At the entry to our house, our sidewalk had sunk 2.5 inches on one side and 1.5 on the other. It had been an eyesore for several years. I was inthe process of getting bids for a new sidewalk and new driveway whensomeone suggested we try sandjacking since our concrete was in such great condition otherwise. Am I happy I did this. Aside from the significant cost savings, we were not happy that the new concrete would be a different color than our front stoop and we hated to rip up the entire sidewalk for just one problem. Seth and Sam introduced themselves and told us how the process works. They had the jacks in place and the sidewalk lifted in a flash. They then asked if we were okay with the height of the sidewalk. I had them go a bit higher and then they began filling with the sand. At that point we needed to leave, but they cleaned up, caulked and left things looking very nice. It is like we have a new sidewalk. The entry to our house is no longer an embarrassment. I highly recommend Advanced Sandjacking..
Description of Work: Our sidewalk was raised about 2.5 inches at our front stoop and a few other sections were raised slightly to correct drainage.

Our house is only 7 years old and the walkway to the front door sunk 4" where it meets the stairs. It also sunk on the right side where it meets the driveway. The quotes to replace the walkway with either new aggregate concrete or pavers were coming in at $10k. Two concrete contracters recommended Sandjacking, and Advanced Waterproofing and Advanced Sandjacking raised the entire walkway to its original height. I am quite impressed - they were friendly and very informative, and most importantly, the walkway looks brand new. They cleaned up the site and caulked the joint. And, it was less than 1/10 of the price for a new walkway.
Description of Work: Raised the walkway by 4" on 2 spots

Although their website states that they will get back within 24 hours, we did not hear back within a week of calling and scheduling a quote. Their excuse was that they were waiting for the ground to thaw more, which is fine, but it would have been nice for them to let us know they couldn't give us a quote at the time instead of us having to call them to get this information. The price quoted was significantly above others, so we decided not to go with them.
Description of Work: We had Advanced Sandjacking come out to get a quote on raising the block in front of our front steps.

Thank you for your comments. According to our records, you emailed a request for an estimate on 4/1/13, and were sent a reply the same day explaining we would be begin doing estimates in a couple of weeks. This was a very unusual April, and due to extreme snowfalls, it took longer than normal for the frost to come out of the ground. Since concrete often moves with the freeze/thaw cycle, we typically wait until the frost is out, so we are able to take accurate measurements and provide correct pricing. In your case, since we had provided an estimate for the same work in 2011, we were able to provide you an updated estimate on 4/10/13. I make every attempt to keep our website updated to set the correct expectation for our customers. I am sorry we were unable to accommodate your needs. Please feel free to contact me personally if you wish to discuss this. Thank you. Shirl Lamoureux, Vice President, 952-562-8100

Very professional, we had cheaper quotes but they have a very specific system that seems higher quality than most. Showed up early and used air filters and plastic to hold down dust, and they were accomodating to our needs to have the job finished on split dates.
Description of Work: They waterproofed our basement and also broke up extra cement in the basement floor for the plumber to gain access to bathroom pipes. Then scheduled another day 2 weeks later to come back to finish the concrete after the plumber was done.

I want to thank you for your comments and your candid feedback. This is invaluable to us, as it helps us to identify areas where we need to improve. Our goal is to have an estimate out within 3 business days of the request, and I realize that during very busy times, we are not meeting this goal consistently. You can be sure this will be a primary focus for our 2013 season. Thank you again!

Fairly well. Communications and response was a bit fickle. I had to call back 3 hours later after being told I would receive a call within an hour. We had scheduled an afternoon time slot and I received a call before noon that they were on their way. I wasn't able to meet at the property to inspect and pay. They had no issues letting me inspect it that evening and then dropping off the check at a later time. All in all I think good people and the job was quality. I have a few things I need to ask now that we've had some moisture and I see all the water isn't running the way i'd hoped... could be an issue with leveling capability... I'd use them again, just know that communications might not be impressive. Service and quality are great in my opinion.

