We were very satisfied with their work. They were able to finish the project the way we wanted it to look. They did a wonderful job.
Description of Work: They worked on a backdoor project for us. We have also used them for siding and windows. They also replaced the front door.

I contracted with Window World in July of 2010, obviously it's taken me a while to post this review, but frankly every time I think of the company I get so angry I try to just put the whole experience out of my mind. In any event, I was posting an A+ review today for another contractor I'd used more recently, and being on here reminded me that I owe it to the Angie's List community to share how horrible I felt my experience was with Window World. I was referred by a friend to a gentleman named Pat Hoy, who came out and did all the initial workup, measurements, contract, etc. I watched him take 2-3 pages of meticulous notes, make drawings, and so on. He wrote up the contract and said he would staple his notes to it, so WIndow World understood exactly what he had laid out for my project. Note that this started in July 2010, but by the time things were delayed, they'd fixed their various errors, replaced the parts they got wrong, my project didn't get finished till late Oct. 2010. I still have numerous e-mails saved documenting the timeline and details of all this. When they arrived to do the installation, the installers first of all had no idea they were supposed to replace the one window with a door. They launched a search, and apparently found my door frame in a warehouse, where their people had no idea who had ordered it or what it was for. They also didn't have any of the details about how they were supposed to finish off some of the tops of the other windows, and deal with quirks of my house that Pat had noted. They first tried to blame me, saying it wasn't fully described in the 1-page order sheet. When I told them how Pat had taken and attached 2-3 more pages of notes, their representative then claimed that wasn't part of the and quot;order, and quot; and they weren't responsible for those details. Next they tried to tell me that Pat was just an independent contractor, I should've known I couldn't rely on him, and they basically trashed their frontline salesman to me behind his back. Throughout the process I felt there was an utter disregard for the customer, me, who was spending thousands of dollars on this. The installation took far longer than they'd said it would. As they were finishing, I saw they had put the wrong window in the bathroom. The window is in a shower and the lower-half was supposed to be opaque, but they were installing a regular clear window. Again they first insisted it wasn't specified in the order and tried to blame me, then they trashed Pat some more for supposedly taking poor notes. At the end of the process, which had now taken 3 1/2 months to finish--by the time they'd come back with the door frame, and then come back yet again later with the opaque bathroom window I'd ordered--I was furious with them. At one point the crew chief on site implied to me that this wasn't an entirely unusual experience in terms of their internal communciation issues. When it was done, to add insult to injury, my window sills and floors around the work area were still covered in fine dust. As I said, I have a 100-year-old house, which raises concerns about lead paint, among other things, so they were supposed to be following the protocols for lead paint clean up. They did put up some plastic at times, but my now-wife who was home much of the time said people were going in and out without the appropriate safety clothes on, and didn't always put shoe covers on, as I believe is required, and tracked dust around the house. Anyway, at the end there was still quite a bit of dust, I kept photos of it, which I had to get tested for lead to make sure I wasn't now breathing a hazard in my own home due to their incomplete cleanup. When I complained, they sent a supervisor to look, who acknowledged that it didn't look like they'd followed the required safety procedures. In sum, I understand it's been a few years, and I leave it to others to make their own decision how much weight to give this review. But personally, in my subjective opinion, based on my experience with them, I still feel this is the worst contractor I have ever dealt with. I started off liking Pat, and thinking I was getting a good product at a good price, in particular compared to Home Depot, which I had initially intended to use for this. By the time I was done this project had become a huge source of anxiety and unhappiness.
Description of Work: I hired Window World, which I believe is a franchise owned locally by ProBuilt America, which appears as well on most of our correspondence, to replace the upstairs windows in my 100-year-old-house. I also had them remove a window leading to an overhang on the front of my house and replace it with a door.

They kind of have different sales for different sizes of windows and I just kind of felt that it was a little bit more mass produced and were a little bit cheaper. I had other companies come to my home that showed me the quality of their products and after the fact I felt that they were better and had a slightly better quality window although their cost was a little bit more. I saw that they were nationally recognized and that they had been around for awhile and just wanted to get several quotes and look at my options. I saw them them on T.V. everyday especially during baseball season. I think everyone should make sure that a company's product matches the way you want, but other than that their service guy and their installation guy seemed fine.

