Jim was personable, methodical, experienced, creative and efficient, all while treating me very well, and teaching me things for my maintenance mechanic to include on his normal maintenance routine. We will be very happy to use Quality Heating & Air Service Inc for all of our work from now on out.
Description of Work: My previous service provider apparently went out of business an d we were scrambling to get my commercial AC unit for the warehouse working after it stopped on a hot day, and it was needed for production in the morning. No one we called was able to make the time to come in the late afternoon... but Jim of Quality Heating & Air Service Inc did, and gut us up and running quickly.

The induction assembly started to make a horrible noise (sounded like bearings going bad). This was on a Saturday morning, and of course on one the coldest mornings. I called Quality to have them check it out. They came when they said they would (45 minutes after I called) and confirmed it was the bearings. Given that it was a Saturday, he said he couldn't get a replacement unit until Monday morning, so he worked with the existing unit to oil the bearings and work with the unit to get it to a "stable" condition to last me the next couple of days. The repair alone did wonders and held as he said it would until they could come back with a replacement unit. They called on Monday morning and said they had the part and could come install it any time I was ready. They were there in about 30 minutes. The entire installation took less than an hour. Everyone I have dealt with at Quality has been very friendly, and professional.

We used this company in our old home to replace a bad Acoil. We moved this spring and during some recent hot days, found a puddle of water under the furnace. After a repair call (Gary) to inspect the unit and figure out what was going on, decided we needed to replace vs. repair a 20 year old system. Gary was great, knew a lot and willing to show us and talk us through in detail what was going on. The staff got us scheduled in quickly, and made recommendations to maximize our ROI and also fully utilize rebates to our advantage. They arrived when they said they'd arrive and were very professional and courteous. Mark and his staff were fabulous! They were very, very courteous to our family when they were here working and Mark spent a lot of time walking us through the new system, even helping us program the new digital thermostat system. Hopefully we won't need them again anytime soon since we just purchased a new system, but if we do, we're calling them. They were great to work with and could not say enough about how nice and accommodating they were to us. Thank you!

First call end of June 2013, they said we needed a new evaporator coil. Service call $88. Second call they replaced the evaporator coil $951. Third call a couple weeks later A/C not cooling. They found another leak. Fourth call a couple weeks later A/C not cooling. They found another leak. This spring A/C not cooling. This time they decided the leak could only be in the pipe going from the A/C to the furnace which in our house runs under a cement slab. I was told by the repairman that it would probably run about $800-900, but the office would email me a quote. A week later the quote cam in at $1,865. I let them know that we were disappointed in their service and quote. We feel that they had no idea what they were doing and never found the original leak. The company I did call found the evaporator coils full of water and leaking.

Response from Quality Heating & Air Service Inc
On 6/25/2013 (member name removed) called Quality Heating & Air Services and reported that the air conditioning at her residents was not cooling. The following day 6/26/2014 a Quality Heating technician arrived at her home and used his gauges and found that the system was empty of refrigerant, he then proceeded to use an electronic refrigerant detector and found leaks in the evaporator coil (A-Coil). The home owner was informed of the problem given a proposal which she accepted on the repair of the system. On 6/27/2013: A Quality Heating technician returned to (member name removed) home and performed the agreed to repair. He completed the evaporator replacement, then pressurized the system to check for leaks and when none were found, he charged and tested the system which was working correctly. This replacement evaporator Coil has a 10 year warranty against manufactures defects and Quality Heating has a one year labor warranty. 7/7/2013: A Quality Heating technician returned when (member name removed) reported that the system was not cooling. He pressurized the system and using his electronic refrigerant detector found NO leaks at the evaporator coil, but did find that the valve cores were loose, so he replaced both valves and charged and checked the system and found no leaks. There was no charge for this service. 7/11/2013: A Quality Heating technician returned when (member name removed)reported that the system was not cooling. He pressurized the system and using his electronic refrigerant detector found NO leaks at the evaporator coil, but did find a leak at the outdoor condensing coil, he brazed the leak, pressurized, and charged the system with refrigerant he then checked the system for leaks, none were found. Once again there was no charge for this service. 6/2/14: A Quality Heating technician returned when (member name removed) reported that the system was not cooling. He pressurized the system and using his electronic refrigerant detector found NO leaks at the evaporator coil, or condenser coil. Technician did notice that the line set that carries the refrigerant inside of the house runs into a pipe and below the grade (picture attached) , he check the pipe with his meter and detected refrigerant present at the line set, which is not accessible. He also noticed that other line sets in the development (picture attached) had been changed and had been rerouted up the side of the townhome and into the house, therefore eliminating the below grade issue. He then informed (member name removed) that a quote to replace this line would be sent to her and gave a ball park estimate of the cost. The information was returned to the office were the time and material for an estimate were put together and sent to (member name removed), she never responded to our quote. The next time we heard from (member name removed) was a complaint form from Angie’s List. She stated that a different company came in and said the coil was bad and there was water at the coil. If the evaporator coil was defective (we found no leak present when we were there) there was a 10 year warranty on it and the company that removed and replaced it could had the coil replaced under warranty. If (member name removed) ran the system when it was low on refrigerant it could have frozen the coil and it could have caused a leak. One of the natural byproducts of the air conditioning system is it creates water from condensation at the evaporator coil that is why all systems have drain hoses, if the drain became plugged it could cause the water to over flow and there would be water at the furnace. Also if the coil did become frozen from either running it while it was low on refrigerant or if the filter was dirty and caused low air flow it could also cause a great deal of water to form which would over flow the small catch pan under the coil. We fully stand behind that our work was properly diagnosed and correctly performed, the additional issues (which we did not charge her for) were not connected to the original replacement of the evaporator coil and we believe not such that it would cause the refrigerant to leak out as fast as it did and there for is why we firmly believe that the leaks in the line set that goes under grade are the problem. We also have issue with the fact that we were not informed from July 11, 2013 until June 2, 2014 that there was any problem with the system not cooling, and therefore believe the systems was operating properly and only after an amount of time did the refrigerant finally leak out from the line set and caused the no cooling situation.

