again in the future. They were fantastic. I highly recommend them. They were extremely professional and very easy to do business with. The crew was phenomenal not only in their work but also in listening to us and respecting the neighbors. They cleaned up exceptionally well. They were here early, and they did a fantastic job.

Great. The house is 100 years old and the chimney needed to be rebuilt. They were very prompt, quick and professional. John gave us a great price for the work and answered all our questions. This year we called him for information and advice on putting in a fireplace and he very generously gave of his time and expertise to let us know what would be possible.

John personally came out and looked at our chimney and walked me through exactly what he thought would need to be done. A day later I had an estimate. Mohler Chimney's price was very competitive, not the cheapest, but a very happy middle. Two weeks later a three man crew completed the job in just an afternoon. Very professional, taking time to make sure everything on the roof and the yard was protected. They even told us to close our car windows so that when they were cutting brick, dust didn't get inside. When they were done you couldn't even tell someone had been there, other than our brand new looking chimney!

Chimney was crumbling and needed to be rebuilt. I called after hours thinking I would get voice mail...instead call was answered by John Mohler. Very pleased with job and chimney looks great.

Perfect. Estimate was done promptly and professionally. Price was great. Workman showed up a couple of weeks early to verify our choice of brick and go over the job. Job was done impeccably and was completed with absolutely no mess. The chimney is stunning. We had a chimney sweep here to clean the interior of the fireplace after Mohler had completed their work. The chimney sweep asked if we'd just had our chimney re-done and if we'd had Mohler Chimney do the work! He said he can always spot a Mohler job--because they are always done so beautifully and everything is perfect, inside and out, like "no one else's work". On the interior, the previous owners of our house had cut a large, unsightly hole in the stone wall surrounding our fireplace. We didn't know what kind of stone it was, but thought it might be granite. John Mohler immediately upon looking at it knew it was Tennessee Marble. The marble was ordered and he cut the pieces and installed them -which in essence was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, as the fireplace wall has a pattern of various sized pieces. It is now restored to it's former glory; no one would ever know it has been "patched". Even the mortar was tinted and looks exactly like the original surrounding it. Perfect job.

When I called Mohler, I was told that John will call me back to set up an appointment. John didn't call me back in about a week, so I called again. This time, John showed up immediately. After examining the chimney, John sent me an estimate via mail. I didn't hire Mohler because the price quoted was more than 50% higher than another repairer.

After looking at the chimney, John gave me information and several choices on how the best work could be done at the least expense. The workmen did a good job, and were friendly. They cleaned up well, and left a few extra, matching bricks. When I received the bill, John had given me a discount for being an Angie's List member.

We had a long lasting problem with the chimney and I have got it fixed many times over the last 8 years. Mr. Mohler told us not to repair it but replace it. He went an extra mile to give us suggestions. He has all the choices and I went to his house to select what I wanted. He is a very nice person. He is the kind of person with whom you do business with a handshake. His staff was very punctual, they used the resources very well and they were very careful with the work. They covered things so that the house doesn't get dirty while doing the work. They were very tidy.

We were very pleased with the work. The bid was done very timely and was competitive with others. We selected this firm primarily based on personal chemistry. They did the chimney work as scheduled, very quickly and cleaned up well. The timing was important because we had a roofing project scheduled and needed to have the chimney done prior to that. At a later date they returned and did some additional masonry work on our foundation that had nothing to do with the chimney project. That project went well once they were reminded about the job - apparently the work order was misplaced and we had to call to see if they were going to do it. There had been no set date - just whenever there was an opportunity in their schedule!

John came the Sunday after I called. He checked my brick wall and said, it was structural sound. That was not the problem, what materials to buy. I was so appreciative of his honesty. He could have replaced the wall & I wouldn't have been any wiser.

There services themselves were excellent. They returned the first phone call right away. They came out within 24 hours. They had a bid ready when he said. He matched the brick in the chimney on the fireplace and he made the smaller chimney the exact pattern of the larger chimney without me asking. They are friendly and courteous.

The estimate came, we decided on his service and called to schedule the work. The workmen came about 1 week latter than stated, spent 4 hours on the job (3 men), cleaned up and left.

Mohler provided the most professional, typed up estimate. It was clear what was included and what was not. He did not specify a warranty. Some of the other masons did. The prices were all in the same range. They responded promptly to my request for a proposal and provided the estimate in a timely and professional manner. There was no follow up call on the estimate. If I had additional mason work, I would bring them out to estimate.

We needed a chimney repair quote. I called Mohler Chimney, and they came out the same day to check it out. The quote was about what I expected, but we decided to hold off for a while on having the work done. When I called back he was courteous, honest and understanding. I will definitely call them when we are ready for the work.

Excellent! John fixed the damper when he came out to give estimate and didn't demand payment. He allowed for time to think about the other estimate (repair the chimney cap and bricks). No pressure service.
