Description of Work: My Central A/C unit and my furnace were both original equipment and 18 years old. My A/C unit was no longer keeping up, it was time to replace it, so I elected to replace the Central AC unit and the furnace at the same time, since the average life for an AC unit is 16 years, and 18-20 for a furnace. I was seeking a high efficiency pairing by the same manufacturer, in this case Carrier, becuase selecting units that are designed to work in tandem will increase the overall efficiency of both. Gary stopped in at the appointed time for a review of various options and I settled on the best pairing in terms of effciency and cost. The installers arrived on time and completed all the installation in one day. On overall very professional experience. And my electricity bill for August dropped by 50% !!

+ -1 moreIn January 2006, my mother had been staying with me. On a Saturday I checked on her home to find that her furnace was not working. I called several places, and Quality Heating and Air Service was the only company to respond. Jim, the repairman, came out within three hours and diagnosed and fixed the problem. He was a real life saver on that cold weekend. This was the only company offering emergency service, which actually answered the phone. He kept me informed of his schedule and the arrival time, and was very prompt and helpful.
Description of Work: The furnace was not working. He replaced a bad gas valve.

While the company seems eager and available, I don't think they have enough experience to provide anything but the most basic radon remediation. If your basement is unfinished and you have no plans for finishing it, and you don't care if you have a pipe running up the entire outside of your house, these guys would be fine--but the absence of a written quote bothered me, too. We are pickier about how our house looks inside and out, however, and will be looking for a contractor who can fix the radon in a more aesthetically pleasing way.
Description of Work: I called Quality Heating for a radon reduction quote. They were very responsive and showed up within hours of my call. The technician's recommendations for ''fixes'' to the problem, however, showed that he had little experience installing systems that didn't show on the walls of the basement and/or the outside walls. When I asked if he could install a system inside the walls or ceilings, he seemed at a loss for information. He did not provide me with a written estimate or description of his recommendations, either.