Arrived late to do the estimate (called with excuses on the way). Friendly sales guy (if a but sloppy and unprofessional). Knew what to do, and provided an estimate. No follow-up after the visit, but I didn't want any and had decided midway through the visit that this outfit probably wasn't for me. The bid from Pella was not too different and seemed a better quality product.
Description of Work: I did not go with Window World. They were at the low end of the estimates I did receive, but I didn't like their product. ALso, they were not appreciably cheaper than Pella, which seemed a much higher quality product. Frankly, their whole operation seemed a little low-budget and unprofessional. I submitted a request for an estimate through their web site and a few weeks after meeting with their sales guy at my house, I received an unsolicited call from some outfit I never heard of that knew my name and offering me a special deal on windows. I have to wonder if these guys sold my contact information....

I hired window world to do my roof, soffit, fascia and windows they did the roof soffit and fascia and would not fulfill their contract on the windows. The workers were incompetent the first time they did the soffit and fascia and they had to send a second crew to completely remove and reinstall the whole job due to the terrible workmanship. The roof was done by a crew that only spoke spanish except for the lead guy who spoke broken english. They knocked down my chimney and made a field promise to fix it with a stack at their expense or split the cost of brick. the last bill had a charge for the stack i decided on and the owner lied saying that his guy never promised the stack at their expense and threatened to put a lean on my house if i didnt pay. Thats a baseless threat if anyone else gets it from some fly by night co.. I had to contact the chamber of commerce to get them to remove the bricks from my attic the next year after i found them all over my attic. that fall 1 piece of 10' fascia fell into my neighbors yard, fortunately no one was injured, this spring 2 more pieces fell into neighbors yards. they refused to do the windows after all this and are in breach of contract. This was an all-summer nightmare and caused a great deal of distress.I find it very upsetting that there are companies like this operating for window world. This was extremely stressful and the absolute worst experience I have ever had dealing with any company.
Description of Work: windows on upper and lower porches to replace 18 double hungs with 8 side by side sliders. tear off and replace soffit and fascia on whole house with steel. tear off and replace roof shingles and repair any damaged boards.

Window world was very fast at coming to our home and measuring and ordering. The service rep for this was very friendly as well. He told us it would take 2-3 weeks to have the windows and doors installed. We told the service rep and he could clearly see that the windows and doors we were ordering were needed ASAP. We were not simply replacing bad windows we were replacing Missing windows and Exterior doors that did not lock properly. We had to call them inorder to find out any information about our service dates and only after we called them they told us that the windows had been in for a few days but they and quot;likeand quot; to schedule all service for the same day. Only after we told that we had no windows in our house did they come and install them. Which was also 4 weeks after we ordered them not 2-3. On one of the windows the installation man also ruined part of our siding. We still do not have our doors in our house. Apparently they made they wrong size door and need to remeasure one of our door frames. It has been a month and a half and we still have not had either of the doors replaced. Once again they never once called us to tell us that the doors would be late.

Work was done as promised and as scheduled. Very easy to do buisness with. Less expensive for the type of window we needed-nothing fancy. I contacted several other window replacement companies but none seemed interested in my business if I was going to replace just one window. Window world had no problem with just one window. Refreshing.

Our only complaint was the sales rep pushed for us to make a decision when he was done. I had told him straight forward at the beginning that we were getting more quotes. So when we were finished with the appointment, he pushed for us to sign. I again told him he would have to wait as we wanted more quotes. He then asked for a beverage and sat on the couch as if he was hanging out at a buddies house. More than once I hinted it was time to go as we were way past the 1 hour appointment time and we had other things to do. Yet he just sat there. After another half hour he finally packed up. The appointment had gone well up to then. We felt the sales rep was a little unprofessional at the end.
Description of Work: Although we didn't end up choosing Window World to replace our windows and siding, the sales rep was very informative and the price was competitive. He showed up on time and went over siding samples and windows. He wrote up an estimate on the spot which I appreciated. I had a total of 6 estimates for the job and it took forever for the other companies to get back to us with a quote. We ultimately went with Sela, who came in a bit lower than Window World for the same work and included a few extras.

This was a nasty experience. They quoted 4-6 weeks for delivery; it was 3 months before everything was done. Our windows were delivered with the wrong style screens, one window was the wrong size (and when the replacement arrived, IT had the wrong screen with it), and it took 6 trips for them to finish the work. It was a large purchase, and our salesman sold us on their financing, which was supposed to have been and quot;no interest, no paymentsand quot; if paid within 12 months. We were very surprised to find that the deal was actually and quot;no interestand quot; only - even though they were running televison ads that said and quot;no interest, no paymentsand quot; while we were trying to work this out. I talked with the franchise owner, and he accused me of trying to get out of paying for the windows. I was very offended. I would not recommend these folks to anyone.