Our front concrete walk had settled a couple inches where it met the front stoop. This had occurred over the 20 years since our house was built. The concrete itself was in excellent condition, just lower than it should be. This meant the step from the walk up the first step was much higher than it should be or compared to the second step. Options were (a) mudjacking; b) repaving with walk with new concrete; and (c) sandjacking. I've known people who have had sunken walks mudjacked only to replace the walks a few years later when the problems re-occurred. The quote from a good concrete contractor was $2400 to remove the existing concrete, regrade the base, and pour new concrete. While browsing options on the internet, I found references to sandjacking. I researched sandjacking and found it had been developed by an engineer precisely for this type of problem. Since he lives in Fargo, i figured this solution should survive our Minnesota freeze/thaw cycles. The quote from Advanced Sandjacking was $350 to raise my front walk to the proper level. Given the good reviews on Angie's list, I decided to use their service. The day before the work was to be done, I dug up some perennials next to the walk. Since it was early October, the plants were going dormant and didn't mind being disturbed. This took me about 15 minutes. The crew arrived on the day scheduled at the time I was told they would. After introducing themselves and making sure all the windows were closed, they got to work. It took the two-person crew about 15 minutes to set the jacks and insert the pipe to place the sand underneath the walk. The only landscaping they disturbed was the small area I knew about ahead of time. Pumping in the sand was noisy and dusty but wasn't that bad and didn't go on for long. Raising the walk, caulking the seam and clean up went quickly. It was less than 45 minutes from the time the crew pulled up in front of my house to the time they pulled away, job done. What I liked about this process: (1) The existing concrete was saved (nothing went to a landfill). (2) The walk could be used immediately. In fact, the mail carrier used the walk to deliver a package as the crew was packing up. (3) $2000 cheaper than removing the old concrete and pouring new concrete. (4) Minimal disturbance of the plantings that line both sides of the walk. (4) No ugly patches such as those mudjacking would have left. (5) Really fast. (6) Very little residual sand on the surface. It took me about 10 minutes to replant the dug-up perennials in the same place as they had been. They needed dividing anyway. The only other thing I had to do was top up the soil along the walk to bring up the grade up a bit. This covered the small amount of the "sand" that was visible.
Description of Work: Raised front walk to proper level at front stoop using sandjacking method. The crew used 3-4 jacks to raise the existing concrete then injected limestone "sand" underneath to support the concrete. When the concrete was at the proper level, the jacks were removed. They put foam backer rod into the gap between the walk and steps then caulked the seam.

Arrived as promised. Asked them to come out to give me an opinion on our water problem in the basement. Provided me an opinion on how to fix the problem. Indicated that sandjacking would not work and we would have to take the concrete slab out which is not one of the services they provided. Followed up with a quote on waterproofing the basement. They followed up with a quote which was in the range he gave me originally. Very professional. We have decided to try regrading first but will call if we need to do additional steps.

I would hire Advanced Sandjacking again. It was a huge cost saving to have our walk "raised" instead of being replaced. It looks wonderful.
Description of Work: Raised six sections of sidewalk with two different step levels leading from driveway to front stoop. Some areas raised only 1" while others had to be raised 4.5" due to settling. They jacked up the sections of cement and filled the void below with dried limestone sand. They caulked the joint between the stoop and sidewalk and the seperate sections.

The total time it took them to do the work was about 2.5 - 3 hrs. I liked how they gave me a half hour warning before they were to arrive, to allow me to get back to my house as I was out on errands. They let me know to close any windows that were open or doors to avoid dust getting in. After it was all said and done, the sidewalk looks great, and now the first front step is a "normal" height and no longer a hazard. They also caulked in between the sidewalk to give it a nice look, and to help keep some moisture out, as well as cleaned up the sidewalk of dust and debris. My overall experience was very positive, and I would recommend them to anyone needing these types of repairs done, plus it's a much cheaper alternative to getting a new sidewalk torn out, paying for disposal, then having a new one re-poured. I would estimate my savings to be around 50% or more.
Description of Work: Advanced Sandjacking came to the house I just purchased to level the side walk that lead from the side of my driveway, to my front stoop/door. Before, they came, I had about a 1.5 inch gap between the sidewalk, and the stairs leading to my front door. Additionally, my sidewalk was tilting toward the house, which would cause water to drain toward it.

They were not on Angie's List. It cost between $500 and $600 for sand jacking. I also had them do concrete work but they did it separately. I liked that unlike mud jacking they did not drill holes in my existing concrete. They raise sidewalks and garage floors. I had them raise a section of my sidewalk which may have been eighteen feet long. It then sunk and settled. They blew granite or chipped stone and finely chip it into very tiny stuff. They jacked the pieces and blew it underneath to raise it. In mud jacking they would drill quite large holes in your concrete in order to do that and there would be discoloration where they drill the holes where you could see circular holes in the slabs of concrete. Sometimes, they would do as many as four per slab and so, I did not want that done as I did not want those marks in there. In this, they raised it up and did not drill any holes in it but just blew it underneath. They gave me a guarantee. I have had mine settle a little bit but all in all I give them high marks. It was quick and clean. It was $500 and $600 to raise a section which was eighteen feet long. It was a sidewalk leading up to my home. They were the only ones that did sand jacking around here. They had to have a franchise deal and they were the only ones that had a franchise in this area. So, they were the only place to get it. I liked that they were on time when they came out here, they did what they said that they would do and the results were good. It was a little more expensive than mud jacking but nobody else did that. I did not want to do mud jacking and I did not get this from anywhere else. I would grade their price highly for what they did. They did have a guarantee but I have not called them yet. Their responsiveness was good. I have not had them come out before. The only thing was that the person took up the time to blow the stuff in there than their work schedule but as far as the person that came out to give the estimate and everybody else, there is no reason that they were not professional. There were no marks or anything and it was a clean job.

The new sidewalks and driveway has held up well. There was some distance between what was quoted for caulking and what was actually done, due to miscommunication. They ended up doing what I thought they were going to do, but were reluctant about it and gave me an attitude. We have a warranty for what they fixed. I like that there aren't hole in our cement thanks to the limestone particles.