I set up the initial appointment w/ Bob. Gary performed the work. Gary arrived at the appointed time and concluded that our existing air exchanger was no longer working because the motors were burned out. He priced out two options: a new system or replacing the old motors. We decided to go w/ the new system. Gary came a second time and installed the new system. He worked efficiently and cleaned up thoroughly. He needed to get a wiring diagram from the manufacturer to complete the hookup. He came back a third time and performed that work quickly and completely. We were very pleased w/ the overall work, responsiveness and fair pricing.

Tech was over 2 hours late. When I called to inquire, management told me techs were doublebooked and tech would call when leaving previous job. My husband took off work early to meet the tech and had I not called after an hour, we never would have known that the tech was doublebooked and not going to show up for over 2 hours after the appt time. Tech diagnosed leak in evaporator and gave us a quote immediately which I appreciated. However, his computer program was not completely setup and unbeknownst to him, the evaporator was not in the computer program so it did not appear on the quote nor was it included in the price. He tried to send another quote the next morning at 6:00 am and it was still wrong. I called management to finish up the quote and get on the schedule, but management was not willing to finish it. Instead they said the tech would have to call me (even though I'm sure he was again doublebooked that day as it was the first hot days for the summer). Tech sent another quote and it was still incorrect due to the evaporator issue. I called another vendor and bought from them. I have no complaints about the tech and I may use this company in the future as long as it's not a busy couple of days for them. We did have them out earlier in the year to fix our furnace inducer and all went well. But this particular appt was a really bad experience. I was ready to spend money with them and really wanted the Carrier brand but couldn't wait for them to figure things out. I felt management should have been able to finish up the quote for me especially since management knew the computer program was not complete. When I received a follow up email from the tech on my quote a month later, I responded with my experience and how poor I thought it was but made sure to let the tech know I felt it was a management issue, not a reflection on him. Needless to say, I have not heard any response from management with an apology. I also advised them I would be writing this review so others could be aware of their management style or lack of it. Thanks Nancy
Description of Work: Tech was out to diagnose AC not working. This review is by no means a reflection on the tech. It is a review/reflection on management, I believe I spoke with John in the office but can't be sure.

Response from Quality Heating & Air Service Inc
Hi (member name removed), We are sorry that you were not satisfied with your experience, we strive to make improvements here at Quality Heating and appreciate your feedback. During the first heat wave of the summer it is always difficult to know our technicians exact schedules, we get very busy and some appointments run over their time. We want to give our customers our full attention at appointments and it is sometimes inconvenient to the next customer in line. Our technicians always make a call to alert the next customer when they are on their way. We understand that not everyone works where they can leave and needs to take time off, but unfortunately this is how the process has to be for our line of business. We were in the process of learning a new software dealing with our quotes and are very sorry that you experienced our services while we were working out the kinks. We hope you can relate that learning a whole new process can be tricky and we have learned from our mistakes and continue to try and improve our relationships with our customers to make it easier and more convenient to get a quote on services and products. Again, thank you for your feedback and we hope that you will give us the chance to improve your opinion on our business with your next heating/cooling need. Sincerely, Quality Heating & Air Services, Inc.

I communicated through the Angie's List messsage system with John of Quality Heating and Air Services. We agreed on a date and time. I waited for someone to show up and no one did. I called the office, they didn't know who I was or why I was calling. They did call John to follow up. He was stuck on a commercial a/c project and would be late. He called me and told me he never got the message even though everything is on record in the message system. I obviously would not trust them to be my hvac company, especially in an emergeny . . . very disorganized.