The estimate was provided in November 2011 before the holidays. My wife and I contemplated it and signed an agreement about 4 weeks after the estimate. At that time, we did not know about the lead time required to special order the windows (we had special ordered storm windows in the past and it wasn't a long wait, hence we expected a similar timeframe for the replacement windows). After the windows were ordered and received (took a little over a month), we were able to get on the schedule for an installation (within two weeks). My wife was hesitant at first about an installation in the middle of winter; luckily the mild weather helped us out and the weather was actually pleasant on the day of installation. I'm not sure how we would have felt about a quality installation if it was bitter cold, the experience and our perception would certainly have been different. It only took one installer and he did a good job; unfortunately, the guidelines surrounding the trim/ interior/ exterior conditions had us doing some prep work since we didn't want to be charged extra for the trim to not be damaged so that we could reuse it after the installation. Overall great value for us and Window World kept in contact with us throughout the entire process, even after the work, we were contacted to inquire about final inspection status and our satisfaction. We would definitely use them again.

The sales person was great, he explained all parts of the process from the initial installation to how the replacement of a window pane if it needs to be replaced. It took approximately 6 weeks from order placement to installation. The installation took 2 days, the first day was replacing the windows and the second was wrapping the trim. The replacement of the windows went well. There was a few issues with things getting broken but they were handled by the contractor that installed the windows. The window for the bathroom was ordered as with safety glass but when it arrived there were no markings on it to indicate that it was safety glass, so replacement sashes were ordered and 3 weeks later the new sashes arrived.

They were fine. Their installers were good. They kept us informed on what they were doing. Their products were pretty good. We would use them again.
Everything went very well. My first meeting with the salesperson went well. He described the company and the product. We looked at the windows and patio door to be replaced. He provided an initial price and then knocked off some of the pricing items, etc. I assume they do this to make it seems like you are getting a good deal. I had some other prices from other vendors so I knew the price range we should be in and they did come in below that. About $1,100 for the insulation and $4,200 for the windows. The windows that were to be replace were side by side awning about 6 feet wide and 2 feet high. We had three like this and then a non-standard sliding patio door. We replaced the side by side awnings with one large slider. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable was the salesperson really pushed to close the deal on this visit. So, be prepared for a strong close on their part. I wouldn't get my first price from them, get a couple others and then you will be more comfortable when they try the hard close. So, he let me know it would take about 5 or 6 weeks and we signed the paperwork. The insulation work took place less than two weeks later. This part of the project was subbed out to another vendor. Also, within a week, Window World sent out a person to measure everything up. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He had some concerns about our framing around our patio door and said he would have his production manager take a look before the door was put in. That was the only dropped ball. When they called to set up the install, I still had not heard from the production manager. So, I mentioned this to them, and to their credit, he was out the next day to assure everything was doable. I'm not sure what would have happened if they had ordered the patio door and then found out it couldn't go in because the production manager didn't come out before the door was ordered. Luckily, that didn't happen. The date of the paper signing was 9/29 and the windows were installed on 12/8. That's pretty close to 10 weeks. We were in no hurry, so it didn't matter. We set up the install date and the installers showed up on time. They were polite, knowledgeable and efficient. Two guys, they were there all day and they were just very nice. They did a fantastic job both in side and out. They were careful about making a mess, they cleaned up afterward and you'd never know they were there. Overall, very satisfied.

I needed to replace my double hung 50 year old windows. I had an appointments set on Saturday for another company in the morning and Window World in the afternoon. The rep from the other company never showed up and never called to cancel. I am glad it happened that way because Window World did a great job. I like the fact that the salesperson came out and covered all the details and had a price sheet with options so I could make a decision on what to get and how much it would be. I didn't have to deal with the "if you buy now, we'll give you 25% off " that some window companies give you. Just a nice straightforward consultation. Shortly after ordering, Erick came out and measured the windows. My wife was home for the install and she said the installers we great and they did a great job. The windows are very solid quality, very quiet, keep the house cooler and look great. I will have more windows replaced by window world because of the quality of the windows and the great installers. I chose the 4000 series with some upgrades and had the window sills wrapped in aluminum..
