+ -1 moreFANTASTIC. The in home assessment and written estimate were accurate and extremely professional. They called to confirm 1-2 days before the move (which was important - we were moving on a Sunday and had a total of 24 hours because of the closing/move schedule of all the households involved). The experience the day of the move was great - I felt like I was in good hands throughout.
Description of Work: I've moved A LOT (I even worked for a moving company that my father managed when I was in my teens), and this was the best move EVER! The team was extremely professional, brought extra equipment for our move (for which we were not charged extra), and managed to get several large and cumbersome pieces into our (new) 1927 Craftsman home with no damage to the furniture (and minimal bumps and scrapes to the walls). It was one of the hottest days on record for October, and these guys worked like dogs without a complaint. They started at 8 am and finished around 4 (which was remarkable, given the amount of furniture we have). After working the whole day, they even offered to move furniture around in our house if we decided we wanted it on a different floor. I've been recommending them to everyone I know who's planning a local move.

+ -1 moreThe move went smoothly from my end. I was told that the piano would be moved after the movers got done with their first shift, estimated to be late morning or early afternoon. I called the company around 2:30 to see whether anyone was on their way. I was told the first shift crew had just returned from a job and would be leaving shortly. The piano arrived around 3:30. I would have liked to have had a more accurate time frame so that I wouldn't have wasted my day waiting. However, the movers were friendly and efficient and took care not to mar the surface of the piano or damage the wood flooring in my home. I thought that when they did get here, they did a great job.
Description of Work: A spinet (small upright) piano was moved from another residence about 3 miles away to my residence.

+ -1 moreWe've used Bester several times in the past and have always been very impressed with their care of our furniture and on-time service. This time we were a little less impressed. We had arranged for them to arrive between 8-9:00 a.m. with a four person crew. They were there on time, and friendly and professional as ever, but there were only three movers, which we later found out included a supervisor who mostly did inventory. Essentially we had a two man crew and the move took most of the day, instead of being done in the morning. The move out went relatively well with only a few wall scuffs, but it took a lot longer than anticipated. The bill was adjusted to reflect the number of movers, but there could have been major problems had we not had an open ended move out day.
Description of Work: Move household to Bester warehouse for storage, pending re-move to new house a month later.

+ -1 moreThe initial bid process was very thorough and our estimator that visited our home Lynn (male) was nice and very professional. Before he left, he gave us an estimated time and estimated cost. Overall, we weren't that impressed, considering the price we paid. What bugged me is how they wrapped up the job, or didn't for that matter. No one bothered to ask if there was anything else that needed to be done prior to departure. It seemed as though they all snuck out of the house without saying a word. NOT ONE WORD. Not even, "We're finished." Once most of the guys were finished the other 2 seemed to be rushing to get out of our house. With the lack of any 'closure', we felt as though perhaps they were hiding something from us. So, we were left feeling suspicious of them. Not a positive way to end an expensive job.
Description of Work: We hired 6 men and 2 trucks to move us from a 3BR home to a nearby larger 3BR town home. There were 3 levels in both places, so there were lots of stairs, which we made a specific point in telling the estimator. Unfortunately, the estimator never revealed this quick, but informative piece of information, so the guys seemed disappointed when they found out there were lots of stairs. Upon arrival, the guys knew almost right away that they would be finished with the job way ahead of schedule. We thought so too, as their competitor bid the job at 7 hours, verses the 12 hours Bester Brothers/Lynn quoted us. It was good to know how long they thought it would take, but we were still being charged hourly, so the cost would reflect the actual time. This significant difference was partly due to us preparing more that had anticipated, and an overestimate. The job took exactly 7 hours, from 8:30am - 3:30pm. A couple of items were broken, of which they informed us of and compensated us for.

When their representative came to my daughter's apartment to give an estimate, he observed a truck ( NOT Bestor's!) back into my daughter's parked car. He kindly stayed to provide support and evidence to the police, which was greatly appreciated.
Description of Work: Moved furniture, boxes, washer and dryer. They reconnected the washer/dryer and placed furniture.

The piece was moved with extreme care and efficiency. I was very pleased with the job they did. I will plan on using them for any local moving needs in the future.

They were careful in the way they handled everything during the move, including minding the walls in our new house, and even took apart and reassembled our bed for us. They arrived on time in the morning and worked so efficiently that they finished the move more than two hours ahead of the estimate. Since we paid by the hour, that meant a big savings for us. They were also very fair about how they calculated the amount of time it took them to drive to and from their location to our old address and back from our new address. Be sure to ask for the Angie's List price;we got the weekday rate for a weekend move, another big savings for us.
Description of Work: Except for a few odds and ends that we moved later by ourselves, they moved all of our furniture and other possessions (including about 100 boxes of books) from a three-bedroom house to a four-bedroom house. The move did not include any appliances.

There were three movers who did the actual work. Two of them were responsive to my requests and had a friendly attitude. However, the third mover seemed irritated and cranky when I asked him to move boxes to another room. Granted, the weather was hot and humid on the move day, which didn't make it any easier for the movers to climb multiple stairs.
Description of Work: I met with the contact at Bester Brothers who did a walk through of my house. I identified what items needed to be moved and received a rough verbal estimate, later followed with a written estimate. Bester Brothers provided 25 boxes and packing paper to me prior to my move. They confirmed my move date and time a couple of days in advance. The movers showed up on time and actually spent four hours total moving time verses the estimated nine hours due to the smaller volume of items to be moved.

+ -1 moreLynn, the estimator was very polite and was very thorough with his estimate. He gave me tips to make moving day go smoother. Our three movers arrived and were very polite at the door. We were VERY impressed at their professionalism and patience in any situation. These guys had to truck up and down stairs many times and always had a smile on their faces. I really appreciated how they constantly worked with little breaks and even ate their lunch in the truck on the way over to our new property. We figured they would be stopping on the way! Our men got our job done 15 minutes before the scheduled end time. We really think a lot of Bester Bros for matching any tips that customers give. We tipped generously as we felt our men deserved it! I highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: Moved the contents of our townhouse to our new house in Burnsville. We had a lot of stairs to go up and down with the boxes and furniture.

Everything, and I mean everything, happened exactly as John said it would. They were under the estimate by 1/2 hour, and he delivered the boxes, paper and tape promptly. They came right on time on moving day and carried our 350 boxes by hand to the truck so they would not damage our floors in both homes. They handled the furniture with care. They did an EXCELLENT job from beginning to end.

+ -1 moreThe two men, Joe and Josh, arrived on time and introduced themselves at the door. They worked quickly and carefully, being careful with both my furniture and the walls and woodwork. The sofa move was particularly tight, and they remained patient and diligent. It was like solving a puzzle to get it out the door. They figured it out and got it done in spite of its weight. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: I needed some large furniture moved among some rooms of my house. Specifically, I needed a queen size box spring moved upstairs and assembled with the mattress. Also, I needed a large, heavy sofa moved and a large chair moved between 2 rooms. My house is old with narrow door openings and several turns.

+ -1 moreWe have relocated 8 times and have our share of nightmare stories. However, I must say that the experience with Bester Brothers was very different from the typical nationally known "chains." Both crews moved a large amount of household goods, some of which was quite tricky, without even a scratch to either home. They were polite, punctual, and seemed very concerned that we were satisfied with the experience. We did have two small items that did get broken. One was noticed early in the original loading and was already repaired by delivery. The other (a small glass shelf), needed replacement, and they ordered the replacement the same day. Overall, I have not experienced a better moving experience.
Description of Work: Local move and 4 months of trailer storage for a home of approximately 4000 square feet.
