Response from Jack Pixley Sweeps Inc
Company Response: I appreciate that the Member wanted an estimate for free. When our company goes out to assess a chimney and it's repair needs, we do not just do a visual inspection, give our opinion and an estimate and walk away. We do extensive work to look at not just the exterior of the chimney, but the internal workings of the chimney as well. We want to make sure that the chimney is operating as it was intended. If there are cracked tiles we address that issue as well. We also look at the firebox and smoke chamber area to make sure that they are still structuraly sound. We give the chimney a full "check up", to ensure that it will work as it was intended. We also make sure to inform homeowners that if they accept our proposal, the money that they invested in choosing our company, to come out and assess the entire scope of the chimney is credited back to them upon completion of the repair. Our company has been charging for repair estimates for as long as we can remember and we believe that you are getting better service and a more honest assessment from a company that is willing to charge you for that up front. We follow the tips of the BBB, they set forth in "what goes into a service call." All of our technicians are Certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America. We take the safety of our homeowners very seriously and are not out to make a quick buck. We believe in doing quality work that follows the codes of the IRC and the NFPA 211. In order to ensure that our customers are getting the best for their money, we choose to charge for these services. We did not tell tell his wife to call back to talk to someone else, reather we offered to allow her to talk to the owner about our policy. She did not feel that was necessary and chose not to do that.