Dear [member name removed], Thank you for your review. We are fairly new to Angie's list and are learning the processes as we go. The appointment was made on Angie's list during the extreme heat wave and high humidity levels, which in turn created extremely heavywork loads for techs and office personnel. The appointment on Angie's list was mistakenly not synchronized with our office's appointment schedule. We apologize for the oversight on the appointment. We hope you understand that we are learning this technology but it in no way represents our HVAC knowledge and procedures. Thanks, Quality Heating & Air Services, Inc.

Everything was done curteously and professionally. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: These guys were awesome both times I used them. Last summer when my air conditioning went our they were there within hours. The repair took a couple of trips which stretched into the evening. The technician even called late that night to make sure everything was still working. When my furnace went out this winter - two unrelated problems - they were again there within hours and got it going right away.

The installers were courteous, knowledgable and professional. The salesman answered all of my questions, was very honest about what I needed for my size and type of home and provided all of the paperwork necessary for rebates etc. Previously, my air conditioning unit was just sitting on the river rock landscaping, the new unit is on a nice pad. Mark (one of the installers) took time to explain the new programmable thermostat and let me know that they would be back out in the spring when the weather was warmer to make sure the air conditioning unit was functioning properly. Overall, a very positive experience. I received three estimates (all from Angie's list vendors) and they were the best price and the service was great.

This particular service was performed at my personal residence vs one of the rental properties I own, but I have used Quality Heating and Air for 7 or 8 years now for heating and air conditioning problems at all of my properties and have found them to consistently provide high quality service at reasonable prices. Services have included everything from routine inspections and tune ups for furnaces and central AC systems to emergency services for heating failures in winter, and everything in between. Some of the things I like most are that they are locally owned, not a franchise, they respond quickly, call if they are running late for some reason, and have often shown me how I can fix a simple problem myself. For example, the igniter on my furnace is prone to oxidizing and then will not light. They showed me how easy it is to remove, clean, and put it back in myself rather than paying them to come out once or twice a heating season. Honesty like that goes a long way !!

This is the 3rd time I've used Quality Heating and Air and I've been happy with them every time. I called them Saturday morning after waking up to a cold house. I talked to Jim and he told me what the visit would cost before coming and that it was more since it was a weekend and what additional labor would cost if necessary. They answered my call right away and told me they'd be there in about an hour and arrived in about that amount of time. Upon arriving Jim walked downstairs to the furnace room and heard the whistling noise coming from the furnace and seemed to know right away the air filter was causing the problem. I had another filter so he put that in and started the furnace up, the whistling was gone and the furnace heated the house up very quickly. It went from 69 to 75 in 3-5 mins. I've always been impressed with how Quality Heating and Air comes to do what they were asked to do and aren't looking to upsell you on things that aren't needed just trying to make an extra buck. In the past I've had them do an A/C tune-up one spring and also they fixed the circuit board in 2009 when that was bad.
Description of Work: My furnace was lighting but would shut off as soon as the fan kicked in. Quality Heating & Air came and fixed the problem. I felt pretty dumb because even though I had changed my furnace air filter about a month ago it was causing restricted air flow and shutting the furnace off. Moral of the story. Check your air filter first and hopefully save yourself the cost of the visit. We've had someone similar problems with our furnace in the past that needed a new Ignition Kit and New Circuit Board so I thought it was something similar again. Luckily and Unluckily it wasn't anything more than just the filter.

The service rep taking the appointments/calls was very polite, professional, and even had a great sense of humor. They were able to easily accommodate our availability, and schedule a service visit. The initial call also included a breakdown of their pricing structure which I greatly appreciated so I had a ballpark cost our the service visit. The service tech that was ultimately sent to our house called 30 minutes in advance to let me know he was on his way, he was on time, and very professional as well. He was able to diagnose the issue, replace the faulty part, and do basic furnace cleaning within a total of a 45 minute visit. Very happy with the service, and the experience overall.
Description of Work: Of course on the first really cold day of this winter, our furnace was no longer holding a consistent temperature. I used Angie's list to find an HVAC company in my area, and I ultimately chose to contact Quality Heating & Air Service based upon their high reviews and overall score. Upon contacting Quality Heating & Air Service, they were able to dispatch a service technician to our home right away. The service tech quickly diagnosed the issue as a sensor failure, and and replaced the faulty part.

They provided a quote which was very competitive. The weather was turning colder at the end of Sept and they were able to work us in the same week we decided to go with them. They installed the furnace and had it working the first day, and came back the following morning to complete the AC. They were very professional and didn't mind me poking my head in every so often to check things out and took time to answer my questions. They helped fill out the applicable rebate forms and followed up to schedule the inspection.
Description of Work: They replaced our furnace and airconditioner. They removed the old ones and hauled them away and installed new Carrier furnace and AC.
